Where the Flowers Bloom

While spending time off at the beach together, Sturm and Drang find a worried-looking girl alone. They learn that she is searching for her missing brother, and offer to help her.

Sturm has joined Drang for a day of fun in the sun at Auguste.
She let him decide their itinerary for the day. However...
Drang: Oh, Stuuurm! Over here!
Sturm: ...
Drang: You've got to try the Blue Auguste! They only make so many per day!
Sturm: Relax. No need to get riled up over a drink.
Drang: But we still need to swim in the ocean and build sandcastles and check out the food stalls!
Drang: And then after that we can play some beach volleyball or perhaps some aquatic sports before the fireworks tonight, and—
Sturm: How old are you again?
Drang: Age is but a state of mind, Sturm! I'm merely being true to myself.
Drang: So let's make this summer one for the books! Whaddaya sa—
Drang: Oh? That girl...
Sturm: Is she looking for something... or someone?
A young girl can be seen walking along the beach, anxiously looking around.
Drang: Maybe she's lost. That's our cue, wouldn't you say?
The two nod in agreement before approaching the girl.
Drang: What's wrong, little girl? Looking for your mommy and daddy?
Young Girl: Oh...
Sturm: Don't worry. We're not... suspicious or bad people. I think.
Drang: If you want someone to trust you, it helps to at least have a little eye contact.
Sturm: Shut it, you.
Young Girl: Hehe. I think... you both seem like good people to me.
The girl relaxes a little and tells the two about her situation.
Drang: Aha, so it wasn't your parents, but your little brother you were looking for.
Young Girl: Yeah... My mom and dad said they'd come back for us when it starts getting dark, so I was playing with him, but...
Drang: Oh no... He must've wandered off while you weren't looking, huh?
Young Girl: I've looked everywhere for him...
Young Girl: What if he's... Ngh...
Sturm: ...
Sturm: Where was the last place you saw him?
Young Girl: Huh?
Sturm: I'll help. You'll cover more ground with more eyes, right?
Drang: Count me in too! I'm actually rather talented at finding people, you know.
Sturm: But what about your plans?
Drang: It's fine!
Young Girl: But... why are you helping me?
Sturm: Sometimes you don't need a reason to help—this one's on us.
Drang: If I didn't know better, I'd say (Captain) and the crew are rubbing off on you.
Sturm: Don't be stupid...
Sturm: A basic description should be enough—the sooner we start searching, the better.
Young Girl: R-right! And thank you!
Sturm and Drang join the girl in her search for her brother.
Their laid-back schedule is now a race against time as they check every nook and cranny of the beach for the missing boy.

Where the Flowers Bloom: Scene 2

Despite their efforts, Sturm and Drang are unable to find the young girl's brother. Sturm suddenly gets an idea and begins making her way toward the relatively empty cliffsides near the beach. There they find the girl's brother, securing a spot for them to watch the evening fireworks together.

Even as the sun begins to set, the beach remains crowded.
Sturm and Drang continue their search, but are unable to find their target.
Young Girl: Why can't we find him? We've looked through the water, the beach, the food stalls...
Young Girl: What if he drowned? Or what if he was kidnapped by bad people?
Drang: Or... perhaps he's playing a game of hide-and-seek, waiting for us to find him!
Drang: Let's try again, shall we? Surely we've missed a spot somewhere.
The girl's expression grows more worried as the search continues to no avail.
Young Girl: Sniff... If only I'd been more careful and held onto his hand...
Young Girl: Oh no... What if I never see him again?
Sturm: ...
Sturm: It'll be all right. We'll find him no matter what.
Drang: ...!
Sturm...
Despite the appearances they put on for the girl, the two are hardened mercenaries all too familiar with adversity.
They are sharply aware that if they still couldn't find him after that search, there is a good chance that the girl's fears may come true.
Drang: (No matter what, huh? But what if...)
Sturm: (You don't have to finish that thought—I know.)
Sturm: (But still, I...)
Young Girl: Do you mean it?
Sturm: Yeah, but you need to be strong, okay?
Sturm ruffles the little girl's hair in an attempt to reassure her.
Sturm: (Sheesh... Those idiots on the crew really have rubbed off on me.)
Drang joins Sturm in her efforts, giving the girl a big smile.
Drang: We'll be sure to find him soon! Any minute...
Drang: But where should we look next? We've already looked around the beach a few times now...
Sturm: ...
Sturm: (Yeah, he's not where he should be.)
Sturm: (Something about this seems familiar...)
Sturm's Siblings: Sturm!
Sturm: I've got an idea.
Sturm begins making her way toward a different area, away from the sandy beaches.
Drang: The cliffside? Not where I'd expect to find too many people...
Young Girl: ...!
The girl suddenly jolts in front of them toward a young boy.
Young Boy: Sis? What are you doing here?
Young Girl: That's my question, you big dummy!
Young Boy: What do you mean? We're gonna watch the fireworks tonight, right?
Young Boy: So I wanted to surprise you and find a place where we can get the best view.
Young Girl: The best view for... fireworks?
Young Boy: Yeah! From here we'll be able to see everything perfectly!
The girl plops onto the ground, simultaneously relieved and overwhelmed.
Young Girl: Oh... So you... That's why you...
Young Girl: I've been looking for you all day... I thought... I thought I'd never see you again...
Girl's Little Brother: Sis? I didn't... I...
As her brother crouches down, she embraces him with all of the might she can muster.
Young Girl: I don't care about any stupid fireworks! All that matters is that we stick together!
Girl's Little Brother: Sis!
Girl's Little Brother: Waaaugh! I'm sorryyy!
Sturm: As long as they stick together, huh?
Drang: All's well that ends well, wouldn't you say?
Sturm: Yeah.
Sturm and Drang watch over the two siblings during their emotional reunion.
The sun, now dipping into the ocean horizon, has enveloped the sky in a tender orange.

