Happy Birthday Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

(Captain), Happy Birthday.
This is your special day... and it's an honor to be a part of it.
A lively party does have it's perks, but what if you and I share this day?
I must confess, I'm interested in you.
Your relentless bravery, your will to fight on... What caused you to be this way?
You want to know about me as well?
Then I will tell you all there is to know.
Heh heh... I've made sandwiches and prepared grape juice. Let us enjoy them while we talk.

2

(Captain), happy birthday.
This may come off as rather sudden, but is it all right if I serve you faithfully by your side today?
Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Be it cooking, laundry, cleaning, or anything else, I will handle it for you.
It is only natural that I try to pay you back for all I've received from you.
Oh? It looks like I'm having a bit too much fun?
Well, you're not wrong. I consider it a blessing to celebrate a day so significant to you.
So please, just sit back and relax. At the very least, I will see to it that you experience significantly greater delight than me for the day.

3

(Captain), happy birthday.
You know, I often think about how because our end goals differ, the paths we each tread also differs.
We travel together now because our paths happened to intersect.
That is why I feel so honored to be able to celebrate this special day with you.
There's no telling how soon our paths may once again diverge.
But even should that happen, I will continue to celebrate this day.

4

Happy birthday. It pleases me to be able to wish you felicitations another year.
I have advice to offer, though it may not be necessary for one so full of hope and with eyes set firmly ahead...
If, perhaps, you ever find yourself doubting your own self worth, you should remember me.
You saved me. Neither my best friend alone nor Lyria alone would have been enough to help me live this long.
Your strength saves others. It will never be worthless, especially not to me.
Heh, you seem confused. That is all right. It is best if you do not fully comprehend the matters I speak of.
More importantly, it is time to give you your present—Levin grape juice made from this year's rather spectacular harvest.
Chill it well before you drink it. You'll be able to fully partake in its fragrant aroma and sour notes.

5

Happy birthday, (Captain). It fills me with joy to be able to celebrate this day once more.
Do you remember the first time we celebrated your birthday?
We spoke of our lives to one another over sandwiches and grape juice.
I've been turning that conversation around in my mind since, and... I feel I must apologize.
At the time, I said I would tell you all there is to know about myself, but I purposely withheld some information.
Not out of distrust, but out of cowardice. I wasn't prepared for you to know me on a deeper level.
Since that day, we've been through countless experiences, both bitter and sweet...
And now I believe I'm comfortable enough to share all that I am—with you.
Would you mind if... we spent today conversing in relative peace and quiet?
Yes, a return to our starting point, if you will. I'm certain the sandwiches and grape juice we share today will taste far better than they did before.

Happy New Year Cutscenes

1

(Captain), happy New Year.
(Captain), would you play a game of menko with me?
This game can be quite complex. I've spent much time researching the cards I made.
And the cards themselves are not the only variable. The way you throw them requires just as much attention.
Come now. I'll let you borrow any of these cards here. And then we'll have a proper match.

2

Fortune cookies? I think I'll pass.
I will tread the path I want. Basing my actions on what a piece of paper says about my luck is no way to go about life.
I will continue to pour my utmost into the Kingdom of Levin's reconstruction.
There is no need to fret, (Captain). I have no intention of troubling you over it.
I didn't expect to see you pouting in response...
Yes, of course. I will ask for your help should the need ever arise.
Thank you for offering, (Captain).

3

(Captain), you've come at a good time. Would you step over here for a moment?
Hehehe... I finally made a mochi sandwich, you see.
It's quite an idea, isn't it? I spent some time studying how mochi could be used instead of bread.
It was quite the ordeal to roast it into a triangle while also checking for taste and texture...
But enough of that. I'd like you to have a bite.
Hm? Where are the sandwich fillings?
...
Heh... I was so absorbed in the mochi, I completely forgot about the rest of the ingredients.
Well, what do you think would go well with the mochi? Shall we brainstorm together?

4

Happy New Year.
Heh, even I can be struck by the desire to watch the first sunrise. It's been a while.
Time to say goodbye to the old and ring in the new. It's what we do every year, but now I view it a bit differently.
Perhaps it's because I've changed into a person with hopes and dreams moving forward.
Thanks to you all and my dear friend.
As a small smile brightens his lips, warm rays of light shine upon his face.
What a beautiful morning...
You know... Why don't we watch the first sunrise next year too? Only if you like, of course.
Consider it a promise for us to live until then. Let's work hard and have a good year.

5

And so our promise is kept. Once again, we enjoy the first sunrise of the year together, and it is no less beautiful than the last.
There is something I'd like to say... Will you and the gentle sun on the horizon care to be my audience?
My resolution this year and all the years to come... is to live with hope in my heart.
I realize, given my personality, that having a positive outlook on every situation will be difficult.
But I won't shy away from such a challenge. Otherwise, I'll never change.
I'll move forward at my own pace, keeping in mind all the support you and our friends have given me. This, I swear.

1

Hm? What's that? Are you looking for someone to give that to?
I'm sorry to say, but Albert is already gone.
When this day comes around, he is chased by many a woman.
Hah. Even the Thunderswift Lord is no match for the fervor of a woman after a man's heart.
Hm? These are for me? Not Albert?
...
Apologies... I wasn't expecting anything...
Thank you very much. I gladly accept your gift.

