The End of the Chase

The leader of Razia's knight order asks Alphiana if she's ready to stand against the Va'hen sect and her father. After Alphiana expresses her commitment, Razia is ordered to escort and keep an eye on her at all times. Alphiana asks Razia if they can go visit their mother's grave.

The crew takes Alphiana to Razia's country.
Parting ways with the skyfarers temporarily, Razia and Alphiana proceed to meet with the head of her order.
Razia: That concludes my report.
Knight Captain: I see... So that's what happened...
Knight Captain: First of all, I would like to commend you on your valiant efforts, Knight Razia.
Knight Captain: And also...
The captain turns toward Alphiana.
Knight Captain: Welcome to our country. You've done a great job of making it all the way here, Alphiana.
Alphiana: I am grateful for your protection.
Alphiana lowers her head gracefully in front of the captain.
Knight Captain: Before we proceed, I must confirm something with you, Alphiana.
Knight Captain: You sought protection from us. Do you understand what that entails?
Alphiana: It means going against the Zeyens, correct?
Alphiana: I understand your cause. But allow me to make one thing clear.
Alphiana: The Zeyen faith is not evil in my eyes.
Knight Captain: Well, well.
Alphiana: However, the Va'hen sect needs to be brought down.
Alphiana: I don't want to see anyone else sacrificed because of them.
Knight Captain: Hm. In other words, you won't raise a hand against the Zeyens despite seeking our protection.
Knight Captain: But you'll take action when it comes to the Va'hen sect.
Alphiana: That is correct.
Knight Captain: Interesting. Let me ask you another question.
Knight Captain: Turning against the Va'hen means turning against your own father.
Knight Captain: Are you committed to do so?
Alphiana: If I wasn't committed, I wouldn't have rebelled against him in the first place.
Alphiana answers with firm resolve in her voice.
The captain lets out a chuckle while looking at her determined expression.
Knight Captain: Heh, you're just like your sister.
Alphiana: Really?
Knight Captain: That's right. Razia showed me the exact same face a long time ago.
Knight Captain: Very well. This is how we'll proceed with our plans.
Knight Captain: Knight Razia.
Razia: Yes!
Razia straightens up and salutes.
Knight Captain: Your new orders are as follows—you will keep an eye on Alphiana at all times.
Knight Captain: If you see even so much as the slightest hint of suspicious activity, you will put an end to it with your own hands.
Razia: What? You're leaving Alphiana with me?
Knight Captain: Do you object?
Razia: No, it's not that...
Razia: Are you sure? Alphiana and I are related by blood. What if my alliance were to sway?
Knight Captain: Nonsense. There's nothing in this world that would convince you to work with the Va'hen.
Knight Captain: The dark flames of vengeance burn in the depths of your heart.
Knight Captain: Your resolve is steel—I know that better than anyone else.
Razia: ...
Knight Captain: Alphiana, thank you for sharing information with us. But you haven't fully gained our trust yet.
Knight Captain: That's why we need to put you under surveillance. That is final.
Alphiana: I understand. I appreciate your generosity for allowing my sister to watch over me.
Knight Captain: It's not an act of generosity.
Knight Captain: If you betray us, the responsibility will fall upon your sister's shoulders.
Knight Captain: Do you understand what that means?
Alphiana: I best watch my steps for my sister's sake, correct?
Knight Captain: Exactly.
Alphiana: I'll make sure to do so.
Razia: Thank you for putting together this plan of action, Captain.
Razia bows her head deeply in front of the captain, feeling overcome with emotion.
The captain turns away, as if to avoid looking at her.
Knight Captain: Save your thanks. It's to protect our country.
Knight Captain: There's no greater bond than family, which is why we should take full advantage of it.
Knight Captain: That's all I have to say. Dismissed.
Razia: Excuse me.
The sisters bow their heads before exiting the room.
Vyrn: Hey, welcome back guys. How'd it go?
Razia recounts how her conversation went with the captain to the crew.
Vyrn: Dang, are ya gonna be okay watchin' over your sis all the time, Scrappy?
Razia: I've got this!
Vyrn: I just can't shake off this bad feelin' for some reason...
Lyria: It'll be okay. We're here to support too!
Vyrn: I suppose so... But ya know how Scrappy's always trippin' and fallin' over everythin'...
Razia: What do you mean always?
Razia: Alphie's the clumsy one, not me!
Alphiana: Razia!
Razia: You know I'm right. Father and Mother always said you were always getting into trouble.
Alphiana: They said I was still better than you though!
Razia and Alphiana start bickering about who's the clumsier one between them.
The crew can't help but feel anxious as they watch the scene unfold.
Vyrn: Are they really gonna be okay?
Lyria: Um... Probably... I hope...
Vyrn: I hope so too...
(Captain) shrugs and gives a defeated smile.
Vyrn: Whatever, I guess it's fine. Anyway, what are your plans from here on out, Scrappy?
Razia: The captain told me to be on standby for now.
Razia: I'm sure the superiors are currently working up a plan. We're going to wait for orders.
Alphiana: Um... Razia... If you have time, there's actually a place I'd like to visit...
Razia: Where do you want to go? Are you, perhaps... talking about Mother's grave?
Alphiana: Yes.
Razia: Now that you mention it, the last time you visited her was... Well...
Razia: All right. Let's buy something for Mother in town first before going.
Razia: I'm sure we can find some of her favorite sweets.
Razia: (Captain), what about your plans?
  1. We'll tag along.

