The Dragon Weeps before Daybreak - Chapter 1: A Distant Dawn - Episode 2

The crew arrives at the meeting with Siegfried, who has lost his eyesight due to what he believes to be a curse. Upon learning that the cloaked man used the same technique as Gunther to transform, the others suspect that the cabal could be pulling the strings and vow to work together.

Royal Guard: Forgive my intrusion, Your Majesty, but (Captain)'s crew and Siegfried have just arrived. It seems there's been an incident...
King Carl: ...?
Very well. Let them enter.
Having obtained the king's permission, the guard bows once before opening the door to the visitors waiting outside.
Upon seeing a familiar figure being led by the hands of (Captain) and Lyria, Lancelot and Percival gasp.
Lancelot: Siegfried! What happened to you!
Siegfried: Ah, is that you, Lancelot? Sorry, my vision's been compromised.
King Carl: How can this be? What could have possibly caused a man of your stature to suffer such injuries?
Siegfried: I apologize for my unsightly appearance, Your Majesty. Allow me to explain...
After taking a moment to collect his thoughts, Siegfried launches into an explanation of the incident in the remote village.
He describes everything from the dragon attacks to the physical abnormalities he had personally experienced during the battle.
Percival: So you received that wound and the marks on your face during your fight with the dragon?
Siegfried: That's right. At first I thought my symptoms were caused by the dragon's poison, but apparently not.
Siegfried: My eyes themselves are actually fine. And normally, an injury like this would have mended quickly thanks to the power of Fafnir's blood.
Siegfried: According to the physician, the reason my eyesight hasn't returned and my wounds haven't healed is likely due to some sort of curse.
Siegfried: And I have one more thing to report.
Siegfried: There's something that's been weighing on my mind regarding the cloaked man who led the dragon attack on the village.
King Carl: What do you mean?
Siegfried: The spell he cast to transform into a dragon was most likely the same technique that Gunther used.
Lancelot: ...!
As I recall, Merlin was the one who taught Gunther that magic, correct?
Lancelot: If this man learned that spell from Merlin in the same way...
Lancelot: Then it's possible that Merlin could be at the helm of the dragon attacks occurring in Feendrache.
Percival: If that's the case, then it wouldn't be at all surprising if the cabal was pulling the strings behind Albanorum's sudden actions.
Percival: I'll go back to Wales and review the timing of Albanorum's movements in relation to the appearance of the dragons.
Percival: If the cabal is controlling not only the dragons, but the country of Albanorum itself...
Percival: It could lead to an all-out war involving both Feendrache and Wales.
Lyria: A war? If that happens, then the citizens here...
Percival: Don't look so worried. That's why our three nations are working together—to prevent that outcome.
Percival: We won't let the cabal have their way. It's our duty to protect our countries and their people.
Vyrn: Heh. Well, if you say so, I'm sure everything'll be A-OK!
Seemingly reassured by Percival's powerful words, Lyria nods earnestly.
Florence: Since Dalmore doesn't share a border with Albanorum, we are unfortunately unable to directly analyze its movements.
Florence: However, I will once again verify whether there have been any dragon sightings within Dalmore.
King Carl: Very well. So long as we have the cooperation of Wales and Dalmore, we should be able to put an end to this war before it begins.
King Carl: I ask for your assistance in ensuring the continued peace of our people.
Who could be seeking to plunge Feendrache into conflict?
Though they face countless unknowns, the three countries remain wholly united against their common enemy.
