Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Opening

The anti-government resistance Rie Famille leads a successful coup d'etat in Roanne—one of the seven islands of the Oarlyegrande Skydom's Island Nation Federation. But because the president has escaped to Roanne's floating fortress, Rie Famille's leading members, Lukav and Erika, request the assistance of (Captain)'s crew.

The Island Nation Federation is situated in a remote part of the Oarlyegrande Skydom.
Though the federation is nowhere near the scale of the Istavion Kingdom, the two governments share an amicable relationship.
The seven islands that comprise the federation are each allowed some autonomy in their economic development and other affairs.
One of those islands is Roanne.
The usual clamor of politicians' footsteps that fill Roanne's parliament halls is today replaced by the drone of marching jackboots.
???: Attention, compatriots! Parliament's fall is imminent! The president lies just beyond this door!
Famille Soldier 1: Raaaah!
???: We've come so far...
???: President Jerome's capture is all that stands in the way of certain victory.
???: Yeah, he's not getting away...
???: (We're almost there, Mom...)
Famille Soldier 1: Adjutant! We've received word that the vanguard is ready to charge in!
Erika: Good!
Erika: Rejoice, everyone, for victory shall soon be upon us!
Erika's stirring remark elicits whoops of triumph from her comrades in Rie Famille.
Erika: On your order, Commander Lukav.
Lukav: ...
Erika: Luka... What's wrong?
Lukav: Oh, I was just working out the minutia of the operation in my head.
Lukav: After all, it wasn't easy making it deep into enemy headquarters.
Erika: We'll be fine! Just take a good look at the good-luck charm I made you—it'll keep you levelheaded.
Lukav: Heh, there you go again... I'll take your word for it.
Lukav places a hand on the charm sewn onto the inside of his military uniform and takes a deep breath.
Lukav: Fellow soldiers! Now begins the final stage of our operation to seize parliament!
Lukav: Believe in yourselves!
Ready... Charge!
Famille Soldier 1: Chaaarge!
On Lukav's signal, the soldiers of Rie Famille pour into parliament.
Famille Soldier 1: Fire away! Keep up the pressure!
Roanne Soldier 1: Do not give an inch to these traitorous dogs! We'll put these riffraff in their place!
The clash between the two sides ends in a flash, with battle cries and gunfire coming to a quick halt.
Famille Soldier 1: We've captured numerous members of government, but the president is nowhere to be seen!
Lukav gets up close to one of the Roanne soldiers.
Lukav: Where's President Jerome?
Roanne Soldier 1: ...
Erika: Last chance. Answer him.
Roanne Soldier 1: Eh... Do what you have to.
The soldier looks out toward the windows, where a giant, man-made island is in view.
Erika: Don't tell me... He's escaped to the floating fortress?
Roanne Soldier 1: You're too late! The president's already taken to the skies!
The rebel forces are slightly shaken at the sight of a few airships headed for the floating fortress.
Erika: Humph... Nothing but empty ruins in there. They'll be like rats trapped in a corner.
Lukav: We'll want to catch them before they arrive. After all, it's not always easy finding rats in a maze. Good thing we have airships at the ready.
Lukav: Fifth fleet, come in! The president is en route to the floating fortress in his personal vessel along with a few escorts!
Lukav: Approach and order them to stop. If they refuse, shoot down the escorts.
5th Fleet Helmsman: Understood! Fifth fleet moving out!
And so the fifth fleet chases after the president's vessel on Lukav's orders.
???: Phew, we made it out of there in one piece...
???: ...
???: ...
???: ...
5th Fleet Helmsman: Contact with the enemy in five minutes...
Lukav: Avoid shooting the president's ship. We want him alive.
5th Fleet Helmsman: Roger that!
The fifth fleet catches up to the president's vessel before it can dock at the floating fortress.
5th Fleet Helmsman: We've got you now!
Just as the helmsman prepares to make contact...
5th Fleet Helmsman: Gwaaagh!
Giant laser beams fired from the floating fortress's cannons turn most of the fifth fleet to ash in a matter of seconds.
Lukav: What was that flash of light just now!
Erika: This can't be...
Famille Soldier 1: No, our comrades...
Roanne Soldier 1: Who knew they still had this much firepower...
Erika: Wh-what was that attack just now? Answer me!
Roanne Soldier 1: I'm not privy to the details...
Roanne Soldier 1: All I know is the parliament anticipated that you savages would come out in full force, and so they sent some troops to the fortress in advance.
Lukav: An ancient ruin of the War still functioning after all this time?
The members of Rie Famille watch on in awe from behind the windows as the wreckage of the fifth fleet crashes down.
Lukav: Never mind the president for now! Leave a few men behind at each of our few bases, but have the majority gather at parliament!
Famille Soldier 1: Understood!
Erika offers a silent prayer in the midst of the burgeoning panic.
Erika: (Your sacrifices will not be in vain...)
Erika: (I will carry your hopes and wishes with me to the very end.)
Lukav stands before his fellow Rie Famille soldiers.
Lukav: I must ask...
Lukav: Are you aware that Roanne's ranked lowest among the seven islands of the federation purely because of the government's willful negligence?
Lukav: The politicians reap all the benefits afforded by the federation, while ruling the populace with an iron fist.
Lukav: Ten years have passed since we first founded Rie Famille to topple this oppressive regime.
Lukav: It is on this momentous occasion that we've finally seized parliament—the symbol of the rot that has plagued us for decades!
Lukav: This remarkable accomplishment was possible only because of everyone's tireless efforts all these years.
Lukav: Blessings upon both the comrades gathered here today... and the souls of those we've lost along the way!
Famille Soldier 1: Huzzah! Commander Lukav!
Lukav: It pains me to say that we've lost a good number of men to their cowardly attack from the floating fortress earlier.
Lukav: Are we going to let them get away with this? No, I say! We're going to make the bastards pay!
Lukav: The fact remains that our victory is assured if we can capture President Jerome, who now hides out in the floating fortress!
Lukav: I promise you we are going to track him down and see our mission completed!
Lukav's impassioned speech evokes battle cries from Rie Famille's members.
Lukav: Erika... Any chance I can ask you to contact that crew?
Erika: Wait... You're serious?
Erika: We can do this on our own! I mean, we've practically cornered the enemy at this point!
Lukav: There's no telling how much firepower is left in that floating fortress. Don't you think we've sacrificed enough already?
Erika: Fair point...
Lukav: I'm counting on you.
Lukav: (Is it fate which brought that hero to this skydom?)
Erika: (What could that man possibly be doing in this skydom right now...)
The thoughts of Lukav and Erika are awhirl amid the feverish excitement of the situation.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 1: Daughter - Episode 1

When Yngwie sees the letter from Rie Famille, he realizes his daughter may be in Roanne and so the crew accepts the request. It turns out Rie Famille sought them out because Yngwie had previously traversed the floating fortress.

While traveling through the Oarlyegrande Skydom, the crew receives a letter requesting assistance.
The sender is based in Roanne of the Island Nation Federation. They are an organization calling themselves Rie Famille.
Yngwie: Roanne? Haven't heard that name in a long time.
Lyria: According to the letter, Rie Famille is an anti-government resistance that aims to bring down the regime in Roanne.
Eugen: Anti-government? Hm, not exactly my idea of peaceful...
Rackam: Let's see here... "In order to take out the last remaining government forces, who are holed up in the floating fortress..."
Rackam: We would like to request the assistance of Yngwie—a hero who once traversed the very fortress itself—and the crew he's enlisted in.
Yngwie: Hm? Rackam, let me see that for myself.
His curiosity piqued, Yngwie takes the letter from Rackam's hand.
After scanning through its contents once, his expression stiffens.
Yngwie: (Captain)... I've got a favor to ask about this, if you'll hear me out.
This man, Yngwie, once served as the captain of his own crew—the Debonair Daredevils.
Having traveled to every skydom in existence, he has the reputation of a legendary skyfarer.
Yngwie: Honestly, the conflict described in the letter has got nothing to do with us.
Yngwie: But I've got my own reason for going to Roanne.
Lyria: Um... Would you like to talk about it?
Yngwie: Sure... I think my daughter might be there.
Vyrn: You mean the one who sent that crumpled old letter? How do ya figure?
Yngwie had once retired from his life as a skyfarer, but when a letter claiming to be from his daughter suddenly arrived one day, he knew it was time to get back into the fold.
Lyria: Didn't that letter say "help me"?
Yngwie: Sure did. Thing was postmarked more than a decade ago... Since it took its sweet time getting to me, I couldn't pinpoint the sender's location.
Yngwie: The handwriting in today's letter though? I'd recognize that anywhere.
Yngwie: Especially the words "help me," which I must've reread in my daughter's missive a million times over. It's written in the exact same style.
The captain is quick to respond, saying "You got it, Yngwie. Let's do this together."
Lyria: Teehee, of course we're going!
Yngwie: Merci. You have my thanks, (Captain).
Yngwie: Her words "help me" got me this far. Feels like the end of my journey is near.
Vyrn: ...
And so the Grandcypher sets a course for Roanne Island.
Lukav: A pleasure to meet you. I'm Lukav, supreme commander of Rie Famille.
Lukav: This here's my adjutant, Erika. She's the one who contacted you.
Erika: Happy to meet you. Name's Erika.
Yngwie: ...!
Lukav: (Captain), I'd like to start by thanking you for accepting this mission.
  1. We haven't officially agreed to it yet.
  2. Save your thanks for later.

Choose: We haven't officially agreed to it yet.
Choose: Save your thanks for later.
Lukav: Apologies for jumping the gun. I suppose it's only fair that you hear the whole story first before making a decision.
Lukav: Now without further ado...
Lukav: In order to take the floating fortress in the skies of Roanne, we seek the aid of the crew that employs Yngwie.
Lukav: Just the other day, our organization Rie Famille finally overthrew the despotic government after many trials and tribulations over the years.
Lukav: However, the president and many of his aides escaped to the floating fortress before we could capture them.
Vyrn: It was mentioned in the letter too, but what exactly is this floating fortress thing?
Lukav: A ruin of the Astrals. It was used as a military outpost during the time of the War.
Yngwie: And that's where I come in, huh...
Vyrn: You know those ruins?
Yngwie: Yep, that's where I picked up my shield—twenty years ago. Place was like a ghost town at the time.
Lukav: Indeed, we didn't think anything had changed on that front—until we lost a good number of ships and men to the fortress's cannons.
Lukav: The government must have figured out a way to activate its defenses somehow.
Lukav: Anyhow, that's when we decided to seek you and your crew for assistance, since you've actually been in there.
Erika: Legends also speak of an anomalous weapon left behind by Astrals in the fortress. To avoid any unnecessary risk, it's best that we go in well-prepared.
Lyria: The Astrals' anomalous weapon? What could that be...
Vyrn: Wait, are we even safe here? What if they blast us right this second?
Lukav: As powerful as the beams are, their range is limited. Furthermore the fortress is stationary; it cannot fly about freely.
Lukav: If the fortress were actually capable of all that, the federation would never have considered our island ripe for exploitation.
Yngwie: The "federation"... As in the Island Nation Federation? My info's outdated, but I remember Roanne being at the bottom of the barrel.
Lukav: A fact that still holds true today. The federation practically controls Roanne's economy, reaping all the benefits of our hard work.
Lukav: That's why we formed Rie Famille—to overthrow the puppet government that exists only to serve at the federation's every whim.
Lyria: By the way... How did you know Yngwie was in our crew?
Lukav: That tidbit came from the information network of Erika, who's well-versed in matters of espionage.
Erika: I kept my ears perked for anything pertaining to Yngwie.
Yngwie: ...
Lukav: In addition to having been to the fortress, the tales of Yngwie's legendary exploits across the skies are truly on another level.
Yngwie: So the gist of it is you want us to be your crack team of mercs to finally end this civil war.
Yngwie: It's been a while since I last set foot in the fortress. As long as you keep that in mind, I'm cool with sharing what I know.
Yngwie: I'm probably gonna end up helping out on this one, (Captain)...
Yngwie: But given that this assignment deals purely with Roanne's internal politics, I'd understand if you prefer to sit this one out—
  1. I don't mind helping out...

Choose: I don't mind helping out...
Lukav: While I'm most pleased to hear that... do you have any cause for concern?
In return, the captain requests Rie Famille's assistance in helping Yngwie find his daughter.
Yngwie: (Captain)...
Rackam: Yeah, we could also use a guide. We don't know a thing about this island.
Lukav: But of course. Erika, I'll leave that to you.
Erika: Wha?
Erika: I mean... Yes sir!
And so (Captain) decides to take on the assignment.
Lukav: To start with, Erika will show you around the facilities.
Erika: R-right. If you'll follow me this way, everyone...
Her calm demeanor suddenly shaken, Erika leads the crew out of parliament.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 1: Daughter - Episode 2

After Erika shows the crew around parliament, Yngwie asks about her being the daughter that sent him an urgent letter all those years ago. It turns out Erika resents Yngwie for not responding to the SOS back then, believing he could have saved her mother.

