A Bizarre Encounter

While out to capture a gang of bandits, Deku, Todoroki, Tsuyu, and Alexiel run into the primal beast Parashurama. Just as he is about to kill one of the bandits, Deku and the others work together to stop him. After apologizing profusely, Parashurama admits that he had been blinded by his zeal to rid the world of evil, then suggests that he join the party to help them in their quest.

Deku, Todoroki, and Tsuyu accept a request to arrest a group of rowdy bandits harassing a nearby town.
The three of them, accompanied by Alexiel, head to the mountains in search of the island's bandit hideout.
Izuku Midoriya: We're pretty far into the mountains now, but I still don't see any traces of the bandits.
Izuku Midoriya: According to the village chief, they should've set up a few bases around this area...
Shoto Todoroki: You'd think there'd be some sort of evidence of people passing through here, but no—not a single clue.
Tsuyu Asui: Ribbit... There were footsteps around the trail though. This should be the right direction.
Alexiel: Take care not to get lost. Visibility here is low—as is our familiarity with the local geography. One wrong step is all it takes to find ourselves at disaster's doorstep.
Alexiel: This is their home turf. It wouldn't be out of the question for the place to be filled to the brim with traps. Let's proceed with caution.
The trio nod their heads in agreement. After a moment to brace themselves, they advance into the thick of the woods.
Then—
???: I-it's a monster! Aaagh!
Izuku Midoriya: They're that way! Let's go!
Following the source of the sudden outcry, the group weave their way through the trees and find themselves in an open expanse.
Izuku Midoriya: Huh? What is this place?
There, holding a bandit up in the air by the collar, they spot a lone man with an intensely murderous air about him.
Bandit: Eek!
Man: ...
Man: Evil... This world must be cleansed of all evil... Every last bit of it!
Man: Perish!
Bandit: Grk... H-help...
Seeing the bandit dangle helplessly as he gasps for help, Deku leaps to action, dashing forward to put an end to the act of violence.
Izuku Midoriya: Get your hands off of him!
Man: Hrm?
Taken aback by Deku's sudden outburst, the man releases the bandit and stands guard.
Tsuyu Asui: You're safe now. Are you all right? Hurt anywhere?
Bandit: Sniffle... Waaah!
Tsuyu Asui: Hey! Where are you going?
Although he had been saved by Tsuyu, the bandit—still in a state of panic—dashes off like a rabbit out of its burrow.
Man: Protecting evil, then letting it run free... I see. You all must be accomplices.
Izuku Midoriya: No, we're not—
Man: That's enough!
Man: In the name of Mahadeva, I vow to defeat you here and rid the world of another evil!
Izuku Midoriya: Krk...
Shoto Todoroki: Midoriya! Dang it!
After blasting Deku away, the man turns his gaze toward Tsuyu. Before he can take down his next target, however, Todoroki quickly blocks his path with a wall of ice.
Shoto Todoroki: You're kidding me, right?
Izuku Midoriya: He destroyed Todoroki's ice wall with a single strike!
Man: All evil must be destroyed! It has no place in this world!
Emitting an aura of bloodlust, the man slowly walks toward the group, and Tsuyu, unsure of what to do, freezes in place.
Alexiel: Hraaagh!
Alexiel: Grgh! This man... He's a primal!
Man: Out of my way!
Alexiel: Grk...
Alexiel: Now's your chance, Tsuyu! Get yourself to safety at once!
Tsuyu Asui: Ribbit!
No sooner does Tsuyu leap away than a fierce battle breaks out between Alexiel and the man.
Alexiel: Hraaagh!
Man: Grrrgh!
Every clashing strike between the two combatants sends shock waves rippling through the air, causing the ground to shake and making the nearby trees quiver.
The fight completely demolishes the area, and what once was a bandit hideout now lay in disarray. The violent quakes and irregular tremors leave Deku and the others in awe.
Tsuyu Asui: The ground itself is shaking—not to mention those rumbling noises! At this rate, there won't be any mountain left to stand on!
Izuku Midoriya: The village at the base of the mountain—they're in danger! We gotta stop the fight before they hurt anybody!
Izuku Midoriya: (He's got his entire focus on Alexiel right now.)
Izuku Midoriya: (I should be able to find some kind of opening. If I can do that...)
Izuku Midoriya: Todoroki, Asu—I mean, Tsuyu! We gotta stop those two!
Todoroki and Tsuyu nod Deku's way, then the three close in on Alexiel and the man while trying to avoid their attacks.
Izuku Midoriya: (If he catches on to what we're doing, I won't get a second chance. I've got one shot at success!)
Deku maintains his distance, looking for the right moment to strike. For a split second, he seems to feel Alexiel glance his way.
Izuku Midoriya: Now!
Without giving it a second thought, Deku kicks the ground, leaping high into the air.
Man: ...!
Alexiel: What are you looking at? Your opponent is standing before you—right here!
Man: Hrk...
Izuku Midoriya: Grgh...
Alexiel continues her assault, and with the man now distracted, Deku uses Blackwhip to constrain him.
Izuku Midoriya: Todoroki! Tsuyu!
Shoto Todoroki: I'm on it!
