While searching for a monster that's made a certain tunnel its lair, a cave-in separates Bakugo, Arthur, and Mordred from the rest of the crew. Mordred complains about Bakugo's foul attitude, but Arthur disregards it, pointing out that Bakugo had saved them from the falling debris.

Katsuki Bakugo: ...
Arthur: Hey, Bakugo!
Katsuki Bakugo: ...
Arthur: Bakugo, wait up!
Katsuki Bakugo: Tch!
Mordred: Come on, Arthur. Just take the hint already.
Arthur: But...
Katsuki Bakugo: Will you shut the hell up!
Katsuki Bakugo: You're pissing me off, you brats!
Mordred: See! Now you've got him mad at me too!
Bakugo, Arthur, and Mordred are walking through a tunnel, their path lit only by a single torch.
Arthur: Aw, come on! It's just the three of us here, so I wanted to talk to him a bit...
Katsuki Bakugo: Humph!
With a dismissive snort, Bakugo starts walking faster.
Arthur: Ack! Wait up, Bakugo!
Arthur: Come on, Mordred! We've gotta keep up!
Mordred: Sigh...
Mordred: Is it really a good idea to follow him?
Arthur: Do you not like Bakugo, Mordred?
Mordred: It's not a question of whether I like him or not. The guy obviously has no intention to work as a team with us.
Arthur: Hmm, do you really think so?
Mordred: Well, even if he doesn't, we should be able to handle this ourselves.
Arthur: But you know, back then he...
Arthur: So anyway, where are we gonna find this monster that we're supposed to get rid of?
Lyria: Well, the only thing we know is that it lives in this tunnel.
Vyrn: On the other hand, that means if we keep going, we'll eventually find it!
Vyrn: But anyway, are ya sure you're okay with this, you two?
Vyrn: Ya know, spending your time off helpin' us out with a job?
Arthur: Of course!
Mordred: Never mind okay with it, we're thankful to be here.
Arthur: Even on vacation, we're always looking for opportunities to train!
Arthur and Mordred are using their time off from their duties with the Order of the White Dragons to visit (Captain)'s crew.
Since the crew was just about to set off on a job when they arrived, the two knights-in-training decided to tag along.
Lyria: Deku and Bakugo agreed to come and help as well, so I'm sure this will go well!
Izuku Midoriya: Yeah, it should be a good opportunity for us too! Right, Kacchan?
Katsuki Bakugo: Shut up, stupid Deku! Don't act like we're buddies!
Katsuki Bakugo: Hey!
Mordred: Whoa!
Arthur: Huh?
Arthur: You know, when that beam broke and the ceiling caved in.
Arthur: Bakugo grabbed me and jumped out of the way of the falling rocks, didn't he?
Arthur: And right before that, he pushed you away from them too.
Arthur: If it wasn't for that, we might've ended up flat as pancakes.
Mordred: I mean... Yeah, you're not wrong, but...
Katsuki Bakugo: ...
Mordred: Even so, the guy's attitude is just nasty, isn't it?
Arthur: Well, yeah... But we were warned about that.
Izuku Midoriya: Kacchan's a little...
Izuku Midoriya: No, fairly... No, he's extremely, incredibly rude and unfriendly...
Izuku Midoriya: But he's strong, quick-witted, and great to have around in a pinch!
Arthur: Deku had told us about him, so honestly I was prepared for him to be a lot worse.
Katsuki Bakugo: Hey, brats!
Katsuki Bakugo: Stop wasting your damn breath on chitchat and get moving!
Arthur: Yes sir!
Arthur: See? He wants us to keep up.
Mordred: Hah... You can interpret anything positively, can't you?
With a sigh, Mordred jogs to catch up with Arthur and Bakugo.

By the Light of Sparks: Scene 2

When questioned by Arthur, Bakugo responds that he wants to be a hero that achieves absolute victory. Lighting their path with constant small explosions in order to save their torch for later, he leads the two knights-in-training with his memory of the map as a guide. As they near the exit, however, a giant monster appears before them.

