Happy Birthday Cutscenes

1

Happy birthday, (Captain)! You free at all today?
You really helped me out during the fight against the abominations, and I want to thank you. Mind if I treat you to something?
Oh, no need to worry about robots popping out or anything. Marie picked the restaurant.
I mean, the only places I know about are machine part stores, so uh...
Anyway, let's go, (Captain)!

2

(Captain)! Happy birthday! I'm happy we get to celebrate your special day together!
Sometimes... when things get real busy, you forget the passing of time and then you suddenly remember it's your birthday!
That was me last year... I wonder if that ever happened to Kenji...
What am I talking about! It's time we got to celebrating! I'm ready!
Marie and Dr. Daimon are waiting on the research vessel!
Time for all of us to chow down together! What'dya say?

3

Hey! It's that special day again, (Captain)! Heh heh. I've got a surprise for you. Been planning it for a while now. Kenji and Daimon helped me out. We made so many cool robots... Whoops! Wouldn't want to spoil the surprise! All you need to know is we're gonna make this the best birthday ever. C'mon! To the lab! Happy birthday, (Captain)!

4

Happy birthday, (Captain).
It's nice that we've made this a regular thing, huh?
Whenever the big day gets close, I start to think about all the cool stuff we could do to celebrate.
I hope you're ready for this year's festivities. We'll do it big—and then we'll start getting ready for next year's party too!
Aah, even if the majority of the crew is a lot older than you, we'll still celebrate next year super hard.
Haha. I guess I'm getting ahead of myself. Come on, (Captain), we've still got this year's party!

5

Happy birthday, (Captain)! After some twists and turns, I'm here by myself today to celebrate with you!
Haha... Dr. Rashomon and Marie knew I'd get distracted with the lab and all, so they're looking after things there for me.
They told me to focus on celebrating your special day with you. You did save me a bunch of times, after all.
Do you have anything you wanna do in town, (Captain)? Shopping, eating... You name it!
What's the matter? Are you worried about me being away from the lab?
Darn, I shouldn't have said all that... Now I got you thinking about it for me.
But no worries! I figured this would happen, so I prepared accordingly.
Time to suit up!
That should do it! With this on, we'll be able to fly anywhere you want in a second!
All right, hold on tight! Let's go get your present, then we can head back to the lab together to celebrate!
Here we go!

1

It's a new year already? Wow, I've been a crew member for a long time.
Thanks for having me, (Captain). Being here has allowed me to accomplish everything I could've hoped for.
And thanks to the amazing test facilities, I've been able to improve my suit's capabilities, too!
Right, then! Let's usher in the dawn of another great year!

2

Hey there, (Captain)! The new year has begun!
What's my goal this year? Hmm... Let me think... Oh! I want to be more involved in helping you get things done!
I want to be in charge of supervising. Like watching you all work and making sure everyone comes home safely.
It must be the mechanical engineer in me. I watch things get made, and I watch the machines in action. I never want to see anyone get injured...
I guess I have the same feelings about the factory as I do for the battlefield.
So... Take me on more missions! Here's to more adventures, kid!

3

Happy New Year.
This year's resolution, huh... Don't upset Marie, I guess.
Hahaha... Nothing funny about it though.
This one time Dr. Rashomon, Hallessena, and I made a miniature Gigantes, and...
Well, we used a lotta red steel... The three of us got a real earful from Marie.
Hooo... That gave me goosebumps.
So this year, I'll change my ways and be more careful she doesn't find out...
Ah! Wait, you didn't hear that!
(Captain)! Please! Promise me you won't tell her!
Haha..

4

Happy New Year, (Captain)! Looks like we made it one more spin around the sky!
I have to say, this time of year is always a struggle. For some reason I get more repair calls than I know what to do with.
I guess everyone is pushing their machines too hard, maybe even ignoring the little warning signs along the way.
It might be a little busy, but I get to see all sorts of breakdown. Always a great chance to learn.
Machines are like living creatures. Lots of weak points that are hard to see just from a quick look.
It's all about looking at the design and seeing where you can make improvements. Nothing beats the feeling of stumbling upon the perfect solution.
Like right now I'm designing a robot that won't require maintenance for ten years! My resolution is to finish it! Haha!

5

Hmm... Let's see, what else...
Hm? Oh, (Captain)! Happy New Year!
Haha, sorry I didn't notice you right away. I was just writing down all the things I have to do this year in my notebook.
When it comes to machinery, the problems are endless. This gear's broken, that one needs to be oiled...
But those make the foundation for new inventions, so that's why it's important to list them up like this.
When it's less busy, I can look back at the list, and sometimes new ideas come to mind.
Haha... But strangely enough, my notebooks go missing a lot. I lost the previous one while doing some cleaning at the end of the year.
I've given up looking for it, so now I'm trying to remember what issues I came across before and writing them down all over again.
Huh? You'll keep me company?
Haha, okay. Then we can both look back at the previous year and share our memories with each other!

1

Wow, I'm not sure what to say, haha...
Oh, (Captain)! Look, I got chocolates from Marie!
Wait, you're giving me some, too? Geez, what's going on with me this year?
Hahaha! Anyway, thanks, (Captain)! I'll think of you when I eat them!

