War Song

Restored to its old form, the Nine-Realm Harp awakens. It reveals that it was once a musician who played the Nine-Realm Harp, before his soul resided in it. The melody Niyon seeks is one he played to guide and invigorate troops during the War. The harp performs the song for Niyon to learn, so that she may one day use it to preserve the peace she treasures.

Niyon: ...
After much hardship, the Nine-Realm harp is restored to its previous form using ancient materials.
Niyon plucks a single string and listens to the resounding vibrations.
Niyon: ...
Though the quality remains superb, the notes now ring with a peculiar depth.
Niyon: Even the roaring of the airship's wings can't cover this sound... It's far stronger than before.
Niyon finds herself taking in the lingering reverberations.
Nine-Realm Harp: Hm...
Niyon: ...!
Nine-Realm Harp: When such a familiar sound pierced through my slumber, I never expected to wake to this form. You never cease to surprise me.
Niyon: I'm surprised as well. I never expected you to come alive again.
Nine-Realm Harp: It's been quite a while. How does your hearing fare?
Niyon: Good, thanks to you.
Nine-Realm Harp: I see. Your senses appear to be sharper than before. They must be if you were able to discern the melody hidden within me.
Nine-Realm Harp: I'm not sure whether it's a blessing or a curse that I was paired with such a skilled musician... Either way, you've done well to come this far.
Niyon: I couldn't help but be drawn to that melody.
Niyon: It must be a powerful one, considering it was played enough to be ingrained into you.
Nine-Realm Harp: Indeed. What you've discovered is the result of a performance repeated countless times.
Nine-Realm Harp: Each note inspired troops with courage and relieved their fears whenever a comrade was struck down. Thus their marching never faltered.
Niyon: So it was meant to guide troops...
Nine-Realm Harp: ...
You see, I was alive during the war that decided the fate of the skies.
Nine-Realm Harp: Smoke signals, drums, and instruments were used to give the soldiers a rhythm to march to.
Nine-Realm Harp: Many of the musicians employed were aggrieved by such a tactic. I was one of them. For whose sake, after all, is a melody devoid of music?
Niyon: You, the Nine-Realm Harp... You were once a musician?
Nine-Realm Harp: I was.
Nine-Realm Harp: The Revenant weapons possess the ability to house the souls of their users, though I'm not certain why I was chosen.
Nine-Realm Harp: It's certainly curious. The way I came to own the harp was also strange, as it suddenly appeared in my hands in the midst of battle one day.
Nine-Realm Harp: The sounds it produced were more profound than those from my fellow musicians, and I found myself selected to be a pivotal part of our victory strategy.
Nine-Realm Harp: Thus I became an instrument of war, figuratively and then literally, through the Nine-Realm Harp. The melody you seek is the one I once played.
Niyon: ...
Nine-Realm Harp: Not many people harbor the ability to command such a power.
Nine-Realm Harp: Maybe those who do are met with a Revenant weapon for a reason. What say you?
Nine-Realm Harp: If you desire it, then I shall play the song of war.
Niyon: I...
Nine-Realm Harp: I only offer because you do not crave conflict. This I know because you are my owner.
Nine-Realm Harp: You seek the exact opposite, yet your heart still pursued this melody... Perhaps it might serve a purpose for you.
Nine-Realm Harp: At the very least, I would ask that you listen once. Another war of such a large scale might occur in the future, after all.
Niyon: Okay.
Nine-Realm Harp: Very well.
Nine-Realm Harp: Then without further ado, I present to you an ancient melody from thousands of years ago. Let the remnants of courageous battle fill your ears.
Niyon: Are you being serious right now?
Nine-Realm Harp: Haha, simply trying to lighten the mood. This old-timer doesn't often have the opportunity to impart knowledge onto a new generation.
Niyon: I see.
Nine-Realm Harp: I pray that this song is not forgotten for what it is, long into the future...
The Nine-Realm Harp begins to play.
Sitting down next to one another, (Captain) and Niyon listen.