Arthur: Hey, Bakugo. You and Deku are childhood friends, right?
Katsuki Bakugo: Tch...
Arthur: Mordred and I are childhood friends too.
Arthur: We went to the capital to take the exam to become knights together, and...
Katsuki Bakugo: Tch!
Mordred: I really don't get where you find the tenacity to keep talking to him, Arthur. All his responses are just angry noises!
Arthur: Yeah, but I'm pretty sure he's still listening.
Mordred: Man, how positive can you get...
Arthur: That reminds me, Bakugo! You guys met Siegfried, didn't you?
Mordred: Oh yeah... I heard about that too.
Mordred: You got to fight alongside him, right? We don't get the chance to do that often, so I wish we could have been there too.
Katsuki Bakugo: ...
Are you two set on becoming like him or something?
Mordred: Huh? I mean, we'd sure love to be as strong as Siegfried, but that's not exactly our goal.
Arthur: If you're asking what our dream is, we both want to become the captain of our order!
Mordred: Goal, not dream!
Arthur: Oh yeah, right! That's our goal!
Arthur: We grew up in an orphanage, and we don't want any other kids to have to grow up without their parents.
Arthur: The world is filled with war, fearsome monsters, and all kinds of other stuff that can threaten the people, and we want to protect them from all of it.
Mordred: So we want to be strong enough to beat any monster or other foe we might have to face.
Seeing the two knights-in-training speak with sincerity in their eyes, Bakugo turns away with a curt puff.
Katsuki Bakugo: ...
You brats sure do talk a lot.
Mordred finds his mood soured by Bakugo's comment.
Mordred: Hey man, you're only a few years older than us.
Arthur: Uhm... Oh yeah! This tunnel comes out on the other side of the mountain, right?
Arthur: If we keep going, we'll be able to get out of here and meet up with (Captain)'s crew again!
Mordred: Probably, yeah.
Mordred: But there might be another part of the tunnel that's collapsed like what happened back there.
Mordred: On top of that, (Captain)'s group was holding on to the only map of this place.
Arthur: Wait, does that mean we're gonna get lost?
Mordred: Don't say that or it'll actually happen!
Arthur: Look, there's a fork in the path already! What do we do?
Upon realizing that they'll have to find the way out, Arthur becomes distressed.
Katsuki Bakugo: ...
However, Bakugo chooses a path without hesitation.
Mordred: Wh... Hey!
Arthur: You know the right way to go, Bakugo?
Katsuki Bakugo: Of course I do.
Arthur: But how?
Katsuki Bakugo: Huh? Because I looked at the damn map, obviously.
Mordred: But we don't have the map...
Katsuki Bakugo: I looked at it before we came in here. And now I remember it.
Mordred: ...
Wait, seriously?
Arthur: Wow! You're so smart, Bakugo!
Arthur: Deku was right—he really is good in a pinch!
Arthur: I guess you must be one of the brainy-type heroes. That's so cool!
Arthur: Oh yeah, that reminds me. What kind of hero are you hoping to become, Bakugo?
Katsuki Bakugo: ...
Mordred: Arthur, how long is it gonna take you to figure out that he's not gonna respond?
Arthur: Aw, come on... I was just thinking that I hadn't heard about his Hero Name or anything...
Katsuki Bakugo: ...
I couldn't care less whether I'm brainy or brawny or whatever. All that matters is that I'm not gonna lose to anyone.
Katsuki Bakugo: I'm gonna be a hero that achieves absolute victory every time.
Mordred: Absolute victory...
Katsuki Bakugo: ...
Tch.
Bakugo looks at his torch and clicks his tongue.
Katsuki Bakugo: Hey, do you brats have any more torches?
Arthur: Nope, none here...
Mordred: Me either. I dropped mine during the cave-in.
Katsuki Bakugo: Guess it can't be helped then.
Arthur: Whoa!
Mordred: Hey, what are you—
With Bakugo's torch extinguished, the three young men are plunged into darkness. But then, a moment later...
Mordred: Ah—
Arthur: Above Bakugo's palm, are those...
Mordred: Sparks?
Bakugo starts creating small explosions above his palm to light up the tunnel.
Katsuki Bakugo: We're saving the torch for later.
Arthur: Oh yeah! That's right, your Quirk is "Explosion," isn't it.
Arthur: So you can do that kind of stuff too if you hold back, huh?
Mordred: Explosion...
Mordred: Couldn't you have used that power to open the way back to the others when the ceiling collapsed?
Katsuki Bakugo: If I tried something like that when there'd already just been a cave-in, I could've brought the whole damned place down on our heads, idiot.
Arthur: Ah, I see.
Mordred: ...
That's true.
Arthur: In other words, right now we have no choice but to keep going and come out on the other side of the mountain.
Katsuki Bakugo: Got it? Then stop wasting time and get to walking.
Arthur: Yes sir!
The trio starts off again, depending on Bakugo's sparks for light.
Arthur: I wonder how much farther we have to go...
Mordred: That's a good question. I feel like we've probably come like eighty, ninety percent of the way.
Katsuki Bakugo: ...
Arthur: So how long can you keep making those sparks, Bakugo?
Katsuki Bakugo: You think I'm gonna get tired making these measly little things? I can keep this up forever!
Katsuki Bakugo: More importantly...
???: ...
Mordred: That sound!
A large monster emerges from the darkness and appears before the trio.
Katsuki Bakugo: We've got some work to do!
Arthur: Is this the monster we're here to take out?
Katsuki Bakugo: Who knows! If it's in my way, it's going down!