Following Deku's cue, Todoroki releases a blast of frozen air at full power.
Shoto Todoroki: Raaagh!
Man: Huh?
Alexiel: Wha—
The entire area, including the man and trees that surround him, is enveloped in a mountain of unbreakable ice.
Tsuyu Asui: This way, Alexiel!
Alexiel: Got it!
Tsuyu leads Alexiel down the escape route Todoroki had prepared, and the two just barely avoid the frosty attack.
Izuku Midoriya: We did it!
Shoto Todoroki: Maybe now you can cool down.
Man: ...!
Shoto Todoroki: Well you're quite the lively one. That's fine. I'll let you go once you chill.
Tsuyu Asui: Ribbit, ribbit. I'm glad everything turned out okay.
Izuku Midoriya: Thanks for giving me that opening, Alexiel.
Alexiel: One look into your eyes is all it took for me to understand that you had something planned. It's me who should be thanking you.
With the biggest danger out of the way, the group collectively lets out a sigh of relief, but then—
Izuku Midoriya: Huh?
Shoto Todoroki: Whoa.
Sounds of cracking ice fill the air as the frozen prison containing the man begins to crumble.
Man: What?
Man: Where am I? And why am I entombed in ice?
Tsuyu Asui: Are you sure that ice is thick enough, Todoroki?
Shoto Todoroki: I can refreeze him if you want.
Izuku Midoriya: W-wait a sec! I think we're fine. Look, he seems different now.
Man: Hrm? Who might you be?
Alexiel: I would like to ask you the very same. You, too, are a primal, are you not? What brings you here?
Man: What brings me here, you ask? That's a good question... I'm sorry, but my recent memory seems to evade me...
Man: You all seem knowledgeable about the current situation. Would you be so kind as to share with me what's going on?
As they talk, the man slowly frees himself by picking off large chunks of ice one bit at a time.
Witnessing the man escape with such ease, Deku can't help but look surprised, but even so, he explains to the man everything that had taken place moments earlier.
Man: My deepest apologies!
Izuku Midoriya: O-oh...
Man: To think I'd turn my blade against those who fought alongside Mahadeva and (Captain)!
Man: My foolish heart has led me astray. I am to blame for this all! I have gravely sinned!
Man: O great Mahadeva, my teacher! Lay upon me punishment for sullying your name so!
The man shouts at the heavens with all his soul, but with no response to his cries, the five of them are left in an awkward silence.
Man: Grk... I can hear my teacher's voice! "Failure is but another opportunity to reflect and grow one's devotion." Those are his words!
Man: How gracious you are to forgive me despite committing so grave a sin!
Izuku Midoriya: (This guy's really got... character. Or maybe he's just a weirdo.)
Alexiel: In any case, who are you, and what are you doing here? I believe it's about time you explained yourself.
Having finally lost her patience, Alexiel demands an explanation, and the man quickly corrects his posture before letting out a deep sigh.
Parashurama: My apologies. I may have gone a bit too far there. My name is Parashurama.
Parashurama: You are the divine protector Alexiel, correct? I've heard of you from my teacher, Mahadeva.
Alexiel: Your teacher? Earlier, you said that I fought alongside your teacher. Are you Shiva's disciple?
Izuku Midoriya: Huh? Do you know this man, Alexiel?
Alexiel: I've never met him in person, but I know of his existence, yes.
Alexiel: I heard passing rumors that Shiva had taken up a problematic young primal as his disciple. This must be him.
Parashurama: Grgh... I'm ashamed to admit that at times, I succumb to my emotions. It is as though I am overcome by an unstoppable desire to fulfill my duty as a primal.
Izuku Midoriya: Your duty as a primal? An unstoppable desire?
Alexiel: That's correct. We primals were originally created by the Astrals to be used as weapons in their invasion of the Sky Realm.
Alexiel: As such, our duties, goals, the elements we control, and even the very purpose of our being—they were all determined at the moment of our creation.
Tsuyu Asui: So you're both... weapons? But neither of you look very different from the rest of us.
Alexiel: Not all primals were born into this world solely to be weapons.
Alexiel: Some, like myself, possess self-consciousness and are capable of thinking independently.
Alexiel: Regardless, that explains the situation. All you were trying to do is fulfill your duty as a primal.
Parashurama: Be that as it may, if what you said is to be believed, I attempted to eliminate not only the bandit but also your group, an unrelated party.
Parashurama: That does not align with my duty to rid the world of evil. It's possible that I simply lost control of my powers as a primal.
Parashurama: Furthermore, I was not created a primal. I'm nothing more than an ordinary person who happened to have obtained the power of a primal.
Parashurama: I have no intention of using this as an excuse, but it's a matter of fact that my body is not meant to accommodate such immense strength.
Parashurama: Once again, please accept my sincerest apologies. Also—
Parashurama: I would like to express my gratitude to you for stopping my rampage without the loss of lives.
Parashurama: From the bottom of my heart, I thank you!
Izuku Midoriya: W-well, I guess nobody was hurt. Although the bandit did get away...
Izuku Midoriya: I'm just glad we were able to stop you before the mountain started falling apart.
As Deku speaks, he tightly clutches his chest—as if to stop himself from revealing his own secrets.