2

Hey there, (Captain). Oh, you've got chocolate for me this year too? Dahaha. Thank you.
There is something I want to ask about though...
Last year I told Marie that you gave me chocolate and she became upset.
Did I do something wrong?
(Captain), why are you sighing like that?
Why does this conversation make people uncomfortable? What did I do?

3

Happy Valentine's.
Oh. Thanks, (Captain). You really don't have to every year.
I don't seem too happy? No, no, I appreciate it.
I'm serious.
It's just that I'm thinking of not telling Marie that I got any chocolates from you this year.
But that makes me feel guilty for some reason!
Wh-what do I do, (Captain)?

4

Huh? Wow, I get chocolate again? Thank you, (Captain)!
Haha. Man, I'm living the good life. Since I met Marie, I've had nothing to complain about.
Sigh... Wait. I have to be careful where I eat these.
Gotta think about the black Gigante Suit, right?
If I set them down in my room, it'll grab 'em with a tentacley arm thing and eat 'em right up.
I've gotta keep them secret.
Huh? You'll give me some for it too? Haha, you're too kind, (Captain).
I bet it'll be happy too. Not sure it has that kind of emotional capacity though.

5

Yo, (Captain)! Oh? That's right... Today's Valentine's Day, huh?
Haha... I got so lost in my work, I guess I lost track of time...
Thanks for the chocolate, (Captain).
You know, until I met you, I mostly only dealt with mechas.
There were so many precious moments I almost missed out on. With Marie... The professor...
It was thanks to you that I realized this. I'm forever in your debt.
And I know I didn't make a big deal out of it, but this chocolate really made my day.
Thanks for everything, (Captain).

1

Oh, there you are, (Captain)! Here, this is in return for Valentine's!
What do you think? It's a super-small Robomi replica doll! And check this out... It walks too!
You don't seem too happy. Not a fan of robots and stuff, huh?
That's okay. I figured this would happen, so I made sure to buy a bunch of sweets for you too!

2

Hey, (Captain)! I wanted to give this to you!
Hm? Yeah, it's just normal candy. Were you expecting something else?
I know I usually go for mechanical stuff, but this time I wanted a change of pace and went to a candy shop.
In the shop they had this cool candy making machine! When you turned the lever a stick of candy would come out of a hole...
Then the blades would spin and the candy would get diced into evenly cut pieces...
Whoops... There I go again talking about machines... Sorry about that.
I never really know what else to talk about. Anyways, here's your gift. Enjoy!

3

(Captain)! Here! As thanks for Valentine's!
Heh heh. These might look like your ordinary confections...
But! They're actually high-tech spy-bots!
They've got tiny internal cameras all around, and can even absorb nearby metal to create legs and move around if needed!
Hahaha! Kidding, I'm kidding! They're just some assorted sweets.
But it sure would be cool to make robots like those one day...
...
As long as Marie doesn't find out...

4

Oh! (Captain)! Perfect timing!
Here, this is for giving me a present last month. Just a little something to wet your whistle. Ah, but I should mention I didn't make it.
Lately I've been doing more housework, so I was daydreaming of a bot that could take away some of the ol' fatherhood burden.
So, I made this little guy. He cleans, he does laundry, and he can even cook a whole cow before you know it!
I've finished with all of the trial runs now, so you wanna try some of his cooking? It'll be the first time in the whole sky that anyone's seen this kind of technology!
And that's not all! Here's some sweets I bought from the store. Sometimes the robot's cooking comes out a little funky, you see.
Haha. An engineer always has a backup plan.

5

Yo, (Captain)! I got you a little something in thanks for your Valentine's Day gift!
Haha! I know, I know... I'm probably doing this a bit earlier than you expected!
Yep... I made sure to get it done first thing today. That way I won't forget about it!
I've got to be the best role model I can be now, you see.
Remember what I told you on Valentine's Day? You taught me what truly matters.
Thanks to you, I realized what I needed to treasure in my life!
I guess that makes you somewhat of a role model for me! Hahaha!

Halloween has arrived at last...
Haha! If it's crazy tricks and surprises you want, just leave it to me, the mechanical engineer!
For starters, let's put together a legion of monstrous mechanical militia! Here I go, (Captain)!

2

Happy Halloween! (Captain), just look at this! I'm in the Gigante Suit costume!
I've been trying to fix the heat that's produced whenever I move, but...
I thought of a way to make use of it with an attachment. It's not a big part either. Amazing, right?
Hahaha! And look at this! If you put sugar into the arm piece, it makes cotton candy!
There won't be any problems handing out candy this year!
All right! I'm geared and ready for action!

3

Happy Halloween!
Actually, I've run into a bit of a... hiccup, you could call it.
I brought my suit to use as a costume, but when I put it on, it ate all my candy!
Never dreamed it would be able to eat things! This suit never ceases to amaze me!
Hm? Trick or treat?
N-no fair, (Captain)! You know I don't have any candy with me!
Haha. Oh well, rules are rules. Do what you have to.
Just... go easy on me, all right?