Choose: We'll tag along.

Vyrn: Yup. We're worried you might get into some trouble along the way.
Lyria: And we'd also like to go pay respects to your mother.
(Captain) nods in agreement.
Razia: I see. Then let's get going.
Razia turns around and begins walking.
(Captain) and the crew follow her from behind.

The End of the Chase: Scene 2

While shopping for supplies before visiting the cemetery, Razia's clumsiness gets her caught in another accident. When Alphiana asks why the town is not the same as she remembers, Razia sadly recounts the Va'hen attacks that destroyed everything and killed many of their maids and friends. Overwhelmed with sadness, the sisters arrive at their mother's grave and encounter their father.

The crew agrees on paying a visit to Razia's mother's grave.
Before they go to the cemetery, they decide to stop in town to purchase some gifts.
Staff 1: Here you are, Razia. Sorry to keep you waiting. Umm, you can hold onto this...
The staff member gives a warm smile before handing a bag of sweets over to (Captain).
Razia: Hey, why are you giving it to (Captain)?
Staff 1: I wouldn't want you to trip and fall and make a mess out of the sweets before you even get to the grave.
Razia: Why would I do that!
Staff 2: Now, now, Razia. Make sure you walk caaarefully on the sidewalk, okay?
Staff 2: Oh, and don't go near any ropes, you hear?
Staff 2: You know what'll happen! Things will get messy!
Staff 3: Razia, I handed the bouquet of flowers to that nice person over there.
Staff 3: I don't want you to crumple the flowers before you arrive at the cemetery.
Razia: You guys... Why doesn't anyone trust me!
Staff 3: Why? Oh Razia sweetie, you're a magnet for accidents! That's why—
Villager: Help! Someone stop that dog!
Everyone spins around and sees a giant dog bounding toward them.
Razia firmly steps on the leash to stop the dog, but the leash wraps itself tightly around her feet.
Razia: Wha!
The leash forms a tight knot, knocking Razia off her feet.
Meanwhile, the dog continues to barrel its way down the street without a care in the world.
Razia: Crap! W-why is it so strong!
Razia: Gaaah!
Alphiana: Razia!
Staff 3: Somehow, it always ends up like this. I'm glad I gave you guys the flowers earlier.
Lyria: Ahaha...
Vyrn: I'm not surprised Scrappy gets warned every time she comes shoppin' here.
Staff 3: Razia's accidents have made a name for themselves.
Staff 3: That's why we always tell her to be careful, even though it hasn't worked even once.
Vyrn: Well, that's Scrappy for ya.
Staff 3: If only she'd acknowledge her own clumsiness...
Lyria: Knowing Razia, I doubt she'll ever do that.
Vyrn: Yep...
Alphiana: U-um, instead of talking about that, we should follow her!
Alphiana: She'll end up getting lost at this rate...
Vyrn: Nah, she'll be fine. It's her own town.
Staff 3: But this is Razia we're talking about. I wouldn't put it past her to get lost.
Vyrn & Lyria: ...
  1. Let's go find her!

Choose: Let's go find her!

