Home Sweet Moon - Processing... Overclocked - Chapter 3: Extinguishing the Blue - Episode 2

Dex shrugs off the attacks against him and marches toward the base. Vaseraga asks Zeta and Beatrix to help (Captain) and the others with Diaspora, then unleashes Grynoth as a last-ditch effort to stop Dex alone. Not having great success, he asks Ilsa and Gwynne to fire Heisenberg's weapon—which they've dubbed Yama—at him and Dex.

Zeta: Why's nothing working!
Beatrix: He's no joke! I'm pretty sure our attacks are connecting, but they don't even faze him!
Vaseraga: Fortunately it looks like he won't be able to fire off that giant cannon anymore.
Zeta: Won't make much difference if we can't hurt him!
Zeta: Haaah!
Dex: Heh.
Zeta: The hell's your body made of!
Brushing aside their attacks like flies in the wind, Dex walks in the direction of the base.
Dex: That's their base... They may have a secret weapon there. I must destroy it if so.
Zeta: Crap!
Eustace: We can't let him get through.
Beatrix: You guys came back to help! Boy is it embarrassing to be losing this badly when we said we'd take care of things here...
Vyrn: Not exactly... The situation's changed!
Lyria: Mahira sent us a transmission from the ship!
Lyria: She figured out Diaspora's exact landing point. Um...
Lyria: It's 3.7 kilometers east-northeast of the base! That's what she said!
Vyrn: That's like the very edge of the island! We've gotta get a move on!
Eustace: We have about thirty minutes until Diaspora starts wrecking the world.
Eustace: But consider that a very rough estimate.
Zeta: No time to relax, huh...
Beatrix: But we can't just leave this guy either!
Dex: You must be seal weapon contractors, with a 0.007% chance of turning into automagods... You pose no threat to Diaspora.
Beatrix: What!
Vaseraga: Calm down, Beatrix. All of you make for Diaspora.
Vaseraga: I alone can take him.
Zeta: Do you realize what you're saying! You saw for yourself what he's capable of!
Beatrix: That's right! He didn't even flinch going up against us three!
Vaseraga: That's exactly why we can't afford to waste too much manpower on him. Besides...
Vaseraga: Don't count me out yet.
Mahira: Vaseraga, in addition to adding insulators to your armor, there's one other thing I'd like to try.
Vaseraga: Does it have to do with the recoil modifications you made to the seal weapons?
Mahira: Good, you already know where this is going.
Mahira: Alandus's research allowed me to modify the seal weapons, and that got me thinking.
Mahira: I believe I can I apply similar modifications to your armor.
Vaseraga: I've tried methods before to block Grynoth from completely overtaking me.
Vaseraga: Are you saying there's a different way to deal with it?
Mahira: Yes. Rather than blocking anything, I'll have the energy flow reversed so that your body isn't affected to begin with.
Mahira: Using what we already know about seal weapons, I can increase the energy efficiency.
Vaseraga: I have no reason to refuse. Please do what you can.
Mahira: Just one thing though: your relationship with Grynoth is very different from that of the others contractors and their weapons.
Mahira: Since Grynoth's roots have already fused with your body...
Mahira: Dampening the armor's restraints, which act as a deterrent, could be especially dangerous in your case.
Mahira: If your resonance with Grynoth should ever surpass the threshold, I can't be sure what kind of reaction might occur.
Vaseraga: I see...
Mahira: Forgive me for even suggesting something that could potentially pose a great risk.
Mahira: That's why I wanted to make sure you were on board with this.
Vaseraga: Thank you, Mahira. My stance remains the same: I have no reason to refuse.
Zeta: Wait a sec... Don't tell me you plan on resonating with Grynoth!
Vaseraga: I don't know yet. But if we're going to make it through this, I might have to push past my limits too.
Eustace: Vaseraga... Don't tell me you plan on going out in a blaze of glory!
Vaseraga: I can't see into the future. Whatever happens, I need to buy you enough time to take on Diaspora.
Eustace: You really okay with this?
Vaseraga: Took the words right out of my mouth. Let's not forget you're the key to defeating Diaspora, Eustace.
Eustace: I know...