4

...
(Captain), you might be wondering why I'm in this getup. But I've been in costume since I woke up this morning.
You're not gonna believe it, but while I was sleeping I changed clothes.
Creeps me out moving involuntarily like that, but I bet my suit remembered today's candy day, so it—
Oof!
Eh-heh... I have to keep giving it candy or it pokes me in the stomach hard.
Sorry, but if you've got any on you, (Captain), I would really—
Erph!

5

...
Oh, (Captain)—
Oof!
S-sorry, I woke up like this again...
Geez, I guess this changing into a suit that's out for candy thing is happening every Halloween...
Ack!
Give me a break... It's nice and quiet when we're in front of Marie and the kids, but once we're outside, it's a whole different story.
I don't know if it's awake or asleep, but it's definitely got a mind of its own... Urk!
Sorry, (Captain). Looks like I gotta give it some candy to calm it down—
Erk... Haha, stop it! That tickles! (Captain), can you... Haha! Help me...
Hurry and stop this thing! Hahahaha!

1

Happy holidays! I've been laying the groundwork for tonight for ages!
Groundwork for what? Why, the decorations, of course! When the crew sees the mechanical wonders I've put up to celebrate, it's gonna blow their minds!
Let's celebrate like we mean it, (Captain)!

2

It's that time of the year again...
What am I so excited about? The decorations of course!
The number of crew members has increased and... We've got so many more young crew members, right?
I got appraisals from everyone who heard about what we did last year, so this year I'm going all out with the decorations!
Will you help me, (Captain)? Haha, thank you! All right, let's get a move on it!

3

Happy holidays, (Captain)!
Heh heh. Actually, we're all done with the decorations.
What are we doing this year?
Isn't it obvious? We're going to give out presents!
Your crew has a lot of younger ones, so we made little robot toys for each and every one of them!
I'm sure they'll love it!
C'mon, (Captain). Let's give 'em out together!

4

Happy holidays, (Captain)!
Haha. I bet I look like a mess. I was just repainting Gigantes.
It's because I was thinking about Santa. He's got that red coat and that white beard.
By adding some white to Gigantes, I thought I could give it a seasonal flair. Maybe call it the Santa Bot.
Its power is just what you'd expect—carrying loads and loads of presents like it's nothin'.
And its control system would continuously evolve, learning to give the perfect present to each and every kid based on age!
Haha. Pretty good idea, right? The bots I make aren't just for battle!

5

Hey, (Captain)! Happy holidays! I'm here with everyone from the lab to hand out presents again!
I look forward to this every year, you know. Everyone in the crew always tells me about so many interesting things.
Tzaka and Suframare give me all kinds of advice too.
Stuff like, "Let me know when looking after someone gets tough for you," or "Don't nip things in the bud in case you can learn something from them."
Haha. Now that I think about it, all I ever talk about with other people is work or my hobbies, so it's nice to have these conversations once in a while.
Not to mention, it's fun talking about the future with everyone here too... Haha, look at me rambling on!
Anyway, what I wanted to say is that I always have a great time celebrating the winter season with all of you!
Thanks for inviting me this year too, (Captain)!

Family Bonding

One day, Nicholas suggests a promising new control method for the destromatons inspired by Grand God Kaiser, and he and the others set to work bringing his idea to life. During a short break, Nicholas and family play with Tobias while reminiscing about childhood memories. Robomi and Kenji look on, their minds elsewhere.