The crew follows Erika for a stroll across a central courtyard facing parliament.
Is it lively everywhere they look, with many Rie Famille members sharing drinks in revelry.
Erika: Government dignitaries once used these facilities.
Erika: I think you'll find it quite comfortable here, but let me know if there's anything you need.
Lyria: Thank you very much, Erika!
Erika: Haha... Why don't we have an intermission here? You could probably use the time to cool off yourselves.
Lyria: Okay! (Captain), Vyrn—let's go explore the courtyard some more!
Vyrn: Sigh... You're as energetic as ever, Lyria.
Vyrn: You sure about this though, Miss Adjutant? I mean, isn't everyone bein' a bit too carefree when you consider we've still got the fortress to worry about?
Erika: Carefree?
Erika: Aha, so that's what it looks like to you!
Vyrn: Huh?
Erika: That's the whole point actually. We've practically already reclaimed the country for the people.
Erika: The remaining government forces can't go on the offensive, so they have to play the waiting game. Though it seems they do have enough food to last a while.
Erika: Thing is, if we charge in there while they're still in high spirits, that only works to their advantage.
Erika: So the idea is to gradually wear them out over time.
Rackam: No need to rush, even though the other side probably wants us to, eh?
Erika: You can bet on it. I mean, just look at how fancy parliament is.
Erika stretches out both arms and makes a little twirl.
Erika: Politicians lived the good life here while making the citizenry suffer.
Erika: As a kid, I got so hungry at times that I fed on boiled tree bark to survive.
Erika: Rations were so few that it was the best option a friend and I could think of.
Rackam: Oof, that's rough...
Erika: Our lawmakers though? They know nothing but luxury and gratification; just look at their massive stockpiles of food and wine.
Erika: Our members are out in town with the crates, distributing foodstuffs and supplies to the less fortunate families.
Erika: That's why I'm glad those stuffed shirt officeholders are finally living a lower standard of living in that decrepit, old fortress.
Erika: To get a taste of what we've been through...
Yngwie: ...
Erika: Ideally, we want to strike only after they've grown irritated with life there. Maybe it'll even drive a wedge between them.
Erika: Of course, we'll want to keep a close watch on the fortress to make sure they don't escape by ship.
Eugen: Solid plan. The operation will go that much more smoothly if there's infighting among them.
Vyrn: So we can expect this mission to be smooth sailin' then?
Erika: Well, there is one problem in particular... Among those who've escaped to the fortress is General Anderson...
Yngwie: Oho...
Rackam: Anderson? Is he someone we should be afraid of?
Erika: He's an absolute powerhouse. What's more, his men hold him in the highest regard, so it's possible their morale hasn't dipped.
Erika: Despite his service to the rotten government, various circumstances make him very popular even among the people.
Erika: You'll want to watch yourselves if you ever go up against Anderson. He wields a giant halberd about yea big.
Vyrn: Sounds like he's no slouch... We might have our work cut out for us after all.
Erika: Funny thing is, he's so straitlaced that many in government find him difficult to deal with—something we might be able to take advantage of.
Eugen: You've really looked into the ins and outs of everything, huh... I guess the comment about you being skilled in espionage wasn't just blind praise.
Erika: Well, I'm not the adjutant for nothing. And I'm capable of plenty more than just espionage, you know?
Erika: I also happen to be the best shot with a rifle in Rie Famille.
Lyria: Wow, that's amazing!
Vyrn: Mighty impressive for sure!
Erika: You can count on me if a fight breaks out. Of course, I'm nowhere near your level, but I promise not to be a hindrance when the shooting starts.
Rackam: We've got a pretty good picture of the situation now. For the time being, I'm gonna look into the air currents around this area.
Eugen: And I suppose I should take this chance to make sure our weapons are ready to go.
The crew members each go off on their own, leaving Erika and Yngwie alone in the courtyard.
Erika: Lukav wanted to speak to you alone, so be sure to drop by parliament later.
Yngwie: Hold it...
F. Famille Soldier: Um... Excuse me! You must be Yngwie?
Yngwie: Mm-hm. And you are?
F. Famille Soldier: Ah... It's an incredible honor to meet you in person! I'm a huge fan of yours!
F. Famille Soldier: Um, would you be up for lunch with me? If not now, then tonight's good too!
Yngwie: Mademoiselle... Appreciate the invite, but one town, one girl—that's my rule.
F. Famille Soldier: I-I'm so sorry! What a terribly rude thing of me to ask!
Yngwie: Nothing wrong with a beautiful woman being true to her feelings.
Erika: I forgot to mention this, but try not to cause any unnecessary trouble.
Yngwie: My apologies. The lady was so charming, I couldn't help but speak to her.
F. Famille Soldier: A-adjutant! It was I who—
Erika: Heh... I'm just going to pretend I didn't see anything.
F. Famille Soldier: Th-thank you! I'll return to my station!
Erika: The rumors weren't kidding about you being a total lady-killer.
Erika: Maybe you should go over to see Lukav before you get waylaid again.
Yngwie: Any chance you can draw me a simple map? I'm still new to this place, you see.
Erika: The parliament building's literally right there, but... I suppose I can manage that.
Erika: Okay. Now off you go.
Yngwie: Merci. Can I say something first?
Erika: Yeah?
Yngwie: I've been wanting to see you, my sweetie.
Erika: ...
Yngwie: Erika... It was you who wrote the letters, wasn't it?
Yngwie: This latest letter that reached the crew was in the same handwriting as the one my daughter sent me all those years ago.
Yngwie: What's more, your eyes look just like your mother's... How's she doing?
Yngwie carefully takes out an old letter and unfolds it before Erika.
Erika: Yeah... I remember sending that.
Erika: But this so-called "hero" Yngwie that everyone praises never got back to me...
Erika: I was a fool for expecting anything.
Yngwie: The postmark on the thing is over ten years ago. The letter was so worn out, I could barely read it. What exactly happened?
Erika: The Nightmare at Rire...
Erika: If you had just stayed behind in the village twenty years ago, Mom wouldn't have had to die!
Yngwie: ...!
So she's passed away then...
Yngwie: How did it come to that? Tell me, Erika—
Growing increasingly flustered, Erika doesn't wait for Yngwie to finish speaking before taking off at a brisk pace.
Yngwie: ...
Left to his lonesome, Yngwie leaves shortly after too, a pained expression on his face.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 1: Daughter - Episode 3

President Jerome, First Lady Caroline, and various ministers of Roanne are holed up in the floating fortress—which is essentially an Astral ruin. General Anderson suggests they wait for the federation to send aid, but panic runs amok when financial adviser Heinrich remarks that Rie Famille has hired the crew that employs Yngwie.

President Jerome: Why does this have to happen during my term? Surely, they could've chosen to do this when any other president was in office...
Roanne Minister 1: Maybe if you hadn't split the army in two, we could have crushed Lukav's resistance by now.
Roanne Minister 2: Good grief... Do you not realize the difference in military might? We'd be deader than dead right now if we hadn't evacuated to the floating fortress!
Roanne Minister 3: I say we should've sought asylum in another island! Anything's better than this moldy wreck of a hideout!
President Jerome and his ministers engage in heated debate in the floating fortress's control room.
???: "Ahahaha! What lively conversation! Isn't everyone just having a wonderful time?"
The first lady, Caroline, chuckles like an innocent child, a rabbit plushie clutched in her arms.
???: President Jerome, I apologize for the delay. Permission to update you on the plan going forward.
Anderson, a seasoned veteran who rose to the rank of general and swears absolute fealty to the president, briefs everyone present.
President Jerome: Ah, Anderson! I've waited too long to hear from you! Tell me the latest news!
Anderson: We have secured our position in the floating fortress and will have to defend ourselves here.
Anderson: The rebel forces fear the power of the fortress's beams and dare not approach.
Anderson: In other words, we're at a stalemate. Surely the Island Nation Federation will take notice and send reinforcements in due time.
President Jerome: So basically, victory is ours just as long as we hold out long enough until then.
Anderson: Indeed. Although because we lack the means to communicate with neighboring nations from here, we may need more time than expected.
Anderson: I'd considered the possibility of evacuating by airship and requesting reinforcements directly, but the enemy would likely be on our tail the entire way.
Roanne Minister 1: Why not assign some soldiers to that task? Sure beats wasting away in here...
General Anderson answers calmly to the minister's suggestion of risking his subordinates' lives.
Anderson: Our ships are few in number as is. Even losing a single one would affect our chances greatly.
Anderson: Therefore, I've decided that evacuation will be our last resort—it will mean that we're running for our very lives.
Anderson: But that time hasn't come yet. As the situation stands, we can't afford to lose a single vessel.
Anderson: Of course, it'd be a different story if the fortress were mobile and the beam had a longer reach...
President Jerome: Well, can't really expect much from ancient ruins... Its age really shows everywhere...
Anderson: Everything considered, continuing to stay holed up in here remains our best option.
President Jerome: I guess I have no reason to doubt that when you're the one saying it...
President Jerome: Very well then. I leave command of the army in your hands.
Anderson: Yes sir.
President Jerome: Besides, the federation will notice soon enough that we're not responding to their calls. It shouldn't take too long before they send help.
It is then that a man gracefully sipping tea in the control room's corner approaches the president.
???: Mr. President... Are you really okay with that?
President Jerome: Heinrich... What are you trying to say?
This man is Roanne's financial adviser as well as the president's personal consultant.
Heinrich: Our spies tell us that the rebels have hired a highly talented crew which happens to employ the hero Yngwie.
President Jerome: Gosh no... When did that happen! Why didn't you tell me sooner!
Anderson: The hero Yngwie, eh...
Heinrich: My apologies. I did not want to speak out of turn... and so simply sipped on my tea in silence.
Anderson: Fair enough... But if you want to continue sipping on that tea, you'll let us know the important stuff straight away.
Heinrich: Right, of course. I'll bear that in mind.
The control room's brief moment of silence is quickly replaced by more clamor, brought on by Heinrich's revelation.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 1: Daughter - Episode 4

Yngwie asks Lukav about the Nightmare at Rire that Erika mentioned earlier. It was a horrific incident that happened a decade ago, where the government rounded up the adults of Rire Village and sent them off to die in prison. Lukav and Erika both lived through that nightmare. Despite the shocking revelation, the crew and Rie Famille members socialize over some revelry.

Yngwie finds Lukav in the main office room of parliament.
Lukav: Hero Yngwie, I greatly appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
Yngwie: You can drop the "hero" part. And if you're gonna thank anyone, save it for (Captain).
Lukav: Most certainly. Compensation will be in order as well.
Gran is the Main Character

Lukav: You know, I was about your captain's age when I first founded Rie Famille. That's why I feel a special bond between us.
Djeeta is the Main Character

Lukav: You know, I was about your captain's age when I first founded Rie Famille. That's why I feel a special bond between us.
Lukav: Well then, let's get down to business. I'd like to discuss the strategy for taking on the floating fortress, starting with those dreaded laser cannons...
Yngwie: Can I ask a question first?
Lukav: Sure...
Yngwie: What can you tell me about the Nightmare at Rire? What happened to that village?
Yngwie: A woman I once loved called Rire her home. She was Erika's mother.
Yngwie: That's not where I met her, but I dropped by the village a few times.
Lukav: I know—Rire was my home as well. Though I unfortunately don't remember having seen you there.
Yngwie: Hm... I might've crossed paths with a younger you, at the very least.
Lukav: The Nightmare at Rire, eh...
(Captain) and company join Rie Famille for a celebration in parliament's courtyard.
Erika: The Nightmare at Rire was a major scandal perpetrated by the Roanne government about a decade ago.
Lyria: A scandal...
Erika: Many were found "guilty" of wrongdoing without proper evidence.
Erika: A hundred adults, my mother among them, were suddenly hauled away one day on suspicion of treason and died in prison.
Erika: The children left behind scattered to various places, and the village as we knew it was no more. That's when one of the orphans, Lukav, led the founding of this organization.
Erika: Rie Famille's grown a lot in the past decade. The other founding members have all since passed away, save for me and Lukav.
Eugen: What a messed-up story...
Rackam: How did things get that bad to begin with?
Erika shakes her head at Rackam's question.
Erika: As children, it was impossible for us to uncover the truth.
Erika: The truth remains buried to this day... We're only left with the fact that a hundred people died.
Yngwie: Sounds like a lot happened after I left.
Lukav: The grievous, irremediable pain dealt to us became the driving force of our actions and carried us this far.
Yngwie: Anything you remember about Erika's past?
Yngwie: Around the time the incident happened, she sent me a letter...
Yngwie: You might've already known at the time, but she's my daughter.
Lukav: So I've heard. She told me all about the great hero Yngwie time and time again.
Yngwie: Uh-huh...
Lukav: Before the Nightmare, she held you in the highest regard.
Lukav: I mean, can you imagine having a mom who'd sing endless praise of this Yngwie guy's heroic exploits, day in and day out?
Lukav: When you grow up in that kind of environment and suddenly find yourself in need of someone you can depend on, of course this hero would be the first person you think of.
Yngwie: A hero, huh...
Vyrn: Hey...
Erika: Yes, Vyrn? Did you want a drink too?
Vyrn: Nah, it's not that... It's just I overheard the two of ya havin' a little squabble...
Everyone at the party seems to be engaged in their own little conversations.
Lyria: Umm... Erika, are you...
Erika: Oh, so you heard that, huh? Well, the courtyard isn't exactly the most private space after all...
Erika: Yep, I'm Yngwie's daughter.
Rackam: Holy smokes! So he finally found you!
Eugen: Now that's a surprise! We heard you were on the island when we first came, but...
  1. Cute family.
  2. Thank goodness.

Choose: Cute family.
Choose: Thank goodness.
Erika: Aw, gimme a break. It's not as if it's some big, happy family reunion.
Vyrn: But... But he went through so much trouble to find you...
Eugen: Lay off, guys... I know from firsthand experience that it's not always smooth sailin' between father and daughter.
Eugen: For now, let's just be glad the search is over.
Lyria: B-but...
Rackam: Eugen's got a point. All that's left is for the two to talk it out.
Rackam: 'Sides, we've got our own job to do. Let's worry about that first before helpin' the two reconcile.
Lyria: Okay...
Erika: C'mon, there's no need for you to be so down! I appreciate the concern, but you're almost making me feel sorry...
Sensing that the two aren't on the best of terms, (Captain) and company go quiet, which in turn makes Erika feel awkward.
Erika: All right, let me flip the question around then... What kind of person is Yngwie exactly?
Lyria: He cares very much for his friends and is always incredibly reliable!
Vyrn: He goes off on his own sometimes, but he shows up to save the day when we're in a jam!
Erika: So you guys trust him...
Eugen: He's crazy bold to the extreme, often acting on instinct. But he knows how to care for others.
Rackam: He's got experience as a skyfarer in spades... often resolving entire missions by himself.
Erika: I see...
Erika: He's not a complete no-show then...
Erika appears to fall quiet, her low muttering inaudible to anyone else.
Lyria: Erika?
Erika: Oh, sorry... What were you saying?
Vyrn: We were talkin' about stuff to do when this is all over. Got any plans yourself, Miss Adjutant?
Erika: Plans for the future? Hm...
Erika: Never really gave it much thought. Except for...
Vyrn: 'Cept for what...
Erika: ...
For one thing, I wouldn't mind falling in love.
All: ...
Vyrn: Haha. That's actually kinda normal.
Erika: Wh-what's that supposed to mean!
Erika: Are you saying I shouldn't fall in love?
Lyria: Yeah, Vyrn! That's a little rude!
Vyrn: Whoops, my bad... That's not what I meant!
Rackam: Just means it's something you couldn't get to with everything else going on. Glad you have something to look forward to.
Famille Soldier 1: Adjutant Erika! If it's love you're looking for, then I'm more than happy to volunteer!
Erika: Sorry, hard pass.
Famille Soldier 1: Sniff...
Eugen: Bwahahaha!
More candidates come out of the woodwork upon hearing of Erika's yearning for love.
Famille Soldier 2: I heard a contest to decide on Adjutant Erika's lover is happening?
Famille Soldier 3: Sounds fun. Where do I sign up?
Famille Soldier 1: It's no contest because I'm the only applicant!
Famille Soldier 2: Your application got rejected flat-out!
Erika: Gah... I shouldn't have blurted that out! Enough about this! You're all dismissed!
Lyria: Wow! Erika is so popular!
Erika: Oh, hardly... I'd say they're mostly just teasing or following the crowd.
Eugen: I wonder about that. Some of them, the look in their eyes told me otherwise.
Erika: Y-you think so?
Rackam: Hahaha! Sounds like you've got one heck of an entertaining life ahead of ya!
Lyria: I hope your island finds peace soon, Erika.
Erika: Thanks... I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Erika: Eugen, Rackam, how about another glass? C'mon, drink up!
Rackam: Righto.
Eugen: Heheh, thanks!
Yngwie: Erika places a lot of trust in you. Mind if I ask about your relationship?
Lukav: Yeah, it wasn't long before I found myself looking after her, what with me being her senior in age. Over time, she became like a little sister to me.
Yngwie: I suppose she was able to come this far because she had a brother figure to look up to.
Yngwie: For that, you have my thanks, Lukav.
Lukav: None needed. In the same way, I got to where I am today because of everyone's support.
Yngwie: Heh... You're a bit of a stiff, aren't ya? You got a lover? Erika maybe?
Yngwie: Not that I have any right to butt in if you two are a thing, of course. I only ask that you make her happy.
Lukav: No, that's never come up between us.
Yngwie: Oh? You've got someone else then?
Lukav: Yngwie, I'm a virgin.
Yngwie: ...
Yngwie: Oh... Okay then...
Yngwie: Oh, I get it... You want to start from a clean slate.
Yngwie: Doesn't feel right to put your fallen comrades in the past and indulge in life's pleasures, eh?
Lukav: You see right through me.
Yngwie: I like you. We ought to have a good chat over some drinks once this is all over.
Lukav: Drinks?
Yngwie: Yeah, I wanna tell you all about how incredible women can be. It'll be a grand time.
Yngwie: Consider it payment for services rendered. What do you say? Of course, this is after we've found peace for Roanne.
Lukav: I'll think about it.
Yngwie: It's a promise.
Lukav: Time is precious... Mind if I continue with the next item on the agenda?
Yngwie: Yeah... Let's do that.
This social function proves to be a good chance for the crew and Rie Famille to get to know each other better.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 2: Operation - Episode 1

Morale is at an all-time high as preparations for a raid on the floating fortress are underway. The Grandcypher's main job is to offer support for the other ships when approaching the fortress. Yngwie, however, has mixed feelings about Erika participating in this mission.