2

Chocolates for me this year too, (Captain)? Why, thank you.
You're quite a curious one for giving an eccentric researcher like me chocolate year after year.
My interest in you continues to grow. How I would love to study you.
Hm? You're more interested in me? Well, considering the circumstances, I suppose that's a given.
But if this is to be a contest where we compare our curiosity levels, know that I have every intention of winning.
Unfortunately there is no way to measure such a thing. So I shall prove the fact with my White Day gift next month.

3

Oh? You have chocolate for me this year too, (Captain)?
Thank you, I graciously accept.
I must say, I feel most blessed to be able to partake in this yearly tradition.
I've always found relationships calling for heartfelt exchange of gifts to be so fascinating.
As long as you're okay with it, I hope we can continue this relationship for a long time to come.
Heheh... Of course, I'll be keeping up my research on what best to give back so that you don't tire of me.

4

Are those Valentine's chocolates for me? You never miss a year, do you.
Heh... Thank you. I'm elated to receive this honor.
You think I'm exaggerating? I assure you I'm not. It's been a while since I've received any sort of treat.
Before my crimes came to light, I was viewed as a hero and received a great deal of gifts equal to the fame.
They completely stopped after both my crimes and my transformed figure were revealed to the people.
I'm not saying I wish for more gifts. It's simply proof of the people's fear and distrust of my person.
But you haven't changed your attitude towards me whatsoever.
I'm lucky to know you. You've always treated me as the person I am—not as a hero or a villain.
Again, I thank you. I shall treasure these chocolates.

5

Valentine's chocolates, for me? Is it that time of year already?
The seasons pass by so quickly... Thank you for your continued gifts.
Do you recall what I shared last year? How I stopped receiving any gifts from Levin's citizens once my crimes came to light...
Recently, I've started receiving them again. Nowhere near the same volume as before, of course.
But it is a noticeable change, and one that wouldn't have been possible without the efforts of His Highness, my dear friend, the operations planning team—and you, (Captain).
I am lucky to have had all your support. That is the thought that fills my head whenever I gaze at those new gifts.
Though if I may be frank...
Nothing fills me with more joy than when I receive something from you.
Yes, I realize there is no objective way to rank gifts and the sentiments contained within them.
It is what it is. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

1

(Captain)... Here you are.
I've made you some sweets by hand. I hope you like them...
You want to know if I'm good at making things like this?
I wouldn't say I'm bad at it...
Cooking is very much like the research I so often do.
You make the proper arrangements, form hypotheses, test them, and verify the results.
Heh heh... We'll know if my theories were correct with one taste from you.

2

(Captain), this is thanks for Valentine's. I hope you find them to your liking.
Yes, they're handmade this year once again. Though I did exert greater effort into the preparation this time.
To be more specific, I asked Vyrn and Lyria about your preferences when it comes to confectionery.
And I also consulted with Albert.
I figured he probably has more experience with such events than I. He provided me with much valuable info.
Now as far as I could tell, these are quite delectable.
But the results of my research mean nothing if they are not to your liking.
I only hope that I've been able to demonstrate my interest in you, even if just a bit.

3

(Captain), I have some handmade treats for you this year as well, if you'll accept.
These are Levin-themed... I hope you'll enjoy the taste of my home country.
It's an eggy confection made with Levin grapes and spring water. I invented the recipe myself.
Hehe... The flavor's going to give you a real shock. Curiosity piqued yet?
Go ahead, use your tongue to test the results of my research.

4

Finally the day I've been waiting for has arrived. Would you accept this gift of appreciation?
Heh... Curious, isn't it? I'm sure you've already guessed, but these sweets were created from my latest research.
As part of Levin's restoration, it's supposed to become a staple specialty, since the cream is made using our local wine.
It took a lot of effort to evaporate the alcohol in a way that wouldn't taint the flavor, but now children and adults who can't have alcohol will be able to eat it.
Everyone of all ages can enjoy the subtle flavors of our magnificent wine, as well as the sophisticated scents that come with it.
It's the perfect way to spread the appeal of our wine and increase demand... A successful endeavor that shall benefit our country.
Through much trial and error, I've balanced the weight and scent in a way that befits the high-class quality of Levin's products—
Heh, you're making a face similar to my dear friend's whenever we chat over wine. Perhaps I should've prepared a better explanation for today.
To the point: I am confident in this product. Please, have a taste.

5

Welcome to Restaurant Yurius. I've been eagerly awaiting your arrival, (Captain).
My name is Yurius, and I'll be your dinner planner, chef, maitre d', and restaurant manager for tonight.
As thanks for the gift you gave me last month, I have prepared a full course meal of Levin's finest.
Heh, all right, all right. Enough with the formalities, then.
I've planned for tonight to be a delight for all five senses. The food, decorations, and lighting should provide the perfect Levin experience.
Though Levin is still under development, I have brought out all I can to make tonight an unforgettable experience.
Let us begin with the Castle Town Sandwich...

...
(Captain) spots Yurius and tries to surprise him from behind.
Choose: Boo!
Hm? (Captain), what's with the loud voice?
Was I scared, you ask? In Levin thunder strikes all the time, so...
No... Sudden loud noises no longer have any effect on me.
Oh, I see. It's Halloween, so you were trying to play a trick on me. Apologies.
Hah. Don't lose spirit. Try to scare me next year without relying on sound.