Izuku Midoriya: (A normal person... became a primal?)
Izuku Midoriya: (I guess it's kinda like how I was Quirkless before receiving One For All from All Might.)
Parashurama: I must take responsibility for all the trouble my inexperience has caused you. Please, allow me to assist you in your mission.
Parashurama: I possess the ability to perceive evil. With me by your side, you should be able to find the bandits' hideout with ease.
Alexiel: Hm... That would be helpful indeed.
Alexiel: Our battle earlier has significantly altered the surroundings. The information we received at the village won't be of much use now.
Izuku Midoriya: That's true... We shouldn't just proceed blindly. It'd definitely be better if we had someone to guide us.
Shoto Todoroki: Then it's decided. We don't know how many bandits there are or to what extent they occupy this area. And it wouldn't hurt to have an extra pair of hands to help fight.
Izuku Midoriya: Yeah. Sounds good.
Izuku Midoriya: Okay then, Parashurama. Let's capture these bandits and help put the villagers' minds at ease!
Parashurama: Very well! I promise to make up for all the trouble I've caused you!
Deku and the others agree to work together with Parashurama, the young primal they encountered on their mountain search.
Though their circumstances may differ, their goal is one and the same—and as such, the two parties decide to join hands in order to achieve their objective.

A Bizarre Encounter: Scene 2

The sun sets as the group tails the bandits, and they eventually decide to call it for the day and set up camp. Unable to fall asleep, Deku then spends some time talking to Parashurama and, upon hearing the mighty primal's origins as a mere mortal, feels sympathetic toward his newfound companion's plight, encouraging him to have more pride in his own abilities and purpose.

With a new ally by their side, Deku and the others pursue the runaway bandit. It appears he's fled deeper into the mountains than they had initially suspected.
With the sun about to set, they decide to continue the search tomorrow and set up camp in preparation for the night ahead.
Izuku Midoriya: We're back, Todoroki. Sorry for making you set everything up on your own.
Shoto Todoroki: Don't worry about it. Did you find anything edible?
Tsuyu Asui: Yeah, I found a few mushrooms, and Midoriya gathered some acorns and fruit.
Their arms full of food, Deku and Tsuyu place the results of their scavenging atop a large leaf.
Izuku Midoriya: I thought the food here would be more exotic since we're in a whole other world, but it's surprisingly similar to what we have back home.
Shoto Todoroki: Oh right, I found this while I was out collecting firewood. I wonder if we can eat it.
Todoroki then pulls out a strange fruit about the size of his fist.
Its exterior, fully covered in spikes, is blindingly vibrant.
Shoto Todoroki: I remember seeing something like this at the grocery store, so I picked it up, but I dunno. Do you think it's safe to eat?
Izuku Midoriya: Hrm... Good question. It kinda looks like a dragon fruit.
Alexiel: Ah, you've all returned. Have you procured any provisions?
Izuku Midoriya: Oh, Alexiel! Parashurama!
Izuku Midoriya: Welcome... back?
Izuku Midoriya: Um, Parashurama... Don't tell me you brought back a monster...
Parashurama: Hm? Oh, this? I was unable to find any wild game, but we were fortunate enough to stumble upon this fellow here.
Parashurama: Worry not. As long as we take the necessary precautions, it shouldn't differ from normal meat.
Tsuyu Asui: Ribbit... Alexiel, do you normally eat monsters in your world?
Alexiel: Well, it certainly is not an ingredient you would find in your typical meal. I hear some use it for the novelty, however.
Parashurama: Back when I was a mortal, I relied on such meat for sustenance on multiple occasions. It's perfectly safe to eat and quite delectable, I assure you.
Although Parashurama is brimming with confidence, the three otherworldly visitors can't help but feel doubtful as they prepare their dinner with all the gathered ingredients.
Izuku Midoriya: Wait, this actually tastes good.
Shoto Todoroki: To be honest, when he mentioned monster meat, I imagined something very different. This meat is fine though—just a bit tougher than usual.
Parashurama: I would dare not tell a lie. But yes, please take care to chew well before swallowing. You wouldn't want to choke while we're out in the wilderness.
Night falls, and the party huddles around the campfire, eating a surprisingly extravagant dinner.
For the dessert, they share the fruit Todoroki had found. As they enjoy the sweet delicacy, Parashurama, suddenly remembering something, speaks up.
Parashurama: Come to think of it, you possess the ability to control both fire and ice. Is that correct, Shoto?
Shoto Todoroki: Yeah. What of it?
Parashurama: Oh, it isn't of any importance. You simply reminded me of my teacher.
Parashurama: He controls fire and lightning, while you, Shoto, can use fire and ice. The two of you are similar in that you both are capable of manipulating different elements.
Shoto Todoroki: Interesting... So what's your teacher like, Parashurama?
Parashurama: He is the greatest ally for whom one could ever wish! He has saved countless lives and passes judgment upon the evil that plagues this world.
Parashurama: It is by his grace that he chose to stand by mankind and diligently better his knowledge of their culture...
Hearing Parashurama speak of his teacher with such a fiery passion, the trio is briefly taken aback.