The air is tense as the crew and anti-government forces come together in parliament.
Lukav: We are gathered here today for one express purpose.
Lukav: We've devised a strategy to seize the floating fortress where the president and his cabinet are currently holed up.
Lukav: We'll have cruisers aboard a few airships that will approach just beyond the reach of the fortress's firing range.
Lukav: The cruisers—which will be transporting our finest soldiers—will be launched from there. The airships' cannon fire should be able to cancel out any beams; smoke screens will also be deployed.
Lukav: Those who make landfall on the fortress will go in to secure the president.
Lukav: And now we have a message about the floating fortress from Yngwie, a hero who's set foot there before.
Yngwie: Yngwie here. You've each been handed a piece of paper that has the fortress's terrain mapped out to the best of my memory.
Yngwie: Sorry if you were expecting any more info than that, but I'm not sure how much firepower is left in that place.
Yngwie: Of course, I'm sure you've all heard rumors of the anomalous weapon that turned neighboring islands into hellscapes during the time of the War.
Yngwie: I didn't see anything like that in my time exploring the fortress, but it's possible I simply missed it. So don't get too lax.
Yngwie: Supposing we're able to land without too many hiccups, that weapon's gonna be our next big problem.
Yngwie: Going in well-prepared definitely makes a difference, but keep in mind things don't always go according to plan. What's more important is the ability to readily adapt to whatever comes up.
Yngwie: I can't count on both hands the number of times that's been true in my life as a skyfarer.
Yngwie: My advice is to trust in whatever decisions you make. Come back alive so we can all celebrate our victory together.
Famille Soldiers: Huzzah! Yngwie the hero!
Lukav: Yes! The great hero Yngwie is on our side!
Lukav: Victory is within our grasp!
Famille Soldiers: Hail Commander Lukav!
Lukav: This ends the briefing. Begin preparations.
The Rie Famille soldiers are in high spirits as they each scuttle off to gear up.
Lukav: We'll be counting greatly on the maneuverability of your airship. Your experience as skyfarers will come in handy.
Lukav: After all, in Rie Famille we don't get too many chances to practice our flying skills.
Yngwie: Sounds good to me. Just don't expect us to sit back and stare at your asses while you do all the heavy lifting.
Yngwie: We're in this every step of the way. Means we go in together, Lukav.
Yngwie: Right, (Captain)?
  1. Damn straight!

Choose: Damn straight!
Lukav: That is most reassuring.
Erika: Appreciate it, guys. I'll be fighting with you all.
Yngwie: ...
A myriad of emotions runs through Yngwie's head as he looks over at his daughter with concern.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 2: Operation - Episode 2

Yngwie has a chat with Lukav in the parliament courtyard about what it means to be a hero. Afterward, he visits a nostalgic place he once came to with Erika's late mother and vows to protect Erika.

Things are busy at the airship dock as preparations for a major military operation are underway.
Yngwie: Erika...
Erika: Can't you see I'm busy?
Yngwie: I heard you're quite the sharpshooter among the members of Rie Famille.
Erika: What do you want?
Yngwie: In an operation where you lure the enemy into familiar territory, being a crack shot is definitely a huge plus. But do you think you'll be able to fight just as effectively on the floating fortress?
Erika: I... I won't know until I've tried. After all, it's not like I've ever set foot there.
Yngwie: True. But offering logistics support from back here is just as important.
Erika: You're telling me, the adjutant, to stay behind?
Yngwie: I'm just saying it's one way to go about it.
Erika: Shut up!
Erika: What the hell do you know anyway!
Erika: If you really cared about me, you would've come during the Nightmare at Rire to save Mom!
Erika: Heroes are the worst—swooping in to save the day when it's convenient and turning their backs when the going gets tough!
Erika: If you're not gonna see this through to the end... then I'd rather you didn't get involved at all!
Yngwie: ...
Yngwie leaves the dock and walks through the courtyard.
Yngwie: Lukav, what are you up to?
Lukav: Yngwie... Just tending to the flower bed.
Yngwie: Didn't peg you for a gardener.
Lukav: Not sure if I'd call myself that, but the greenery here was planted for everyone's sake.
Lukav: And since we're the ones overlooking the courtyard now, it only makes sense that I tend to the flowers.
Lukav takes a break from gardening and turns to Yngwie.
Lukav: You get a chance to speak to Erika?
Yngwie: Yeah... It's just as you might expect.
Lukav: In her mind, you were a hero among heroes because of the way her mom spoke about you all the time.
Lukav: But because you didn't—or rather, you couldn't—answer her SOS, her mother died. It was like losing two people she cared about at once.
Yngwie: ...
Lukav: Sorry, I didn't mean to blame you.
Lukav: And I'm sure that deep down, Erika understands it wouldn't be fair to blame you either.
Yngwie: Heh... That your way of consoling me? 'Preciate it.
Yngwie: I forgot to ask, but was your family a casualty of the Nightmare at Rire as well?
Lukav: That's how I lost my dad. Mom had already passed away to sickness before that.
Yngwie: Sorry to make you dig up old memories... But I just want to know the situation at the time as much as possible.
Lukav: Oh, I don't mind. There hasn't been a day where I didn't think back to that tragedy.
Lukav: I often think of my mother as fortunate for not having been entangled in the whole mess.
Lukav bends down to resume his gardening.
Yngwie: Even with everything going on, I'm surprised you still find time to tend to the flower bed, in addition to the situation with me and Erika.
Lukav: Yeah, I make a point of doing what I can. I suppose it's how I make up for all my screwups over the years.
Yngwie: No need for modesty. I'd say you have what it takes to be a hero for the new generation.
Yngwie: In fact, your men told me that's what you're called these days.
Lukav slightly twitches at hearing that epithet.
Lukav: Yngwie... Do you think I'm worthy of being a hero?
Yngwie: "Hero" is just a title people use to prop up and idolize someone they respect.
Yngwie: How you respond to that is entirely up to you, but I wouldn't dwell on it.
Lukav: Wise words from a living legend. I'll keep that in mind.
Yngwie: Well, I better get going soon. Any chance you can spare me one of those flowers?
Lukav: Sure... Just give me a second here.
Yngwie: I'm gonna go say hello to an old sweetheart before the battle starts.
Yngwie: I figure a little gift would be a nice gesture.
Lukav takes a second to grab a flower for Yngwie.
Yngwie: Merci. See you later on the battlefield.
Lukav: Yeah, see you on the battlefield.
Parting with Lukav, Yngwie goes over to a vast, grassy plain next.
Yngwie: The view hasn't changed a bit since we last came here together.
Yngwie: Clear, blue skies in every direction.
Woman: Mm-hm... I didn't think the sky could be so beautiful until you freed me from my life as a slave.
Woman: Yngwie, I can never thank you enough for showing me the beauty of this world.
Yngwie: It's also under these same cerulean skies that I get to gaze upon your beauty.
Woman: That village is a wonderful place. They joked about themselves being very poor, but they welcomed me with open arms.
Yngwie: Your warm, loving personality won them over. I'm sure you'll find happiness there.
Woman: Yngwie, what do you think of settling down with me there?
Yngwie: About that...
Yngwie: This was all I could get for now, but I'll be back after this mission to remember you again.
Yngwie piles a bunch of rocks atop each other to resemble a grave site, placing the flower from Lukav earlier as an offering.
Yngwie: Erika's bold facial features remind me so much of you.
Yngwie: I'm sure her incredible thoughtfulness and the respect she commands from everyone also comes from you.
Yngwie: I'm sorry I failed to protect you. How I wish I could have met you again after all these years.
Yngwie: I might be an old man now, but I promise to keep Erika safe—whatever that takes.
Yngwie gazes at the sky, a wistful expression on his face. His heart filled with resolve, he leaves the grassy plain.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 2: Operation - Episode 3

Before starting the assault on the floating fortress, Lukav urges the president through loudspeaker to capitulate. However, the president asserts that he and his cabinet have always been in the right, and refuses to give in. With negotiations breaking down, the invasion begins.

A number of airships surround the floating fortress while maintaining a safe distance.
Lukav: I am Lukav of Rie Famille. I have a message for your president.
Lukav's words echo across the skies via a bullhorn.
Lukav: We've captured Roanne. No—rather, we've taken it back from you, marking a huge step towards the peace and prosperity of the nation.
Lukav: As nothing more than vestiges of the past, you will soon fade into obscurity. But having you buzz over our heads can be a bit unpleasant.
Lukav: You have zero chance of victory. Surrender at once!
President Jerome: My goodness!
President Jerome: Wh-what do you suggest we do, Anderson?
Anderson: Despite them already having won parliament, the fact that they're requesting our surrender suggests they're at a loss on how to proceed.
President Jerome: You mean...
Anderson: In other words, capitulating is the last thing we want to do.
Anderson: Categorical refusal to negotiate with their demands would be your best option as president.
Heinrich: I agree wholeheartedly, Mr. President. You'll want to be bold and confident in your response.
President Jerome: Yes... That sounds about right!
Jerome turns around and glares at the opposing ships.
President Jerome: Absolutely not! Under no circumstances will we give in to violence!
Lukav: "Violence," you say? We couldn't be more justified in resisting your tyranny!
Lukav: You are the true perpetrators of violence! When the starving masses go knocking on your doorsteps, your response is to point a gun at them!
President Jerome: We do what we must to maintain law and order! You have no idea what it takes to steer Roanne in the right direction amid its contentious relationship with the federation!
Lukav: "Right direction," my foot! I couldn't tell a better lie if I tried.
Heinrich: We've always done what was best for Roanne. The fact that Roanne stands as a nation to this day is a testament to that, is it not?
President Jerome: Love it! I'm going with that!
President Jerome: We've always done what was best for Roanne; the fact that Roanne stands as a nation to this day is a testament to that.
Lukav: What rubbish! Stop taking credit for the good work of your citizens!
Hearing this dispute from the Grandcypher, Yngwie mutters to himself.
Yngwie: Looks like talking with the president isn't gonna get us anywhere...
As the crew tries to predict how things are going to play out, the altercation between the two continues.
Lukav: So in spite of the situation, you refuse to admit to any wrongdoing... Am I understanding that correctly?
President Jerome: Indeed, you are! Roanne will never be yours!
Before Lukav can respond, Erika steps up to the bullhorn.
Erika: You're so full of crap, you worthless trash!
President Jerome: Aiiee!
Vyrn: Whoa, Miss Adjutant doesn't hold back...
Erika: Countless people have died from your atrocities! Don't think we've forgotten about the Nightmare at Rire!
President Jerome: R-Rire Village...
Erika: You damn government officials only care about saving yourselves... at the expense of everyone else...
Yngwie: ...
Lukav: Step back, Erika.
Lukav: Mr. President, this discussion is over. I was hoping you'd surrender, but you've made it clear that's not going to happen.
Lukav: Well, Erika?
Erika: Preparations are complete, Luka. Let's end this.
Having foresaw that negotiations would break down, Rie Famille's airships proceed to launch their cruisers.
Lukav: We're going to take the fortress and capture you by means of military force!

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 2: Operation - Episode 4

Getting past the fortress's cannons proves to be an extremely challenging feat, but (Captain) and company manage. At the gate to greet them is General Anderson, an old friend of Yngwie's. The two once came to the fortress together twenty years ago.

Rie Famille's airships launch a few dozen cruisers toward the floating fortress.
President Jerome: How futile... Take them down!
The fortress's beam turns most of the cruisers into ash.
President Jerome: Ah... Haha! We did it!
Heinrich: Splendid work, Mr. President.
President Jerome: Mm... Where's Anderson?
Heinrich: He apparently had some business to take care of.
President Jerome: Huh? At a time like this?
Heinrich: Have no fear. I may be a financial adviser, but I do have some experience in military command.
President Jerome: Hm...
Lyria: Wh-what awful power...
Vyrn: Wow, they don't call it Astral ruins for nothin'... Still though!
Yngwie: It's a good thing those cruisers that went first were dummies. Zero casualties. Nice one, Lukav.
The laser beams stop short of the manned cruisers on standby behind the first wave.
Erika: Luka! You were right!
Lukav: Lasers that powerful couldn't possibly fire indefinitely. They'll need time to recharge.
Lukav: This is our chance. All units, move in!
The cruisers of Rie Famille speed up toward the fortress.
However...
Heinrich: How careless.
The giant fortress cannons light up, firing off a second volley of lasers.
Erika: Oh no... Get away!
Famille Soldier 1: Tch... We're done for... Commander Lukav, the rest is up to you.
The pieces of the struck cruiser scatter in all directions, leaving behind trails of smoke.
Lukav: Rgh! We've been baited!
Yngwie: Looks like they figured out our plan. They intentionally stopped the first volley of beams early, making themselves look vulnerable.
Vyrn: Crud... I don't like where those cannons are pointed at!
The fortress's cannons are directed straight at Lukav's ship, seemingly ready to fire.
  1. Now!
  2. Eugen!

Choose: Now!
Choose: Eugen!
Eugen: On it!
The Grandcypher lets loose a barrage of cannon fire, colliding with the laser beam right before it connects.
Fortunately, a ship comes out of the resulting explosion and black smoke.
Vyrn: Phew! They're okay!
Erika: Cough... That's some intense heat, but we're... saved?
Lukav: Brilliant timing! We can't let this chance go to waste! Forward!
Eugen: Hahah! We canceled out that laser!
Eugen: Rie Famille lent us this baby, and boy does it work like a charm!
Eugen pats the cannon borrowed from Rie Famille.
Eugen: Rackam! We're following them!
Rackam: Yep! On it!
The Grandcypher picks up speed, following behind Lukav's ship. But the enemy responds faster.
President Jerome: Take aim! Don't miss this time!
Lukav: Tch! Here comes the next laser!
Erika: We're almost there too!
Vyrn: Crud! Eugen, hope you're ready to fire off another round!
Eugen: Not possible! This thing needs time to reload!
Vyrn: Cripes!
Lyria: What do we do! At this rate, they're—
Yngwie: Full Metal Transformation!
Yngwie's shield changes form and wraps around his body.
Yngwie: Not on my watch.
President Jerome: Fire! Fire away!
Yngwie: Full Metal Cannon!
Yngwie's own laser clashes with that of the fortress's.
Erika: Eep!
Lukav: Get down, Erika!
Erika: Wh-what was that just now?
Lukav: They saved us again. Except it wasn't our cannon that did the work this time...
Erika: ...
Lukav: Ready, everyone? We're moving in!
Erika: O-okay!
Rackam: Okay, we're close enough! The lasers won't fire at us here!
Eugen: Not exactly the smoothest landing, but we made it! Let's sock it to 'em!
Vyrn: Now we're talkin'! You good to go, (Captain)?
  1. Let's sock it to 'em!
  2. Let's be careful.

Choose: Let's sock it to 'em!
Vyrn: Heh! Yep, you're ready!