Some time has passed since the primordial abomination Wardant appeared in the Sky Realm, pushing mankind to the brink of destruction.
The spawn of a singular ancient law, Wardant proved to be a formidable foe that not even the primal beast Zooey could defeat.
However, owing to the wish of Tyrias the Destroyer—a being neither man nor abomination—she obtained a new power.
Thus Ultra Robo Grand God Kaiser was born—the ultimate fusion of Super Robo Gigantes, the Lord of Destruction, and Zooey herself.
After a hard-fought battle, Nicholas and his friends emerged victorious against Wardant, and peace returned to the skies.
With the Sky Realm safe once more, Nicholas and company now sit in the workshop of the Rashomon Research Vessel, engaged in a highly technical discussion.
Dr. Rashomon: Nicholas, you mentioned Grand God Kaiser could give us a clue for how to complete the destromatons. What did you mean by that?
Nicholas: Well, you know how we all had to work together to move the Kaiser? That gave me an idea.
Nicholas gleefully spreads out the design schematics he'd been working on night after night and explains his theory.
Dr. Rashomon: Oho... I see. So basically, you intend to equip it with multiple brains.
Kenji: A single primary brain will issue simple commands to each of the secondary brains, and the secondary brains will carry them out. Interesting.
Nicholas: Up until now, the primary brain has been sending the command "Bend... Bend... Bend..." to the arm over and over.
Nicholas: But this time, I'll have the primary brain issue commands like "Extend the arm" and "Bend ninety degrees" to the secondary brains and let them handle the rest.
Daimon: If the secondary brains are taught patterned controls beforehand, they should be able to carry out the commands without issue.
Nicholas: When you think about it, there's probably no need for us to completely mimic the way a living organism's mind handles movement.
Nicholas: Even if we could, I feel like it's safer and more realistic to use patterns to control movement, rather than process unnecessary information.
Dr. Rashomon: Indeed. Perhaps we were too caught up trying to apply our know-how from the Gigante Suit and Super Robo Gigantes.
Nicholas: That being said, I can't even begin to imagine how many motion patterns will be needed to carry out normal movement. Haha.
Robomi: That can always be solved later down the line with a breakthrough like this one, Nicholas.
Kenji: That's a good point. Might as well see if we can't optimize the cost-performance ratio and make this into a reality.
Nicholas: Yeah. Now that I've had the idea, I'd like to see it through.
Nicholas: The archduke's also betting on me, believing the destromatons will help his people. That's all the more reason to complete them!
Having settled on an objective, they begin drawing up a blueprint with Nicholas's concept in mind.
Half a day passes before they finally decide to take a break.
Nicholas: Clang... Kaboom...
Daimon: What's that you've been fiddling with?
Daimon notices the model in Nicholas's hands and leans forward to get a better look.
Nicholas: This is a model of the Kaiser. Since it obviously didn't come with any blueprints, I thought I'd make a replica while the image is fresh in my mind.
Daimon: Hmm... It's quite well-made.
Nicholas: Looking at it like this reaffirms how incredible it was. The perfect combination of machine and muscle. I'm sure it'll be a useful reference in the future.
Marie: You say that, but the truth is you just wanted to play with models, am I right?
Daimon: Hm?
Nicholas: M-Marie! Hey, that's not true. I really—
Marie: Hehe, I'm just kidding. Here, I brought snacks. You're welcome to have some too, Daimon.
Tobias: Bwah!
Tobias comes toddling into the workshop after Marie and latches on to Nicholas's leg.
Nicholas: Toby! Well, aren't you just the sweetest thing! Did you come to play?
Tobias: Peh!
Tobias: Dai.
Daimon: Heh.
Tobias totters around the workshop, his wide, curious eyes taking in all the gadgets and gizmos surrounding him.
Tobias: Goo?
Dr. Rashomon: You want to see this device? Here, your grandpa will show you how it works.
Nicholas: Oh! Were you working, Doc? Sorry if he disturbed you...
Dr. Rashomon: No need to apologize. What grandpa wouldn't want to play with his very first grandson?
Dr. Rashomon: Isn't that right, Tobias?
Tobias: Yah!
Marie: Just make sure he doesn't hurt himself, okay, Dad?
Marie: Hey, Nicholas. Can I ask you something? You just got paid for a number of jobs... but when exactly did you complete so many?
Nicholas: Huh? Er... Haha, I guess the jig is up. They were all things I could do during my downtime, like while Toby was napping or before bed.
Marie: Downtime? But you research during the day and play with Toby at night—I can't seem to figure out when you'd have downtime. Are you getting enough sleep?
Nicholas: Well, it takes a while before research actually pays off. And we have to pay the bills somehow, right?
Marie: I mean, yes... But don't work yourself too hard, okay?
Nicholas: Don't worry, I won't. I've been in tip-top shape recently, actually. All because of you and Toby.
Nicholas smiles as he watches Tobias happily playing with his grandfather.
Tobias: Gyaha!
Dr. Rashomon: Bwahaha! You'll never escape the fearsome abomination, Rashomon!
Nicholas: See? Your dad's got some serious pep in his step too. All thanks to Toby.
Marie: Ahaha...
Tobias: Pa!
Dr. Rashomon: Don't tell me you plan to use... that! I think not!
Nicholas: Good heavens, Toby's in danger! But we still have a trick up our sleeve!
Tobias: Yah!
Nicholas: Hang on, I'll lend you my Kaiser model. Just need to put some tape over the sharp parts... Okay, here you go.
Tobias: Goo-gah!
Nicholas hands Tobias the model, and his son takes off running with it.
Tobias: A-booo!
Dr. Rashomon: Urgh! What power!
Tobias: Gwoooh!
Daimon: Hm?
Tobias: Gwoh! Gwoooh!
Tobias produces his own sound effects as he pokes the model into Daimon's side over and over.
Daimon: Hmph. You dare challenge me, Grand God Kaiser?
Tobias: A-booo!
Nicholas: What! Grand God Kaiser's punch isn't working?
Nicholas: Daimon must have been researching in secret and powered himself up too! In that case, it's time for our trump card!
Nicholas: Tobias!
Tobias: Yaaah!
Tobias raises his arms, and Nicholas lifts his son and places him gently on his shoulders.
Nicholas: Docking complete! Behold—Megafusion Robo Toby God Kaiser in all its glory!
Daimon: Oho, so you've shown your hand. Impudent fools. Prepare to meet your maker.
Marie: (These boys... Even Daimon got roped in.)
Dr. Rashomon: Use all the tricks you want, but you'll never defeat us—the mighty Abomination Brothers!
Tobias: Bwah! Dyaaah!
Nicholas: Oh, you want to use that move? Roger that!
Nicholas begins to spin around with Tobias on his shoulders, while his son holds his fists out toward Rashomon and Daimon.
Nicholas: Witness the bond of father and son! Hyper Megaton Punch!
Dr. Rashomon: Gyaaah!
Daimon: Gwoooh!
Tobias: Goo! Hee-hee-hee... Bam!
Marie: Oh no! I'm hit!
Tobias: Gyahaha! Goo-gah!
Nicholas: Hahaha! Did you see that? This is the true power of Toby God Kaiser!
Marie: Hehe. Toby's been obsessed with playing abomination ever since he saw you suit up, Nicholas.
Marie: But Toby, don't you get tired of playing the same thing over and over? This is at least the tenth time.
Daimon: Hmph. Rashomon was the same when he was a child—always getting hooked on a single game for weeks on end.
Marie: Oh, Dad did it too?
Daimon: Aye. I don't know how many times I had to pretend I was a dragon so he could defeat me.
Dr. Rashomon: You were no different, Marie. I wore an apron once when we played house, and you got such a kick out of it you made me wear it every time.
Marie: Huh? Really? It's been so long, I don't remember at all...
Tobias: Dah!
Nicholas: Hahaha. Looks like you've really taken a liking to that Kaiser model!
Nicholas: All right. If you like it that much, it's yours, Toby!
Marie: Wait, are you sure? I thought you were going to use it in your research.
Nicholas: I can just make a new one. And I'll make this one safer by sanding down the sharp parts and gluing everything in place before giving it to him.
Marie: Thanks.
Isn't that wonderful, Toby?
Tobias: Dah!
Tobias bounces around happily before taking off toddling down the hall.
Marie: I guess we'll be going now.
Nicholas: Okay! Hope Toby doesn't give you too much trouble!
As Marie leaves the room, Nicholas and company return to the workbench and resume their research discussion.
Robomi: ...
Kenji: ...
Kenji: (Family memories, huh...)
Robomi and Kenji stand at a distance, the earlier conversation still echoing in their minds.