2

...
Seeing Yurius walking ahead on the street, (Captain) sneaks up on him and tickles his sides.
Choose: Coochie-coochie coo!
Oh, (Captain). Was that supposed to be some sort of Halloween prank just now?
Yes, I am ticklish but not quite enough to yelp in surprise.
I apologize for not meeting your expectations, but there's no need to puff your cheeks...
Sigh... Perhaps I'm not fit to be the recipient of pranks.
Allow me to play a prank on you next year, (Captain). I hope you'll look forward to it.

3

A line has already formed in front of the building specified by Yurius. He is tending to a group of customers.
Hope you enjoyed the Yurius House of Scares. Have a safe and happy Halloween.
Ah, (Captain)... Sorry, it's gotten a bit busy here.
My little attraction has hundreds of scares within. It's only one step away from a haunted house.
I've included every idea I had for playing tricks on you, (Captain).
And as you just saw, the trial run was an overwhelming success.
Why don't you try my wonderful world of tricks and experience the roller coaster of emotions for yourself, (Captain)?
Wait, hold on a second... I hate to say this, but I can't afford to be seen giving anyone VIP treatment.
Would you mind lining up like everyone else? The back of the line should be behind that corner.
Aah. That'll be three of you, yes? One moment, please.

4

Yurius: Good grief... Could some of my personality traits have transferred over due to the length of your parasitic stay? Is that even possible?
Tentacle: ...!
Yurius: Heh, you need not give me such a cautious look, (Captain). I know what you mean to say.
It seems my tentacles possess emotion and can manifest on their own, much to my chagrin.
You see, they wish to play tricks, as they became interested after observing my own research on the matter of crafty behavior.
Now that you have a full understanding on the situation, would you be so kind as to be their playmate, (Captain)?
There is no risk of danger. Though I appear relaxed, I assure you that I am exerting a careful degree of control.
Tentacle: ...!

5

(Captain), are you free at the moment?
I made a storybook with special effects. Would you like to read it?
Curiosity piqued, (Captain) nods. As soon as the cover is opened, an image pops out of the page.
Heh, Saint Lethan Castle. The story is set in Levin, as you can see.
Flipping to the next page brings out another surprise. Black fog starts surrounding the captain, conjured from thin air.
To complement this scene of gathering thunderclouds. It provides ample ambience, doesn't it?
Choose: How is this possible?
Heh, through research, of course. I'd love to provide a thorough explanation, but one night isn't enough to cover it all. I can send you the documents later.
Now the next page will require you to dodge lightning strikes from above.
Yes, you heard me correctly. As the role of the reader, you should proceed with caution.
The lightning strikes will be small, but no less real. A hit from them will be... electrifying, to say the least.
With a nervous, but excited laugh, (Captain) eagerly turns the page.

Happy Holidays Cutscenes

1

Happy holidays, (Captain).
The holy night's dinner is a time for feasting and for joy.
I've prepared some special wine that will pair well with our food. I'll make sure only the adults partake of it though.
Come now. Don't give me that look.
You'll have grape juice in place of wine.
Hah. You will love it. And I hope be satisfied by it as well.

2

Happy holidays, (Captain). I have something for you.
This book here is one that I've really enjoyed since I was a child.
Oh, relax. I assure you it's no scholarly text. It's a famous tale of chivalry based in Levin.
I love fictional stories. In a sense, they allow me to live through events that I would never be able to experience in my own life.
A world unbound by reality, where you can stretch out your wings and soar to the limits of your imagination.
Of course, I have countless other books I can recommend you as well. I ought to give you a tour of my personal study some time, (Captain).

3

On their way home from shopping for the upcoming feast, Yurius suddenly stops and gazes up at the sky.
Oh... Would you look at that... Snow is starting to fall.
How nice. I hope it continues for some time.
Because it looks pretty? No. Because it covers everything without judgment.
All is hidden under a pure white layer... Pain, sadness, dark pasts...
Ah... My apologies. I did not mean to speak of such an ill-fitting topic for the season.
Please be at ease. I don't plan on being gloomy during the feast.
Being with you all is comforting, but also...
Never mind. Come, let us return. Everyone is waiting.

4

My apologies, (Captain). I'm afraid I'll be spending the holy night this year in Levin.
Though restorations are still underway, we've made enough progress for Levin's people to be able to enjoy the holidays.
His Highness wishes to throw a banquet in the castle, and I'm to be the program director. His personal orders, of course.
That's why I've been busy arranging orders for wine and food—writing letters to important people. It's been quite the honor.
I owe His Highness my thanks. Not only did he save my life, but he's also given me a role of great significance.
The banquet is open to everyone, not just citizens of our country. You should join us if you happen to be free.
I'm certain His Highness would love to see you there.

5

(Captain), I hope you're enjoying the holidays. Speaking of which, there's something I'd like to show you.
Gaze up at the night sky. The result of my research shall soon reveal itself.
Have I discovered a way to make it snow? Heh, I'm afraid the sight I've prepared is far more extravagant.
Fireworks pair rather well with the holy night, don't you think?
My dear friend taught me the basics, which I improved upon to make the spectacle more appropriate for the occasion.
Color choice and arrangement were taken into consideration, but the most impactful design choice was making them explode into shapes like holiday trees and Santa...
Ah, my apologies. I didn't mean to distract with my explanation.
The fireworks show has only just begun. Let's enjoy it to the fullest.