Where the Flowers Bloom: Scene 3

When asked by Drang how she knew where to look for the girl's brother, Sturm recalls a similar incident from her childhood. While watching the fireworks with him later in the evening, she takes in the joy of standing next to someone cherished to her, and makes a decision to visit her siblings.

Sturm and Drang have joined the crowd that has gathered to see the fireworks.
Drang: The show's about to start, Sturm! Isn't it exciting?
Sturm: It's too crowded... How am I supposed to get a clear line of sight like this?
Drang: You don't need to worry about seeing everything—it's all about taking in the atmosphere!
Sturm: Is that so?
After finding the young girl's brother, Sturm and Drang brought them to their parents.
Afterward, the girl invited the two of them to join her family in watching the show from the secluded cliffside spot.
Drang: You were the one that told them to enjoy the show without our intrusion, right?
Sturm: After her brother went through the trouble of saving the spot for his family, it's the least I could do.
Drang: Hehe... You're a good person.
Sturm: You would've done the same thing.
Drang smiles, looking up at the evening twilight.
Drang: I've been wondering myself, actually... How'd you know where to find him?
Sturm: It... reminded me of something that happened to me a long time ago.
Sturm: I was playing hide-and-seek with my siblings at a park one day.
Sturm: They'd hide in the playground fixtures, or in the bushes, so I'd always check the usual spots. We played it all the time.
Sturm: But one day, I couldn't find them at all.
Young Sturm: They're not here... Did they pull a fast one on me and go home?
Young Sturm: Well, as long as they didn't go into the woods...
Sturm: Monsters were often sighted in a nearby forest. I didn't like the odds, so I went to make sure.
Sturm: My intuition was right. I found them playing in a meadow by the forest entrance.
Young Sturm: What are you guys doing? You shouldn't even be here!
Sturm: As I ran up to scold them, I noticed they were all holding something.
Sturm: A bouquet made of freshly picked flowers.
Sturm: They noticed I was coming and quickly cobbled it together before handing it to me.
Sturm's Siblings: Happy birthday, Sturm!
Sturm: They were picking flowers as a present for my birthday.
Drang: So it was meant to be a surprise.
Drang: And that's how you came up with the idea.
Sturm nodded silently, turning her attention to the night sky above as well.
Drang: So, Sturm... What happened after they gave you the flowers?
Sturm: They're taking their time with those fireworks, huh?
Drang: If I didn't know better, I'd say you're ignoring me on purpose.
Sturm: Shut it.
Drang: You don't have to answer if you don't want to.
Drang: I'm sure it's a very precious memory to you, given the look on your face right now.
Sturm: I didn't give you permission to look at my face.
Drang: Oopsie. You got it boss.
Sturm: And wipe that smile off your face!
In that moment, their conversation is interrupted by the sound of fireworks.
Drang: Oho! Look at that one!
Sturm: ...
One after the other, a kaleidoscope of colors illuminates the evening sky in splendor.
Drang: Say, don't fireworks and the night sky go together sorta like you and I do?
Sturm: You mean how you're loud and disruptive like fireworks?
Drang: Perhaaaps, but I was just thinking how we're a perfect combination!
Drang: You're free to decide which one of us would be which, of course.
Sturm: ...
Drang: I'm really glad we were able to spend some time off together and just, you know, watch some fireworks.
Sturm: ...
Drang: Sturm? Hello?
Sturm: Did you say something? I couldn't hear you over the fireworks.
Drang: No way! Such a wasted moment...
Perfectly aware of Drang's shoulder slumping over her own, she keeps her eyes on the fireworks show instead.
Sturm: (The flowers I received on that day...)
Sturm's Siblings: Happy birthday, Sturm!
Young Sturm: Thank you, guys... It's lovely.
Young Sturm: But—and I'm just going to say this once, so listen—the greatest present you could ever give me is staying by my side.
Sturm: (Me too, Drang. Just having you by my side here is more than I could ask for...)
Sturm: Thanks... for bringing me here.
Drang: Sorry, did you say something, Sturm?
Sturm: Nothing.
Sturm: Actually, I remembered somewhere I wanted to go. Mind if I extend the vacation for some personal days?
Drang: Of course! Safe travels, milady.
Sturm: Thanks.
Drang doesn't need to ask for details. The two share a bond forged through mutual respect.
The fireworks continue to dazzle and awe the onlookers, as if creating a bouquet for the night sky.
Sturm: ...
Back in her quarters later that night, Sturm has been writing responses to her younger siblings' letters.
Finishing the last one, she stretches her arms once before heading to bed.
Sturm: I hope I can say it right next time I see them...
Sturm: I'm back.
Sturm takes those two words to bed with her, repeating them to herself.
Satisfied with her performance or not, eventually she lets the gentle hold of sleep take her.