Worried, (Captain) and company rush off to track down Razia.
A while later, the crew reunites with Razia.
After returning the dog to its owner, (Captain) and everyone continue their shopping trip.
Razia: That was horrible...
Lyria: Ahaha... Are you okay?
Razia: I'm okay. I didn't train for all those years to get injured by something so small.
Razia: Anyway, looks like we've bought everything. Let's go to Mother's—
Alphiana: ...
Razia: What's wrong, Alphie? Did something happen?
A mixture of loneliness and pensiveness clouds Alphiana's face.
Razia tilts her head in confusion.
Alphiana: Well... I wanted to look at the town, so I asked (Captain) and the crew if it would be okay for me to look at their past.
Alphiana: They told me that it was okay to take a peek...
Alphiana: But what I saw was completely different from what I remembered.
Razia: Oh, so that's what happened...
Razia: Due to riots caused by the Va'hen, the town suffered great damage.
Razia: Everything had to be rebuilt from the ground up.
Alphiana: I see...
Alphiana: Um, Razia... Do you know what happened to my friends and the maids?
Alphiana: If they're still in town, then I'd like to visit—
Razia: Well...
Razia stops in her tracks as the words get caught in her throat.
Alphiana: Razia?
Razia: They're... not here anymore.
Alphiana: I had a feeling that they moved out of town...
Razia: No, it's not that. They all... died in the riots.
Alphiana: What? No... Please tell me you're lying.
Razia: It's the truth.
Alphiana: What... What happened?
Razia: That day... They targeted the family members of people who were important to this country.
Razia: All of them were taken hostage.
Razia: They tried to force people to join the Va'hen in exchange for their family's lives.
Razia: Besides that, I'm not exactly sure what happened.
Razia: But what I can say for sure is that the Va'hen killed all of your friends and our maids.
Razia: That's all.
Alphiana: ...!
Vyrn: It's amazing how you got out alive...
Razia: One of the maids sacrificed herself to save me. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be standing here.
Alphiana: But... I thought Father ordered people to come and rescue you...
Razia: They probably didn't know who I was. I was wearing a maid uniform at the time.
Vyrn: Huh? But Scrappy, I thought ya came from a wealthy family. Why were ya wearin' a maid uniform?
Razia: I wanted to cheer up Father by making sweets using one of Mother's special recipes.
Razia: I decided to make them together with the maids.
Razia: My clothes got dirty in the process, so I borrowed one of their uniforms.
Vyrn: Hang on, so you're sayin' that if they found ya, then ya would've been with ya dad and Alphiana now?
Razia: Exactly.
Alphiana: I can't believe that happened...
The color drains out of Alphiana's face as she falls down to her knees.
Razia: Everyone that you wanted to see are resting in the same area as our mother.
Razia: If you want, I can show you...
Alphiana: Please... Take me there.
Razia quietly nods and motions for everyone to follow her.
The crew is almost at Razia's mother's grave.
Razia: Just a bit further. My mother is over—
Razia: ...!
Alphiana: Razia?
Vyrn: Hey, what are ya doin'? We just bought those flowers...
Razia stands stock still as she looks into the distance.
The crew follow their line of sight and find a man praying alone in front of a grave.
Lyria: Umm... Do you know him?
Razia: Yes...
Voice thick with rage, Razia lifts her cannonlance and points it at the man.
Vyrn: Scrappy! What are ya doin'! Put that—
Razia: I never thought I'd meet you here.
Razia: Finally... We finally meet again, Father!
As the man turns his head around, shock plasters across his face.

The End of the Chase: Scene 3

Razia draws her weapon against her father Rhador, but he weeps with joy when he sees his daughter alive and well. He reveals the legacy that the Va'hen has been searching for and announces his intention to offer Alphiana to it in order to change the past and restore his family's happiness. The sisters vehemently refuse and begin fighting against him.

