The Cruelest Blade

After making progress in drawing out the Four-Sky Blade's power, Feower and the crew are taken by surprise when the weapon speaks. The soul of its previous wielder is the source of the voice, explaining the bloodlust that drove them to kill and eventually be killed by the Revenant weapon. It claims that Feower will suffer the same fate, but Feower, with friends by his side, swears he will overcome it.

(Captain) and the others help Feower in his quest to master the Four-Sky Blade.
The captain and the Eternal spar day in and day out.
They believe progress is being made as the weapon's power is gradually drawn out.
Lyria: Wow! Look at how shiny it's gotten!
Vyrn: Yeah, like it's wrapped in some sorta aura! Feels different from the glow it used to give off though.
Feower: ...
Feower: Too bad that's the only change.
Feower: I haven't been able to obtain that same power I felt when I was being controlled by it.
Feower: We've scoured old books and scoped out some ruins but found no useful info to go on. This is a dead end.
Feower: At least if it was talking again, I could try to pry out a few clues.
Vyrn: Hm... True. This thing's quieter than a sack of feathers.
Lyria: Gooood mooorniiing!
Feower: Geez! Wh-what the heck was that all about?
Lyria: Ehehe... Maybe it's just sleeping.
Vyrn: Ahaha! Yeah, right! Whoever heard of a sleeping weap—
Four-Sky Blade: Shut the hell up, ya damn brats!
Vyrn and Lyria: Eeep!
Lyria and Vyrn immediately grab each other, screaming at the top of their lungs.
Meanwhile the Four-Sky Blade that had scolded them floats lazily into the air.
Feower: ...!
Vyrn: Were you actually sleeping?
Four-Sky Blade: Gyehehe! Don't be stupid! I wanted to make you jump out of your skin!
Four-Sky Blade: I've been awake this entire time, but I couldn't take any more of your tedious buffoonery.
Feower: Nice manners, dipwad.
Four-Sky Blade: Hahaha! Right back atcha, crap-for-brains.
Feower: Tch. (Captain)?
(Captain) nods, and they both prepare to engage the dagger.
However, it continues to laze about in the air, showing no intent to fight. It gives a drawn-out sigh.
Four-Sky Blade: Back off, imbeciles. I know your skulls are empty, but come on.
Four-Sky Blade: Don't tell me you're dumb enough to kill your golden goose.
Feower: Hah. Now you're willing to talk? Sounds like you're trying to weasel your way out.
Four-Sky Blade: Gyehehe! I've got nothing to hide.
Four-Sky Blade: In fact, my generosity knows no bounds. I felt sorry seeing you run around like headless chickens.
Four-Sky Blade: I just had to throw you a bone. Ya oughta be on your hands and knees thanking me.
Lyria: Um, what are you trying to do? Why did you possess Feower?
Four-Sky Blade: Like I said, I'm too nice for my own good. You should've heard that little boy blubbering. "Please gimme power. Help me. Boo-hoo-hoo."
Feower: Bastard...
Four-Sky Blade: Calm down, chump. I'll tell ya what we're really after.
Feower: We?
Four-Sky Blade: Scoop out your earwax and listen.
Four-Sky Blade: We are one with the Four-Sky Blade but not of the Four-Sky Blade.
Four-Sky Blade: Consider us the grime that's been collecting on it since long before any of you popped into this world.
Vyrn: Huh? I still don't get it.
Four-Sky Blade: We're the residue after the Four-Sky Blade squeezed our talents dry.
Feower: Wait... Are you saying you're one of the dagger's past wielders?
Four-Sky Blade: Gyehehe! Maybe your head ain't so empty after all. What a relief.
Four-Sky Blade: So this next tidbit shouldn't make your head spin either.
Four-Sky Blade: The Four-Sky Blade is a savage weapon sheathed in a non-venomous poison.
Lyria: How can poison not be poisonous?
Four-Sky Blade: Oh, please. This isn't airship science.
Four-Sky Blade: I'm talking about a deadly poison that always claims its victims, including the dagger users themselves. Yet it's not a toxin.
Feower: I've never heard of a poison like that.
Four-Sky Blade: Really? Nah, surely you have, especially you, Feower. Because that poison is called...
Four-Sky Blade: Bloodlust.
Feower: ...!
Four-Sky Blade: The Four-Sky Blade is a mass of pure murderous intent, plain and simple.
Four-Sky Blade: Kill. Maim. Destroy. The fuel that powers its slaughtering ways.
Four-Sky Blade: One minute it's stabbing a person or an animal, the next it's a monster, a primal beast, or some Astral trash! There are things it's killed you can't even imagine.
Four-Sky Blade: With every life taken, it whittles away at the wielder's soul.
Four-Sky Blade: Until all that's left is their searing bloodlust, which keeps the blade sharp and increasingly deadly.
Four-Sky Blade: In short, we killed using the Four-Sky Blade. Then it murdered us, and this is what's left of our downfall.
Vyrn and Lyria: ...
Four-Sky Blade: Now we're looking to add one more to the collection. You, Feower.
Feower: Excuse me?
Four-Sky Blade: Your bloodlust smells delicious, and the blade only eats the finest meals.
Vyrn: H-hold on there! Are you sayin' the dagger's tryin' to steal Feower's soul or something?
Feower: So all that crap it told me before was a big fat lie.
Four-Sky Blade: Gyehehe! Nah, not all of it. The Four-Sky Blade is truly enamored by your desire for power.
Four-Sky Blade: But that's not the half of it.
Feower: There's more to this?
Four-Sky Blade: Hell if I know what it's really after. You think this blade shares its feelings with us?
Four-Sky Blade: Consider this. Think about how powerful it's become after years and years of accumulating bloodlust.
Four-Sky Blade: Gyehehe! What the hell's it trying to slay anyway? Practically everything worth killing should've been obliterated by now!
Feower: ...
Four-Sky Blade: Hey, congratulations on feeding the Four-Sky Blade. Ya polished it up nice and good.
Four-Sky Blade: Feower, your dream of becoming the strongest is definitely knocking on the door.
Four-Sky Blade: You ready to fling it open though, knowing that the blade's homicidal impulses are on the other side?
Four-Sky Blade: Make one wrong move, and you won't have time to worry about your loved ones as your soul fades to black.
Four-Sky Blade: You know better than anyone else what I'm getting at. Right, Feower?
Four-Sky Blade: Gyehehe. What's it gonna be? Still confident you can pull in the reins on this baby?
Feower: ...
  1. Feower's changed. He can do it.
  2. That's so kind of you, Four-Sky Blade.