It Takes Two to Soar

Albert awakens to find himself in an unknown environment. King Audric had ordered the hardworking Yurius and Albert to take a break, and as a surprise, Yurius had brought his friend to an uninhabited island. They're thankful for the king's kindness and decide to make the most of their vacation as a show of gratitude. Having made the most of their time off, they attempt to return home, only to have their boat swallowed by a fish of giant proportions.

Albert: ...
Eyes shut and fast asleep, Albert gradually awakens to the sound of the ocean and the feeling of wind brushing against his cheeks.
Albert: (Is this... a beach? I smell salt in the air...)
Albert: (Wait... Shouldn't I be at the inn?)
Albert: Where... am I?
Yurius: Have you finally awoken, my dear friend?
Albert, confused about his surroundings, turns his head to find Yurius smiling at him suspiciously.
Albert: Yurius! What's going on? Where are we?
Yurius: Who knows, really? Your guess is as good as mine...
Albert: I don't remember ever coming here... Last I recall, I was in bed about to go to sleep...
Yurius: And sleep well you did. In fact, I couldn't ask for anything more. It made things very easy.
Albert: Things? I hope you weren't using me as a subject for one of your weird experiments.
Yurius: Heh. If that were true, I'd already have succeeded.
Albert: ...!
Albert: (Think! What's going on? And how did we even get here?)
Albert: It sure is packed. You can always count on Auguste to show a thing or two on how to run an accommodation.
Yurius: Managing food stalls and security operations too... I'm sure we'll be able to make use of what we learn to boost Levin's own tourism.
Yurius: In any case, my old friend... You look tired. Have you not been getting any good shut-eye lately?
Albert: I'm fine. I won't go dozing off during our observation.
Yurius: No need to act all tough. Even heroes need their rest.
Albert: Nothing gets past you, huh? Truth be told, I haven't been sleeping well recently.
Yurius: I understand your commitment to work, but a good night's rest is absolutely essential if you want to actually get anything done.
Yurius: And it so happens that I've concocted a medicine that'll improve your quality of sleep. Why don't you give it a go?
Albert: You made this?
Yurius: Spare me the looks. I'm not giving you anything strange. Not while we're here on official business, at least.
Albert: I suppose you're right... In that case, I'll take it before heading to bed tonight.
Albert: So I took that medicine then passed out on the floor... And somehow ended up here in the meanwhile?
Yurius: Perhaps it was all the pent-up exhaustion, but you wouldn't wake up no matter what I did. I almost thought I had killed you.
Yurius: But regardless, it made bringing you to this island a piece of cake.
Albert: What are you plotting? This observation was ordered by His Majesty himself.
Albert: And yet you kidnap me on a whim? This is not the time to be fooling arou—
Lyria's Voice: Ah! Yuriuuus!
Vyrn: Albert's finally awake, huh?
  1. Good morning!
  2. It's been a while!

Choose: Good morning!
Albert: Ah, yes. Good morning.