With her cannonlance positioned and ready to fire, Razia glares at her father with hatred burning in her eyes.
The crew stands behind, watching with apprehension.
Vyrn: Did you just say "Father?"
Razia: Yeah. This is the man... The Va'hen's ringleader, Rhador.
Rhador: Is that... Is that you, Razia? You're... alive?
Razia: I dug myself out of hell... just to end you and the Va'hen with my own hands.
Rhador: I see... You're alive... I'm so glad... I'm so relieved...
Despite Razia's apparent vehemence, tears of joy start streaming down Rhador's face.
Razia: What the hell do you mean you're glad! Don't mess with me!
Razia: Do you understand what you put me through?
Razia: Do you understand how many tears have been shed because of your actions?
Razia: I swear... I'll never forgive you!
Razia readies her finger on the cannonlance's trigger.
Rhador: Please stop, Razia.
Rhador: I don't want to fight against my own precious family because changing the past will solve all of our issues now.
Rhador: So please, put away your weapon.
Razia: ...!
Do you even hear yourself right now?
Razia: How many more needless sacrifices will it take to achieve your goals?
Razia: What do you mean, precious family! You're the one who abandoned me!
Razia: And you're the one who started this fight in the first place!
Rhador: What? No, you're wrong—
Razia: You didn't even come to check if I was dead or alive during the riots.
Razia: Rescuing me never once crossed your mind.
Razia: And you were sure that even if I was alive, the country would finish me off anyway...
Razia: Because the present never mattered to you. You thought that changing the past would bring me back.
Razia throws his diary that she recovered at him.
Razia: Do you understand what it's like to be left behind?
Razia: No, I'm sure you don't. You thought that as long as you could change the past, everything would be fine.
Rhador: I'm so sorry, Razia. But make no mistake—I've always loved you.
Rhador: This is proof.
The moment Rhador snaps his fingers, the space in the area begins to warp, and a strange object appears behind him.
Razia: What... is that...
Rhador: This is the treasure that the Va'hen have been seeking—the legacy to change the past.
Alphiana: ...!
But how? Are you saying you actually restored it?
Rhador: Indeed.
Rhador: Razia, this whole time I thought you were dead. All I wanted was to see you and your mother again.
Rhador: All I wanted was to bring our family back together, to see everyone smile...
Rhador: In order to make my wish come true, I had to get my hands on this.
Razia: ...
Razia and Alphiana stand in shock as they stare at the legacy.
The crew, on the other hand, watch with confusion.
Vyrn: Hey, why the heck is that here...
  1. Akasha?

Choose: Akasha?

Vyrn: Looks like it. But, there's somethin' fishy about it...
Lyria: Yeah. There's no way the real Akasha could be here.
The primal beast Akasha has the power to rewrite history itself.
However, Akasha has been long since defeated by (Captain) and the crew.
Lyria: I also don't sense the presence of a primal beast within the legacy...
Vyrn: Alphiana said that the legacy was a failed replication and that the remains were destroyed...
Vyrn: Which means whatever that thing is, it doesn't have the power to control the past.
Lyria: I'm not sure... But I've got a bad feeling about this. We better be careful!
(Captain) and the crew put their guards up and watch carefully from a distance.
Rhador: Fate has been kind to me...
Rhador: Not only is Razia here, but Alphiana as well...
Rhador: My wishes will be fulfilled!
Alphiana: After I was caught, you told me something, Father.
Alphiana: You said that I'm an important piece of the puzzle for granting the Va'hen's wishes.
Alphiana: Exactly what do you plan on doing with me?
Rhador: That's what they all said... The legacy was an incomplete failure without the power to change the past.
Rhador: But it was missing a piece—a person with the power to look into the past. All it needed to do was to absorb that person's life force.
Razia: ...!
Are you going to sacrifice Alphie?
Razia: How dare you say you don't want to fight against your own family when this has been your plan all along!
Rhador: You're wrong! No one's being sacrificed!
Rhador: Alphiana will guide us back to those golden days.
Rhador: Because of her, we'll be able to get our family back!
Rhador: That's why I allowed your sister to become the Master.
Alphiana: You've always thought of me as no more than a pawn in your game...
Despair clouds Alphiana's face as she listens to Rhador speak.
Rhador: There's no need to worry, Alphiana. Once we change the past, you'll be with us. We'll all be together again.
Rhador: No one will be sacrificed... Everyone will be happy again!
Rhador extends his hand out toward his daughters.
Rhador: Alphiana, lend me your powers.
Rhador: And Razia, let's get back what we lost.
Unwavering, Razia continues to glare at Rhador with cold eyes.
Razia: I'm tired of this...
Rhador: Razia?
Razia: Father... No, head of the Va'hen, Rhador!
Razia: You are my sworn enemy!
Razia: You shall fall with the legacy by my hands!
Rhador: ...!
Why! Why don't you understand!
Razia: I have no reason to continue listening to your drivel.
Rhador: Razia!
Razia: (Captain)... I'm truly sorry for dragging you into my family's affairs.
Razia: But I need your help. I don't want anyone else to be victimized like I was!
Razia: I must put an end to this now.
  1. We'll fight with you!

Choose: We'll fight with you!

