Otherdimensional Frenzy

Thrown into an entirely different world, Maki is unsure what to think of the bizarre situation. When Kugisaki comes with two complimentary passes to a resort that Itadori had received from a friend—only to be taken away by Kugisaki soon after—Maki can't help but smile at her friend's cheerful mood. She decides to accept Kugisaki's invitation to Alohas and enjoy her time in this world as much as she can.

Maki Zen'in: ...
The azure sky stretches out in front of her... Ever so blue, ever so beautiful—almost annoyingly so.
Maki Zen'in is lost in thought as she stares into an all-too-blue sky she has never seen before.
Without warning, she had been thrown into a different world where there are no curses. Jumbled thoughts fill her head.
Maki Zen'in: (It's true I said we had to pick a direction...)
Maki Zen'in: (Still... We got sucked into an entirely different world. Not only that, a video game world. How are the others all adapting so quickly?)
An image of a certain blindfolded teacher foolishly laughing with his students comes to Maki's mind.
Only one person with a scowl on his face is among them. Maki decides to leave the overthinking to him.
Maki Zen'in: (Well, I'm here already. It'll work out one way or another.)
She lets out a sigh and straightens up. Without a glance back, she addresses someone behind her.
Maki Zen'in: Aren't you in a good mood, Nobara.
Nobara Kugisaki: Oh, found already. How'd you figure out it was me though?
Maki Zen'in: I can pretty much tell by your footsteps.
Nobara Kugisaki: Hehe.
Ta-da! You wanna go with me to this?
Maki Zen'in: What's this slip of paper?
"Alohas Complimentary One-Day Pass"?
Nobara Kugisaki: It's a famous resort in this world. This pass is supposed to let you use their facilities as much as you want.
Nobara Kugisaki: Our resident extrovert got chummy with one of (Captain)'s friends already, and she gave him this.
Maki Zen'in: Heh. Wouldn't expect any less of Yuji.
Maki is about to ask how Kugisaki got a hold of the ticket instead, but stops herself.
She can already imagine Kugisaki snatching it away from Itadori without needing to hear it from the culprit herself.
Nobara Kugisaki: From what I hear, Alohas offers some high-quality shopping and relaxation facilities.
Nobara Kugisaki: I bet it's even better than a resort you'd find in the Maldives!
Maki Zen'in: I don't even know what the Maldives are like. You've been before?
Nobara Kugisaki: ...
I mean, there aren't any curses for us to worry about here. Why don't we take this chance to kick back and chill for a while?
Maki Zen'in: (Can't believe she compared it to the Maldives when she's never even been there...)
Nobara Kugisaki: Like, everyone in this world's got the face of a model. Hardly holds a candle to you or me, of course.
Nobara Kugisaki: But putting that aside, I just can't believe it...
Nobara Kugisaki: Their clothes and accessories are a bit eccentric, but don't you think they're kinda cute? Like stuff you'd see at Paris Fashion Week!
Maki Zen'in: Can't really say anything about Paris Fashion Week, but they don't seem to like covering up that much.
Nobara Kugisaki: They've got to be brands that exist only in this world! I want some of their magic makeup too!
Nobara Kugisaki: So how about it? I managed to steal—
Nobara Kugisaki: I mean, get two tickets!
Maki Zen'in: Heh...
Maki can't help but chuckle and admire this unexpected side of Nobara Kugisaki.
Nobara Kugisaki: Maki?
Maki Zen'in: I was just thinking how you're finally acting like yourself. Like the idiot I've always imagined you to be.
Nobara Kugisaki: Wha! That is so mean!
Maki leans her naginata over and taps Kugisaki's forehead gently with it.
Nobara Kugisaki: Ow.
Maki Zen'in: You don't have to watch out for me. I'm your senior.
Nobara Kugisaki: ...
I don't know what you're talking about. I just wanted to enjoy some time in the Maldives with you.
Maki Zen'in: Hey, you're mixing it up. Alohas, right? Fine, we can go.
Maki Zen'in: But if we're going to do this relaxation thing, we're going to do it right—be it the Maldives or Las Vegas.
Maki Zen'in: I don't know anything about makeup or fashion, but I'm interested in seeing what kind of things are only available in this world.
Nobara Kugisaki: That's the spirit, Maki! Let's snag some nice otherdimensional stuff!
