By Any Means Necessary

A few days after his conversation with the One-Rift Spear, Anre shares his thoughts with (Captain). Though he recognizes the contradiction in his ideals, Anre wholeheartedly believes he can accomplish anything with his friends at his side, and asks the captain for help in pursuing them. (Captain) readily agrees, vowing to fight by his side until the end.

A few days have passed since Anre's conversation with the One-Rift Spear.
Vyrn: You said you wanted to tell us something... Did you find out how to draw out even more power from your spear?
Anre: Not quite. I actually had a conversation with the One-Rift Spear a few nights ago and wanted to hear your thoughts.
(Captain) and the others are shocked to hear this revelation from Anre.
Lyria: What! You were able to talk with One-Rift Spear again?
Vyrn: A few nights ago? And you waited this long to tell us!
Vyrn: Well? What'd it have to say?
Anre: Hehe... It's quite a long story. Let me start from the beginning.
Anre shares the story of the man who wielded the One-Rift Spear during the War, and the spear's warning of such power.
Anre: The power to rid the skies of conflict was violence itself... I believe that's what it wanted to tell me.
Anre: It was a truth I didn't want to admit, and the One-Rift Spear certainly didn't pull any punches.
Anre: Once again, I was reminded that perhaps my aspirations may simply be nothing but a pipe dream.
Lyria: You don't seem too disappointed about it, Anre.
Vyrn: Yeah... All things considered, I'd say you even look a little glad right now.
Anre: You may be right... Why do you think that is, (Captain)?
  1. You still haven't given up.
  2. You've found a new goal.

Choose: You still haven't given up.

Anre: Hehe... You've really grown to understand me over time.
Anre: I've been averting my gaze from the truth for long enough.
Anre: It's been made explicitly clear to me now, and I have no choice but to confront it head-on without hesitation. I've spent my entire life dedicated to this, after all.

Choose: You've found a new goal.

Anre: A new goal? I suppose you could call it that.
Anre: My ambitions remain as steadfast as ever. I've simply gained a new perspective on things.

Continue 1

Anre looks directly at (Captain).
Anre: The power to quell conflict and conflict itself are two sides to the same coin. It is a truth I can no longer ignore.
Anre: Regardless, I have no intention of giving up on my aspirations.
Anre: It was never going to be easy... In order to overcome the trials to come, I'll need wisdom and the strength to do everything I can.
Anre: An ideal is simply a guidepost. One may never obtain it, but without it they won't get anywhere.
Anre: No matter what hardship may come our way, I must be prepared as an Eternal to do everything in my power to turn my ideal into a reality.
Anre takes a deep breath before returning to the subject at hand.
Anre: I wanted to talk to you again today, (Captain), because I have a favor to ask of you.
Anre: You've awakened this weapon once before. That alone was proof enough for me that you may be my strongest ally.
Anre: I have no doubt that with you by my side, I'll be able to attain this dream one day.
Anre: I still haven't the faintest idea where this journey will end, I'm afraid, yet having an ally such as yourself is reassuring enough somehow for me.
Anre: You may think it to be ludicrous, but... can I count on you to be there as I chase these lofty aspirations?
  1. Of course!

Choose: Of course!

Anre's eyes widen with joy in response to (Captain)'s enthusiasm.
Anre: It seems that I was correct to put my faith in you, (Captain). I look forward to continuing to have you by my side.
Anre reaches his left hand out to (Captain).
The two shake hands, reaffirming their trust in one another.
Lyria: By the way, I've been meaning to ask you something.
Lyria: The One-Rift Spear... what kind of personality does, uh, it, have?
Vyrn: Now that you mention it, I wanna know too! What kinda spear are we dealing with here, exactly?
Vyrn: From what you told us, the One-Rift Spear sounds like a major pain in the butt to deal with.
Anre: A pain in the butt? Hehe... It wasn't the easiest spear to deal with at times.
Anre: But who can say? I was only offered a glimpse of its personality, after all.
Lyria: Oh! Sierokarte got us some really nice tea the other day!
Lyria: We have some sweets that would go perfectly with it too—you can keep telling us about it over some tea!
Anre: Now there's an idea I think we can all agree on... And if Sierokarte recommended it, I'm sure it'll be nothing short of sublime.
Vyrn: All right! We'll get everything fixed up in a jiffy, hold on!
(Captain) and the others head into the Grandcypher to make preparations for tea.
Anre watches them from behind, suddenly overcome with great emotion.
Anre: (I really am blessed to have met you, (Captain). Surely with you by my side, my resolve will never falter.)
Anre: (The day when I can tell you the truth about the Revenant weapons may come sooner than expected.)
Lyria: Anre! What's the matter?
Vyrn: If you don't get a move on, we're gonna get started without ya!
Anre: Oh, my apologies. I'll be right there.
Anre puts his thoughts aside for the moment and quickens his pace.
The words that brushed his mind would have to wait for another day. For the moment, there's tea to be had.