Lyria: That's right! You're not just an important member of our crew...
Lyria: You're part of our family too!
Razia: Thank you.
Razia: Alphiana. I will take down Father. If you objec—
Alphiana: Razia, I want to help.
Razia: Are you sure?
Alphiana: Yes.
Razia: Then it's decided. (Captain), Alphiana—the Va'hen and the legacy end right here, right now.
Razia: Charge!
Rhador: As if I'd let you stop me!
Rhador: I'll do whatever it takes to bring back those days!
Rhador: I don't care if you're my daughter—I won't show any mercy!
Several Va'hen members suddenly appear next to Rhador.
Rhador: Kill everyone except Alphiana. We're one step away from realizing our goals!
The Va'hen charge at (Captain) and the crew.
Without hesitation, everyone readies their weapons and rush headfirst into the fray.

The End of the Chase: Scene 4

Razia destroys the legacy with a powerful blast, but it begins repairing itself by sucking the souls out of the Va'hen members. The sisters unite and obliterate the legacy together, ending the Va'hen sect's ambitions. Although Razia reconciles with her father moments before his death, her grief continues to weigh down on her shoulders.

The crew defeats the Va'hen within mere minutes.
Va'hen Member 4: H-how are they so strong...
Lyria: Yggdrasil, heed my call.
Va'hen Member 5: Tch, I can't get these vines off me... Gah!
Razia: Eat this!
Va'hen Member 6: Gaaah!
Alphiana: You can no longer hide the sins you've committed in the past.
Va'hen Member 7: Eek! Please, stop! I'm begging you, Master... Ahhh!
Rhador: I-impossible... How is this happening? Is that a primal beast?
Va'hen Member 8: Rhador, we can't keep going...
Rhador: Tch, they leave me no choice. I need to use the legacy.
Va'hen Member 8: But, the power to change the past will...
Rhador: The legacy doesn't have a mind of its own.
Rhador: But there are ways to use it to defend the user. That's what they said...
Rhador: If I can just do that—
Razia: No you won't!
Razia points her cannonlance backwards and pulls the trigger.
The force propels her forward, sending her straight into Rhador.
Rhador: Guh!
Va'hen Member 8: How dare you hurt Rhador!
  1. Not so fast!

Choose: Not so fast!

Razia: Thanks for covering me, (Captain)!
(Captain) nods and gives a quick thumbs-up.
Rhador: Ugh... Why... Why are you doing this, Razia...
Razia: You're still conscious? I thought that would've knocked you out.
Razia: Conscious or not, it doesn't matter. You won't be moving around anytime soon.
Razia: The force of that impact is equivalent to falling down a cliff and smacking into all the trees along the way.
Vyrn: Geez... That's just insane...
Vyrn: How the heck are ya still so energetic after a hit like that, Scrappy?
Razia: Heh, it's a walk in the park for me.
Razia: Wouldn't even scratch me.
Vyrn: Nah, that's crazy...
Razia: Anyway, did we get everyone?
Razia looks around her carefully.
Lyria: Yup! We took care of all the members!
Razia: Good. The last thing is the legacy...
Rhador: ...!
S-stop! Razia, don't do it!
In a swift motion, Razia directs her weapon at the legacy.
Rhador desperately attempts to move his body, but his legs fail him.
Razia: ...
Rhador: I'm so close... to going back to those days...
Rhador: Me and your mother and you two... The four of us, laughing together again! I'm one step away!
Rhador: If you destroy the legacy, we'll never get it back.
Rhador: Our only shot at happiness will be gone!
Razia: ...
Razia: You and the Va'hen have already destroyed many people's happiness with your actions.
Razia: All because of your own selfishness.
Razia: You have no right to complain when it comes back to bite you.
Razia: Who says you can do whatever you want, but others can't? Hypocrite.
Razia: You reap what you sow.
Rhador: But if we change the past—
Razia: You think that just by changing the past you'll erase everything that happened in the present? Enough is enough!
Rhador: Please, I'm begging you! You can't do this, Razia!
Rhador: Don't you want to see your mother again? Don't you want to go back to those times when it was all four of us together?
Rhador's words give Razia pause as she recalls something.
Alphiana: Razia...
Razia: I remember those days where we'd spend time together as if they happened just yesterday.
Razia: But it doesn't mean that we can bring back the past.
Razia: Once you've lost something, you can't get it back.
Razia: And when I took my oath as a knight, I vowed to make sure no one ever has to suffer like I did.
Razia: That's why I will get revenge for the maids and everyone else who suffered at your hands!
Razia: This is the end!
Rhador: Razia!
Razia: I know that if things don't work out this time, you'd try to do this all over again! You'd sacrifice everything and everyone!
Razia: Stop obsessing over the past and look toward the future for once!
As Razia screams, she squeezes the trigger on her cannonlance.
The cannon hits the legacy dead center, blasting it apart from the inside.
Razia: It's over.
Rhador: Ahhh... My hope...
Va'hen Member 4: I was so close to getting back my children...
Va'hen Member 5: I promised to myself that this time... This time I'd tell them how I truly feel...
Va'hen Member 6: Give them back... Give back my wife and child!
Rhador and the Va'hen members wail in agony at the sight of the destroyed legacy.
As if in response to their cries, crystal chains fly out of the wreckage and ensnare the cultists.
Rhador: N-no! Stop it! Don't take my precious memories away... Ahhh!
Va'hen Member 4: Ahhh!
Va'hen Member 5: The people precious to me... Wait, who are they? And why am I here...
Va'hen Member 6: My memories... Everyone's gone...
The screams of the Va'hen intensify as the chains tighten and glow, choking them.
Moments later, the legacy is restored to its original state.
Vyrn: Hey, hey, what the heck's goin' on?
Alphiana: It's absorbing their memories... No, it's absorbing their life forces to repair itself?
Alphiana: No one told me it had the power to regenerate itself...
Vyrn: What are we gonna do? We gotta think of somethin' quick!
  1. We need to destroy it completely!