Maki Zen'in: Hah. We'll make them regret they ever sent us complimentary tickets.
Nobara Kugisaki: Yeah! Heck, we'll buy out Alohas itself!
Maki Zen'in: Pfft, as if you can.
Maki Zen'in: (Since Panda and Toge are missing out, I guess I could get them some souvenirs.)
Maki's thoughts wander to her friends who didn't make it to this world with them. She starts making preparations for the trip.
As Maki walks on ahead, Kugisaki glances at her companion and smiles to herself.
Maki Zen'in: What's wrong? Let's get a move on.
Maki Zen'in: ...
What's with that smile plastered on your face?
Nobara Kugisaki: I'm just happy you're coming too.
Maki Zen'in: What?
Nobara Kugisaki: You know, the guys are just so sloppy sometimes. I'd hate to be around them all the time even in another world.
Nobara Kugisaki: But with you, I can have as much fun as I want without having to worry!
Maki Zen'in: What're you going on about?
Nobara Kugisaki: I'm saying I like having you around!
Maki Zen'in: Okay...
Thanks, Nobara.
Lineage. Curses. Without these obligations to drag them down, the two are finally able to enjoy themselves to the fullest in these skies.
Their steps are light as they continue on their way to the famed holiday resort.

Otherdimensional Frenzy: Scene 2

Kugisaki and Maki arrive at Alohas, where they enjoy some shopping until they realize they had already used up all their money. Friday suddenly makes an appearance and offers the products to them for free. Not wanting to create any debt they may not be able to repay, Maki refuses the offer. Instead, she suggests they do some work for Friday as payment. Agreeing to the idea, Friday asks the two to help her handle a certain someone, just as Tyra and a Tyrannosaurus run past them.

Upon arriving at Alohas, Maki follows Kugisaki to a shopping area.
As the cosmetic products in Kugisaki's basket piles up, Maki sighs.
Maki Zen'in: You don't get tired of this at all?
Nobara Kugisaki: Nope!
Maki Zen'in: Can you even use that much? And you're just snatching up all the sample products, aren't you? This isn't a buffet.
Nobara Kugisaki: But they're so good! For regular samples, you don't know who's touched them before, right? Sometimes I feel iffy using them.
Nobara Kugisaki: But they give you completely new products as samples here, and they let you open them! Foundation, lipstick, nail polish—all brand new!
Nobara Kugisaki: It's all-you-can-sample! Definitely five stars for hospitality! Are they even making any profit off of this?
Maki Zen'in: Uh-huh... Is it really that great?
Nobara Kugisaki: It is really great. And on top of that, the shop staff know when to help and when to give you space. I just feel so comfortable shopping.
Nobara Kugisaki: You know how when you're focused on your shopping, sometimes store attendants suddenly come up to talk to you? I know it's their job, but I can't say it doesn't bug me.
Nobara Kugisaki: I mean, I guess talking to me is fine, but I wish they wouldn't go trying to sell me stuff I'm not interested in.
Maki Zen'in: That I can relate. I've had a few times where people came and recommended me things I didn't want.
Nobara Kugisaki: Yeah! It's awkward, right? But there's none of that here!
Nobara Kugisaki: Hospitality that's discreet, but polite and attentive—this is the best! Just what you'd expect in the Maldives.
Maki Zen'in: It's Alohas.
Nobara Kugisaki: Look, this oil's amazing. It gets absorbed into your skin right away! Oil's really important, so we can't forget it in our skincare!
Maki Zen'in: You sound like Utahime when you say that kind of thing.
Nobara Kugisaki: Oh, you mean the Kyoto school's...
Maki Zen'in: I don't have a clue about these topics, but from what you've been telling me, you'd probably get along with her. And Mai.
Nobara Kugisaki: Ew. No thanks.
Maki Zen'in: Haha. I have to say, I like that honest side of you.
Nobara Kugisaki: I'm happy just talking with you, Maki.
Nobara Kugisaki: Come on. Why don't you give this oil a try?
Nobara Kugisaki: Oh, they have the one I'm using! Here, you can have the rest of this one!
Maki Zen'in: You're just giving me the old one so you can get a new one, aren't you? You got a lot of nerve trying to pass me off a hand-me-down.
Nobara Kugisaki: I'm just kidding! You should give some of these samples a try too and get one that you like!
