Summer Evening Bloom
Feeling groggy from the summer heat, Vania and the gang decide to attend a nearby evening festival. She picks out a nice yukata before heading over to have some fun. At the end of the festival, Vania sees fireworks for the first time and insists that they hold a similar festival in Medvecia. The group agree to the idea, and they start thinking about what they can do to attract people to the now open island of vampires.
Vania: Urgh...
Vania: (Captain)... It's so hot... I feel like I'm gonna melt...
It's a hot summer day, and Vania topples face-forward into (Captain)'s arms.
Seeing the droplets of sweat dribble down her pale cheeks and soaking her clothes, Vyrn inquires Vania about her behavior.
Vyrn: If you're that hot, why do ya keep holding on to (Captain)? Let go already!
Vania: I don't wanna! I'm not letting (Captain) go!
Vania: It's sooo hooot! Make it stoooop!
Vyrn: I swear, the girl only thinks about herself!
Lyria: Wh-what should we do?
Choose: Wanna go to an evening festival?
Vania: Evening... festival?
Lyria: It's a festival where people wear yukatas and has all sorts of food stalls and other attractions that help you cool off!
Vania: Whoa! Yukata? You mean those really cute and breezy ones?
Vania: A festival sounds super fun! Let's gooo!
Vyrn: Heh, not a bad idea! Didn't those guys who gave us our last quest say it'd be around here?
Vania: You're so smart, (Captain)! Just for that, I'll let you pat my head!
Vyrn: Let? But you're asking for it!
C'mon, (Captain)! You're not supposed to listen to her! She's spoiled enough as it is!
Choose: How about we all take a nap?
Vania: Blegh... It's too hot to sleep now...
Vania: But I guess I'll sleep if you sleep...
Lyria: Wait, you can't sleep now! You could get heatstroke with how hot it is...
Vania: Yeah, but I'm tiiired.
Lyria: Oh, I know! Why don't we go out?
Vania: I said I'm tiiired... Besides, it's too hot outside!
Lyria: That's exactly why! They're holding an evening festival nearby!
Vania: What's that?
Vyrn: It's a kinda summer festival! You can take a break from the heat by wearin' a yukata. It's really fun!
Vania: Wooow! Yukata instead of swimsuits? Sounds interesting!
Vania: Actually, I don't think I'm tired anymore!
Vania: Nice thinking, Lyria! C'mere, time for a hug!
Lyria: Huh? But Vania, it's hot here...
Vyrn: Now she's stuck to Lyria... Isn't there an animal that does that?

Vania: All right, first things's first! Let's go shopping for my yukata!
With Vania now convinced, (Captain) and the others head toward the town where the festival was to be held.
After (Captain) and the gang pick out the perfect yukata for Vania, she rushes to change into her new outfit.
Vania: Ta-da! How do I look in a yukata?
Lyria: I think the dress is really cute! And the frills make you look like a princess!
Vania: Heh-heh! It's only natural that I look stunning. I am, after all, the rightful queen of Medvecia.
Vyrn: Oh right, I totally forgot about that...
Vania: Hmph! Bloodkin, the lizard's being mean to me! Do something about it!
Vyrn: My bad... I was just kiddin'.
Anyway, enough about that. We should hurry up and get going.
Vania: Okay, but let's all hold hands while we go!
Vania grabs (Captain) by the hand, and the gang begins exploring the festival.
Vania: Evening festivals are so cool! They have so many yummy things, like cotton candy and ramune! Ooh, and candy apples too!
Vyrn: Those all sound good, but the candy apples are definitely the best!
Vania: I wish I brought Malinda with me... She would've loved it here!
Lyria: Where is Malinda anyway? It's rare to see you without her...
Vania: U-ummm... It's like... Uhhh...
(Captain) looks inquisitively at Vania, whose voice appeared have gotten stuck in her throat.
Vania: Huh? What do you mean? I'm totally fine!
Lyria: Ummm... You don't look very fine...
Vania: I'm telling you! It's nothing!
Vania: Oh, hey! What's that thingy?
Vyrn: It's a water balloon fishin' game! Give it a try! You'll learn faster that way.
Vyrn: Hey, Mister! One round of the fishin' game, please!
Shopkeeper: Sure thing! Good luck!
Vania: This thing's tiny... Can you really grab a balloon with this?
Vyrn: Watch and learn! Let your string down like this... Then, when the time's just right...
Vyrn: Hiya!
Vania: You dropped it... You suck at this, don't you?
Vyrn: I-it's harder than it looks! Just try it... You'll see!