Tsuyu Asui: The way he goes on about his teacher reminds me of Midoriya talking about All Might. The two would make a good match.
Parashurama: Oh? Do you have a teacher of your own, Deku?
Izuku Midoriya: Well, yeah. He isn't just my teacher though. He teaches all of us...
Izuku Midoriya: He's never afraid, no matter who he's up against, and he always saves others with a smile on his face...
Izuku Midoriya: People call him the Symbol of Peace. He's the world's greatest hero.
Alexiel: The Symbol of Peace, you say? He must be quite the impressive individual.
Izuku Midoriya: You bet he is! One punch from All Might is enough to change even the weather...
Izuku Midoriya: His most iconic moment has got to be when he made his hero debut. There was a huge accident, and he went on a rescue mission to save all the victims!
Izuku Midoriya: He rescued more than one thousand people all by himself! I used to watch and rewatch those clips back when I was a kid! People still talk about it to this very day!
The others watch as Deku raves about his teacher, periodically waving his arms as if to portray one of All Might's heroic scenes. Once he gets going, there's no stopping him.
Izuku Midoriya: Wait... I was ranting, wasn't I? Sorry for going off like that. You probably think I'm some sort of weirdo now...
Parashurama: Hm? Why would I think that? You only speak of your teacher so highly because you respect him, am I mistaken?
Alexiel: I agree. I, too, can speak for all eternity in regard to Master Uriel. Of that I am certain.
Izuku Midoriya: You have a teacher too, Alexiel?
Alexiel: I do. My master is unlike any other. His musculature is truly a marvel to behold!
Alexiel: His burly stature provides an unmistakable feeling of presence and fills you with a sense of safety—he is the embodiment of the very earth on which we stand.
Izuku Midoriya: I think I get what you mean. All Might is the same. I guess you look that much more dependable when you've got a big body.
Parashurama: That may be so, but one's physical size is not the be-all and end-all. The air one gives off is of equal, if not greater, importance.
Izuku Midoriya: That's true! Like, their aura, right? There's something different about seeing All Might in person... He's nothing like in the videos!
Izuku Midoriya: You need both if you wanna intimidate any first-time enemies—not to mention you'll be way more convincing!
Deku, Alexiel, and Parashurama, having found a common ground, talk up a storm as they share many personal anecdotes about their respective teachers.
Todoroki and Tsuyu chime in as Deku converses deep into the night, excitedly telling more stories about his world and the famous heroes that inhabit it.
Izuku Midoriya: (I can't fall asleep...)
It's the middle of the night, and Deku lies on the ground, unable to catch a wink of sleep. He decides to wake up instead of wasting any more time tossing and turning.
Izuku Midoriya: (I'm exhausted, so why is it that I can't sleep? Am I nervous about something?)
Izuku Midoriya: I guess I'll go for a walk. Maybe that'll help.
He mutters to himself, then gets up quietly in order to avoid waking Todoroki or Tsuyu.
Parashurama: ...
Parashurama: Identify yourself!
Izuku Midoriya: Ah! S-sorry, it's just me.
Parashurama: Oh, it's you, Deku. Unable to sleep, I presume?
Izuku Midoriya: Yeah, I feel really awake for some reason.
Izuku Midoriya: Wait, where's Alexiel?
Parashurama: If it's the divine protector you seek, she should be on the lookout for monsters. Many of them are active at night, so we must exercise the utmost caution.
Izuku Midoriya: Oh, I see. Is it really okay for you two to be doing all the work? You should get some rest too...
Parashurama: That would be unnecessary. We primals do not require food or sleep to be functional.
Izuku Midoriya: Neat...
Parashurama: You're having trouble sleeping, correct? Wandering about in the middle of the night is dangerous. I suggest you stay here for the time being instead.
Izuku Midoriya: Oh, okay. Thanks. I'll do that.
Deku nods his head and takes a few steps away from Parashurama. He then sits down, after which silence descends upon the two.
Izuku Midoriya: (Th-this is awkward... Should I say something to him?)
Feeling an ever so slight tension in the air, Deku glances sideways at Parashurama and notices that he's frowning—as if deep in thought.
Izuku Midoriya: Um... Is something bothering you?
Parashurama: Hm? Ah, well... I was merely thinking about last afternoon.
Parashurama: This time, you all were able to put a stop to my rampage, but I may not be so fortunate in the future.
Parashurama: I must learn to better control my powers such that this does not occur again. It appears I still have maturing yet to do...
Parashurama pauses and looks up at the night sky before letting out a deep sigh.
Parashurama: That is much easier said than done, however. One way or another, I always end up the one on the receiving end of help.
Parashurama: Indeed, it is only thanks to Mahadeva and my friend, (Captain), that I haven't succumbed to insanity.
Parashurama: Even now, you all continue to assist me. I truly am a disappointment, through and through.
Parashurama: I mustn't let Mahadeva down. I need to be able to stand face to face with (Captain).
Parashurama: Now is neither the time nor place for me to falter! And yet—
Izuku Midoriya: Parashurama...
Seeing Parashurama lament, Deku grasps his chest before quietly opening his mouth to say something.
Izuku Midoriya: I get what you're going through. I really do. I used the feel the exact same way.
