On the Azure Blade's Honor

Hearing of a sky-walking giant who searches for the singularity, Charlotta warns the crew of impending danger and so they depart from town on the Grandcypher. But shortly after liftoff, the footsteps of a giant begin shaking the airship.

A curious rumor being spread around town reaches the crew's ears.
Charlotta: A giant that walks the skies?
Townsman: That's the rumor going around islands in these parts. It walks places without ground to stand on... like this.
Townsman: According to skyfarers who went to get a closer look, it's more like the giant is standing on the bottom of the skies rather than actually walking the skies.
Charlotta: I find this rather difficult to believe... What could a giant so large possibly want?
Townsman: Nothing, it would seem. Even when any airship or monster approaches, the giant pays them no heed and simply goes about its stroll.
Charlotta: Well, that certainly is a big relief...
Townsman: For sure. If the giant were the aggressive kind, it could easily tear an island to pieces. Although...
Charlotta: Yes?
Townsman: I also heard that it seems to be in search of something.
Townsman: Every now and then, it speaks in a terrifying voice.
Giant: Ytyralungys...
Townsman: Never heard anything like it, but some say it's the word for "singularity."
Townsman: No clue what that means though.
Charlotta: ...!
Charlotta: Thank you for the info!
Charlotta rushes to the tavern to tell the crew what she's just learned.
Vyrn: Some giant's in search of (Captain)?
Charlotta: Yes. The sooner we leave town, the better.
Charlotta: Rumor has it that the giant stands at the depths of the heavens and has the power to overturn the very skies. It wanders about in search of (Captain).
Charlotta: I cannot help but think that this giant is one of the Six Dragons.
Vyrn: If we're to believe True Sparkly, those dragons are supposed to attack the moment they spot (Captain).
Charlotta: And if the dragons are all giants, a skirmish could be devastating for surrounding islands.
Charlotta: Fortunately, the giant that's been spotted seems to be interested in only (Captain). Meaning we can move elsewhere to avoid people getting caught in the crossfire.
Vyrn: True, we'd better get going soon.
They cut their rest short and rush to get their belongings back to the Grandcypher.
A giant who stands at the depths of the skies—as implausible as it may seem, its existence does not appear to be a mere exaggeration.
The fact that word of the singularity has spread in this land unfamiliar to the crew is sufficient evidence for Charlotta.
Charlotta: I have a rough idea of the places the giant has been spotted in. First, we want to get away from—
Charlotta: ...!
Vyrn: Somethin' felt real funny just now...
(Captain) could feel it too—a glance in the crew's direction.
Charlotta: (Captain)...
Charlotta puts on a stern face...
She steels herself for whatever may come.
Vyrn: Urk! The ship's shakin'! Is our engine shot?
After a brief reprieve, the ship begins shaking again.
Vyrn: Doesn't seem like engine trouble or a gust of wind from how it keeps happenin'... The heck could it be...
Charlotta: The shaking's getting worse. Almost as if—
???: Ytyralungys...
Vyrn: You hear that just now? Uh-oh, don't tell me...
Charlotta: The giant's footsteps!

On the Azure Blade's Honor: Scene 2

Galleon appears before the crew and hurls a giant boulder and then an island at them. Intent on keeping everyone safe, Charlotta grips her Claíomh Solais tight and recalls a past memory.