Choose: Let's be careful.
Lyria: Yeah, it pays to be cautious! I'll be right behind you!
Continue 1
Rackam: Once I drop you guys off, I'm goin' back up there to be a diversion for the lasers.
Eugen: Careful out there! You'd better not get hit!
Rackam: Hah! Not in a million years! You guys keep your eyes peeled too!
The crew remain vigilant as they make landfall, yet their surroundings are surprisingly quiet.
Yngwie: Hm...
Lyria: Ah... It's Lukav and everyone else!
Lukav: Glad to see you're safe. Really appreciate the support earlier.
Vyrn: Sure... It's just a shame we lost some ships along the way...
Erika: Hey, don't be so hard on yourselves... Some sacrifices were inevitable. We take full responsibility for any losses.
Lukav: This is no time to get emotional. If we fall here, their deaths will be in vain.
Erika: Yeah... I know what you mean, Luka...
Vyrn: It's awfully quiet there though, don'tcha think?
Lukav: The government doesn't have too many troops left. Certainly not enough to place across the entire perimeter of the fortress.
Eugen: Just don't let your guard down. This situation seems ripe for an ambush.
???: You guessed right!
Yngwie: ...!
Erika: Eek!
The man jumps in with a powerful blow, but Yngwie parries it just in time with his shield.
Lyria: Erika! Are you okay?
Erika: I'm fine! But what—
Anderson: ...
Lukav: It's him!
Yngwie: I see you haven't lost your edge. Haven't felt this thrill in ages. Sure brings back memories.
The stalwart man takes a fighting stance with his giant halberd, glaring at Yngwie with an expression that is equal parts angry and amused.
Anderson: Yngy, you've come!
Yngwie: Good to see you too, Andy!
Vyrn: What the...
Lyria: Look! His shield...
Eugen: That thing might as well be a replica of Yngwie's...
Vyrn: Yngwie! Who is this guy?
Yngwie: Just an old friend. We traveled together at one point. Name's Anderson.
Erika: You two know each other?
Vyrn: So he's that general—supposedly the toughest warrior in Roanne!
Yngwie: Made your way up the ranks, eh? No surprise there though. You had it in you.
Anderson: How long has it been, Yngy... I still remember the time we explored this fortress together.
Yngwie: Twenty years ago, to be precise. This place hasn't changed a bit.
Anderson: What's changed is our older selves. But you didn't come back here to relive old memories, did you, Yngy?
Yngwie: Don't you know it... You'll let us pass through then? We can share a drink later.
Anderson: Heh, don't count on it.
Lukav: Yngwie, I don't know how you two know each other, but don't even bother trying to win him over! You won't find a more stubborn man in the entire country!
Anderson: He's right, you know. I'm here to protect the president, not to wax nostalgic.
Yngwie: Yep, no surprise again. You're definitely the Anderson I know.
Anderson: How about I offer a friendly suggestion? Don't get involved. This is a civil dispute best resolved internally. There's countless other requests you could take on instead.
Yngwie: Sorry—no can do. Knowing me, Andy, I'm sure you can figure out why.
Anderson: It's a woman, isn't it?
Yngwie: Bingo. I'm doing this job for her, and I'm not leaving till it's done.
Erika: ...
Anderson: Sounds like you're the one who hasn't changed a bit. Not planning on reviving the Debonair Daredevils, are ya?
Yngwie: Nah, that's all in the past. Besides, I'm pretty fond of my current crew. Found someone really promising.
Anderson: Heh... Never would've thought our captain would find someone worthy of such praise in the younger generation.
Eugen: ...!
(Captain), watch out! They're here in droves!
(Captain), too, notices the presence of the enemy troops, who have come out of hiding.
Roanne Soldier 2: Charge, everyone! Back up the general!
Roanne Soldiers: Raaaah!
The Roanne troops beeline toward (Captain) and company.
Erika: Battle formation! Prepare to intercept!
Famille Soldier 2: Hraaah!
Eugen: Suck on this!
Roanne Soldier 2: Not good enough!
Eugen: Whoa!
Yngwie quietly observes the situation.
Yngwie: You've done a great job training the army. I can tell just from watching their movements.
Anderson: They were willing to follow me, of all people. So I taught 'em everything I know.
Yngwie: Hasn't been easy, has it... What happened in this country?
Anderson: If you wanna know that bad, you're gonna have to beat it out of me!
Yngwie: Hard-ass!
Sparks fly as their shields clash, shaking their very surroundings.
The sound of their rumble spreads across the entire fortress, signaling something ominous.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 3: Taboo - Episode 1

Both sides appear to be evenly matched, resulting in a stalemate. Lukav charges in alone to capture the president, leaving command of the Rie Famille forces to Erika.

A full-scale skirmish erupts between Rie Famille and the government forces before the gates of the floating fortress.
But as intense as things get, Yngwie and Anderson are in a world of their own.
Anderson: You've grown weak, Yngwie! A result of being perpetually smitten with the ladies, perhaps?
Yngwie: Don't be dumb. I've always taken my women seriously. Nothing better than to be smitten with one, in fact.
Anderson: You're one to talk!
Yngwie: Rgh!
Erika: ...!
Yngwie motions for the nearby Erika to stay put.
Yngwie: Erika, don't get any closer.
Erika: Are you sure? General Anderson isn't someone you should fight alone!
Yngwie: Relax, mon amour. We've traded blows plenty of times. I was just wallowing in nostalgia.
Anderson: Hah, we even fought while completely sloshed! But don't think this is going to go the same way!
Yngwie: You can say that again!
Anderson: Gwaah...
Yngwie: Back in the Debonair Daredevils, I always held back on you.
Anderson: Okay... I'll admit I'd forgotten how strong you are.
Anderson: What a shame though... I won't ask you to defect, but would you at least consider staying your hand?
Anderson: Surely there's no need to spoil our reunion by fighting over a woman.
Yngwie: You still don't get it, do you, Andy?
Yngwie: Ten years ago, my involvement in the Roanne conflict was already decided.
Yngwie: What's more... I'm not here for the mission. I'm here to fight my battle.
Erika: ...!
Yngwie: This is the end point of my journey. And I couldn't be happier to have an old friend join me for the finale.
Anderson: Ten years ago? What happened back then?
Yngwie: It was around that time that I failed to keep a promise with my daughter.
Yngwie: To put it another way, this is how a complete bozo of a father sets things right and keeps his promise after a decade!
Erika: Yngwie!
Anderson: Didn't know you had a daughter, Yngy! That's news to me!
Anderson: Looks like we each have our own reasons for being here then. Just know that as general of the Roanne government, I won't be holding back!
Yngwie: That's more like it!
The two men clash with great ferocity once more.
Lukav: Erika! This way!
Erika: Huh... What is it?
Lukav: We're getting nowhere with this stalemate.
Lukav: I'm going in alone to capture the president. You take command here in the meantime.
Erika: That's too risky!
Lukav: I can get past everyone only if I go in solo.
Lukav: If the enemy gives chase, that means they'll have their backs turned. Don't miss that opportunity.
Erika: But then you'll be wide open! That's reckless!
Lukav: I know—it's exactly why I have to do it.
Lukav: We've already lost too many men... I need this to end.
Erika: That's...
Erika: Okay then. We'll clear a path for you.
Lukav: Appreciate it. You guys stay safe too. Retreat if you have to.
The government forces are quick to respond to Lukav making a run into the fortress.
Roanne Soldier 2: It's Lukav, leader of the traitorous rebels! Finish him off!
Erika: Give him cover fire! Now!
Famille Soldier 2: Waaargh! Defend Commander Lukav!
Roanne Soldier 2: Tch! Can't go after him like this!
Anderson: Lukav got in and is going after the president? No—
Yngwie: Hey, where do you think you're going?
Anderson: Move it, Yngwie! I'm through with you!
Yngwie: Us old-timers shouldn't be trampling on the hopes and dreams of the younger generation. You're better basking in the sun out here with me.
Yngwie: Maybe we can go to a sauna after this. I know a great place. Mm, just talking about it brings back memories.
Anderson: Enough talk!

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 3: Taboo - Episode 2

Anderson explains that he lost his family due to the federation's unjust treatment of Roanne. He has seen the government corruption firsthand but fights to defend it nonetheless. When the two tumble into the fortress amid their tussle, (Captain) and others rush in to help Lukav.

Rackam: Good, the cannons have stopped moving. Means they have their hands full at the fortress.
Rackam: Stay safe, (Captain)...
The Grandcypher continues circling the fortress, ready to assist should anything come up.
Rackam: There's something about that airship... Doesn't seem to be government issue.
One airship in particular at the base of the fortress stands out to Rackam.
Rackam: Nuh-uh, it doesn't have the characteristics of the typical Roanne airship... Is there a third party at play here?
Anderson: Hrgh!
Yngwie: Haah!
After repeatedly clashing against Yngwie, Anderson is forced to his knees.
Roanne Soldier 2: H-he overpowered the general!
Anderson: Humph... Not bad, Yngy.
Anderson: But don't think you've won yet! I won't let you take Roanne!
Yngwie: Andy... what happened to your family? Isn't this where you put down your roots?
Anderson: ...
Yngwie: It's why you left us at the time. And then you rose to the rank of general, despite being an outsider...
Yngwie: You're not the type to stick by a corrupt government. There's only one reason why you'd—
Anderson: You're wrong! And do not insult my family!
Yngwie: Sorry, didn't mean it that way. Still though...
Anderson: My wife died six years ago... She got caught in a terrible storm and was injured.
Anderson: She could have been saved with proper treatment. Problem is, the nation's doctors and healers were all sent off to other islands.
Yngwie: How come?
Anderson: Orders of the federation. The storm reached the other islands first.
Anderson: By federation policy, since Roanne was yet unharmed, we had to accommodate by way of healthcare personnel...
Yngwie: That's no reason to send over all your doctors, especially with an incoming storm...
Anderson: That's the problem with this country—it's considered ripe for the plucking...
Yngwie: Mm... Did you have any children?
Anderson: Two years after that... A group of fresh recruits were returning from a military drill on a deserted island. The federation shot down their ship.
Anderson: My son was on that ship. He was a good kid—took everything seriously.
Yngwie: Wha...
Anderson: Gunned down without even so much as a warning shot, sending them plummeting to the depths of the sky...
Anderson: The federation claims the ship was encroaching on their airspace, but witnesses in neighboring islands insisted the incident happened in Roanne airspace.
Yngwie: That's pretty messed up...
Anderson: And I learned this later, but...
Anderson: Rumors had supposedly reached the federation that Roanne, being fed up with its political status, was getting ready to stage a rebellion.
Anderson: And that Roanne was cooperating with the anti-government resistance Rie Famille.
Yngwie: ...!
Anderson: The federation crewman who fired the blast may have simply been spurred on by paranoia, or perhaps it was meant as a warning shot.
Anderson: But the fact that word of Rie Famille had gotten outside the country and led to the sinking of that ship is an irrefutable fact.
Yngwie: What a mess...
Yngwie: Aren't you just acting on a grudge though? I mean, Rie Famille isn't entirely wrong in its criticisms of the government.
Anderson: Tsk...
Anderson: Don't you think I know that!
Yngwie: ...!
Caught off guard, Yngwie finds himself tackled against the outer wall of the fortress.
The impact causes the wall to come apart, and the two fall into the resulting crevice.
Eugen: Holy smokes! These old-timers definitely aren't lacking for strength!
Erika: The general's fallen in there too!
  1. Calm down.
  2. I'm worried about Lukav.

Choose: Calm down.
Erika: You're right, (Captain)... This is precisely the time we have to keep our cool.
Erika: Thanks... I'm just really worried about Luka... Still though, I have to keep my composure as adjutant...

Choose: I'm worried about Lukav.
Erika: Same... What do we do though? We can't afford to lose him.
Continue 1
The troops personally trained by Anderson prove to be quite the challenge for (Captain) and company.
Eugen: You guys go in! I'll handle things here!
Vyrn: Eugen?
Eugen: Capturing the president's the priority! So go give Lukav a hand with that!
Eugen: Things are a lot simpler here with the old-timers outta the picture!
Eugen: Not that I ain't an old-timer myself, mind you!
Famille Soldier 2: Adjutant Erika, please go! We'll create an opening for you! Commander Lukav could use the help!
Erika: Okay! But you guys fall back if you need to!
Lyria: (Captain), let's go in with Erika!
Eugen: I'm countin' on ya, (Captain)!
Vyrn: You watch yourself too, Eugen!
Taking advantage of the changed situation, (Captain) and company run inside to find Lukav.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 3: Taboo - Episode 3

In the fortress's control room, Heinrich urges the president to activate the forbidden primal beast Socialis. Though the commander in chief is hesitant to take such drastic action, the financial adviser continues to pressure him, asserting that the federation won't come to their aid.

As the sounds of military engagement reach the control room, the president trembles in fear while gasping for breath.
President Jerome: Wh-what's happening out there? Are we winning?
Roanne Minister 1: Isn't it obvious? There's no way our military could lose to those common riffraff.
Roanne Minister 2: Plus Anderson's the one taking charge. Yes, he can be a bit of a square, but there's no one more reliable in a fight. His reputation as the nation's strongest is no fluke.
Roanne Minister 3: Look at how much time has passed since the battle began though... Could they be struggling?
President Jerome: Oh no...
Heinrich: Perhaps we should awaken Socialis.
President Jerome: What in the...
President Jerome and the ministers are aghast at the suggestion.
President Jerome: Do you have any idea what you're saying! The very subject of that primal beast is taboo!
Roanne Minister 2: What of the key to awakening that abandoned Astral weapon?
Heinrich: It's said to be passed down from one commander in chief to the next.
All eyes turn to President Jerome.
President Jerome: D-don't look at me like that!
Roanne Minister 1: Let's not get too carried away. The situation's not so bad as to call on Socialis just yet.
Heinrich: You would still say that, given our current situation—being cornered into this little room?
Heinrich: General Anderson said the federation will send reinforcements in due time, but I'm going to call nonsense on that.
President Jerome: Huh?
Roanne Minister 1: Don't jinx it. What good is the federation for if they're going to refuse us help when we need it most?
Roanne Minister 2: Exactly, Heinrich. You're just the financial adviser—stay in your arena.
Heinrich: Rather than assisting us, the federation has so much more to gain by siding with whoever's in charge of the new government.
Roanne Minister 2: What do you mean? Care to enlighten us?
Heinrich: Okay, this prediction is going to be based entirely on the premise that Rie Famille wins and establishes a new government.
Heinrich: I'm simply putting myself in the shoes of the federation heads and considering what makes the most sense.
Heinrich: They'll want to cozy up to the new government, promising peace and equality... To sweeten the deal, they'll even throw in a bit of "honey."
President Jerome: A bit of honey?
Heinrich: And because it's so little in quantity, that honey will be shared among a few elite.
Heinrich: After all the trouble they went through to establish this new government, the elite will be thinking they're fully deserving of the reward.
Heinrich: It'll give them the perfect excuse—that they have no choice but to keep the honey among the elite because it's so sparse.
Heinrich: Once the new government starts thinking that way, they'll already be federation puppets before they know it.
Heinrich: They'll crave more honey, willing to do anything to get more of it.
Heinrich: Just like us.
Roanne Ministers: ...
President Jerome: ...
As the president and ministers turn silent, Heinrich grows more impassioned in his speech.
Heinrich: No matter how useless someone is, they become incapable of acknowledging it the moment they receive accolades.
Heinrich: Because by that point, they end up thinking the world of themselves and that they are deserving of whatever rewards are on offer!
Heinrich: Because a reward serves as proof of one's value! A slew of bungling half-wits will end up being in charge.
Heinrich: In order for them to hide their incompetence and keep their positions, these half-wits will resort to doing anything!
President Jerome: Bungling half-wits...
Heinrich: Of course, that doesn't apply to us! We're all aware of the incredible leadership we've shown thus far!
Roanne Minister 2: Indeed, truer words have never been spoken.
Heinrich: However!
President Jerome: ...!
Heinrich: Rie Famille is a gathering of the poor! They understand neither government nor economy! You can't get more incompetent than them!
Heinrich: They may act on hopes and ideals now, but imagine how quickly that'll change once they get a sweet taste of honey!
Roanne Minister 2: Exactly! They'll cast aside their convictions in order to do the federation's bidding!
Roanne Minister 3: From the federation's point of view, they would be incredibly easy to manipulate... An absolute bargain compared to dealing with us!
Roanne Minister 1: We all know how crafty the federation can be... There's no doubt they'd reach the same conclusion!
Roanne Minister 1: In other words, the federation—
Heinrich: Won't be coming!
President Jerome: My goodness... H-how can this be...
Roanne Minister 1: Mr. President... I've reconsidered my stance.
Roanne Minister 2: As have I... We are rats in a corner! Things couldn't be more desperate!
Roanne Minister 3: Help won't come from anywhere! We've been abandoned!
Heinrich: Yes, as I've been saying all along! And what is the one option available to us in such circumstances?
Roanne Ministers: Socialis!
The ministers hold out a glimmer of hope even as their faces turn pale.
President Jerome: You can't be serious! That thing nearly wiped out every island in the federation!
President Jerome: Don't tell me you've forgotten why we're ranked lowest among the seven islands despite being in possession of that thing!
President Jerome: It's because the federation decided that it isn't something meant to be wielded by skydwellers! And I must say they're right!
Heinrich: Indeed, there's no denying that Socialis is dangerous. The federation's looked down on us for that.
President Jerome: We must not repeat the nightmare from 500 years ago!
Heinrich: But consider what happens if we don't go down this path. Rie Famille will torture, then execute us in the name of revenge.
Heinrich: That includes you, and the first lady...
President Jerome: Caroline...
Caroline: "Gee, where are we?"
Caroline: Teehee, who knows? Let's explore this place together!
Caroline's felicity is apparent in her interaction with the rabbit plushie.
Heinrich: With our execution comes the complete subjugation of the new Roanne.
Heinrich: We have no other option. Mr. President. I trust you will make the right decision, for the sake of our nation!
President Jerome: Mm...