Parashurama: You as well?
Izuku Midoriya: Yeah. Y'know... Unlike Todoroki and Asui, I wasn't born with a Quirk.
Parashurama: Quirk? What might that be?
Izuku Midoriya: A Quirk is... Hm... How do I put this? I guess it's kind of like the primal power both you and Alexiel have.
Izuku Midoriya: To everyone else around me, having a Quirk was natural. It's something you were born with. Not to me though—I was Quirkless.
Izuku Midoriya: But one day, I gained a Quirk of my own.
Izuku Midoriya: "If I want to be a real hero, I have to hurry up and learn how to control my powers." That's what I kept thinking to myself.
Izuku Midoriya: I was in such a hurry that I made a bunch of reckless mistakes. I caused so much worry to so many people, and if it weren't for their help, I wouldn't be where I am today.
Parashurama: ...
Izuku Midoriya: So yeah... I feel like I know what you're going through. But maybe that's just my own anxiety showing...
Deku nervously looks Parashurama's way and smiles wryly before continuing.
Izuku Midoriya: Your primal powers might be different from our Quirks though.
Izuku Midoriya: But even if they are, it's also true that we both had our powers passed down to us. Maybe I can help you somehow.
Having wrapped up his speech, Deku pulls out a notebook from his pocket.
Parashurama: Oh? What's that?
Izuku Midoriya: Remember how I told you I was originally Quirkless?
Izuku Midoriya: Well, I still really wanted to become a hero, so I used this notebook to write down all the different Quirks I came across.
Izuku Midoriya: I thought that even if I were Quirkless, I might be of some help to the world if I studied hard enough.
Deku flips through the notebook and stops at a certain page, showing it Parashurama.
Parashurama: These pictures... Are they supposed to be of me and the divine protector? What incredible detail...
Izuku Midoriya: Hehe... I figured it might come in handy, so I took some notes before going to bed.
Izuku Midoriya: Anyway, that got me thinking...
Izuku Midoriya: When you say it's your duty to rid the world of evil, that doesn't mean killing every evil being, right?
Izuku Midoriya: You didn't mention taking the lives of the bad guys, so I'm assuming you don't mean to kill anybody. At least, that's what I got from what Alexiel was saying.
Parashurama: That is correct. My duty is to rid the world of evil. Nothing more, nothing less.
Parashurama: The reason I was granted the powers of a primal in the first place is to atone for my sins—that is, my failure to protect the lives entrusted to me.
Parashurama: I became a primal in hopes that this time I may succeed.
Parashurama: In order to achieve my goal, I must destroy the concept of evil itself. I am very much aware that it is not my place to take the life of another—no matter how ill-intentioned.
Izuku Midoriya: The concept of evil, huh? There isn't a defined basis as to whether or not you've destroyed evil. That makes things difficult...
Izuku Midoriya: If the ultimate goal is maintain control of the mind in order to avoid going on another rampage, then there needs to be some sort of fallback just it case it happens again...
Seeing Deku continuously mutter to himself, Parashurama is at a loss as to what to do.
Deku notices Parashurama gazing his way and quickly returns to his usual, nervous self.
Izuku Midoriya: M-my bad! I kinda got lost in my own thoughts back there...
Parashurama: No need to apologize. It is for my sake that you were so seriously pondering.
Parashurama: This is my problem to solve, but I do appreciate the help. How about we discuss the matter and come up with a potential solution together?
Izuku Midoriya: Of course!
Izuku Midoriya: Okay, first thing's first! I'd like to hear your thoughts on something. I came up with this one idea earlier...
The two share their ideas and opinions with one another and begin to come up with a plan to better manage Parashurama's emotional outbursts.
By the time they're finished talking, Deku's notes regarding Parashurama have filled every last corner of the page.

A Bizarre Encounter: Scene 3

The following day, Deku and the others finally track down the bandits' hideout. They then learn that the villagers who had asked for the party's help had been captured to be used as hostages. Deku and the others try to prioritize the captives' safety but are slowly cornered by their adversaries as a result.

The next morning, Deku and his party head deeper into the mountains as they search for traces of the bandits' hideout.
Izuku Midoriya: Hey, Parashurama... There's something I wanted to ask you about yesterday...
Parashurama: Oh? Perfect timing! I was about to ask you for your opinion as well.
Shoto Todoroki: Huh? Since when did those two get all buddy-buddy?
Tsuyu Asui: Maybe they found something only the two of them get. Must be nice.
The sound of Deku and Parashurama's fierce debate fills the air as the gang walks along the mountain trail.
Alexiel, Tsuyu, and Todoroki tilt their heads, wondering how the other two became the best of friends seemingly overnight.
Parashurama uses his powers to trace the evil presence throughout the mountains, and the group ends up trekking for a while.
Deku and the others follow the trail of footsteps, and at its end, they find a well-hidden cave tucked away out of sight.
Alexiel: To think the bandits would conceal the entrance to their hideout behind these bushes... How elaborate.
Parashurama: It's impossible to determine exactly how many are inside, but I believe it's safe to assume there are at least twenty people. Keep your guard up, everyone.