Vyrn: A giant's footsteps... It's gotta be one of the Six Dragons!
Charlotta: From the aura it's giving off, that seems very likely!
Vyrn: Gah, here we go again! Weird thing is we're shakin' too even though we're on a ship!
Charlotta: This may be their power at work, operating outside the confines of nature.
Vyrn: We're havin' trouble just stayin' afloat! If we get attacked now...
Charlotta: Fortunately, the giant appears to be nowhere in sight. Now is our chance to regroup—
Everyone is on tenterhooks as the shaking and gusts of wind grow fiercer.
Charlotta: ...!
Vyrn: Wha...
The crew is rendered speechless when a shadow large enough to block the sun descends upon the Grandcypher.
???: Ytyralungys...
The giant's head, towering so high over the crew that it's barely visible, lets out an eerie voice.
Vyrn: This thing came outta nowhere! We couldn't even see it before!
???: Llasm tey a yrdust roloc. Ghuothla...
Galleon: I ma neve reyrdust.
Charlotta: Galleon! As I suspected!
Vyrn: Galleon's one of the Six Dragons that True Sparkly mentioned!
They carefully steer the ship to create some distance from the dragon.
Galleon watches with great interest as the Grandcypher reaches maximum speed.
Galleon: Evyssempry deesp.
It clenches its fists—fists large enough to hurl an entire island.
Gravel leaks from the dragon's fingertips as massive boulders form within its grasp.
Galleon: Tub woh yrdust era uoy?
It then effortlessly tosses the boulders.
Vyrn: Uh-oh!
Charlotta: That is certainly cause for concern!
Charlotta: (Captain)! To the stern!
Charlotta: Haaah!
Charlotta and (Captain) rush to the back of the ship to set up a defensive spell.
Charlotta: Rgh!
Though they somehow manage to ward off the cascade of boulders...
Charlotta: Guaah!
The overwhelming impact knocks them aside.
Vyrn: Crud! You two okay?
Charlotta: How shameful... But I will not be bested so easily!
Galleon: Evyssempry.
Charlotta: Ngh!
Suffering a grave wound after just a single blow, Charlotta glares menacingly at the dragon.
Behind the crew is the town they were visiting.
Charlotta: (The aftershock of that attack reached the town!)
Though the town itself is left unscathed, a collision on the outskirts of the island results in smoldering debris.
Vyrn: Darn it! What are we supposed to do!
Galleon: Tel su ytr ngythemos else.
Galleon clasps her arms together, forming a massive boulder within them.
Galleon: Ytr ngyshasm syth.
The dragon holds a crag the size of an island.
Charlotta: ((Captain)'s in tatters after the previous attack! This next one could spell doom for us!)
Charlotta: (But if we retreat, the nearby islands will take the brunt of it!)
Galleon: Ereh Y og.
Charlotta: Huff... Huff...
Ngh!
Holding her greatsword Claíomh Solais up high, Charlotta incites herself to action.
Charlotta: My azure blade is proof of my conviction!
Charlotta: What worth is a holy knight who cannot protect their friends and innocent civilians!
Charlotta recalls the memory of the time she first held Claíomh Solais in her hands.

On the Azure Blade's Honor: Scene 3

A long time ago, Charlotta joined the Lumiel Order of Holy Knights in pursuit of a holy knight who saved her life. Her physical limitations as a Harvin made things difficult, but she worked extraordinarily hard and eventually rose to the rank of captain, along with which came the Claíomh Solais. Swearing on her pride as a holy knight, she and (Captain) face Galleon head on.

It was from a young age that Charlotta grew determined to become a holy knight one day.
Charlotta: ...
Charlotta's village is attacked by monsters. She barely escapes with her life, only to then collapse on the snowy plains.
Holy Knight: Thank goodness... She's still breathing.
Charlotta: Augh...
Holy Knight: It's okay now. I'll bring you somewhere safe.
Charlotta: ...
The holy knight strips off a coat, wrapping it around Charlotta and lifting her up.
Charlotta: (It's so warm...)
The chilly wind blows against the holy knight's armor, making it no different from the snow itself.
Yet the sight of the young Charlotta being safe and sound is enough to keep the cold at bay.
Charlotta: Who... are you?
Holy Knight: I am a mere holy knight. My name is of little importance.
Charlotta's recollection of the event is fuzzy, so parts of this conversation may be her filling in the gaps.
However...
Charlotta: (An azure... blade...)
Her memory of the azure blade hanging from the holy knight's waist is as clear as day.
The experience left an indelible mark on Charlotta's heart.
While researching the whereabouts of that holy knight, Charlotta learned of the Lumiel Order of Holy Knights and made it her goal to enlist one day.
Knight 1: Hold on a second. A Harvin as a knight?
Knight 2: At your size, you wouldn't last long in a skirmish... Have you considered maybe using guns or magic instead?
Charlotta was told as much more than a few times.
Young Charlotta: Rgh! No! It is with a sword that I wish to save people!
Young Charlotta: Only the sword can lead me down a path that is forever pure, forever righteous!
No matter what anyone would tell her, the azure blade she saw that fateful day now served as the driving force behind her actions.
Minister: His Eminence has left me with a message.
Minister: Fine members of the Lumiel Order of Holy Knights, I must commend you for your diligence and your faith.
Minister: I hereby confer each of you with a sword that symbolizes your status as an elite holy knight.
The Elite: Yes sir!
Gathered in the room are those formally recognized as the finest knights of the order.
With the Claíomh Solais in hand, Charlotta stands proudly beside her fellow elites.
Minister: I have the following words as well to commemorate the occasion.
Minister: Charlotta Fenia, Captain of the Lumiel Order of Holy Knights.
Charlotta: Ah... Yes sir!
Charlotta can scarcely believe the announcement.
Minister: As you may already know, the Claíomh Solais grows with its wielder.
Minister: As long as you never forget the exceptional effort you've put in to come this far and remain steadfast in your convictions, it may eventually grow into a greatsword larger than yourself.
Minister: I look forward to seeing how far you take the Claíomh Solais, for it will be a reflection of your own virtues.
Charlotta: ...!
Charlotta: I will give it my best effort!
His Eminence's words come as a great surprise to Charlotta.
Such an event is unprecedented in the order's history of conferment ceremonies.
At this point in time, the Claíomh Solais is no larger in size than a knife.
Charlotta: I realize I have not reached my peak, and my inexperience may have led to this outcome... However!
Charlotta: As long as I hold the Claíomh Solais and its edge remains ever bright, I will continue to fight...
Charlotta: And to protect others! That is what I—Lumiel Holy Knight Charlotta Fenia—have sworn to do!
Charlotta: Even Galleon of the Six Dragons cannot crush the strength of my will!
Galleon: Hm?
With a battle cry, Charlotta raises her azure blade high overhead.
A flash of divine light seems to pierce the heavens.
Charlotta: Even if I must sacrifice myself...
Charlotta: ...!
You're...
In her moment of desperation, the holy knight from all those years ago seems to appear beside Charlotta.
Charlotta: Ah... (Captain)!
For a second, Charlotta mistakes (Captain) for a holy knight.
Charlotta: May we be victorious and return safely!
The brief vision of the holy knight causes Charlotta's resolve to change from sacrificing herself to surviving through this ordeal.
Galleon: Hrgh!
The two turn to Galleon, who is just about to hurl an island.
Charlotta: Now, (Captain)!
Charlotta: I will not allow this dragon to harm anyone!