Making Memories

One night, Nicholas reads a picture book to Tobias about a robot made of cans named Canka. Tobias is completely absorbed by the story, but his face falls when it ends with Canka sacrificing himself for the children who created him. Realizing his son is too distraught to sleep, Nicholas begins to tell him a sequel of his own creation.

Nicholas: Canka the Candroid
Nicholas: "Please throw this away," said Tom's mother to her son.
Nicholas: "Okay," answered Tom, "but you owe me a rupie." And so Tom picked up the empty oil can and left to throw it on the scrap iron pile.
Nicholas: The can was large, heavy, and shaped like a box. "Heave-ho," grunted Tom as he carried it along.
One night, Nicholas sits beside Tobias in his bed, reading him a picture book to lull him to sleep.
Bundled up in a thick, fluffy blanket, Tobias listens intently to his father's gentle voice as he tells the story.
Tom arrived at the scrap iron pile to see his friend Remy. Remy had come to throw away two empty paint cans.
When Tom saw the paint cans side by side, he had an idea. He set the oil can on top of them and said...
Tom: "This oil can body has two paint can legs! If we give it a head and arms, we can make a super strong robot!"
Tobias: Bwoh!
Tobias squeals happily, reaching toward the unfinished robot in the book.
Nicholas: I see. Cans are made from sheet metal, but the ridges make them pretty strong. And they're light too—perfect for a powerful robot!
Tom and Remy hurried to their secret base on the edge of town, carrying the empty cans.
The secret base had a broken mast for a roof and was filled with things they had collected, like bent screws and gears.
Tom and Remy used screws and wire to connect can arms and can legs to the oil can body. "Clatter, clatter," went the cans.
Remy: "These cans are all empty. He must be a very hungry robot."
Tom: "Then let's give him a great, big mouth so he can eat his fill!"
Remy nodded, and they set to work putting the robot together.
Tom: "There! It's done!"
Tom pulled the lever on the body, and the robot started to move.
Tom: "You're made from cans, so your name is Canka. Do you understand, Canka?"
Canka: "Canka! I'm Canka!"
Tobias: Grgh?
Nicholas: Haha. Neat, huh? It talked!
"Tom and Remy were very surprised to hear the robot answer them."
Nicholas reads the picture book to Tobias in a kindly voice, sprinkling in some personalized comments along the way.
Thanks to his engaging method of storytelling, Tobias seems to somewhat grasp the contents of the tale.
Nicholas: (Man, I haven't heard this story since I was a kid. I remember being excited when Canka started talking too.)
Nicholas: (But I don't think I read this book that many times. I wonder why?)
Canka: "Canka is hungry!"
Saying this, Canka started eating all sorts of things around the secret base, like screws and gears.
Canka: "Canka is strong! And eating lots will make Canka even stronger!"
Nicholas: (Oh yeah. He keeps eating everyone's things until no one likes him anymore...)
Just as Nicholas had remembered, Canka begins indiscriminately consuming toys and screws around the secret base.
Canka: "Give Canka screws and toys! Then Canka will be even stronger!"
After doing as he pleases with no regard for the children's feelings, Canka ends up friendless and hated by everyone.
Nicholas: "You're mean! I don't want to be your friend!" shouted Tom's friend Ivan, angrily throwing a rock at Canka.
Tobias: Mrgh...
Nicholas: What a shame... He was too selfish and ended up all alone. How can he make friends now?
Tobias: Goo!
Nicholas: Yeah, I can't wait to find out either. Let's see what happens next.
One day, the children went outside the city to explore. Canka followed after them.
When Ivan saw Canka, he became angry. "Go away!" he yelled. But Canka wouldn't leave.
Suddenly, a monster appeared. "Roar!" it thundered. The children were so scared they couldn't move.
Canka: "Look out!"
Canka ran over to face the monster.
Canka: "Canka is strong!"
Canka's hand grew pointy and turned into a huge drill, even bigger than a tree.
Thanks to all the toys and gears in his belly, Canka could use them to change his shape.
Tobias: A-bo!
Nicholas: "Hey, monster! Go away!" Canka shouted. The monster was scared of Canka. "Eep!" it yelped, and ran away.
Tobias: Goo-gah! Ba-ba!
Nicholas: Pretty cool how strong he is, huh? I used to love this scene when I was a kid too!
After Canka drives away the monster, he reconciles with the children, and they gradually become friends.
Eventually the ever-strong Canka becomes an indispensable member of the children's expeditions.
Remy: "Canka the Candroid! Strongest of the strong!"
Tom: "He's our friend! And a hero too!"
Canka and the children loved to sing as they explored every day. But one day...
A great storm struck the island while the children were out on an expedition. Worried, they tried to hurry home.
But when they reached the bridge to the city, they found it had sunk. Unable to cross, they fled to the secret base.
The secret base was in bad shape. The mast roof had blown away in the wind, and the sheet metal walls had broken.
Canka: "Come on, everyone! Under me!"
Canka stood on his hands and knees, growing bigger and bigger. Once he was big enough, he invited to children to take cover beneath him.
With his arms and legs stretched out, Canka was as big as a house and as sturdy as a fortress.
Canka: "Is everyone okay?"
Remy: "We're fine. Thanks, Canka."
Canka smiled. The rubble blowing in the wind hit his back, again and again.
Creak, squeak. Bang, clatter, wham. Canka's back hurt, and his arms and legs groaned in the rain. But still he smiled and asked...
Canka: "Is everyone okay?"
Tom: "Yeah. Because you're protecting us."
Seeing Canka's bright smile, the children weren't the least bit scared.
"Hang in there, Canka!"