Deku and his party proceed with caution, but with the cave proving to be deeper than they had initially anticipated, they fail to find any traces of the bandits.
However, the lights and countless crates located around them indicate that someone has most certainly been residing here.
Shoto Todoroki: ...?
Izuku Midoriya: What's the matter, Todoroki? Why'd you suddenly stop?
Shoto Todoroki: Oh, well... It's that thing over there. I was just wondering what it was...
Todoroki walks over to a mess of unused furniture and empty crates scattered just outside the main area.
After checking the various pieces of furniture, he then approaches one of the crates and, without even a moment's hesitation, opens it.
Shoto Todoroki: This is...
Alexiel: Did you find something?
Shoto Todoroki: Take a look at this. It isn't your typical bandit loot.
Peering into the box, they notice a clutter of clothes, children's toys, and other daily necessities sitting atop a mound of gold.
Every item in the box is covered in dirt and looks as though it was forcefully pried out of the hands of its original owner.
Izuku Midoriya: Huh? What are these?
Parashurama: They appear to be the bandits' spoils.
Tsuyu Asui: Spoils?
Parashurama: According to my sources, when the bandits raid a village, they steal every last piece of property before razing the place.
Parashurama: In addition to any money or gold they can get their hands on, they steal food, livestock, and other daily necessities—as well as the lives of the villagers themselves.
Izuku Midoriya: They even take the people's lives?
Parashurama: The moment these bandits set their eyes on you, they will not stop until they have all your gold and provisions.
Parashurama: And if you no longer have food or money, they plunder everything else of value—down to the very last item.
Alexiel: Is it possible that the bandits have their eyes on the village that sent us this request?
Izuku Midoriya: If what Parashurama says is true, that seems likely.
Izuku Midoriya: If we let even one bandit get away, the whole gang will be back for revenge. We have to catch every last one of them now.
Having learned that the bandits they're pursuing cause such pain and strife, Deku and the others are more determined than ever to fulfill their goal.
Suddenly—
???: Th-this is my own doing! Please, spare their lives! That's all I ask for!
Alexiel: That voice... It's coming from that way! Hurry!
Hearing a scream coming from the end of the tunnel, the group hastily makes a dash for the voice's source.
Bandit Leader: Oh? You sent a request to those damn skyfarers knowing full well that this would happen, did you not?
Village Chief: Urk...
Bandit Leader: I believe I've made myself plenty clear. If even one of you breaches the contract, the whole village must pay!
Village Chief: Eep!
Just as the bandit leader raises his club to strike the village chief—
???: Raaagh!
Bandit Leader: Ack!
Village Chief: Huh?
A black shadow flies through the air and kicks away the bandit leader, while another swoops in to rescue the village chief.
Tsuyu Asui: We're here to save you.
Village Chief: Y-you must be the skyfarers...
Bandit: Damn it! The skyfarers are here! Get 'em!
Shoto Todoroki: Hrgh!
Bandit: I'm f-freezin'! The hell are you doin'?
Shoto Todoroki: I wouldn't move if I were you. Although if you don't mind skinning yourself alive, then by all means, be my guest.
Hot-Blooded Bandit: The hell do you think you are? No backin' down, everyone! After 'em!
Alexiel: You're too late!
Hot-Blooded Bandit: Grrrgh!
Frightened Bandit: E-eek! Just who are these guys? Why're they so strong?
Hearing their comrades screaming in agony, a few of the bandits turn tail in an attempt to flee, but—
Parashurama: Hrmph!
Frightened Bandit: Eep!
Parashurama: You will repent for all the atrocities you have so wrongly committed—now!
Frightened Bandit: Eeeek!
The mob of bandits falls into a state of panic, and Deku's party quickly renders them powerless.
With most of the underlings having surrendered, victory seems all but assured. However—
Bandit Leader: I'm afraid I can't allow this to continue for any longer! Everybody! Your attention, please!
Izuku Midoriya: ...!
A voice suddenly rings throughout the caverns, and Deku turns his gaze to its source—he spots the bandit leader with a wry smile plastered across his face.
Parashurama: That must be their leader!
Izuku Midoriya: Parashurama, wait!
Bandit Leader: How very rude of you all to come barging in doing as you please! I wouldn't be much of a leader if I simply let this slide, now would I?
The bandit leader snaps her fingers and barks a few orders. The sound of unraveling chains fills the room as a giant cage descends from the cavern's ceiling.
Izuku Midoriya: ...!
Trapped within the cage are a few prisoners, and accompanying them are some monsters lying still, seemingly fast asleep.
Bandit Leader: Oho! Do these faces ring a bell? That's right. They're the pesky little villagers who so unfortunately decided to ask you all for help.
Bandit Leader: Once I flip this switch, my little darlings will wake up. And I'll have you know—they're very hungry. I made sure to starve them.
Bandit Leader: Hm... What will happen to the poor folk inside? I wonder...
Alexiel: Urk... She has hostages...
Tsuyu Asui: She sure is playing dirty... We have to be careful about how we act now.
Izuku Midoriya: (There's no way for us to isolate the hostages... Even if we try to save the them, we might wake up the monsters in the process.)
Izuku Midoriya: (We could prioritize capturing the bandit leader, but she'd just flip that switch of hers. And if she does that, the villagers are done for.)