Maki Zen'in: I'm also kidding. I don't mind taking what you don't need anymore—I can sample with that.
Maki Zen'in: Oils, huh? The only oil I've ever bought is olive oil.
Nobara Kugisaki: That's why you gotta take this chance to try some. Your skin's great already, but with some oil, it's gonna shine like a diamond!
Nobara Kugisaki: I'm sure you'll love it!
Maki Zen'in: Hm...
Maki Zen'in: Oh.
Nobara Kugisaki: What's the matter?
Maki Zen'in: Come to think of it, how do we buy things here?
Nobara Kugisaki: What do you mean "how"? With money...
Maki Zen'in: Exactly. With money... that we don't have.
Nobara Kugisaki: Oh.
Kugisaki face-palms, just realizing that she already used all the rupies she had left before coming here.
Nobara Kugisaki: I-it's fine. We're here with complimentary tickets...
Maki Zen'in: Complimentary to enter, but surely not to eat and shop. Look, it's even written on the ticket.
Nobara Kugisaki: Crap, you're right!
You've got guts to trick me, Itadori!
Maki Zen'in: Pretty sure it's not Yuji's fault...
Nobara Kugisaki: No way... You mean I can't take any of this treasure home? I wonder if (Captain) can lend me some money...
Maki Zen'in: Don't be ridiculous. You don't want to be racking up debt you might not be able to pay back.
Nobara Kugisaki: I know, but what else can we do!
Maki Zen'in: Nothing. We just have to let this go—
Friday: No need, my friends!
Nobara Kugisaki: Oh, it's the lady Itadori became friends with.
Friday: That's right! The name is Friday, and I'm the owner of Alohas!
Maki Zen'in: Oho, so you're the manager. Well, thank you for having us.
Maki Zen'in: What did you mean by "no need"?
Friday: I can't have my guests all the way from another world paying at my establishment! Please, take whatever your heart desires!
Nobara Kugisaki: Seriously?
Maki Zen'in: Be careful. Nobara might just take everything here.
Nobara Kugisaki: Hey, I can show a bit of self-restraint. I'm just going to take however much Itadori and Fushiguro can carry—nothing more than that.
Maki Zen'in: You call that restraint?
Friday: Hehe. That's completely fine. After all, I'd like to show my appreciation toward you.
Maki Zen'in: Save the sap. Besides, we haven't done anything specifically for you.
Friday: Oh, yes, you have! Take a look outside!
Tourist 1: Are those the people from another world? I can't tell them apart from Humans...
Tourist 2: Wow, they're so fit... They look great.
Nobara Kugisaki: Oh... I thought people were staring at us here and there.
Maki Zen'in: I guess we're the pandas here, huh? The rare attraction that draws in the visitors.
Friday: I'd never think of you that way. I'm sorry if that made you feel uncomfortable.
Friday: But Alohas is indeed thriving thanks to your presence.
Friday: That's why I'd like to express my appreciation. Just as all forms of labor deserve appropriate compensation, I would like to give something in return for what we gained.
Nobara Kugisaki: That's nice and responsible of you.
Friday: Hehe! Not to mention, having the two of you relax here at Alohas and enjoying our products like this...
Friday: It's an excellent example of the importance of taking breaks. Hopefully, other guests will follow suit!
Maki Zen'in: So we are the pandas after all.
Nobara Kugisaki: It's too bad the perfect candidate for that role isn't here...
Maki Zen'in: That's true. If only Panda was here... Well, he'd probably be pulling some pranks with Toge though.
Nobara Kugisaki: Anyway, I'm so glad I don't have to say goodbye to all of these goodies!
Maki Zen'in: That won't do.
Nobara Kugisaki: Wha!
Maki Zen'in: Friday, was it? I listened to what you had to say, and I don't think you're making sense.
Friday: Oh my. And why is that?
Maki Zen'in: You decided you felt indebted to us, and now you're forcefully repaying that debt regardless of what we think about it. I don't feel good about that.
Maki Zen'in: And Nobara, we talked about this earlier. We don't want to owe anything we might not be able to return later.
Nobara Kugisaki: Well, yeah, but...
Nobara Kugisaki: Sigh... I guess... I'll have to let it go after all...
Maki Zen'in: I didn't say you do. I'm just rejecting Friday's idea.
Nobara Kugisaki: What do you mean?