Choose: Feower's changed. He can do it.

(Captain) hasn't lost confidence in the Eternal.
Feower: (Captain)...

Choose: That's so kind of you, Four-Sky Blade.

Four-Sky Blade: Huh?
The blade freezes in the air, confused by (Captain)'s words.
(Captain) places a hand on Feower's shoulder and smiles at him.
Feower: ...

The captain tells the Eternal not to worry; the Four-Sky Blade will under no circumstances erase his soul.
Feower doesn't need to ask for reassurance when he can feel the powerful conviction in (Captain)'s voice.
Feower: (Hahaha... Man, if you've got that much faith in me, I'd be a loser to wuss out now.)
Feower: I'm shocked. It sure is kind of the blade to worry about me.
Four-Sky Blade: You think this is the time for laughs? What's up with that messed up confidence of yours?
Four-Sky Blade: Need I remind you, that flimsy thing you call a heart was already corrupted once by the Four-Sky Blade
Lyria: Yes, but Feower understands his weaknesses! That's what makes him strong!
Vyrn: Hehehe, haven't you heard? This guy's actually learned how to rely on others now.
Feower: Tch. I'll deal with you later, lizard...
  1. Feower's stronger than he used to be!

Choose: Feower's stronger than he used to be!

Lyria nods enthusiastically.
Lyria: We believe in him!
Feower: I have friends I can trust. I'm not alone anymore.
Feower: I'm not going to do your bidding. I won't destroy the world. But I'll prove I can use your murderous power to protect my loved ones.
Four-Sky Blade: Tch... Strong words, little boy.
Four-Sky Blade: All right, let's see how well that goes.
The Revenant weapon suddenly falls to the ground.
Feower is empowered by his friends' trust and his newfound determination.
Plucking up his courage, he bends down and picks up the Four-Sky Blade.