Izuku Midoriya: ...!
As Deku tries to come up with some sort of plan to save the hostages, he suddenly feels a chilling aura engulf him.
Parashurama: How dare you! You are evil incarnate! Toying with the lives of others? You disgust me!
Parashurama: I will not let this slide. You have committed far too grave an offense. I must rid the world of the evil that is you!
Tsuyu Asui: Parashurama!
Parashurama, seeing red, attempts to dash toward the bandit leader in a fit of rage.
Izuku Midoriya: Stop!
Parashurama: Grk!
Deku shouts at Parashurama, completely immobilizing him using Blackwhip.
Izuku Midoriya: If you jump at her now, we'll lose all the hostages!
Parashurama: But... But I must...
Izuku Midoriya: Don't you remember what you said?
Izuku Midoriya: You became a primal to protect the lives of others, right?
Izuku Midoriya: If you go on a rampage now, the lives you wish to protect will be lost! That's the exact opposite of what you want to do!
Parashurama: ...!
As Deku tries to reason with Parashurama, he suddenly lets out a gasp and relaxes his body.
Noticing that Parashurama has calmed down, Deku releases the primal, allowing him a moment to quietly get back on his feet.
Izuku Midoriya: I understand your frustration—what she's doing is unforgivable. But that's exactly why you can't let her get her way.
Parashurama: You're right. My apologies. It appears I've once again let my emotions get the better of me.
Bandit Leader: Are you two done with your little chit-chat? It's about time. I'm getting hot in here.
With that, the bandit leader snaps her fingers yet again, and a giant metal door located at the back of the area creaks open.
Giant Monster: Groooar!
From the door emerges an enormous monster.
The monster glares directly at Deku's group as they stare back at it, their mouths agape.
Bandit Leader: Well, well... It's time to eat, my darling!
Giant Monster: Groooar!
Alexiel: It's coming this way! Everybody, stand your ground!
Right as Alexiel shouts her orders, the monster attacks the party, closing in on them in an instant.
Villager: Ahhh!
The cage, still suspended mid-air, shakes from the impact of the monster's attacks, causing the villagers to cry out in fear.
Parashurama: This isn't looking good... If we aren't careful, the monster's attacks might wake the ones in the cage.
Izuku Midoriya: We have to take care of the monster in front of us as quickly as possible and then save the hostages!
Giant Monster: Roooar!
Izuku Midoriya: Grgh!
Izuku Midoriya: Raaagh!
Giant Monster: Grrr!
Izuku Midoriya: (That did nothing! It must be because my positioning is off... I can't keep my footing either!)
Giant Monster: Groooar!
Izuku Midoriya: Oh no!
Giant Monster: Graaagh!
Villager: Eek!
Shoto Todoroki: Dang it. Nothing's working!
Bandit Leader: I'd be careful if I were you! The more you resist, the more likely it is your friends get hurt!
Bandit Leader: At this rate, they'll all be gobbled up before I even get the chance to flip my switch!
Tsuyu Asui: She's right. We can't be reckless. Riling the monster too much will only make things more dangerous for the villagers.
Parashurama: Even if we were to stand by doing nothing, I highly doubt our opponent would be so gracious as to do the same!
Deku and the others do their best to avoid the hungry monster's assault while simultaneously trying to prevent the cage from shaking.
The aimless back-and-forth between the two sides begins to take its toll, however, both physically and mentally. Exhausted, Deku shows signs of panic.

A Bizarre Encounter: Scene 4

Deku contrives a plan that best utilizes each of his companion's abilities, and they work as a team to defeat the bandits and save the villagers. After the ordeal, Parashurama bids his farewell, stating that he must return to his training. As the remaining party members make their way back to the Grandcypher, Deku wonders how he should tell the tale of this bizarre encounter to (Captain) and the others.

Izuku Midoriya: (Think! There has to be something I can do in this situation!)
Izuku Midoriya: (Alexiel and Parashurama both have attacks with a large area of effect.)
Izuku Midoriya: (Todoroki could freeze the monster in its tracks, but it's probably too big for that to work. He'd basically have to freeze the entire room.)
Izuku Midoriya: (We have to secure the hostages' safety before rescuing them, while also capturing the bandit leader and pinning down her monster—all at the same time...)
Desperately racking his brain in an attempt to come up with some sort of plan, Deku is hit by a moment of inspiration.
Izuku Midoriya: This might not work, but we gotta at least try! It's all or nothing!
Still dodging the monster's attacks, Deku slowly makes his way to the rest of the group in order to share his plan with them.
Alexiel: I see. It's worth a shot.
Shoto Todoroki: It's better than just indecisively waiting around like this. Let's do it, Midoriya.
Tsuyu Asui: Ribbit... That's a lot of responsibility you're putting on my shoulders. But okay, I'll do what I need to do.
Izuku Midoriya: The plan will fall apart if she catches on to us. Take care not to be noticed, everybody.
Parashurama: In that case, we'll go in first and draw away her attention. The rest is in your hands—Deku, Shoto, Tsuyu!
Alexiel and Parashurama make their move, jumping right in front of the colossal monster's breathing face.