Choose: We need to destroy it completely!

With sword drawn, (Captain) looks at Lyria as she begins summoning Bahamut.
Razia: Wait! I'll do it. (Captain), you guys just stay right here.
Vyrn: Hey, this is an emergency! What are ya talkin' about—
Razia: The legacy is the symbol of the Va'hen... The object of their worship.
Razia: That's why I must destroy it with my own hands.
Razia: This is the only way to quench the rage inside of me. It's my destiny.
Alphiana: You're wrong, Razia. It's our destiny.
Alphiana gently takes Razia's hands.
Razia: Alphie...
Alphiana: I'll go with you. Let's put an end to the legacy together once and for all.
Razia: You're right... It's on us to finish what we started.
Alphiana: Yes.
Razia: So please, (Captain), stand back.
  1. Got it.

Choose: Got it.

Vyrn: But what are you two gonna do?
Razia: I have a plan.
Razia takes out all the ammunition from her pockets and loads up her cannonlance.
Razia: Good thing I got several rounds of this special ammo from my guys. Now I just need to unlock the safety...
Razia: Alphie, are you ready?
Alphiana: I'm ready. Let's go.
Razia: Yeah. It's time to finish this!
The sisters point the cannonlance toward the ground, hold on tightly, and pull the trigger.
The powerful blast sends both of them careening into the sky.
As they begin their descent, they aim the cannonlance directly at the legacy and make direct impact before shooting again.
Razia: This is it! Fire at will!
Shots go off, and every single round of ammunition pierces through the legacy.
Unable to stand the combined force, the legacy is reduced to smithereens.
Razia: Hah... Hah... Alphie, are you okay?
Alphiana: Y-yes... But I can't feel my arm anymore...
Razia: Me too. But I think we did it...
Razia and Alphiana nod at each other.
They slowly walk over to where their father is lying on the ground.
Alphiana: Father...
Rhador: Hah... Haaah...
After the legacy absorbed his life force to within an inch of death, Rhador's ragged breathing is all that is keeping him conscious.
Pangs of sadness and anger overwhelm the sisters as they stare at their father's limp body.
Rhador: How could I have failed... How could I have let it slip away from my hands like that...
Rhador: All I wanted to do was to bring back our family... To feel joy once again...
Razia: It was wrong of you to think that way. You weren't supposed to focus on the past.
Razia: You were supposed to focus on your family in the present—the family that are still alive today.
Razia: If only you'd done that, you would've experienced newfound joy.
Razia: No one else would've wanted to see that more than Mother herself.
The knight takes out a pendant from her chest pocket.
Rhador: Why do you have that... I gave that as a present to your mother...
Razia: Mother gave it to me right before she died.
Razia: She wanted me to have something of hers to remember her by.
Razia: She wrote her last words inside the pendant.
Razia takes out a piece of paper from inside the pendant and hands it over to her father.
Razia: Read it. It's Mother's last message.
Hands shaking, Rhador carefully takes the piece of paper and begins reading it.
The letter begins with an apology about leaving everyone behind.
It expresses gratitude about all the wonderful times they've spent as a family, desires for everyone to support each other...
And wishes for the rest of their lives to be spent happily together.
Rhador: Sob...
Tears spill out from Rhador's eyes as he reads his wife's final words.
Rhador: I was... so deeply wrong...
Rhador: I shouldn't have focused on the past... I should've been there for you two.
Razia: Yes...
Alphiana: That's right, Father.
Rhador: I've completely failed as a father. I wasn't able to realize such a simple thing...
Rhador: I've been a failure from the very beginning.
Alphiana: That's not true. If the Va'hen hadn't shown up, you would've never gone down this path...