"You're so strong, Canka!"

Thanks to the children cheering him on, Canka was able to stay standing.
Finally the stormy night passed, and the children peeked out from under Canka. They saw a clear, blue sky above them.
Ivan: "Look, Canka! There's a rainbow!"
But there was no answer. The children turned to look at Canka and shouted in surprise.
There in Canka's place was a giant rock on all fours. The light shining on its jagged surface made it look like it was smiling.
The children named the rock "Canka Rock" and decided to tell the story of their brave friend Canka to everyone they met.
Canka Rock became a beloved playground for children of all ages, and a source of cheerful laughter for years to come.
Nicholas: The end.
Tobias: Guh...
Nicholas: Yeah. Pretty sad story, huh?
Nicholas: (I remember now. The ending made me so upset, I never read it again.)
Tobias: Mrgh...
Nicholas: Well, I can't exactly tell you to go to sleep now, can I? There, there.
Seeing the Grand God Kaiser and Zogora toys next to the bed, Nicholas is suddenly struck with inspiration and claps his hands together.
Nicholas: Hey, Toby. There's actually a second part to this story. Wanna hear it?
Tobias: Bwuh?
Nicholas sets the picture book down on the blanket and sits up a little straighter, gearing up to continue the tale.
Nicholas: Canka bravely protected the children and transformed into a silent rock.
Nicholas: But the story doesn't end there! A year later, something happened that triggered a miracle!

Making Memories: Scene 2

The city in Nicholas's story is attacked by an enormous monster called Zomora, but Canka comes back to life thanks to a miracle caused by the children. Surrounded by Zomora's flames, their friendship sparks another miracle, transforming Canka into Grand God Kaiser to defeat the beast.