Vania: Heheheh! This'll be a piece of cake! One round for me too, Mister!
Shopkeeper: Have at it!
Vania: Okay, so... I lower the string... And then...
Vania: Gotcha!
Vania: Whaaat... How'd I miss?
Vyrn: See? Harder than it looks!
Vania: Get one for me, (Captain)!
Hearing Vania's cries for help, (Captain) agrees to give it a try and lowers the line for the third time.
Vania: You did it! You're so good at this, (Captain)!
Vania: Unlike the lizard...
Vyrn: Hmph! You weren't able to get one either!
Vania: But (Captain) got one for me!
Hey, (Captain)! Get me another balloon!
Lyria: ...
After much pestering from Vania's end, (Captain) finally gives in to her request and fishes up a huge number of the balloons.
The gang then goes on to exhaust the festival's entertainment options, from target shooting to lottery drawings.
Vania: Eheheh! I got some new stuffed toys and a bunch of snacks too!
Vania's arms are filled to the brim with a mountain of toys, food, and other various prizes.
Vyrn: Don't ya think you got a bit too much? I started feelin' bad for the stall attendants toward the end there...
Vania: It's not too much! I need enough to give everybody a souvenir!
Lyria: So those are souvenirs?
Vania: Uh-huh! One for Malinda, one for Feldrac, one for Veight...
Vania: I need some for the other vampires at Medvecia... and for Amazuma and Varga too!
Vania: I can't keep all the fun for myself! That isn't fair... I have to share it with everybody!
Vyrn: So that's why... Hehe, you were thinkin' of everybody back home! I thought you wanted to keep that all for yourself.
Vania: Of course I was! I think too, y'know...
Vania: I think about everybody back home... I do...
Lyria: Vania...
(Captain) and Lyria notice that there was something on Vania's mind, and they decide to probe her for more details.
However, their attempt to learn more is soon cut short.
Vania: Huh? Wh-what's that?
Vyrn: Oh, those are fireworks! They're like the festival's grand finale! Lots of people come here just to see the 'em.
Vania: Whoa... Fireworks...
Vania murmurs to herself as she gazes at the dazzling light show playing out before her.
Her eyes sparkle at the sight of magnificent colors filling the night sky above.
Vania: So pretty...
Vania: The outside world is amazing... I never thought I'd see something this beautiful out here...
Vania continues to stare above, tightly grasping onto (Captain)'s yukata.
Vania: I want one!
Lyria: Hm?
Vania: I want one of those!
Lyria: Huh? Are you talking about the fireworks?
Vyrn: That might be a bit hard, even for us...
Vania: But there's no doubt about it!
Vyrn: No doubt about what?
Vania: Um...
Vania: Uh... So... you know how I said I was fine before?
Vania: Well, I was acting a bit... defensive.
Vyrn: That's rare of you ... Did somethin' happen?
Vania: It's like... Everybody in Medvecia is doing great! They're trying so hard—all of them! They're doing what they can do live!
Vania: Before, they used to say things like "We're ruined!" or "Who cares about the outside world?" But now, they're really trying!
Lyria: That's wonderful! They really are doing great, aren't they?
Vania: And it's all thanks to Feldrac, Veight, and the other vampires! Even Malinda and other people from outside are helping!
Vania: But not me... I'm supposed to be a princess, but I'm not doing anything...
Vyrn: Hold on. That's not true at all!
Lyria: Yeah! You're the reason why they've all changed in the first place!
Vania: Eheheh, you're all so nice...
Vania: Still... I wanna help everybody else even more! I wanna do what I can to be useful too...
Vania: But it's so hot! Just thinking about it makes my head go all fuzzy... I dunno what to do...
Vania: And before I could figure anything out, I found myself with you all...
Vyrn: I see... So that's why you've been getting (Captain) to coddle you all this time...
Vania: No, that's separate. (Captain) is my bloodkin, that's all.
Vyrn: Separate? Whatcha even mean?
Vania: Doesn't matter! All I wanted to say is... I wanna do more to help. So I need those fireworks! I wanna bring them to Medvecia!
Vania: I wanna have our own evening festival! I want everybody to cool off like we did today! I want them all to have as much fun as I did!
Lyria: Vania... You're so thoughtful...
Lyria: Okay! Sounds like a plan. We'll do what we can do help!
Vyrn: Yeah! Let's have a super fun evening festival in Medvecia too!
Vania: Eheheh... Thanks, everybody.
Childish and self-centered though she may be, Vania truly cares for her people.
The others may not have been able to tell, but (Captain) could see that hidden beneath her cute appearance was a regal character worthy of being a queen.