Rhador: Perhaps that's true. But my mind wasn't as strong as you two.
Rhador: That's why I ended up being swayed by them...
Alphiana: Father...
Rhador: I'm so sorry, Alphiana. I was going to sacrifice you for my goals...
Rhador: I don't expect you to ever forgive me. You can hate me for the rest of your life.
Rhador: And I'm sorry to you as well, Razia. I ruined your life.
Razia: You did. Reflect on what you've done.
Rhador: I'm so sorry. Please take care of Alphiana... I leave the rest to you.
Razia: You don't have to tell me twice.
Rhador: You've... You've grown so big, Razia.
Rhador: But be careful. I know how clumsy you are... Just like your mother.
Razia: Don't get me started...
Rhador: Heh... I'm glad I was able to talk to both of you at the end...
Rhador: Even though... it shouldn't have been... like this...
And with those words, the last bit of strength leaves Rhador's body.
Razia and Alphiana watch silently, tears streaming down their faces.
???: The experiment failed, huh. But using the fragment did lead to a regeneration...
???: I suppose we lacked the resources. Or perhaps it didn't absorb enough souls.
???: Well, it's fine for now. I've amassed plenty of data for the report.
???: I need to recover the remains later. There's still plenty of experiments to be done.
A man stands far away in the distance, observing (Captain).
His lips form into a strange, twisted smile as he disappears.

The End of the Chase: Scene 5

Several days after the battle, the Va'hen sect has officially dissolved. The sisters visit their parents' graves together to tell them the situation. Razia decides to continue her journey with (Captain) and the crew in order to find more information about the organization that wants to bring the legacy back.

A few days later, Razia and Alphiana are paying a visit to their mother's and father's graves.
Razia: I've got news for you, Father. The Va'hen that you spearheaded has entirely collapsed.
Razia: After hearing about the legacy's destruction and Alphie's account, the remaining members all surrendered.
Razia: From now on, no one will have to go through what we did ever again.
Alphiana: Father... Everything's over.
Razia: Actually, not exactly.
Alphiana: What? But the Va'hen...
Razia: Yes, the Va'hen have been destroyed.
Razia: But we don't know anything about the group that wanted to restore the legacy.
Razia: And then another thing happened.
Razia: Apparently, the legacy's remains have disappeared.
Alphiana: ...!
Do you think it's the same group that wanted to repair the legacy?
Razia: It's not certain yet. But I think there's a good chance.
Alphiana: Razia, what are you going to do from now on?
Razia: I'm going to work with (Captain) and the crew to track down the group responsible.
Alphiana: You're going with (Captain)?
Razia: That's right. I'll be able to gather a wealth of information with them.
Razia: And I owe them a great debt for their help with everything...
Razia: I must repay them.
Alphiana: I see...
Razia: What about you, Alphie? What are your plans?
Razia: You've regained your eyesight after Father's death.
Razia: And now you've gotten back your freedom too, with the Va'hen gone.
Alphiana: I'm still thinking.
Razia: All right... Well, take your time. You've got plenty now.
Razia: The only thing I have to say is that you should live your life without any regrets.
Alphiana: I will...
Razia: And if anything happens, you can always talk to me. I'll always support you, no matter what.
Alphiana: Razia...
Razia: Besides, I promised Father that I'll protect you.
Razia looks at her father's tombstone and quietly pays her respects.
Razia: (Father, I will uphold my promise. You can rest in peace now.)
Razia: (I hope that you and Mother will watch over us from the heavens.)
Razia has finally settled her score.
With renewed determination, Razia commits herself to once again moving forward with purpose.