Choose: It's been a while!
Albert: Indeed it has. Have you been well?
Continue 1
Albert: Hold on! Why is everyone here?
Vyrn: Hey, Yurius! You still haven't told Albert what's goin' on?
Yurius: Haha... My apologies. I simply had to see that perplexed expression. I couldn't help myself.
Albert: Yurius... An explanation, please. One that makes sense and that I can understand.
Albert: His Majesty's orders? Surely not!
Yurius: I'm afraid so. He was worried that we were overworking ourselves.
Yurius: Which is why he demanded that we both take a nice, long break.
Yurius: The only problem, however, was that a certain somebody loves working so much that he does so no matter the circumstances.
Yurius: I had no choice but to force this break upon you. This whole observation business was a front to trick you into coming along.
Albert: So that's what happened... But that still doesn't explain why (Captain) and the others are here.
Vyrn: We randomly bumped into Yurius by the coast! He told us the whole situation, and we thought it'd be fun to help you relax!
Albert: I see... I'm grateful that you all are willing to go so far for me, but...
Yurius: Worry not, old friend. You won't fall behind on any of the work I'm sure you're now worrying about.
Yurius: I've made the necessary arrangements and have adjusted your schedule accordingly. Not that you'd be able to work on an uninhabited island either way.
Albert: Heh. It appears you've thought this plan thoroughly through—down to the very location.
Yurius: Now then, my dear friend... I hope you're ready for this vacation. You're about to have the time of your life.
Albert: Thank you. And I'm sorry that you went through all this trouble for me.
Albert: With that said, I shall put my utmost into this vacation. I must enjoy myself not only for my own sake, but also for His Majesty's.
Yurius: Hahaha! That's the spirit!
Yurius: All right, then. Follow me! There's something we need to do before exploring the rest of the island.
Albert: And what would that be?
Yurius: Isn't it obvious? It's summertime, we're on an uninhabited island surrounded by sea so vast!
Yurius: It's time we break out the swimsuits!
Yurius: So how do I look? It's got a bit of a wild flair to it, if I do say so myself.
Albert: That's one way of describing it. Are you sure that's a swimsuit?
Yurius: But of course! Destructio and I had to work with what we had around us.
Vyrn: I gotta hand it to you, Yurius. I can't think of anybody else who'd think to live on some deserted island!
Yurius: And what about you, old friend? Would you like to join me in this wild attire?
Albert: I'll pass. I'll be fine with a normal swimsuit.
Joined by (Captain) and the gang, Yurius and Albert's desert island vacation is off to a wild start.
With the intent of making the most of their vacation, the two friends fool around as would schoolboys at the height of recess.
Albert: Hey, Yurius. What do you think of that fruit?
Yurius: Hmmm... It's bright red with a nice luster to it. Now would be the perfect time to eat such a ripe specimen.
Albert: You never fail to impress, my friend. You've got your plants all studied up, I see.
Yurius: I have my fair share of survival experience. This is nothing more than the fundamentals.
Yurius: Leave the picking to me. Destructio!
Tentacles: ...
Lyria: Wow! It grabbed the fruit like it was nothing!
Yurius: Now, Albert!
Albert: Got it! Skyblade!
Vyrn: Whoa! Those fish got the life shocked outta them! Look at 'em bob up and down!
Yurius: As skilled as ever, old friend. You've adjusted your power perfectly.
Albert: It wouldn't do any good to burn them to the bone, now would it? How about we get started frying these bad boys?
Lyria: The fish... ish sho goo!
Vyrn: Oww! Dang, this thing's super hot!
Yurius: Haha. You can slow down a bit. There's plenty more for everyone to eat.
Albert: Hrk!
Yurius: Hm? What's the matter, my friend? You too?
Albert: Fish bone... Throat...
Yurius: I told you to slow down, didn't I? The bone will pass on its own. Don't worry about it.
Vyrn: Haha! The Thunderswift Lord really does down his food as fast as lightning!
Albert: Gah. How negligent of me...
Lyria: Hehe. Isn't this so much fun?
The two retainers of Levin laugh with (Captain) and the others as they party until the depths of the night.
The pair's vacation ends as abruptly as it had begun, and having fully enjoyed themselves throughout the duration of their trip, the two prepare to make their way back home.
Yurius: All right, old friend. Is there anything else you'd like to do on this island before we leave?
Albert: I think we've done plenty. I feel as though my mind and body both have been completely renewed. Once we return, I should be able to focus on my work better than ever before.
Yurius: Haha, don't push yourself too hard. Otherwise, we'll have to come back for yet another vacation.
Albert: The same goes for you. After all, I'm not the only one who worked himself to the point where others started worrying for my well-being.
Vyrn: Ah, there it is! The boat we rode here on!
Basking in the afterglow of their much-needed vacation, the group makes their way toward the water, where a small boat—bound to the shore by a lone rope—floats peacefully.
However, a mere moment later—
Giant Fish: ...!
Both: Uhh...
A giant shadow darts by, and as quickly as it had appeared, the boat vanishes from sight.
Vyrn: No way! Our boat!
Lyria: Did that giant fish just swallow it whole?
In a bizarre turn of events, the group witnesses a giant fish consume an entire boat before their very eyes. They stare on in shock, their only mode of transportation gone.
It appears their vacation has only just begun...

A Deep-Sea Cultural Exchange

Shocked that their only means of transportation had been swallowed, Yurius explains to them that the fish is called a yellowtail marlin, and the size of the one they've encountered is truly a rare sight. Regardless of its impressive stature, the crew decides to go after the marlin in hopes of retrieving their lost boat. Yurius's plan, however, fails in spite of his familiarity with the fish's habitat and behavior, and the crew is unable to reclaim their boat. It's then that Lyria notices a strange presence and smell.

The vacation having wrapped up, the gang decides to return home. However, they encounter a not-so-small problem along the way.
The boat they had ridden to their vacation island had been swallowed whole by a fish of giant proportions.
Still in shock over what had just happened, (Captain) and the others stand on the beach, wondering what to make of this urgent issue.
Lyria: S-so what do we do? This is terrible!
Yurius: More like incredible! I never thought I'd be able to see such a rare species out in the wild.
Vyrn: Huh?
Yurius: That giant fish we saw... There's no mistaking that iconic long jaw and exquisite dorsal fin... It has to be a yellowtail marlin.
Yurius: But I haven't seen any mention of ones that size in our records. What an absolutely regal specimen! Be still, my heart!
Albert: This isn't the time or place for that! I swear, you researchers can be totally hopeless.
Yurius: Haha, sorry about that. You know how I am. I can't help it.
Vyrn: Anyway, what're we supposed to even do now?
Lyria: Yeah... That boat's gone for good.
  1. Should we try calling for help?
  2. Do we just wait for a boat to pass by?

Choose: Should we try calling for help?
Albert: And how would we go about doing that? Where would we even begin?
Yurius: Nothing short of flying would be effective, and there's only one of us here who can do that...
Vyrn: What're you lookin' at me for? I can't fly that high! I'd get tired and fall!
Yurius: Haha, I'm joking. Don't worry about it. Although I am curious about the precise limits of your ability to fly...

Choose: Do we just wait for a boat to pass by?
Albert: Normally, that wouldn't be out of question, but I highly doubt a boat would be in the vicinity of an uninhabited island.
Yurius: Quite unlikely, indeed. It wouldn't be much of an uninhabited island otherwise.