By the Light of Sparks: Scene 3

The wyvern flees the tunnel, only to be quickly dispatched by Bakugo, who is able to fully use his power out in the open. Mordred comes to respect Bakugo, and the three boys get into an argument over training.

Monster: Groooar!
Arthur: It's running!
The monster turns tail and flees in the face of the trio's assault.
Katsuki Bakugo: Get the hell back here!
Mordred: Arthur! We should follow him!
Arthur: Yeah, let's go!
Monster: Groooar!
Katsuki Bakugo: Stop running, you stupid monster!
Arthur: Bakugo, I think that's a little unreasonable!
Mordred: I don't think I've ever seen a monster stop doing something when asked.
Arthur: Look, daylight!
Mordred: We've reached the exit!
Monster: Grrr...
Monster: Graaagh!
The monster's ear-shattering roar causes the tunnel's ceiling to collapse in front of the trio.
Mordred: No! The exit!
Arthur: We were almost there!
Katsuki Bakugo: Alright, get ready to dive!
Arthur: Dive?
Mordred: D-don't tell me you're—
Katsuki Bakugo: Outta my way, damned rocks!
Mordred: Cough, cough... Are you okay, Arthur?
Arthur: Hack... I'm fine...
Bakugo's full-power explosion has blasted away the debris, clearing the way to the outside of the tunnel.
Mordred: Man, is that guy crazy?
Arthur: He said doing that could cause the tunnel to collapse on our heads!
Mordred: I guess he figured it was fine this time since we were so close to the exit anyway.
Arthur: Anyway, where is he?
Katsuki Bakugo: Finally made it out of there! You gotta love fresh air! Huh?
Monster: Grr...
Katsuki Bakugo: Whoa there, what're you in such a rush for?
Katsuki Bakugo: I've been holding back for so long that I need something to release some stress on.
Katsuki Bakugo: Plus, if I let you get away, I can't claim absolute victory!
Katsuki Bakugo: So have a taste of this!
Monster: Gaargh!
Bakugo's explosion annihilates the fleeing monster.
Arthur: Wow!
Mordred: Man, he really was holding back in there...
Mordred: ...
Hey, Bakugo.
Katsuki Bakugo: ...
Without responding, Bakugo turns and glances at Mordred.
Mordred: Why is it that you want to win so much?
Katsuki Bakugo: Huh? What kinda question's that?
Katsuki Bakugo: Because I'm a hero, obviously.
Hearing Bakugo say that as if it was the most natural thing in the world, Mordred is silent for a moment and then starts laughing.
Mordred: Haha! Man, I really can't tell if you're smart or stupid!
Katsuki Bakugo: Huh?
Katsuki Bakugo: What the hell'd you just say? Are you picking a fight?
Mordred: Oh? You'd be willing to do some training with me?
Arthur: Hey, no fair! I want to train with Bakugo too!
Katsuki Bakugo: Shut up! I said a fight, not training!
Still covered in dust, the three young men start loudly arguing.
The clamor continues until the rest of the crew members make their way around the mountain and find them.