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 3: Taboo - Episode 4

Anderson comments that it is impossible to change Roanne's status in the eyes of the federation and that he cannot find it in himself to betray President Jerome, who has worked tirelessly in diplomatic affairs to keep the nation afloat. Just then, the forbidden primal beast Socialis appears before them.

Yngwie: Rgh!
Anderson: How 'bout that, Yngwie?
Yngwie: Oof... You've still got it in you, all right...
Anderson: Well then...
Anderson: Seems like I've lost this one...
Anderson had gone all out, intent on taking the win. But seeing that his best was not enough, he falls to his knees.
Anderson: I can hardly stand up straight... That might've been too much action for my aging body.
Yngwie: Wish I could've gone all out too, but I was already half-spent using my full metal transformation back on the ship... Need more time to recover.
Anderson: You might as well still be in your prime...
Yngwie: Tell me something. Why serve this country?
Anderson: I know it's rotting from within, but I cannot turn my back against the president.
Yngwie: Even though you've lost your wife and child?
Anderson: The people of the nation wept for me when they learned of my tragedy.
Anderson: Word of my indignation had gotten so rampant that my affiliation with the resistance was all but certain.
Anderson: Yet that was never my intention. At the end of it all, Rie Famille's revolt will do nothing to change the nation's political standing.
Anderson: Roanne's status has always been considered an afterthought to the federation, being last among all seven islands and existing only to be exploited.
Anderson: Despite the fact, the president has put in his best efforts in foreign diplomacy, taking great pains to ensure some amount of affluence for the country.
Anderson: Forced to be the federation's puppet, withstanding the citizenry's criticisms, all while taking care of his ill wife...
Anderson: I witnessed all of that with my own two eyes.
Anderson: When I lost my wife and child, the president was the only one who shed tears and personally apologized to me...
Anderson: I understand Roanne's current regime is on its last legs, yet I cannot find it in me to abandon President Jerome.
Yngwie: All right, I hear ya... But did you ever consider convincing the president to unite the nation under a single banner to fight against the federation?
Anderson: I was not the only one who lost family in that cannon blast. It would be wrong to mobilize an entire country out of my own anger.
Yngwie: How straitlaced can you get...
Anderson: Most importantly, Roanne cannot win. It would be quickly crushed by the combined might of the other six nations.
Anderson: The president realizes that and chooses not to do anything rash. He has his own way of doing right by the people.
Yngwie: Okay, so I get how complex things can be when you're running an entire nation.
Yngwie: On the other hand though, the people don't realize that and only criticize what they see as injustice. And they're not necessarily wrong for doing so.
Anderson: Speaking from your experience as a crew captain?
Yngwie: Nope, just speaking in general terms here.
Yngwie: Still though, that doesn't explain why the Nightmare at Rire had to happen. From what I heard, the military dragged away a hundred people—all grown-ups—from their homes.
Anderson: Rire Village, eh—
Their conversation is interrupted.
A laser beam suddenly flits toward them from the ground.
Anderson: Gwaah!
Yngwie: Anderson!
Yngwie makes to check on Anderson, who is sent flying into the distance. However, he stops in his tracks at the ominous sound of heavy footsteps.
Yngwie: Who's there?
Anderson: Ngh...
Yngwie: Anderson, you okay?
Anderson: I'll manage, but what...
Yngwie: Seems we're under attack. Watch out. Something's lurking in the darkness.
The figure emerging from the shadows has a humanoid silhouette, being far larger than most people.
???: ...
Yngwie: The heck? What kinda monster is this?
Anderson: There shouldn't be any monsters on the fortress... We did a pretty thorough search twenty years ago. Doesn't look like this thing flew in from elsewhere either...
Yngwie: We sure did, but then how do you explain that?
Anderson: No, it can't be... Socialis?
Anderson: I've heard about a primal beast left behind by the Astrals in this place, but its activation was forbidden...
Yngwie: So that's the rumored "anomalous weapon," huh... Maybe it woke up from all the ruckus?
Anderson: Word has it that only the commander in chief can activate it...
Yngwie: Just goes to show what your president does when backed into a corner.
Anderson: Mr. President...
Socialis: ...!
Yngwie: Something seems fishy though. Why activate Socialis here of all places? It's almost as if...
Anderson: What do you mean?
Yngwie: Scratch that. We've gotta take care of this thing first.
Yngwie: I can't get a good read on its face from here, but I can tell from its movement that it's itching for battle. Andy, you stay rested.
Anderson: You plan to take on the primal beast alone? That's reckless!
Yngwie: Have you forgotten the name of our crew? This is nothing new for me.
Yngwie: My body might have aged, but I'm still the same stone-cold tough guy inside.
Yngwie: Once a Debonair Daredevil, always a Debonair Daredevil!

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 4: Socialis - Episode 1

Shortly before Yngwie and Anderson's encounter with Socialis, Lukav shows up in the control room as an acquaintance of Heinrich's and threatens the president into activating Socialis. When First Lady Caroline is taken hostage, President Jerome finally obliges.

Shortly before Yngwie and Anderson's encounter with Socialis, the president finds himself at a crossroads in the control room.
Heinrich and the ministers surround the commander in chief, urging him to release the seal on Socialis.
Heinrich: There's no time left! Rie Famille could barge in through that door at any moment now!
Roanne Minister 1: You must awaken Socialis! Do not delay, Mr. President!
President Jerome: But unleashing that would be catastrophic...
Roanne Minister 2: What are you waiting for! Do you want us to die? Who cares about rules and regulations at a time like this!
Caroline: "Everyone has such a scary face on..."
Caroline: There, there, Mommy's going to protect you! Everything will be just fine.
Amid the nervous tension, Caroline's chatter with her stuffed rabbit falls on deaf ears.
It is then that the door opens.
Lukav: Found you.
Heinrich: ...!
Roanne Minister 1: Urk... Rie Famille?
Lukav: Yes. I'm Lukav, supreme commander of Rie Famille.
Roanne Minister 2: So this man is Lukav...
Roanne Minister 3: Look at what your inaction has led to!
President Jerome: ...
Heinrich: Mr. President, there's still time. I can draw his attention while you activate Socialis.
President Jerome: No, Heinrich. That's not going to happen. I've already made my decision.
Heinrich: Mr. President, you can't be serious!
Lukav draws his sword, pointing its tip at the government leaders.
Lukav: What are you mumbling about over there? Is it awakened yet?
Heinrich: No. The president continues to hold onto his conscience.
Lukav: How complacent.
Heinrich: My apologies. Even I didn't expect him to be this stubborn.
President Jerome: ...?
Lukav: Mr. President...
Lukav approaches and holds his blade to the first lady's neck.
Caroline: ...?
President Jerome: Caroline!
Lukav: Where's the key?
President Jerome: Wh-what key?
Lukav: The key to awaken Socialis.
President Jerome: How... How is it that you know about Socialis?
Lukav: I want answers. Respond to my question with another question, and someone's going to bleed.
Lukav: Mr. President, you have the key, don't you? In fact, I'd wager it's never left your side.
President Jerome: What in the world could Rie Famille possibly want with Socialis—
With one arm still on his sword, Lukav flicks his other wrist.
Roanne Minister 1: Ngh...
The minister falls with barely a whimper, an entrenched knife glistening from his chest.
President Jerome: Aiiee!
Lukav: Like I said, I'm the one asking questions here. I'll be nice and make sure your wife goes last.
Caroline: "Eeeeek! Nooooo! This is soooo scary!"
Lukav: Behave yourself.
Lukav tugs on the first lady's hair as he presses his blade right against her neck.
Caroline: Sniff...
President Jerome: Caroline!
Lukav: Where is the key to Socialis?
President Jerome: Do you have any idea what you're asking? Socialis is a terrifying weapon that is beyond skydwellers' control...
President Jerome: I don't know what you're plotting, but that thing must never be—
Lukav flicks his wrist once more. Two ministers fall victim this time.
Roanne Minister 2: Hrgh...
Roanne Minister 3: ...!
Lukav: I'm all out of knives. Don't make me use my sword next.
Seeing the sword pressing against his wife's neck, the president is rendered speechless.
Heinrich: Mr. President, Lukav is serious. You'd best make your decision fast.
President Jerome: Heinrich, h-how could you...
Heinrich: Where's the key? Tell us already.
President Jerome: ...!
Lukav: I'm going to interpret your silence as refusal.
President Jerome: Wait! Okay... You win...
Holding up both hands, President Jerome takes a few careful steps toward Lukav.
Lukav: What are you doing? Do you want me to slit your wife's throat?
President Jerome: No! It's something else I'm after...
The president takes the rabbit plushie from the first lady.
Caroline: Noooo! Not Mr. Bunny!
President Jerome: I'm sorry. I'll give him right back.
President Jerome: Okay, he's back from his little trip. "I'm home," he says.
Caroline: Phew! Welcome home, Mr. Bunny! Ahahaha!
Lukav: How pitiful.
President Jerome: ...
Heinrich: To think that the first lady held it all along... The perfect blind spot.
A spherical object rests in the president's palm.
Lukav: So that's the key? I hope you know how to use it.
President Jerome: I've been told it goes in there...
The president inserts the object into a pedestal far toward the back of the control room, causing the entire fortress to shake ever so slightly.
Heinrich: I felt something move just now...
Lukav: Given Socialis's massive frame, they must've hid it in the wall somewhere—a wall that just opened up.
President Jerome: How... do you know so much?

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 4: Socialis - Episode 2

Multiple copies of Socialis are running rampant, their larvae finding new hosts to infect upon defeat. When the crew must stop to take one on, they have Erika continue to press forward.

Yngwie: Huff... Huff...
After a grueling battle, Yngwie defeats Socialis. It shows no signs of getting back up.
Yngwie: That's one anomalous weapon down for the count... It was definitely no slouch.
Anderson: Well done, Yngy... Nice to see you've still got your brawns in your old age... Sure didn't expect you to knock Socialis out cold on your own though.
General Anderson slowly picks himself back up, his exhaustion evident.
Yngwie: Now that our little distraction's taken care of... Andy, you ready to throw in the towel?
Yngwie: The president just used up his trump card... and you saw how that turned out.
Anderson: ...
Yngwie: With Roanne's ultimate weapon no more, the government's as good as done for.
Anderson: Wait, Yngy... There's something there, in the darkness where Socialis stood earlier...
Socialis: ...!
Meanwhile, Eugen and Rie Famille are engaging the government forces outside.
Eugen: The heck is that? Another enemy?
Famille Soldier 2: I don't know; I've never seen anything like it! Could be another one of their weapons!
Eugen: Gracious...
Eugen and company are staring at a giant anomaly.
Socialis: ...!
Roanne Soldier 2: Wh-what is this thing! I-it's targeting us! Fight back!
The government forces realize the anomaly is hostile when it begins attacking them.
Eugen: Could that be the secret weapon that slept in the fortress all along? But why's it attacking them?
Socialis: ...!
The giant anomaly brutally slaughters the government soldiers near it.
Roanne Soldier 2: Damn you!
Eugen: I'll help!
Roanne Soldier 2: Huh?
Famille Soldier 2: What the... What do you think you're doing!
Eugen: Get a clue! That monster's tearing apart anything it can lay its hands on—and that includes us!
Eugen: We'll be its next targets if it finishes off all the government soldiers!
Eugen: We stand a better chance of survival if we work with 'em to take the thing down!
Famille Soldier 2: Y-you have a point...
Roanne Soldier 2: Fair enough... A temporary ceasefire between us then!
Eugen: All right! With me, everyone!
Socialis: ...!
Taking the lead, Eugen runs up to the target.
Eugen: Eat this!
Socialis: ...!
Despite being blasted at point-blank range, the anomaly doesn't falter in the least.
Roanne Soldier 2: Crap, didn't even budge... What do we do!
Eugen: There's only one thing to do! We pump it full of lead until it loses balance!
Eugen: Throw everything you've got at it! When it's about to keel over, the close-combat troops can move in!
Famille Soldier 2: Attacking in waves, huh? All right, let's do this!
Eugen: Now!
Rie Famille and the government troops unite under Eugen's command.
Resistance is fierce and sacrifices are plenty, but the creature's giant frame begins to waver.
Eugen: Time to finish this!
Socialis: ...
Famille Soldier 2: Did we do it?
Eugen: I sure hope so...
Roanne Soldier 2: Damn... What the hell was that! We didn't hear a thing about this!
They find themselves surrounded by the corpses of countless troops.
Eugen: What do you say to an armistice?
Roanne Soldier 2: Huh...
Famille Soldier 2: We've lost a lot of men ourselves... This is no time to be fighting. I imagine you have many who feel the same.
Roanne Soldier 2: Rgh...
Eugen: I'm all for it. Seems like the best solution to both our problems—for now at least.
Eugen: I'm here on assignment, but I'm originally a skyfarer from Phantagrande.
Eugen: I wouldn't say I'm standing on neutral ground, but I'm at least willing to mediate for both sides.
Roanne Soldier 2: ...
Too focused on the talk of an armistice, no one notices the thing that comes out of the fallen anomaly.
Socialis Larva: ...
Eugen: What the! Where'd this creepy crawler come from?
The insect-like creature hops onto a soldier's shoulder and makes a home of it.
Famille Soldier 2: Ow! That smarts... Mng! Its claws or something are dug in deep...
Eugen: It stabbed you? The heck is that nasty little thing?
Blood begins gushing out of the soldier's neck.
Famille Soldier 2: Aaaaahhh... Ah... Th-there's something in me...
Famille Soldier 2: Aahhh...
Roanne Soldier 2: What's with him...
Eugen: That insect won't move... Crap, don't tell me it's poisonous!
Famille Soldier 2: ...
With the insect still on the soldier's shoulder, he hunches over. Something especially odd is immediately evident.
Roanne Soldier 2: Maybe I'm just imagining it, but did this guy suddenly just get bigger?
Eugen: This is bad...
Famille Soldier 2: ...!
In the meantime, (Captain) and company are searching for Lukav inside the fortress.
Vyrn: I've lost count of how many flights of stairs we've gone up. Think this is the top floor?
Erika: Sure seems like it. The lower floors were pretty empty, so Luka and the president must be here...
Lyria: Um...
Vyrn: Yeah, Lyria?
Lyria: I sense a primal beast...
Erika: A primal beast? And what do you mean you can sense it!
Having no time to explain things, (Captain) simply remarks that Lyria's instinct is usually on the mark about these things.
Vyrn: We've fought plenty of primals in our travels. Even became friends with a few of 'em.
Erika: Wow... You guys are really something else.
Erika: But when you consider that this is an Astral ruin, maybe the presence of a primal beast isn't so strange...
Vyrn: Which way is it?
Lyria: I'm sensing it... from all over the fortress.
Vyrn: Wait a sec... You mean we've got multiple primal beasts?
  1. Where's the closest one?
  2. We'd better hurry!