Parashurama: Grrrgh!
Alexiel: Hraaagh!
Giant Monster: Graaagh!
Bandit Leader: You fools! You're going wake my darlings in the cage if you pull a stunt like that!
Shoto Todoroki: Then I'll just freeze your monster so it can't move! There. Problem solved.
Still staggering from Alexiel and Parashurama's combined strike, the giant monster is then trapped in its own icy cage.
A long frozen wall rises from the ground before the bandit leader, blocking both the monster and suspended cage from her view.
Bandit Leader: You think you can save the hostages just because I can't see them? Very well then!
Bandit Leader: Like hell I'd let you do that! It's time to wake up, little fellas!
Shouting, the bandit leader tries to flip the switch in her hand, but—
Bandit Leader: Hm? It's gone... My switch! It's gone!
Tsuyu Asui: Ribbit, ribbit. Are you looking for this?
Bandit Leader: You! When did you get behind me?
Tsuyu appears above the bandit leader, sticking to the wall behind her, and held by her tongue is the missing switch. Seeing this, the bandit leader flies into a fit of rage.
Bandit Leader: Well too bad! Who said I only had one?
Izuku Midoriya: I thought you'd have something else up your sleeve... But you're too late!
Bandit Leader: Huh?
Izuku Midoriya: Shoot Style...
Izuku Midoriya: St. Louis... Smash!
Deku comes hurtling down from the very top of Todoroki's ice wall, leaving the bandit leader with not a moment to dodge his direct attack.
Bandit Leader: Ah...
Tsuyu Asui: Phew... I'm glad everything went according to plan.
Izuku Midoriya: I wonder if the other two were able to take care of the giant monster. I sure hope they're okay...
Just as Deku speaks, he hears the sound of metal on ice, and the wall comes crashing down.
Parashurama: Excellent! I see things have gone well on your end too!
Tsuyu Asui: Too? Then I guess you guys didn't have any problems either!
Parashurama: None to speak of. The hostages are safe. Shoto froze the monsters, cage and all.
Parashurama: And as for the big one...
The group turn their heads, and they spot the giant monster encapsulated in a block of ice.
Not far away are the now free villagers, checking on each other to see if anybody had been hurt.
Izuku Midoriya: Thank goodness...
Parashurama: That was quite the plan of yours. Having Shoto freeze the entire area while we distracted the monster...
Parashurama: And then giving Tsuyu just enough time to steal the switch from behind the bandit leader's back by blocking her view and securing the cage...
Tsuyu Asui: Midoriya could then break open the cage and rescue the hostages while holding down the monsters with Blackwhip, after which he leaped over the ice wall and onto the leader.
Tsuyu Asui: It sounds crazier saying it out loud.
Izuku Midoriya: If she were more cool-headed, things would've ended very differently.
Izuku Midoriya: But she thought she had us checkmated and let down her guard as a result.
Izuku Midoriya: More importantly, it's thanks to you guys that we could pull off a plan like this.
They all break out into laughter, happy to have the ordeal behind them.
The group rounds up the gang of bandits before turning them in to the local defense force for further investigation.
Alexiel: Will you really be leaving? Wouldn't it best if you at least showed your face to (Captain) and the crew?
Parashurama: I would very much love the opportunity to exchange a few words with (Captain)...
Parashurama: But if I do so now, I feel as though I'd end up relaxing far more than I should—and that would negatively affect my training.
Parashurama: Besides, I'd like to meet (Captain) once I'm proud of who I am. I want to be at my absolute best.
Alexiel: Very well then.
The two primals say their farewells, after which Parashurama turns his gaze toward Deku, Todoroki, and Tsuyu.
Parashurama: I'm truly grateful to have met you all during my travels.
Parashurama: Especially you, Deku. If it had not been for you, I would've undoubtedly gone berserk once more.
Parashurama: You have my gratitude.
Izuku Midoriya: All I did was give you the opportunity. It's you who decided to take it, and that goes to show how strong you truly are.
Parashurama: Even so...
Parashurama: I promise to take your words to heart and learn to fully control my powers as a primal.
Parashurama stares straight at Deku with a look of determination, and his eyes shimmer as if trying to prove his resolve.
Parashurama: You'll be accompanying (Captain) for the time being, correct?
Izuku Midoriya: Yeah. We still have to find a way to get back to our own world.
Parashurama: I see... Then perhaps we can one day meet again aboard the airship and continue our conversation from the other day.
Izuku Midoriya: Of course! I'll introduce you to some of my other friends too!
Parashurama: I look forward to it.
The primal gives them one final bow before taking his leave.
Tsuyu Asui: It kinda feels lonely without him, huh?
Shoto Todoroki: Well, we've been through a lot together.
Alexiel: I wouldn't worry. I'm sure we'll reunite in the not-too-distant future. You can count on him to make it happen.
Izuku Midoriya: I hope so... I'd love to see him again.
Izuku Midoriya: All right then. I guess we should head back too. (Captain) and the others are probably worrying by now.
Deku gives one last glance toward the skies into which his friend departed before turning around.
As he makes his way back, he thinks about how he should best tell this bizarre tale to (Captain) and the others.
