Created by the Stars, Loved by the Skies - The Sky's Future - Chapter 4: The World's Answer - Episode 3

Cosmos has been automatically transported to the Sky Realm by the arbitration system in order to destroy the singularity. She asks (Captain) to defeat her instead, but Geo refuses to let that happen. A talk about what is best for the world ensues.

Lyria: You're Cosmos...
Rosetta: You've come from the Astral Realm? But how...
Cosmos: My creator ensured that I would be able to transport this body to the Sky Realm—though only once.
Lyria: Only once?
Cosmos: My presence here is meant to be a last resort.
Cosmos: I have manifested in the Sky Realm only to deal with the threat to the world that the singularity presents.
Cosmos: Currently, there exists no power in the Sky Realm that can eliminate the singularity in my stead.
Cosmos: Thus a path opened up between the two realms so that I could fulfill that goal.
Lyria: Eliminate the singularity? But we spoke to Yuni...
Cosmos: I'm aware. It was I who sent Yuni to speak with you.
Cosmos: Through her, I was able to reverse a judgment that had been passed.
Cosmos: Under normal circumstances, my role should have ended the moment (Captain) chose to continue living...
Cosmos: But the world—or rather, the arbitration system known as Cosmos—will not allow that to happen.
Rosetta: Meaning this is just as much of a surprise for you.
Cosmos: Yes. Causality's reset was incomplete, and so I've manifested.
Cosmos: I must deliver arbitration's judgment by my own hand.
Vyrn: What's that supposed to mean? You're gonna be the one to finish off (Captain)?
Cosmos: That may be the result if the world demands it.
Medusa: Gah! From one arbitrator to another! You'd better be the last one!
Nezha: If I'm understanding this right, (Captain), as the singularity, has the option of eliminating you as well?
Cosmos: Indeed.
Cosmos: Should the world desire the singularity's survival, a catastrophe spanning the entire realm can be avoided.
Cosmos: But it will also spell the end of arbitration's role.
Cosmos: Singularity, you've already made your choice before Yuni.
Cosmos: Raise your sword—
Geo: Not if I have anything to say about it!
Geo's angry bellowing nearly drowns out Cosmos's calm voice.
Geo: Please don't tell me you're going to abandon this world and its primals too!
Geo: Doesn't matter if you're the one who created me.
Geo: I'm not just gonna sit idly by while you let yourself be annihilated!
Cosmos: Surrogate... You say those words out of your duty to Cosmos's arbitration.
Cosmos: You will be free of that obligation once I am no more.
Cosmos: You no longer need to be bound.
Geo: I never minded being bound to my duty!
Geo: No matter how you put it...
Geo: I've felt every bit of pain and sadness that primal beasts have had to go through...
Geo: And there's no way I can just close my eyes and forget about it all until the end of my days!
Geo: Not in a million years!
Cosmos: ...
Cosmos's eyes widen in surprise, then she turns to Zooey.
Cosmos: My other surrogate.
Zooey: Yes.
Cosmos: Where do you stand on the matter?
Cosmos: What do you desire for the world?
Zooey: I manifested in response to mortals' collective wishes to protect this world.
Zooey: So what I desire may be tied to my duty as well...
Zooey: But I seek the world's preservation.
Cosmos: Even if it means the end of arbitration?
Zooey: Yes.
Cosmos: I see...
With a light sigh, Cosmos casts her gaze downward.
Cosmos: Two surrogates in the same place, each standing on opposite ends...
Cosmos: It's no wonder contradictions have arisen with the arbitration system.
Cosmos: Then again, it may simply be a natural result of the world operating as a scale.
Zooey: No, Cosmos.
Cosmos: Hm?
Zooey: I believe it has more to do with the heart.
Zooey: The heart is filled with contradictions, often weighing it down and leading to great sorrow.
Zooey: However, the wishes that led to my creation were also born from the heart.
Cosmos: Ah, yes... The heart...
Cosmos: (It is something I once deemed unnecessary and distanced myself from... Rather, I ran from it.)
Cosmos: I ask the rest of you as well, the open-minded adventurers who travel the world with (Captain).
Cosmos: What do you make of the relationship between people and primals? And their place in the world?
The crew members look to each other.
Katalina: As a former soldier of the Erste Empire, I once played a role in stripping primals of their power.
Katalina: But ever since meeting Lyria and coming on (Captain)'s journey...
Katalina: I came to realize that those I had seen as nothing more than a source of power have feelings and emotions just like us.
Katalina: It made me see the world in a whole new light.
Katalina: That's why I believe it's possible to change as long as we all stay positive and curious.
Rackam: I grew up in Port Breeze, which is practically Tiamat's backyard.
Rackam: So I've always felt close to primals and saw 'em as friends.
Rackam: It wasn't until I started traveling around that I realized there's a lot more to primals than I thought...
Rackam: That's why I'm happy for the opportunity to meet so many of 'em nowadays.
Baal: Yes... It's not a simple matter.
Baal: Having lived for a very long time, I still remember the days when mortals and primals saw each other as nothing more than enemies.
Satyr: But when you consider how we so casually chat, laugh, and travel together nowadays...
Satyr: Doesn't it seem like such a beautiful thing? It's almost a miracle.
Medusa: Never been too fond of mortals myself.
Satyr: Aw, c'mon now, Meddy!
Medusa: I'm not saying I want them to drop dead or anything.
Medusa: I mean, we're all just trying to find our place in this world.
Medusa: It's not like the world belongs to either side.
Medusa: We just happen to share the same habitat—that's all there is to it.
Medusa: Mortals and primals might clash every now and then, but that's only natural.
Cosmos: True...
Cosmos hears everyone out, nodding to herself.