Choose: Where's the closest one?
Vyrn: Yeah, let's take 'em on one at a time.
Lyria: Over there!
The crew turns to the direction Lyria points at.
Erika: Huh? But that's—
Lyria: It's right there!

Choose: We'd better hurry!
Erika: Oh, right... That was a bit of a surprise, but we need to keep going!
Lyria: Wait!
Vyrn: Huh?
The crew turns to the direction Lyria points at.
Lyria: The closest primal beast from us is right over there!
Continue 1
Erika: No kidding... I can already hear the footsteps.
(Captain) and Erika step forward, ready to confront whatever emerges.
Socialis: ...
Vyrn: Dang! Is this... a person? He's huge!
Lyria: No, he's a primal beast! I can tell!
Erika: Oh no... Watch out, everyone! This might be the secret weapon the government's held onto all along!
Socialis: ...!
Erika: Rgh!
The giant figure in the shadows lunges at (Captain) and Erika.
Lyria: A-are you okay?
Erika: Yeah! That was easy enough to dodge!
Lyria: I'll try calling out to the primal beast!
Lyria closes her eyes and reaches out to Socialis.
Vyrn: Well, Lyria? How'd it go?
Lyria: It's no good... There's no response, as if it's an empty shell...
Vyrn: Weird.
Erika: Oh boy... We can't exactly slip past something this big either...
  1. I'll draw its attention.
  2. You go on ahead.

Choose: I'll draw its attention.
Choose: You go on ahead.
Erika: Y-you mean you're gonna be the decoy?
Vyrn: I'm worried about Commander Dude! It's best if you go check on him!
Erika: But... will (Captain) be okay alone?
Vyrn: Heheh! Trust me when I say our captain's been through worse!
Lyria: Besides, we're here to back (Captain) up!
Erika: Hm... You guys are really something.
Erika: All right then, I'm moving ahead! Good luck here!

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 4: Socialis - Episode 3

Lukav reveals to Heinrich that he learned of Socialis from his father's archaeological research records. Erika shows up and questions Lukav, but he simply remarks that he's doing this for Roanne. Just as he attempts to kill the president and first lady, the crew turns up, and Erika uses this opportunity to make a quick getaway together.

Eugen: Hey, pull it together! Can you hear me?
Famille Soldier 2: ...!
Roanne Soldier 2: This is no good! He's lost to us!
Eugen: Damn it! I bet that thing multiplies by feedin' off of people!
Lukav and Heinrich stand before a window in the floating fortress's control room, observing the pandemonium ensuing below.
Heinrich: My, my... What a delightfully grotesque scene.
Lukav: We've accomplished our main objective. Now to finish off the president...
Heinrich: No need to rush. There's something I'd like to ask you first.
Heinrich: How and where did you learn about this terrifying weapon?
Lukav: I suppose I can tell you.
Lukav: Mr. President, stay right where you are.
The president and first lady stand frozen in a corner of the room.
Lukav: My father, an archaeologist, wrote about Socialis in his notebook. His research notes were never published anywhere else, so chances are I'm the only one who's read them.
Heinrich: Now that is fascinating...
Heinrich: I only know what's written in the official government records, so I'd love to hear more.
Lukav: Socialis's developmental form—let's call it a larva—is an insectoid roughly twenty centimeters in length. Exterminating it shouldn't be too difficult.
Lukav: But as a parasite, it quickly reaches adult form by finding a skydweller to dig its tentacles into and inducing massive bodily change.
Heinrich: What happens to the host?
Lukav: Unable to withstand the sudden metamorphosis, the host dies. Socialis gains full control over the body.
Heinrich: I don't know if this word can be applied to a primal beast, but what can you tell me about Socialis's ecology?
Lukav: It's extremely predatory, slaughtering anyone in its immediate vicinity. It requires neither respite nor sustenance.
Lukav: As for whether it's capable of communication, I couldn't tell from the research records, but it doesn't seem likely.
Heinrich: I'm inclined to agree... So what is Socialis's motivation in doing anything?
Lukav: Procreation, of course.
Lukav: It self-propagates within the host body at regular intervals, giving birth to more larvae.
Heinrich: More insects, huh... Is Socialis able to go about rampaging as it does because the host is dead?
Lukav: Just as long as the host is recently deceased. The process repeats ad infinitum, with newborn larvae attaching themselves to new skydweller hosts for more slaughter and reproduction.
Heinrich: Okay, I get the gist of it.
Heinrich: As terrifying of a primal beast it may be, Socialis is far too unpredictable for skydwellers to use as a weapon.
Heinrich: Currently it seems drawn to crowds—opportunities for it to carry out its programmed attack pattern.
Heinrich: At the very least, I'd like to have it distinguish between allies and enemies. Do you know of any way to give it commands?
Lukav: That may be possible with the very first Socialis in existence...
Lukav: But even I don't know how to tell which one of them is the original.
Heinrich: Hm, okay then. I suppose we'll just have carry out research based on battle data.
Heinrich: If you recall anything else later, I hope you'll let me know.
Lukav: Of course... We need to work together to get the most out of Socialis.
Erika: ...?
Luka? What's Socialis? And what's this about working together?
Lukav: Erika... How long have you been there?
Heinrich: My... What a delicate situation this has turned into.
Erika: You're Heinrich, the government's financial adviser... What is the meaning of all this?
Erika notices something isn't quite right, with the president and first lady cowering in the corner while Heinrich and Lukav speak openly.
Lukav: ...
Erika: Answer me, Luka! Don't leave me hanging!
Lukav: Everything I've done is for Roanne.
Erika: For Roanne... Isn't that why we're overthrowing the government? Yet here you are colluding with one of their top members!
Lukav: I don't have time to explain... Taking care of those rats trying to escape comes first.
Without a moment's hesitation, Lukav draws his sword and runs over to the president.
Erika: Wha?
President Jerome: Aaugh!
Caroline: Eeeeeep!
Interrupted by Erika, Lukav is only able to cut the president's shoulder.
Erika: Luka! What are you doing?
Lukav: That's my question. Why do you defend our enemy? Move, Erika.
Erika: What do you mean? "Don't shoot someone unarmed" is one of Rie Famille's tenets...
Erika: So many innocents died during the Nightmare at Rire that we swore to take opposite stance!
Heinrich: Sigh... What a bother. This is one nuisance I wasn't expecting. No matter, just another person to decimate.
Lukav: Hold it! I'll persuade her!
Erika: Luka! Why are you working with him?
Vyrn's Voice: Hey, I hear voices comin' from in here!
Lyria: Erika! Are you okay?
Lukav: (Captain), eh...
Heinrich: Ugh, more trouble...
Vyrn: What the... Who's that guy with Commander Dude? What's happenin' here!
Erika: I'm sorry... I don't know either...
Erika: For now, just worry about getting the president out of here!
Erika whips out a smoke bomb from the folds of her jacket and tosses it at Lukav.
Erika: Now, everyone! Run!
Erika takes charge of evacuating the president and first lady out of the smoke-filled room.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 4: Socialis - Episode 4

(Captain) and company find shelter in a closed-off room, where the president tearfully relates that his newborn son disappeared one day only to be later discovered dead in an abandoned hut in Rire Village. In his anger, he imprisoned the village's residents—an incident that came to be known as the Nightmare at Rire—but the culprit was never found. Wanting to keep President Jerome in power, the federation helped him cover it up.

Carrying the injured president, (Captain) and company find a room to hide in down the hallway.
President Jerome: Ngh...
Lyria: Please hang in there!
Caroline: Blood... There's sooo much blood!
Erika: Let me take a look.
President Jerome: Ngh...
Erika: I'm going to apply first aid. There's no anesthetics, so you'll have to bear the pain.
Erika tends to the president's wound, her movements looking very practiced.
President Jerome: Huff... Huff... You're pretty good at this...
Erika: In our battles against you, I've had to do this so many times for injured comrades.
President Jerome: ...
Erika: Okay, the bleeding's stopped. That should do it for now.
Caroline: "Impressive work, miss!"
Caroline: That's for sure. Maybe we can ask her to look at you too if you ever get hurt, Mr. Bunny!
Caroline: "Me? Get hurt? Not gonna happen! I'm built really strong, you see!"
Vyrn: What the...
President Jerome: Thank you... You saved my life.
Erika: I didn't do this for your gratitude...
Erika: What's with your wife though? This might be the first time I've ever seen her...
President Jerome: She underwent infantile regression after a certain incident ten years ago... Ever since then, she's only spoken to the rabbit.
Erika: Ten years ago?
President Jerome: Yes... The Nightmare at Rire.
Erika: ...!
President Jerome: Your voice... It's the same voice I heard coming from the ship... You're from Rire Village as well?
President Jerome: I suppose this is a good opportunity to let you know what happened that day.
Erika: Why... Why did you round up all the grown-ups only to kill them! Finally ready to confess, huh?
Erika: Depending on your answer, I might have to render judgment on you right now!
President Jerome: I don't mind... I'm ready to lay it all bare. For starters, however, the truth behind the incident that led to the Nightmare at Rire remains a mystery to this day...
Erika: What do you mean?
President Jerome: My sins won't disappear, nor am I asking for forgiveness. I just want you to know what happened.
President Jerome: It was just days before the big incident that shook Roanne...
President Jerome: Our newborn baby had disappeared without a trace.
President Jerome: We were at parliament... I don't usually go out there, but I had a number of tasks to take care of that day.
President Jerome: Someone must have been keeping a very close eye on me the entire time, because it was only a matter of seconds that I'd turned away from my child.
President Jerome: My wife and I did everything we could to find him...
President Jerome: When our son finally turned up, he had already died from starvation in a little hut at Rire Village.
Erika: That's awful...
President Jerome: From the shock of having lost her beloved newborn, Caroline's mind regressed to that of a child. Communicating with her became a challenge...
President Jerome: I, however, in my blind rage, ordered the military to lock up all the adults of Rire Village and have them die in prison.
Erika: So that's... why...
Erika: Did you ever find the culprit? Was it someone from the village?
President Jerome: No... The kidnapper's identity remained unknown even after the last grown-up from Rire died.
Erika: Then, you mean...
President Jerome: Yes... It wasn't long before I recovered my sanity...
President Jerome: I essentially had the people of Rire slaughtered over a crime they likely had no involvement in. The very thought terrified me...
President Jerome: I had intended to go public about this. I would offer my sincerest condolences and resign, accepting whatever consequences awaited...
President Jerome: But those around me and the federation covered up the incident, announcing that my son had died of sickness.
President Jerome: Seeing as the dead couldn't possibly say otherwise, my superiors justified my persecution of Rire Village by claiming that there was suspicion of treason.
Erika: But why!
President Jerome: They decided things would be far more convenient for them if I remained president.
President Jerome: I had already accepted bribery previously, and with this cover-up constantly looming over me, Roanne would become the perfect puppet for the federation...
Erika: But if you had just come out and told everyone the truth—
President Jerome: Once you get a sweet taste of honey, you grow accustomed to it... You become afraid of losing everything.
President Jerome: I eventually decided to go along with the cover-up, keeping my position as president intact.
President Jerome: My weakness of resolve and prideful nature that manifests at the smallest hint of praise led to this outcome...
President Jerome: Sorry... I realize apologizing does nothing at this point, but I offer my condolences nonetheless.
Having released a tremendous weight from his shoulders, the president quietly sheds tears.
Erika: How awful... Our parents died for nothing! They were innocent...
Lyria: Erika...
Erika: I appreciate you telling me the truth behind the matter. Part of me pities you...
Erika: But the fact remains that you took so many innocent lives. I don't think I can find it in myself to forgive you.
President Jerome: That's fine... I'm definitely not one of the good guys. Thanks for hearing me out anyway.
The sound of approaching footsteps signals the end of this brief respite for the crew.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 5: Truth - Episode 1

Lukav and Heinrich enter the room where the crew is hiding. Lukav joined hands with Heinrich in order to activate Socialis as a weapon against the federation, while Heinrich—known as the Merchant of Death—agreed to the deal for a sample of Socialis to bring into the black market. Just then, another Socialis clone emerges.

President Jerome: Huff... Huff... Leave me here. But take my wife with you, please?
Caroline: Hey, no fair! How come you're the only one who gets to hide from the boogeyman? I wanna hide with you!
Caroline: "Behind the curtain's way too obvious! Try getting under the bed instead!"
Erika: It's fine... Just keep your voices low, and we should go unnoticed.
Vyrn: Hey... You sure you don't wanna talk things out with Commander Dude?
Erika: I know I should, but... Just give me a second... I'm so confused, I don't even know what to think right now...
President Jerome: Looks like my financial adviser and your leader were in cahoots the entire time...
President Jerome: I'm ashamed that I never suspected a thing... Their objective seems to be Socialis...
Erika: About that! Socialis is what you call that giant monster, right?
President Jerome: Yes... It was the primal beast slumbering in the fortress. And I held the key.
President Jerome: It reproduces by parasitizing people. A most gruesome primal beast...
President Jerome: The two must have planned on cornering me into activating Socialis...
Erika: I didn't know anything about it, especially not the part about him being in contact with Heinrich...
President Jerome: But isn't this what you've wanted all along? To see the government overthrown?
Erika: Don't be ridiculous! Letting loose such a dangerously violent primal beast is the last thing Rie Famille could possibly want!
Erika: We just wanted peace in Roanne. Not this...
The footsteps of Lukav and Heinrich stop right in front of their room.
Lukav's Voice: How's the president doing? It'll save me some trouble if he's already drawn his last breath.
Erika: ...
Lukav: That was too easy. The drops of blood formed a trail, leading me straight to you.
Erika: ...!
Damn!
The two saunter into the room.
Lukav: You should know that even if we overthrow the current government, it does nothing to change Roanne's status in the federation's eyes.
Lukav: The key to standing on equal ground with other nations is great strength—as something to fall back on, should the need for it arise.
Erika: But that's still no excuse for bringing out Socialis!
Erika: We're prepared to fight the federation, unlike the president over here! Things should be okay as long as we become Roanne's military!
Lukav: It's hopeless. The difference in military strength is astronomical.
Lukav: Ever since I learned of Socialis from my father's research, I've been thinking of a way to use it.
Lukav: It certainly wasn't on a whim that I decided to finally put things into action.
Lukav: However, the backlash from the populace for awakening the anomalous weapon would be too great. After all, the legend of it is well-known.
Lukav: That's when I thought to use the president.
President Jerome: ...
Lukav: I came up with a plan to corner the president into the floating fortress, pressuring him to activate Socialis as a last resort and taking all the blame for it.
Heinrich: You can imagine my surprise when that letter asking for my assistance arrived days before the attack on parliament.
President Jerome: You betrayed me because of a single letter?
Heinrich: I've always considered the greater good... Consider my actions those of a patriot who wants what's best for the country.
Erika: Luka... why would you seek the help of someone so rotten?
Heinrich: Show a little respect, would you? I'll have you know that they call me the Merchant of Death in the black market.
Heinrich: The existence of a weapon that could reproduce infinitely through people's bodies caught my attention... Yes—Socialis.
Heinrich: I'm to receive a sample of Socialis later. If developmental research goes well, I'll have an incredible item to add to my wares.
President Jerome: And you call yourself a patriot...
Erika: I can't believe it... The Luka I know would never do something like this!
Lukav: ...
The silence is broken by the crumbling of a nearby wall. The giant figure behind it charges forth.
Socialis: ...!