Tom: B-bad news, guys! There's a pack of monsters headed for the village!
Remy: Oh no! But why?
Ivan: Revenge. I bet they're mad about Canka beating them and are coming to attack us!
One day, the city is suddenly attacked by a horde of monsters.
Normally the knights of the city would protect them, but this time things are different.
Giant Monster: Groooooar!
Tom: It's huge!
Ivan: So that's the legendary monster boss, Zomora. We sure picked the wrong enemy to mess with.
Remy: I'm scared! Let's run for it!
Tom: No! Zomora's trying to break Canka Rock! I won't leave him behind!
Ivan: Let's fight! We're Canka's friends, right?
Remy: Yeah, you're right. We made these badges so we'd never forget him!
This calls for an explanation!
After Canka became a rock, the children made three badges out of gears and screws they picked up from underneath their robot friend.
These "Canka Badges" serve as an everlasting symbol of the friendship between the children and Canka!
Tom: Even if Canka's not around anymore, we can still defend ourselves! That's why I've practiced with my sword every day!
Tom: Now's the time to fight! This time we'll be the ones to protect Kanka!
Remy & Ivan: Yeah!
The children draw their weapons to fight against the approaching swarm of monsters.
Tom's sword, Remy's slingshot, and Ivan's spear make quick work of the monsters. However...
Zomora: Groooooar!
Tom: Cough, cough... It's no use. That thing's so big, our attacks can't reach it!
Ivan: At this point, it's all or nothing! We'll have to climb Canka Rock and take it on from there!
Using a secret path to get to Canka Rock, the children climb on top of their old friend and shout at Zomora.
Tom: Hey, jumbotron! If you wanna mess with Canka, you'll have to go through us first!
Remy: We won't run or hide! So bring it on!
Zomora: Groooar!
Ivan: Here it comes! Once it gets close enough, we'll use our special attack!
Zomora: Groooar!
Ivan: Now!
Children: Little Trio Attack!
The children unleash a powerful combo attack, strong enough to knock out a normal monster in one blow! But... it doesn't work on Zomora!
Zomora is already right next to them. With a glint in its eye, it takes aim and brings down its foul claws!
Ivan: Oww... You guys okay?
Remy: Yeah. But...
Zomora is already right next to them. With a glint in its eye, it takes aim and brings down its foul claws!
Tom: ...!
S-somebody help!
The children steel themselves for certain death. But then... it happens!
Tom: Gasp! Our Canka Badges are glowing!
The Canka Badges on the children's chests begin to shine, until the glow reaches all the way to Canka Rock.
Rock fragments fall from Canka's form like a layer of crumbling rust. Then a massive shadow rises from within the light...
Zomora: Grah?
Tom: Canka!
The children watch as Zomora is laid out by a single powerful blow. And there before their eyes is none other than Canka, his fist thrust high into the air!
Thanks to the strong bond between Canka and the children, a miracle occurred! Canka rises to stand with the children once again!
Tobias: Kah! Tee-hee-hee!
Nicholas: "Groooar!" roars Zomora. But Canka shows no fear!
Nicholas continues his off-the-cuff story, using the drawing of Canka on the cover of the book and the toy Zogora to act out the scenes.
Nicholas: "Your fight is with me!" shouts Canka, slamming his mighty fist into the beast's flabby belly!
Nicholas: Bam! Thud! Ker-pow! Zomora is unable to move in the face of Canka's fierce attacks!
Tobias: Pah!
Nicholas: "You can do it, Canka!"

"Get 'im, Canka!"

The children cheer Canka on as he fights!
Nicholas: But Zomora is a formidable foe. It plays dead, all the while waiting for a chance to attack.
Nicholas: "Groooooar!"
Tobias: Eep!
Nicholas: This roar is even more earsplitting than the last! Enough to shatter the windows of the city! Canka is so surprised, he falls on his backside!
Nicholas: "Mororororo!" Oh no! Zomora's preparing to attack! What in the skies is that beast going to do next!
Tobias: ...!
Zomora: Graaaaagh!
Canka: ...!
Tom: Urgh... Ow...
Tom: ...!
Canka! Are you okay?
Zomora's flames have made a complete mess of the city.
Canka is looking worse for wear after protecting the children from the blaze. He's even lost his arm, drill and all.
Canka: I'm sorry... everyone...
Tom: Canka!
Ivan: Grr... How dare you do that to Canka!
Remy: Stand up, you guys! We have to protect Canka!
Children: Hyaaah!
Zomora: Groooooar!
Children: Whoooa!
Tom: W-we're no match for that thing!
Zomora: Groooooar!
Canka: It's going to breathe fire again... At this rate, the children...
Canka: No... They're my precious friends, the ones who awakened me from my slumber!
Canka: I won't let anyone hurt them! I'll protect the ones who breathed life into these cans, no matter what!
Tom: Canka!
Canka: Please, give me the power! The power to save my friends!
Zomora: Grah!
At that moment, another miracle happens! Light overflows from Canka and the Canka Badges and merges together!
Out of the light appears a steel warrior, born from their prayers and friendship! Yes—Canka had transformed into Grand God Kaiser!
Tom: We're right here with you, Canka! Together, we'll defeat that thing!
Canka: I can hear your voices within me. Right now, we stand as one!
Tom: Here we go, Canka! You can do this!
Canka: Yeah!
Zomora: Groooooar!
Canka: Hyaaah!
Zomora's flames no longer have any effect! After all, the Kaiser is an invincible giant! That monster is going down!
Canka & Children: Kaiser Canka Smaaaaash!
Zomora: Groooooar!
And so, the city is protected from the villainous monster, thanks to the friendship between Canka and the children!

Making Memories: Scene 3

Marie, Kenji, and Robomi enter the room to reveal they had been listening the whole time. Since Kenji and Robomi have no memories of family, they are delighted to have become a part of Tobias's memories through Nicholas's story, which was based on their experiences together.