Vaseraga: Good. I've got this.
Zeta: Vaseraga... You sure you don't need me around?
Vaseraga: I do need you... to stop Diaspora.
Zeta: All right, all right! I get the picture!
Vaseraga: Go!
Dex: Haah!
Vaseraga swings his scythe at Dex to draw his attention away from the others. Dex shrugs off the attacks.
Vaseraga: You don't seem to mind letting them get away.
Dex: There's no point chasing them. Wasting my time on those who pose little threat would be illogical.
Vaseraga: You underestimate us.
Dex: You know, it might be fun to crush you. I can already feel my adrenaline circuit pumping just thinking about it.
Vaseraga: I have no idea what that means!
Dex: Humph!
Vaseraga: Graaah!
Dex: Not bad. I wouldn't mind spending a bit of adrenaline on you.
Gwynne: Commander Ilsa, what do we do! Your orders, please!
With Dex so close to the makeshift base, Ilsa scrutinizes the battle of the two heavyweights.
Ilsa: This calls for a change of plans.
Ilsa: I was going to have you carry Yama to Diaspora's position, but...
Ilsa: I was so wary of that moon warrior Dex that we lost our chance.
Gwynne: But doesn't the fact that he's headed straight this way mean that he's after Yama?
Ilsa: He must've recognized it was a threat to Diaspora...
Ilsa: I have no idea how he sniffed out the weapon, but that seems to be the most likely scenario.
Ilsa: We're staying put. Defend the base at all costs!
Gwynne: Yes ma'am!
Ilsa: Depending on the circumstances, we may have to use the weapon on that moon warrior.
Gwynne: Huh? Shouldn't we save it for Diaspora?
Ilsa: You've seen what that man can do. If things start to get rough for Armored Chicken...
Dex: Is that all you've got? I wouldn't want my adrenaline to go to waste.
Vaseraga: Ngh... Hraagh!
Dex: Hm. I thought I had done my research on fossildwellers, but you are one especially tough opponent.
Dex: But ultimately, you're essentially a failed automagod.
Dex: I'm done playing with you. You've left me with more than enough adrenaline to accomplish my mission.
Vaseraga: No!
Dex: Huh?
Just as Dex is about to break into a sprint, Vaseraga leaps at him and tries to put him into a submission hold.
Vaseraga: I won't let you!
Dex: Think you can best me in pure strength? How illogical. Your chances of success are 0.004% at best.
Vaseraga: Rgh!
Dex continues taking one step after another toward the base, dragging Vaseraga along.
Dex: How's that? Want me to quicken the pace a bit?
Vaseraga: ...!
Clinging desperately to Dex, Vaseraga tightens his grip around his scythe.
Vaseraga: Grynoth... I must surpass this moon warrior!
Vaseraga: I can't allow him to get any further! I have to protect everyone...
Vaseraga: Take me for all I'm worth, Grynoth! My power is yours!
Vaseraga: Great Scythe Grynoth! Use my soul to shape your blade!
Vaseraga: Hrrragh!
Dex: Huh?
Vaseraga: Graaagh!
Grynoth's roots pierce through Vaseraga's armor and wrap around Dex's body with great force.
Ilsa: Could that be? Grynoth!
Gwynne: Whatever's happening there, the moon warrior's stopped moving!
Ilsa: Looks like a stalemate...
Ilsa: Armored Chicken, do you copy! You'd better be alive!
Having caught sight of the situation from the base, Ilsa yells into the transceiver.
Vaseraga's Voice: Yeah, barely...
Ilsa: Good! Get away from him when I give the signal! Let's time this right and blast him away!
Vaseraga's Voice: I can't follow that order. If I let go, he'll make it to the base in an instant.
Vaseraga's Voice: Not even anti-primal ordnance would stop him!
Ilsa: Damn it!
Vaseraga's Voice: And Grynoth is hell-bent on acting like a bucking bronco. I'm losing my grip on it.
Ilsa: What?
Vaseraga's Voice: Ilsa, I take it you have Yama with you?
Ilsa: Wait, Armored Chicken! You don't mean...
Vaseraga's Voice: Point the weapon at Dex and use it.