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 5: Truth - Episode 2

Lukav needs the president to die and bear the blame for activating Socialis. However, Erika believes it's wrong to use such a murderous weapon and refuses to cooperate. When Lukav points his gun at Erika, Yngwie arrives with Anderson.

Socialis breaks through the wall and clashes with the crew.
Socialis: ...!
Vyrn: Darn it! Where'd he come from!
(Captain) and company do their best to keep Socialis from reaching the president and Erika.
Lukav: I didn't expect the efforts of (Captain)'s crew to allow you to reach the control room.
Lukav: Erika... I need you to understand what I'm doing. I'd rather not have to kill you.
Lukav: In order for my ideals to be realized, the president must die. Turn away if you must.
Erika: Luka...
Lukav: Those in government are the enemy. Why are you showing hesitation now?
Lukav: Are you saying you trust the words of someone you just met over mine?
Erika: Well...
President Jerome: Huff... Huff...
Bracing himself for impending doom, the president's consciousness grows hazier with every pained breath he takes.
Erika: I...
Erika: Luka... I don't think I can side with you on this one.
Erika: So many people have died to the government's oppression.
Erika: And now it's Rie Famille that'll be doing the killing by controlling that terrible monster?
Erika: Something about that just... doesn't sit right with me.
Lukav: ...
Erika: I have my owns ideas about achieving our hopes and dreams.
Lukav: Seems I'll never get through to you. It's a shame, Erika.
Lukav points his gun at Erika.
Erika: Luka!
Yngwie: Took the words right out of my mouth, Lukav.
Erika: ...!
Erika gasps at the sight of the man standing behind Lukav.
Lukav: Yngwie!
Heinrich: This is what happens when you take your sweet time doing everything.
Yngwie: Kept you waiting, huh? Looks like we've got all the key players in one place.
Yngwie: You guys ready to get this party rolling?

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 5: Truth - Episode 3

Against Anderson's wishes, President Jerome refuses to leave the premises. Seeing everyone fight, he believes he has done enough running and that it is time he stayed behind for his people. Seeing his conviction, Anderson is determined to protect everyone in Rie Famille as well. After fighting alongside the crew to defeat Socialis, they all run out the fortress together this time.

Erika: Oh no...
Lyria: You're not hurt, are you?
Yngwie: Hope a bit of wear and tear doesn't diminish my charm any... Nah, I'm a ladies' man through and through.
Lukav immediately redirects his gun from Erika to Yngwie.
Yngwie: Erika, go. (Captain) could use a hand.
Erika: O-okay!
After a moment's hesitation, Erika runs over to assist (Captain).
Lukav: General Anderson's with you too, huh.
Heinrich: If only you two had finished each other off... As I understand it, you two go a long way back.
Anderson: Heinrich? Why are you with Rie Famille's commander? What in the world is happening!
Struggling to make heads or tails of the situation, Anderson panics when he sees Socialis targeting the president and runs over to defend him.
Anderson: Mr. President!
Lukav: Wide open.
Lukav doesn't flinch for a second in pulling the trigger.
Yngwie: Nice try!
Yngwie deflects the bullet with his shield, allowing Anderson to reach the president.
Anderson: Mr. President! Are you okay?
President Jerome: Ah... Anderson!
Anderson: That's Socialis, isn't it! You released the seal on it?

President Jerome: Yes... I had no other choice...
Anderson: Why is Heinrich with Rie Famille?
President Jerome: Seems they colluded to have me awaken Socialis all along...
Anderson: Heinrich... Damn you!
Anderson: But more importantly...
Anderson: We have to escape! Mr. President, getting away from here should be our top priority!
President Jerome: But...
The president looks to his wound, then to those doing battle with Socialis.
Anderson: Are you hurt?
President Jerome: Yes, but I'll be okay... They gave me treatment earlier. I just need to sit still for a while.
Anderson: It's too dangerous here, Mr. President! We should go right away!
President Jerome: ...
President Jerome: No, I'm going to stay behind.
Anderson: Why!
President Jerome: Because they're fighting to protect us all...
Anderson: But they're traitors!
President Jerome: No, Anderson, they are citizens of Roanne.
Anderson: ...?
President Jerome: Every member of Rie Famille is a citizen of Roanne.
President Jerome: I abandoned my people and escaped to this floating fortress.
President Jerome: Am I going to repeat that once more, escaping to who-knows-where this time? Will I have any citizens left to govern?
Anderson: Mr. President?
President Jerome: Without the citizenry, my title is meaningless. Instead of asking what the people can do for me, I ask what I can do for the people.
President Jerome: And at the moment, that means staying here with them.
The president's fierce resolve on the matter renders Anderson momentarily speechless as he searches for the right words.
Anderson: Then give me your orders, Mr. President.
President Jerome: ...?
Anderson: Please use your role of commander in chief to order me.
President Jerome: You're wounded though...
Anderson: I am a soldier. No matter my wounds, I will carry out the orders I am given.
President Jerome: Very well...
President Jerome: General Anderson, I order you to protect our people!
Anderson: Yes sir!
Socialis: ...!
Vyrn: Crud! This big guy's no slouch! Whadda we do, (Captain)!
Erika: We might want to consider retreating... After all, there's no need for us to fight it here...
Erika: (Luka... Why?)
In the midst of battle, Erika turns for a second to see how Yngwie and Lukav are faring.
Socialis: ...!
Erika: ...?
Anderson: You will not touch her!
Socialis: ...!
Erika: G-General Anderson!
Anderson: I am under the president's orders to protect you all! Fall back, everyone!
Erika: Wha...
Anderson: Nwaaaagh!
With his shield raised, Anderson rushes Socialis and rams it all the way into the wall.
Vyrn: Geez, where does he get all that power!
Anderson: Now, skyfarer!
(Captain) is already on the move, landing a mighty blow on the anomaly stuck between shield and wall.
Gran is the Main Character

(Captain): ...!

(Captain): ...!
Socialis: ...
Vyrn: Yeah! How do ya like 'em apples!
Erika: Wow...
Lyria: Sorry... I wanted to help, but I was afraid the whole building might come crashing down...
Vyrn: Yeah, that thing broke the wall pretty easy earlier too. Considering how ancient this place is, I'd say you made the right call.
After confirming that Socialis is down for good, Anderson looks at (Captain).
Anderson: You're quite the skyfarer, aren't you.
Vyrn: Heheh, you can say that again! (Captain)'s no slouch either!
Anderson: Hm... So you're the captain of Yngwie's crew.
Anderson: Regrettably this is no time for salutations. There are plenty more Socialis clones to deal with.
Vyrn: Yeah, we noticed. That's the second one we fought!
Anderson: That is most reassuring to hear. Now then, shall we get going?
Anderson: Mr. President, what say you?
President Jerome: Yes, I'm ready too. Caroline, can you stand?
Caroline: "Yay! We're going on a trip!"
Erika: You guys go ahead. I'm going to get Lukav.
Anderson: Let me stop you right there. Leave him to Yngwie. Best for you to leave now with the rest of us.
Erika: What makes you say that?
Anderson: You're a commanding officer in Rie Famille, yes? Considering how chaotic things are, don't you think your men could use an update on the situation?
Vyrn: He's got a point, Miss Adjutant. It's too risky in here. Best to carry on outside.
Lyria: I'm sure Yngwie will talk some sense into Lukav. So please, Erika...
Erika: Okay then...
Anderson: Off we go. I look forward to fighting alongside you, (Captain).

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 5: Truth - Episode 4

Yngwie stops Lukav from pursuing the president, suggesting that there are options other than Socialis for setting things right. But Lukav pays no heed, adamant that he is going to save Roanne. When another Socialis clone appears and nearly kills Lukav, he crawls back to the control room and inserts the Socialis activation key into his half-dead body.

Lukav: You did well to get here. Did you run into Socialis along the way?
Yngwie: Yep. Let's see, there was one, two, three, four...
Yngwie: Eh, I lost count. Point is I waxed more than a few on the way here, with Anderson's help.
Heinrich: Impressive...
Yngwie: Those things are absolute beasts; nothing I can't handle though. So they're what you call Socialis, the anomalous weapon, huh...
Lukav: You must've heard that from Anderson.
Yngwie: Care to tell me what your plans are with the thing? I wanna hear it direct from you.
Lukav: Surely you understand that Roanne needs great power to stand toe-to-toe with the federation.
Yngwie: A role that you expect Socialis to fill... Can you control it though? 'Cause the way things look, you're just setting yourself up for failure.
Yngwie: Erika and (Captain) are battling another copy right this moment.
Lukav: Socialis attacks those in closest proximity first. It presents a risk to us as well, unless...
Yngwie: Sound like you know a way to bring it under control after all.
Lukav: ...
Heinrich: Well, that's news to me. Would you like to share?
Lukav: Shut it, Heinrich. Don't want Yngwie to catch us off guard.
Yngwie: Lukav, I'm gonna be completely honest. I get what it is you're trying to do.
Yngwie: But your plan's too touch and go. What is it that drives you? You strike me as someone who'd be a lot more careful...
Lukav: I have to save Roanne... To become a hero!
Yngwie: A hero?
Lukav: Try as you might, a natural-born hero like you would never understand...
Yngwie: (What is it that hangs over him?)
Socialis: ...
Just then, Anderson and (Captain) take down another Socialis clone.
Yngwie: As strong as Socialis is, it's not unbeatable. It's too weak to be a proper weapon for Roanne.
Lukav: That may be true for its adult form, but you haven't seen its complete form. Only when it casts away its humanoid shape does its true power manifest.
Yngwie: So that's how it works...
Anderson: Yngy! We're getting out of here!
Yngwie: Got it, Andy. You go on ahead.
Erika: Luka...
Lukav: ...
Lukav keeps his gun trained on Yngwie, paying no heed to Erika.
Yngwie: Relax, mon amour. I'll bring Lukav back.
Erika: Promise me!
Yngwie: My word is my bond.
Vyrn: Yngwie, watch out!
Heinrich: Are you okay with letting the president go?
Lukav: Right... I still need him to take the blame for activating Socialis, even if it's the last thing he does.
Heinrich: We had quite a few surprises today, such as them being far more capable than we'd anticipated...
Lukav: I imagined them helping to reach the fortress and fight in the initial skirmish, but they've done far more.
Lukav: I can't be wasting time on you here, Yngwie. Move aside.
Yngwie: Giving me the cold shoulder already? Here I was thinking we'd stop and talk for a bit longer.
Yngwie: Too bad for you, I'm gonna make sure we do just that. I promised Erika.
Yngwie: Hope you don't mind me getting a little rough.
Lukav: ...!
Despite Lukav's heightened awareness at the moment, he fails to respond in time to Yngwie's overpowering intensity.
Yngwie: Lukav!
Lukav: Guaah!
Slipping right past Heinrich, Yngwie immediately closes the distance with a body tackle.
Lukav: Tch!
Yngwie: That all you've got? You'll never land a shot at that rate.
Lukav: Damn...
Heinrich: Our odds aren't looking too good...
Yngwie: Calm down and think, Lukav. There have to be other options.
Yngwie: You came up with this plan all in your head, right? It couldn't possibly be the optimal solution to Roanne's problems.
Yngwie: Why not just put everything on the table and talk things out with your allies? Why struggle so hard by yourself? Tell me, I'm all ears.
Yngwie: Like I said earlier, I understand what it is you're trying to accomplish, but why keep it all to yourself?
Lukav: You've said enough! Get away from me!
Yngwie: Rgh!
Heinrich: Tch!
Heinrich: (Thank goodness he's only targeting Lukav... Best get away while I can.)
Lukav rapidly fires all over the place, forcing Yngwie to back off.
Lukav: I will save Roanne!
The wall behind Lukav suddenly crumbles, as if triggered by his gunfire.
Socialis: ...
Yngwie: Lukav, behind you!
Socialis: ...!
Lukav: Guh!
Socialis's claws plunge into Lukav, scattering his flesh and blood all around.
Yngwie: Lukav!
Socialis: ...!
Yngwie: Outta the way!
Yngwie is drawn into a tussle with Socialis. Lukav falls on his back.
Lukav: ...?
Lukav: (I've... fallen? What happened? Have I... lost?)
Lukav: (Am I going to die here? Without having accomplished anything? Without... becoming a hero...)
Lukav: (I can't feel anything... Not even pain... I'm terribly sleepy... I suppose I could rest here...)
Yngwie: Lukav! Hang in there! Wake up, Lukav!
Amid his battle with Socialis, Yngwie continues calling out to Lukav.
Lukav: (Someone's calling me... I'll deal with it later... after a short nap...)
Yngwie: What's going to become of Rie Famille! How about Erika? Or Roanne? Are you just going to leave it all be?
Lukav: (Roanne...)
Lukav: Gwuh... Ro... anne...
Lukav: (Yes... Roanne... How could I forget... Am I dying? No, I can't die here...)
Lukav: (Muster your strength, Lukav... Remember your sins... Roanne still needs to be saved.)
Lukav: Ungh...
Yngwie: Lukav! That's the spirit!
Lukav enters a prone position and crawls on the ground, leaving a trail of blood behind him.
Yngwie: Lukav, where do you think you're going? Stay right there! I just need a moment—
Socialis: ...!
Yngwie: Hngh!
Taking the full brunt of the attack, Yngwie shrieks in pain. Lukav takes this chance to exit the room.
Dragging his entrails along and leaving behind a river of blood, Lukav makes it to the control room.
He finds the device that the president used to awaken Socialis.
Lukav: The... key...
Lukav: (I didn't grab it earlier because Heinrich was present, but that was a mistake.)
With the last of his strength, he grabs the spherical key.
Lukav: Pro... genitor...
His hand unsteady, he jams the key into his innards that are almost spilling out of him.
Lukav: Ungh...
Doing so makes him want to vomit, but he makes sure to jam the key all the way in nonetheless.
And then...
Lukav: ...!
He begins to feel the presence of another life-form in his chilled body.
A new awakening is about to occur.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 6: Father - Episode 1

Lukav knew all along from a secret notebook that his father kidnapped the president's child as revenge for the federation's carelessness, which led to his wife's death. He later regretted doing so but swore never to tell the truth in order to protect his dear son. And now to pay for his father's sins, Lukav takes in Socialis to become the hero that Roanne needs.