Maki Zen'in: Appropriate compensation is paid for labor, right? Then give us something to do. That way, neither side will owe anything.
Maki Zen'in: What do you think, Nobara? Then you can buy as much as you want without feeling bad.
Nobara Kugisaki: ...!
Nobara Kugisaki: You're so cool, Maki!
Friday: I see... Since you seem so confident in your skills, I might have someone I'd like you to handle for me.
Nobara Kugisaki: Someone... to handle?
Tyra: Waaah!
Tyrannosaurus: Groooar!
Nobara Kugisaki: Is that her?
Friday: That's her.

Otherdimensional Frenzy: Scene 3

When they see flying sharks attacking Tyra and company, Kugisaki and Maki step in, fending them off before running outside to find a giant Tyrannosaurus and a humungous flying shark fighting each other. The large shark continues to birth smaller flying entities, but Kugisaki and Maki take on all of them and manage to drive the creatures back to where they came. As reward for their work, all services and products at Alohas that day are made free for Kugisaki, while Maki happily takes on the humungous Tyrannosaurus as a form of special training.

Tyrannosaurus: Grrr!
Maki Zen'in: What in the world is that? A dinosaur?
Nobara Kugisaki: That's a T. rex... right? I guess they've got everything in this world...
Tyra: Tyraaa! Help meee!
Maki Zen'in: Come on, Nobara.
The two grip their weapons and charge toward the frenzied beast of old.
But the girl shakes her head and points at something behind the Tyrannosaurus.
Tyra: No, no, no! My Tyranno isn't the enemy! Stop bullying him!
Tyra: I mean that! Do something about that thing!
Nobara Kugisaki: Huh? What do you mean by...
Flying Shark: Sharrrk!
Nobara Kugisaki: ...
Okay, my head is starting to hurt. What is going on?
Nobara Kugisaki: This is like some B movie. The kind that Itadori would like.
Nobara Kugisaki: I'm definitely gonna let him know he missed out later.
Maki Zen'in: Sigh...
Hey, kid. So you want us to forget the Tyrannosaurus and take care of those sea creatures?
Tyra: I'm not a kid! But no time for that now!
Friday, I didn't hear anything about this!
Friday: Neither did I! I have no idea what's going on either!
FRIED SHRIMP!
FRIED SHRIMP: Fry, fryyy!
At Friday's call, a large, flying fried shrimp appears. Kugisaki clutches her head in her hands.
Nobara Kugisaki: Ahhh, no more! Stop feeding me more absurd situations! What's wrong with this world—seriously!
Maki Zen'in: Save that for later.
Flying Shark: Sharrrk!
Maki Zen'in: Anyway, let's just do what we have to do.
Flying Shark: Sha?
Swinging her naginata, Maki cuts down all the sharks flying toward them.
Maki Zen'in: Nothing but small fries.
Flying Shark: Sharrrk!
Maki Zen'in: Hah! Only small fries flock together like this.
Nobara Kugisaki: Siiigh...
Nobara Kugisaki: All right, let's do this then! I better be getting commission off of this!
Friday: Of course! I'll leave that side to you! We'll focus on evacuating our guests and staff to safety!
Tyra: My super awesome Tyranno's keeping the big one at bay, but he needs help!
Tyrannosaurus: Groooar!
Large Flying Shark: Sharrrk!
The flying sharks continue to appear one after another, but the pair manage to drive them back to where they came from.
Meanwhile, the large Tyrannosaurus and giant flying shark are tearing at each other's throats.
Maki Zen'in: This seriously has to be a scene from some B movie.
The Tyrannosaurus seems to be coming out on top, albeit barely.
Flying Shark: Sharrrk!
However, a number of smaller sharks suddenly emerge from the body of the large shark. They rush toward the Tyrannosaurus and hold it down.
Tyrannosaurus: Groooar...
Nobara Kugisaki: That is so gross.
Maki Zen'in: So that's where they kept coming from. I was wondering why there were still so many even though we kept taking them out.
Maki Zen'in: Guess we have to knock out that big one.
Large Flying Shark: Sharrrk!
Growing increasingly vicious, the gigantic shark creates a new army of small sharks and sends them hurtling toward Maki and Kugisaki.
Seeing the incoming surge of sharks, Maki tightens the grip on her weapon.