Lyria: Hmmm... Could we maybe make some kind of raft and use that to escape?
Yurius: A raft, huh? That actually isn't a bad idea. We can gather everything we need from the island, and we'd only need to go as far as the nearest inhabited island.
Albert: But that wouldn't solve all our problems!
Yurius: Oh? You think so too, my dear friend?
Vyrn: Whaddaya mean it wouldn't solve our problems? It would get us to a nearby island, right? Isn't that more than enough?
Albert: That boat was a rental one. Yurius and I borrowed it once we arrived in Auguste.
Yurius: If we were to bring the boat back past its designated return date, we'd be charged a late fee. And that wouldn't do, I'm afraid.
Albert: Regardless of our circumstances, I'd feel horrible if we were to lose the boat we had meant to return in a timely manner.
Albert: I refuse to tarnish the name of the Knights of Levin, and not returning what we borrowed would do exactly that.
Vyrn: I mean, I guess that could happen...
Albert: I rest my case. In the name of the Knights of Levin, we will retrieve the boat as humanely as possible.
Vyrn: You say that, but the boat was swallowed whole!
Lyria: Yeah... It was probably crushed by that giant fish's mouth!
Yurius: Heh heh... That's the thing about fish.
Yurius: Many of them have the tendency to forgo mastication in favor of swallowing their targets whole.
Yurius: The boat may be a bit scratched up here and there, but I believe it should be fine overall.
Albert: Hah. And from the look on your face, I presume you have some sort of plan.
Yurius: Indeed I do. I already have it all thought out. I have no doubt that this will work.
Yurius: Our first course of action is to set off to the high seas. We've got ourselves a boat to retrieve.
Determined to find their piscine target, the group scours the island in search of materials for their raft, and they depart soon after its completion.
Vyrn: (They really made a dang raft from scratch!)
Albert: Um, Yurius? Why are you dragging the tentacles through the water?
Yurius: It's a makeshift fishing line. I want to lure the marlin up to the surface.
Yurius: Summer marks the start of the breeding season, so both male and female marlin alike grow increasingly aggressive. What do you think they'd do to strange-looking tentacles?
Albert: They'd think of them as an intruder and attack... Isn't this plan a bit reckless?
Yurius: Not reckless. Wild. Like me.
Vyrn: Hey, I see it! The marlin's over there!
Yurius: Aha! Gotcha!
Albert: I'll be taking back the boat you swallowed, you monster!
Yellowtail Marlin: ...!
Albert: Hrk! This thing's way too fast!
Yurius: It appears even the Thunderswift Lord is helpless at sea.
Albert: It appears so... I suppose we need you and that mind of yours after all.
Yurius: But of course. All you need to do now is follow my plan. Are you ready?
Albert: Ready when you are! I swear on the honor of the Knights of Levin—I'll take down that fish no matter what!
Vyrn: Whoa. They're really going at it.
Lyria: I feel stronger just watching them!
Yurius: Now, Albert!
Albert: On it! Hraaah!
Albert: Skyblade!
Yellowtail Marlin: ...!
Albert: Yurius! Do your thing!
Yurius: Leave the rest to me! Destructio!
Tentacles: !
Lyria: You caught the fish using your tentacles!
Vyrn: What's goin' on? It's like I'm watchin' an epic monster battle!
Yurius: All according to plan!
Yurius: You attack with your lightning, and I'll use my tentacle to pressure the fish's midsection! That way, we can make it spit out our boat!
Albert: Wait a second! Something's off!
Lyria: Ahhh! The fish keeps thrashing around!
Vyrn: Back off! The raft's gonna break!
Yurius: Hm... It appears I didn't apply enough pressure to affect something that large. Back to the drawing board, I suppose.
Albert: Quit your analyzing! Now is not the time!
Albert: Let go of the marlin! Our raft won't hold together much longer!
Yurius: You're right. I mustn't endanger the lives of (Captain) and the others.
Tentacles: ...!
Yurius: Let's go return to the island for now. I need to come up with another plan.
Albert: Got it. I'll redirect the raft toward the island.
Vyrn: Yikes! That was a close one!
Lyria: ...!
Lyria: (Huh? I sense something... Some kind of presence... Or is it a smell?)
Lyria: (I sense... pain. Blood too. The sea— No, Leviathan is trying to tell me something... But what?)
Yurius's strategy of retrieving their boat ends in failure, leaving the group no choice but to return to the island for the time being.

A Deep-Sea Cultural Exchange: Scene 2

Lyria tells the rest of the crew about the strange smell she had noticed, and using that information, Yurius begins formulating his next plan. He comes to the conclusion that the marlin has injured the inside of its mouth. Yurius once again sets off to find the marlin, and upon doing so, carefully examines the fish. It was indeed injured and had a harpoon head lodged within its oral cavity. He successfully removes the foreign object, after which the marlin jumps incredibly far as a sign of joy and gratitude. The fish finally spits out the group's boat before waving its fin goodbye.