On the Azure Blade's Honor: Scene 4

Responding to her will to protect everyone, Charlotta’s Claíomh Solais transforms into a giant sword. Between herself and (Captain), they have enough power to smash the island-sized boulder and get through to Galleon. With the crisis averted, Charlotta vows to keep bettering herself in hopes of eventually meeting the holy knight who once saved her life.

Galleon: Rgh!
The hurled island approaches the Grandcypher with great force.
Charlotta: Haaaah!
A battered and bruised Charlotta musters every last bit of strength to swing her sky-piercing blade of light.
Charlotta: Beside me are my dear friends, and behind me are innocent civilians! I must save them all with my sword!
Charlotta: Forever pure, forever righteous—I will not die with ambitions unrealized!
The light emanating from Claíomh Solais converges to form a blue crystal.
The blade itself becomes large enough to cleave an airship in two.
Charlotta: To smite those who would do us harm! Blade of Light, Claíomh Solais Díon!
The azure blade takes the brunt of the island hurled at the Grandcypher.
Charlotta: Ngh!
The next moment, (Captain)'s blade hammers into Charlotta's, and the resulting impact demolishes the island.
Galleon: Urk!
Charlotta: Yaaargh!
Keeping up the momentum after cleaving the island, Claíomh Solais Díon's tip comes down on Galleon.
Galleon: Guh!
The azure blade makes contact with Galleon's brow, causing its giant body to shake.
Charlotta: Huff... Huff... Thank you for the assistance, (Captain)!
Galleon: Hm...
(Captain) and Charlotta can barely stand. Meanwhile, Galleon wipes its brow in curiosity.
Galleon: Eth ytyralungys nda eth ndomayd...
Galleon: Psarhep Y nac stet ruoy ssenyrdust by retho sneam...
Galleon mutters something to itself, then takes off with loud footsteps.
Vyrn: Seems like it went off somewhere...
Charlotta: That does appear to be the case.
Charlotta: Phew...
Vyrn: Whoa! You two gonna be okay?
Charlotta: How embarrassing... I can barely stand...
Vyrn: Let's head back to town. Our ship's pretty beat up anyway.
Charlotta: I'm just glad we're safe, even if we did take some damage...
Vyrn: Heck yeah, it's a miracle we pulled through at all.
With Galleon no longer in sight, the Grandcypher makes an about-face.
Charlotta: ...
Charlotta: (Sacrificing myself should not have even been a consideration...)
Charlotta: (After all, I have yet to thank the holy knight for saving me that day.)
Shortly after Charlotta became a commanding officer in the order...
She had gone out of her way to attempt to track down the personal details of the holy knight.
However, from family histories to sortie and enrollment records, she could find nothing relevant.
Charlotta: (Where could you have gone...)
Charlotta: (Whatever the case, I have a feeling we will cross paths again someday.)
Charlotta: (Until then, I will continue to better myself.)
Lying on the Grandcypher's deck, Charlotta gazes at the sky above.
Keeping her tiny wish close to her heart, she vows to continue on with her duty as a holy knight.