Maki Zen'in: Well, it's coming. The sheer number of them is going to be impossible to handle. It's checkmate...
Maki Zen'in: If I were alone, of course. But I'm not.
And sure enough, Maki is not alone.
Nobara Kugisaki: Straw Doll Technique.
Nobara Kugisaki is right behind her.
Nobara Kugisaki: Resonance.
Tossing a straw figure and a nail in the air, Kugisaki swings her hammer down.
When a shark approaches just as the straw doll is struck...
In the blink of an eye, the army of sharks is blown away by an explosion of cursed energy.
Large Flying Shark: Sha... Sharrrk!
The large shark is seized by violent convulsions and falls to the ground.
Nobara Kugisaki: Bet you don't know what just happened, huh? But that's okay. You can stay put in the dark while we get our commission!
Large Flying Shark: Sharrr... Sharrrk!
Nobara Kugisaki: First it swims in the sky, and now the ground? Geez, I guess anything goes here. Now it's just gonna brute-force it, huh?
Nobara Kugisaki: But too bad. I won't let you!
Large Flying Shark: Shark?
Finally noticing that the floor's covered in a layer of oil, the shark slips and loses control.
It slides across the ground...
Maki Zen'in: All according to Nobara's plan.
Until it finds itself at the feet of someone waiting.
Maki Zen'in: Heh.
Drawing a circle in the air, Maki cuts off the shark's head with a clean swing of her naginata.
Maki Zen'in: You were right—oil does come in handy. Guess I should get some for myself.
Nobara Kugisaki: This wasn't what I had in mind though.
Tyra: Tyra, Tyra, Tyra! Both of you did a great job! Thanks for helping me and my Tyrannos out.
Nobara Kugisaki: Oh, you better be thankful. What the heck was that anyway?
Nobara Kugisaki: I've got so many questions about both the Tyrannosauruses and the dumb sharks...
Tyra: I made my Tyrannos! What do you think? Don't they look so cool?
Nobara Kugisaki: Whoa, you did? Putting aside your annoying "Tyra, Tyra" thing, you're telling me a kid like you made those?
Tyra: I'm not a kid! And you don't believe me, do you? I can't believe you can't tell what a genius I am!
Friday: I'd asked Tyra and her Tyrannos to help with security and to protect our guests!
Tyra: Yeah. Our job was mostly to deal with suspicious visitors and to take down any monsters that suddenly appear.
Tyra: But I didn't think a gigantic shark would appear like that! What in the skies was that?
Friday: Who knows? Seems like it flew in from Auguste. I don't know anything else about how it happened though.
Nobara Kugisaki: Hm... So it was a big deal for you guys in this world too, huh? For a second, I thought it was just us that was surprised.
Friday: In any case, the two of you helped protect Alohas from danger!
Friday: As promised, everything at Alohas will be free of charge for you today!
Nobara Kugisaki: You're serious? Everything? As in all the spa services and food too?
Friday: Hehe. I'm not simply doing this as appreciation anymore, after all—any labor done deserves appropriate compensation. Would that be acceptable for you?
Maki Zen'in: ...
Nobara Kugisaki: Maki?
Maki Zen'in: Ah, sorry. I was just thinking to myself.
Maki Zen'in: Hey, Friday. Nobara can have that as compensation if she wants, but think I could ask for something else?
Friday: Of course.
Maki Zen'in: Let me fight with that humongous Tyrannosaurus. It managed to stop that disgusting giant of a shark earlier by itself, right?
Maki Zen'in: My curiosity's piqued. Could be good training for fighting against cursed spirits.
Tyra: So... you're admitting that my Tyranno's super strong? Hey, you're a pretty decent person after all!
Tyra: You did save us and everything, so I wouldn't wanna turn you down! But don't go making it extinct, okay?
Maki Zen'in: I'll try to hold back—assuming I can.
Nobara Kugisaki: Seriously, Maki?
Nobara Kugisaki: Well... as long as you're enjoying yourself, I guess. I'm gonna go take some time to wind down too.
With the trouble at the resort wrapping up, Maki and Kugisaki spend the rest of their time relaxing at Alohas.
Kugisaki wastes no time indulging in every service available, almost putting the resort in the red.
Fortunately, the bout between Maki and the Tyrannosaurus draws in more onlookers than ever, enough to save Alohas from debt and giving all visitors that day a performance to remember.