Nicholas: Thanks to Canka and the gang, the city is saved!
Marie: And they all lived happily ever after.
Nicholas: Whoa! H-how long have you guys been there?
Robomi: Since Zomora appeared in the city, Nicholas.
Nicholas: Ahaha... So you heard the whole thing...
Kenji: Heh. With you shouting so loudly, I'd be surprised if there was a soul on this ship who didn't hear you.
Marie: Why don't we all relocate to the living room? If we're not careful, we'll wake up Toby.
Nicholas: Eh?
Tobias: Zzz...
Nicholas: Huh? When did he fall asleep? I was so caught up in the story I didn't even notice. Haha...
Marie: Hehe. Nice work putting him to sleep. I'll turn off the lights.
Nicholas: Haha... You're all a bunch of jerks, you know that? You could have at least told me you were there.
Robomi: Well...
Robomi: We wanted to know how the story ended, Nicholas.
Kenji: It was pretty entertaining. Including watching you get into the story.
Nicholas: Urk!
Marie: Hehe. I never knew you were such a tease, Kenji.
Nicholas: Sheesh, you said it. Talk about embarrassing.
Kenji: I meant it when I said it was entertaining though. That story really hit home with us. Right?
Robomi: Huh?
Y-yes. We genuinely enjoyed it, Nicholas.
Nicholas: Ahaha... Thanks. Glad to hear it.
As they walk down the hall, the kiln bell rings, signaling the completion of the heat treatment.
Nicholas: Oh, sounds like Robomi's armor plating is ready. I need to cool it before going to bed.
Robomi: I will take care of it. You should retire for the night, Nicholas.
Robomi: Also, I would like to thank you.
Nicholas: Huh? For what?
Robomi: For the story you told.
Nicholas: The one from earlier? I was just rambling on about whatever came to mind... Aaand she's gone.
Kenji: Don't worry, I'll help with the armor plating. Good night.
Nicholas: Th-thanks. Night.
Marie: Good night. Tell Robomi good night from me too, okay?
Kenji: Will do. See you in the morning.
As they watch Robomi and Kenji head off toward the workshop, Marie gently leans her head against Nicholas's shoulder.
Marie: Toby sure is a lucky boy, being loved by so many people.
Nicholas: You got that right. Everyone's always looking out for him.
Marie: Yeah. Robomi and Kenji look at him like he's their own flesh and blood. Or... whatever they're made of.
Nicholas: Now that you mention it, they really do. Those two sure have changed.
Robomi: The armor plating has finished cooling. No defects detected.
Kenji: ...
Robomi: Did you find a crack in the plating?
Kenji: No, the plating's fine.
Kenji: I was just thinking... that story Nicholas told was probably based on our recent battle.
Robomi: Yes, most likely.
Kenji: The earliest autonomous combat units were lost along with their contents, only to be forgotten...
Kenji: But Nicholas's story might leave an impression on that child. And on me too. I'm grateful for that.
Robomi: Yes. That is precisely what I had in mind when I thanked Nicholas.
Kenji: There's no way of knowing what the future holds.
Robomi: Where is this coming from?
Kenji: I guess it must be strange hearing me say things like this. But rest assured there's nothing wrong with my mental circuits.
Kenji: When I was younger, I was jealous of the kids who talked about their family memories like it was the most normal thing in the world.
Robomi: ...
Kenji: That being said, I got to where I could pretend I didn't notice my own feelings.
Kenji: But in the end, I was just making myself numb to them, like with anesthesia. Even if I didn't feel any pain, I was still getting hurt.
Robomi: That... applies to me as well.
Kenji: I see.
Robomi: I can't give you any memories.
Kenji: But I was allowed to be a part of Tobias's.
Robomi: Yes.
Kenji: I feel like something's starting to fall into place, little by little. And it's about time.
Robomi: Does that mean... you were happy too?
Kenji: ...
Kenji: That's right. I was.
After cooling the armor plating, they proceed with the installation.
The conversation between mother and son turns to impersonal shop talk until the procedure is complete.
Kenji: The installation went off without a hitch. And the armor's not interfering with any parts. Let me know if something goes wrong again.
Robomi: Understood. Thank you for assisting with my maintenance.
Kenji: No need to thank me.
Kenji: Well, I have some things to do, but I'll be back in the morning.
Kenji begins initiating the sequence to transfer his consciousness to the digital world, but suddenly stops halfway.
Kenji: Oh, right.
Robomi: ...?
Kenji: There are limits to what I can do, but I'd like to keep helping Nicholas out.
Robomi: Yes... I feel the same way.
Kenji: I didn't work so hard to stick around just so I could help defend against abominations.
Kenji: So let's be here to make memories with Toby for a long time to come.
Kenji: Mom...
Robomi: ...!
Kenji vanishes, as though escaping before Robomi has a chance to respond.
Robomi: Thank you, Kenji...
Countless eras later, her wish to be called "Mom" has finally come true.
Robomi hugs her steel shoulders, relishing the sound that she had once abandoned all hope of ever hearing.