(Captain) and the crew challenge the mighty yellowtail marlin in hopes of retrieving their boat.
Yurius, however, underestimates the fish's tenacity, and his plans ultimately ends in failure.
The gang somehow manages to escape the rampaging sea creature, and they make their way back to the uninhabited island.
Albert: Is everybody okay?
Lyria: Y-yeah! I'm fine...
Vyrn: Yep, but man, I thought we were done for! Who would've thought that it'd go berserk like that?
Yurius: I apologize for putting you all in danger.
Vyrn: Don't worry about it! I'm sure you've got your work cut out for ya!
Albert: At the rate we're going, I'm unsure whether or not we'll make it back in time...
Yurius: Hm? Did you say something?
Albert: N-no, it's nothing.
Yurius: ...?
Lyria: Hey, everyone! I think I noticed something earlier...
Yurius: Have you now? Do tell.
Albert: The smell of... blood?
Lyria: I'm not too sure about it, but that's the feeling I got.
Lyria: I think the fish is hurt.
Yurius: Hurt, you say...
Albert: Do you think that it was perhaps injured while swallowing our ship?
Yurius: I don't think that's the case—not with how wild it was earlier.
Yurius silently nods his head, deep in thought. Suddenly, a bold grin spreads across his face.
Yurius: Thank you, Lyria. Your invaluable information has given me the opportunity to formulate a hypothesis.
With this new realization, Yurius leads the gang back to their makeshift boat, and they once again set off to sail the high seas.
Yurius: Lord Yellowtail Marlin, I beseech you! Forgive us for our impudence earlier!
Albert: Yurius! If you keep sticking your body out like that, you may attract unwanted attention.
Yurius: I'm afraid you're mistaken, old friend. Think about it.
Yurius: The fish in question has never come after us. Not once.
Albert: What are you getting at?
Lyria: Wait, you're right! The first time, it took our boat, and the second time, we're the ones who started attacking it!
Yurius: I had let my wild impulses get the best of me and thought of nothing other than to capture the fish by force—even though it had no desire to fight.
Albert: Is that so? Then why did it swallow our boat to begin with?
Vyrn: Aw, man! It's here! The marlin's here!
Yellowtail Marlin: ...!
Albert: It's keeping its distance this time.
Yurius: That's to be expected. I'm not surprised that it's erring on the side of caution after our little scuffle earlier.
The marlin slowly circles around the raft, and Yurius continues to call out to it.
Yurius: Lord Marlin, I'm sorry! Please, I'd like to extend my help to you as an apology!
Yurius: You seem to have a problem within your oral cavity, do you not?
Yellowtail Marlin: ...!
Albert: A problem... in its mouth?
Yurius: Precisely. Hence Lyria sensing blood. It's also the reason why the fish swallowed our boat.
Yurius: Come hither, Lord Marlin! I'd like to examine the insides of your mouth!
Lyria: I still don't know what's going on, but... Mister Fish, it's okay! We won't hurt you!
Yellowtail Marlin: ...
Albert: It's coming closer... And its mouth is wide open.
Lyria: All right, then. Excuse us while we check your mouth!
Vyrn: Hold on! There's a piece of metal stuck in its mouth!
Lyria: The wound is bleeding... This must be what I sensed earlier.
Yurius: I see... This looks like a harpoon head. It probably swallowed it together with some bait.
Yurius: I'm sure you understand exactly how it feels, old friend.
Albert: ...!
Albert: Hrk!
Yurius: Hm? What's the matter, my friend? You too?
Albert: Fish bone... Throat...
Albert: Is that why it swallowed the boat? To remove this metal shard?
Yurius: Oftentimes, when a fish bone gets caught in your throat, it's best to simply continue eating and drinking without giving the bone a second thought.
Yurius: This is because whatever you swallow after the fish bone will help remove the foreign object from your throat and carry it to the stomach.
Yurius: This is why certain regions and households recommend swallowing something whole as a means to clear the path from your mouth to your stomach.
Yurius: The marlin likely swallowed the boat in an attempt to dislodge the harpoon head.
Albert: I see... So that's why...
Albert: I'm sorry for laying my hands on a fellow victim. Forgive me, Sir Marlin.
Yurius: Destructio.
Tentacles: ...
Yurius: Remove that harpoon head as gently as possible.
Tentacles: ...
(Captain) and the crew learn why the yellowtail marlin had appeared before them.
They also figure out why the poor fish had swallowed their boat.
Unfortunately, all traces of the boat itself were gone.
What they gained, however, was a refreshing—albeit a bit strange—mutual understanding with the marine animal.
Yurius: All done. This is just a cursory check, but I couldn't find any other foreign objects.
Lyria: Isn't that fantastic, Mister Fish?
Vyrn: Albert's electric massage looked like it felt super relaxing too!
Albert: It doesn't even begin to make up for my wrongdoings toward the marlin. It's the least I could do.
Albert: I pray that Sir Marlin here never again meets such an unfortunate fate.
Yellowtail Marlin: ...!
Lyria: Eek! What is that?
Vyrn: The water's getting' real rough!
Albert: Crap! Everybody, grab onto the raft!
Lyria: Mister Fish...
Vyrn: It jumped super far away!
Yurius: And what a marvelous jump it was! I've never seen a jump cover such an incredible distance!
Albert: Urgh... Wait, look over there!
Lyria: Ah! Mister Fish is waving its tail at us!
Vyrn: Haha, is that its way of saying goodbye?
Albert: I think so. And look! There's something else floating in the water...
Lyria: It's the boat Mister Fish swallowed!
Vyrn: Wow, did it spit up the boat for us? That's amazin'!
Yurius: Thank you, Lord Marlin. Now we'll be able to get home without any problems.
Following this bizarre series of events, the party makes their way back home, and they somehow return the rental boat in one piece.
Their wild desert island vacation has finally come to a close.

A Deep-Sea Cultural Exchange: Scene 3

The crew hurries home as quickly as possible but are held back due to some steering difficulty. As the sky grows darker, Albert becomes increasingly anxious. Soon after, the night sky is filled with fireworks of all shapes and colors. Yurius notices how some of the fireworks are oddly patterned and deduces that Albert had something to do with it. The two smile at the fact that they had both prepared a surprise for the other then promise to spend the many years ahead of them together. Meanwhile, a crowd of tourists at the beach notice a message written into the fireworks.

Following (Captain) and the crew's strange encounter with the yellowtail marlin, they somehow retrieve their boat in one piece.
Determined to return the now battered boat, the group sets off on their journey back to Auguste.
Vyrn: It sure got dark quick.
Lyria: Mhmm... The night sea always scares me...
Yurius: Scary, indeed. The pitch-black waters give off a menacing aura—as if they'd consume you given the chance.
Yurius: But worry not, for it is none other than my dear friend who is at this boat's helm.
Yurius: Small though it may be, it would best any large ship in both form and function.
Albert: Hrk. Not again...
Vyrn: Whoa! Ya call this besting a large ship?
Yurius: What's the matter, old friend? Are you having difficulty steering?
Albert: A bit. The boat itself is intact, but it was still swallowed by a marlin.
Albert: I'd be more shocked if it came back completely undamaged. It's only natural that I have some difficulty maneuvering the boat.
Yurius: Nothing to worry over. We can take our time getting back. No need to rush.
Albert: I don't know about that...
  1. Safety first!
  2. Are you in some kinda hurry?

Choose: Safety first!
Albert: That's right. After everything we've been through, safety is of the utmost importance.
Albert: But still...

Choose: Are you in some kinda hurry?
Albert: ...!
No, not exactly...
Albert: I'd be lying if I said it was nothing, but... How should I put it?
Continue 1
Yurius: It's unlike you to be so indecisive.
Albert: Shut it. And stop trying to read my facial expressions.
Lyria: Ah, I see the shoreline!
Vyrn: Huh? How come there are so many people?
Yurius: That's quite the crowd. They're all facing the sea too. I wonder if there's some kind of event today?
Albert: We're not... going to make it, huh?
Vyrn: What's goin' on? Is our boat givin' out on us or something?
Yurius: If you need any help, Destructio and I are more than willing to lend you a hand.
Albert: No, it's not that... But thank you for the offer anyway.
Albert: (In any case, everybody's safety is my number one priority. Not everything can always go exactly according to plan...)
Albert: We're almost there.
Yurius: What is it, my friend?
Lyria: Huh? What's that noise?
Vyrn: Whoa!
Lyria: Wow! Fireworks!
Vyrn: Dang, this is amazing! We get to see them from this close up?
Yurius: Hm, I see some very unique designs among them.
Yurius: My friend... Do you, by any chance, have something to do with this?
Albert: Yes, actually. I've been working on this in secret ever since we arrived in Auguste.
Albert: I wanted to enjoy the night together with you after we had completed our work.
Albert: Although I had originally planned on watching the fireworks from the beach...
Yurius: They're stunning! Seeing them while riding the waves is fun in its own right!
Yurius: My exhaustion has up and gone, just like those fireworks! Thank you, dear friend.
Albert: Well, I'm content as long as you're happy.
Yurius: To be quite frank, I'm impressed you went this far to prepare a surprise for me.
Yurius: One way or another, we've grown alike, you and I...
Albert: I suppose that happens when you've been together for as long as we have.
Yurius: Been together long, huh...
Yurius: For better or worse, we'll be stuck with each other for a while yet.
Albert: For better or worse? What are you talking about? We're stuck with each other for better and only for better.
Yurius: Heh. As blunt as always, old friend.
Yurius: But I wouldn't have it any other way. I hope you stay by my side both now and forevermore.
Albert: ...!
Albert: Absolutely.
Meanwhile, over by the shore...
Tourist 1: Wow! This is so cool! They're so pretty!
Tourist 2: I see fireworks that look like alcohol and hot springs!
Tourist 3: Huh? What about those ones? They look like letters of some sort.
Tourist 4: Impressive. Whoever crafted those fireworks must be quite the skilled pyrotechnician.
Tourist 4: But given the angle, I doubt you'd be able to make out the message from anywhere other than this beach.
Tourist 4: The fireworks normally expand in the shape of a sphere, so only the most highly skilled artisans can create ones that form a plane. Not to mention the limited viewing angles...
Tourist 3: Hmmm? So what does it say?
Tourist 3: Here's... to many... more years... together... my dear... friend?
Tourist 1: What does that even mean?
Tourist 2: Who knows? But it feels nice reading the message.
A multitude of bright fireworks continue to light up the night sky over a sea of black.
Over at the beach, crowds of tourists read the words strewn through the air, but none understand the message's true meaning.
Nonetheless, the message conveys a feeling of warmth and happiness to all present, and they enjoy a night full of joy and laughter.