Lukav: It was roughly ten years ago that the army poured into Rire Village in full force.
Lukav: The adults were dragged away on suspicion of treason, leaving only the children behind.
Lukav: The military and adults from elsewhere occasionally showed up after that to check in on the village.
Lukav: But we children never opened up to them. After all, it was clear as day that they suspected us as well.
Lukav: Thing is, it was never clear why exactly we—or even the adults—were suspected of treason.
Lukav: I occasionally heard mention of some kidnapping or some baby, but I couldn't make sense of any of it.
Lukav: Regardless of our understanding in the matter, we children had no choice but to band together to survive.
Lukav: Trusting that our parents would return home one day, we endured our painful, harrowing lives.
Lukav: I made the big discovery shortly after we were told that all the adults in the village had died, and that the village would be broken up.
Lukav: I was rather absent-minded when I learned of my father's death. I chose to focus on consoling Erika and other younger children, who'd taken the news much harder than myself.
Lukav: But when I returned to an empty home each night, the tears would come pouring out. The loneliness ate away at me.
Lukav: Because my mother had already passed away years ago, my father did his best in raising me single-handedly.
Lukav: I entered my father's study, hoping to be closer to him. I rummaged through the shelves in search of anything that might remind me of him.
Lukav: And that's when I found it.
Lukav: Hidden under a floorboard was a memorandum—or more specifically, one man's confession.
Lukav's Father: I went to parliament that day to receive permission to investigate the ruins. I definitely did not go in there planning to commit a crime.
Lukav's Father: On my way out of the premises, a baby's cradle caught my eye. Oddly enough, no one else was around.
Lukav's Father: I swear that my intentions were perfectly innocent. At least, up until that point.
Lukav's Father: It's as if I was suddenly possessed by a great evil.
Lukav's Father: The federation's negligence and sloth led to my wife not receiving her medication and dying as a result, leaving behind me and my son. Yet the government never raised a finger for us.
Lukav's Father: The president and his wife, on the other hand, lived in pure bliss with their newborn child. Why was this allowed?
Lukav's Father: I found it unforgivable. My intentions were no longer pure.
Lukav's Father: It was all too easy for me to snatch up the child from its cradle and walk out of parliament without batting an eye.
Lukav's Father: On the way back, I regained my conscience—perhaps my natural cowardliness had kicked in.
Lukav's Father: I had considered coming up with some kind of excuse and returning the baby, but that would lead to a thorough investigation into me. Someone may have spotted me.
Lukav's Father: Even now, I shudder to think of it. But in my rampant fear, I decided to turn away from reality.
Lukav's Father: I left the slumbering baby in an abandoned hut in the village and ran away.
Lukav's Father: Of course, I had considered giving myself up as well. But then the government would execute my son Lukav in addition to myself.
Lukav's Father: What was I thinking? Why did I take the baby? Reflecting back on it, I don't know what came over me.
Lukav's Father: Just like my sins are not my son's, the sins of the president—who is all but a puppet of the federation—are not his child's.
Lukav's Father: I'm afraid of what happens next. The aftermath will not be pretty... This village might even...
Lukav's Father: Regardless, I hereby swear...
Lukav's Father: That no matter what happens, I'm going to protect my son. Having lost both my beloved wife and my conscience as an upstanding citizen, my son is the only treasure I have left.
Lukav's Father: Lukav, my son. I pray that you, at least, will live a long life. Don't stray from a righteous path; be better than your father.
Lukav: It was as if I had forgotten how to breathe as I reread the letter from the top.
Lukav: "No matter what happens..."
"No matter what happens..."
"No matter what happens..."
Lukav: And here I am, still alive when all the adults are dead—my father among them.
Lukav: My father kept the secret until his dying breath. In order to keep me safe. Just me.
Lukav: All the grown-ups, including Erika's parents, were sacrificed so that I could live on.
Lukav: My very existence is built atop a hundred corpses.
Lukav: But who could I confess this to? Erika and the other children? Or the government?
Lukav: If confessing this terrible sin would restore the village's former state, I would gladly have given up my life.
Lukav: But it was too late. My father and all the innocent people would never come back.
Lukav: I was left behind with this terrible secret...
Lukav: Having regained my breath, an idea came to me.
Lukav: If I alone could somehow find a way to save Roanne, then my father's actions would have led to the betterment of the country in the long run.
Lukav: By no stretch of the imagination was Rire a wealthy village. But if I were to turn that around and make it more prosperous than ever before...
Lukav: Helping its residents find happiness in the process...
Lukav: Yes, that was it... I gathered the orphans of Rire Village and vowed to build a new era.
Lukav: All I had to do was make Roanne a nation so great that even the federation could not contest it.
Lukav: A place where anyone could freely pursue a life of joy and abundance...
Lukav: A hundred corpses would seem like a pittance when compared to how great the nation would become, I told myself.
Lukav: Yes, I had to become the hero of Roanne.
Yngwie: ...!
Lukav... What in the...
Yngwie follows the blood trail to the control room and is taken aback by what he sees upon opening the door.
Lukav: ...
Yngwie: Lukav... Socialis infected you? But...
Although he shares some resemblance with Socialis, Lukav maintains his general height and build.
Lukav: ...
Lukav instantaneously closes the gap between them, standing in front of Yngwie.
Yngwie: Wha...
Lukav: Yngwie...
Yngwie: Lukav! That still you in there?
Yngwie: What's happened to you is weird, but at least your injuries earlier—
Yngwie: Augh... Cough...
Lukav's arm has plunged through Yngwie's abdominal region, bursting a few of his organs.
Yngwie: Lu... Lu... kav?
Lukav: Yngwie, you're going to be the 101st.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 6: Father - Episode 2

Lukav, having gained the great power of the progenitor Socialis, comes out in pursuit of President Jerome. When he relays the news that Yngwie is dead, Erika rushes in to find him. (Captain) and Anderson try to hold off Lukav while Lyria escorts the president and first lady to an escape cruiser.

(Captain) and company escape from the fortress with the president in tow.
Yet even outside, another Socialis clone poses a threat.
Eugen: (Captain)! You're all right!
Lyria: Mm-hm! It's a relief to see that you're okay too!
Roanne Soldier 2: General Anderson! The president too?
Anderson: He's hurt, but he'll pull through. What's the situation here!
Roanne Soldier 2: It's absolute chaos... Not only can that terrible monster tear things apart left and right, it finds a new host whenever defeated!
Socialis: ...!
Vyrn: That is one nasty primal beast...
Eugen: Primal beast? So this is the anomalous weapon then...
Vyrn: Yep! Mr. President here calls it Socialis!
President Jerome: That's right... But what you've been fighting so far are more akin to clones. They're not the original, it seems like.
Lyria: Not the original?
President Jerome: The true Socialis laid asleep in the key I held onto... That one is the progenitor.
Anderson: The progenitor?
Erika: How's it different from the other ones?
President Jerome: Socialis's clones operate through a collective consciousness, a hive mind of sorts.
President Jerome: And the one in control of it is the progenitor, which I awakened...
Vyrn: You think we can stop Socialis if we just smash that key?
President Jerome: No... If it were that easy, I'd have done it already. Socialis doesn't stop once it's activated...
Socialis: ...!
Lyria: Be careful!
Socialis's attack grazes Anderson's body.
Anderson: Tsk! Won't even give us a moment to talk!
The crew and allies are forced into another battle with Socialis.
It periodically discharges insectoids that try to attach themselves to new hosts.
With so many things to watch out for, this battle is proving to be especially taxing.
Erika: You know... If that key's so important, shouldn't we get our hands on it?
Anderson: Indeed... Perhaps I should go back for it. I'm worried about Yngwie too.
???: No need for that.
As they look for where the voice came from, the crew notice a figure suddenly descending upon them.
Lukav: ...
Anderson: A new breed of Socialis? Watch out!
Erika: Wait, I heard Luka's voice just now—
Lukav: Where's the president?
Anderson: ...!
Vyrn: I-it talks!
Erika: Wha... Luka?
Vyrn: No way!
Lukav: Erika, tell me where the president is.
Lukav scans their surroundings, but the commander in chief is nowhere to be seen.
Erika: Luka... why do you look like that?
Anderson: Lukav of Rie Famille! What happened to you?
Lukav: Where's the president? Roanne needs him to die.
Anderson: As if I'd let you! I'm going to detain you for plotting the whole coup d'etat to begin with!
Lukav: Give it up.
Lukav effortlessly slips past Anderson's arm and knocks him aside.
Anderson: Uwaaah!
(Captain): ...!
(Captain): ...!
(Captain) doesn't waste the chance to get into Lukav's blind spot.
Lukav: Impressive reaction speed. However...
(Captain) had circled behind Lukav, only for Lukav to do the same and land a powerful blow.
Vyrn: Aw crud... (Captain)!
Anderson: Ngh! Lukav... How are you so strong...
Lukav: It is the progenitor's power.
Erika: ...!
Progenitor? Of Socialis?
Lukav: It was possible to use the key to give commands to Socialis. Apparently, the government was unaware of this.
Lukav: Though I had no idea that it could also become the wielder's source of power. Apparently, not even my father knew.
Lukav: But whether that's an inherent function or a result of my specific bodily makeup is anyone's guess...
Lukav: I've retained both my life and my consciousness, on top of gaining Socialis's power.
Lukav: This gambit I took on the brink of death turned out the best possible way.
Erika: ...
Lukav: The Socialis clones are already under my command. The transfer is complete. Roanne has gained a new weapon.
Lukav: Listen, General Anderson. Roanne is capable of change. It can surpass the federation by leaps and bounds.
Lukav: You can finally take revenge for your family.
Anderson: ...!
Lukav: This battle is over. We have no reason to continue fighting. However...
Lukav: The current president has to die first, in order for the masses to know that things have changed. Consider it his final job as commander in chief.
Anderson: Absolutely not! I won't let it happen!
Lukav: Why? Do you not want to see Roanne prosper?
Anderson: I am a soldier first—one who's sworn fealty to the president. You're mistaken if you think I'm going to change sides!
Anderson: Even if I should fall, Yngwie will surely...
Anderson comes to a sudden realization upon uttering that name.
Anderson: ...
Yngwie?
Vyrn: Yeah, where'd he go? Wasn't he with you, Commander Dude?
Erika: Luka?
Lukav: Yngwie's dead.
Erika: ...!
No, that can't be...
Vyrn: Tell us you're jokin'!
Vyrn: There's no way he coulda kicked the bucket!
Lukav: In the unlikely chance that he still breathes, it won't be for much longer—not after I punched through his organs with my fist.
Lukav: Some time has passed since then. I doubt any restorative magic would work at this point.
Vyrn: You've gotta be lyin'! You don't fool me for a second!
Lukav: Old heroes become relics of the past, paving the way for new heroes.
Lukav: Heroes like me.
Erika: ...!
  1. Go find Yngwie!

Choose: Go find Yngwie!
Erika: (Captain)!
Anderson: Damn you, Lukaaav!
Gran is the Main Character

(Captain): ...!
Djeeta is the Main Character

(Captain): ...!
Anderson and (Captain) create an opening for Erika, who runs back the way she came.
Erika: No, no, no...
President Jerome: Caroline... You feeling all right? Are you scared?
Caroline: "All good here!"
Caroline: Mr. Bunny's doing well.
President Jerome: Oh... Mr. Bunny's a brave one, isn't he...
Lyria: Mr. President... How are you doing? You're still hurt, so please take it easy...
President Jerome: I'll... be fine... Just have a side stitch since I haven't run in such a long time...
The president and Lyria head to a cruiser.
This was shortly before Lukav made his appearance...
Erika: It's too dangerous for you to stay here, Lyria! Not to mention these two...
Lyria: I'll be okay! But you're right about the president...
Vyrn: Yeah, it's not safe for Mr. President and his wifey with all these Socialis clones runnin' about.
Anderson points in a certain direction.
Anderson: There's a cruiser waiting that way. The path there is a bit labyrinthian, so you're not likely to be spotted. If worst comes to worst, you can use it to take off.
Lyria: I'll bring the president and first lady there then!
Anderson: ...
You wouldn't mind doing that?
Vyrn: We're all in this together now! And you wouldn't believe how amazing Lyria is! No time to explain though...
Lyria: Okay! I'll keep them safe!
Anderson: Thank you... I'm in your debt.
Anderson: If things get too dicey here, use the cruiser to escape, Mr. President. Do you remember how to pilot one?
President Jerome: It's been a while, but... I'll manage. Of course, I'll try to hold out here first. The way I see it, there's nowhere to run to anymore...
Anderson: Mr. President...
Anderson: Nwaah!
Anderson and (Captain) end up striking thin air multiple times; Lukav is too fast for them to keep up with.
Lukav: You cannot beat me. Why even try?
Vyrn: Darn it... He's a tough one...
Lukav: You're only alive now because I allow it. I could have killed you both multiple times by now if I wanted to.
Lukav: Knowing that, do you still plan on going after Yngwie?
Vyrn: Yngwie... Gah, cheese and rice!
Lukav: General Anderson, I hope you realize our vast difference in power levels before I find a reason to kill you.
Lukav's voice is surprisingly calm, hardly befitting of someone engaged in battle.
And just the same, Anderson's response is hardly befitting of someone so greatly overwhelmed.
Anderson: Hahaha...
Vyrn: Somethin' funny, Shield General?
Anderson: Bwahahaha!
Lukav: Gone daft, have you?
Anderson: Lukav! You couldn't be more wrong!
Lukav: What are you talking about?
Anderson: Victory is within our grasp! You can't win this one!
Lukav: Preposterous. A general should know better than to show false bravado.
Anderson holds up his weapon as if to show it off to Lukav.
Anderson: It seems you don't know about this shield!
Lukav: Shield?
Anderson: Yngwie and I picked up our anomalous shields from this very fortress—twenty years ago!
Anderson: Now can you guess why it would be resting in this very place beside Socialis?
Lukav: ...
Anderson: Because it's meant to counter Socialis!
Vyrn: Wha?
Anderson: Normally, I'd have been too spent from my bout with Yngwie to continue fighting!
Anderson: Yet I squared off with a few humanoids, and here I am fighting you! Even I wasn't sure where all this energy was coming from!
Anderson: But I couldn't be more sure now! The shield gives me strength!
Anderson: It exhibits a special response when going up against Socialis! That includes you, Lukav!
Lukav: Nonsense.
Lukav clashes against Anderson's shield with a devastating piercing blow.
Anderson: Hng!
Vyrn: General!
Though the tremendous impact forces Anderson back a few steps...
He maintains his ground.
Lukav: ...!
Vyrn: Holy Hector... I can't believe he was able to block that...
Anderson: That's not all, little one.
Anderson: Many of the wounds I sustained in battling the humanoids have closed up.
Anderson: Seems this shield heals its wielder at an alarming rate in response to Socialis.
Anderson: You know what that means? Don't forget I'm not the only one who's got this shield.
Vyrn: ...!
You mean—
Anderson: That's right.
Anderson: Yngwie's alive!
Lukav: ...
Anderson: (Captain), I know Yngwie will be with us in a bit! We just have to hold on until then!
  1. I couldn't be happier!
  2. We fight together.

Choose: I couldn't be happier!
Vyrn: Heh... Hehe! That's more like it! Best news I've heard all day!

Choose: We fight together.
Anderson: That look in your eyes... Reminds me of Yngwie in his youth.
Continue 1
Filled with the hope that Yngwie is going to make a comeback, power wells up within (Captain).
Anderson: Come at me, Lukav! I'll block every attack you can dish out!
Lukav: You seem to be mistaken.
Lukav: Even if the shield really does get a boost against Socialis, my power still exceeds it by far.
Vyrn: Huh?
Lukav: You haven't seen what I'm truly capable of yet.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 6: Father - Episode 3

Finding a dying Yngwie, Erika reveals that the two are not related by blood. Yngwie had always known and still proudly calls her his "daughter." When Erika's tears fall onto him, his anomalous shield emits a bright light and changes shape.

Slave Merchant: Who the heck are you!
Yngwie: Name's Yngwie. I'm the cure to diseases like you.
Slave Merchant: Hah. You've gotta be off yer rocker to sneak into our hideout alone.
Yngwie: Look who's talking.
Yngwie: You put chains on the weak, robbing them of the right to live freely—a right that belongs to everyone under these skies.
Slave Merchant: Shut yer damn trap! Get him!
Yngwie: Adieu.
Having obliterated the slave merchant's hideout with overwhelming force, Yngwie reaches a large prison cell in the back.
Yngwie: You're all free now.
Woman: Who are you... Are you really going to just let us go?
Yngwie: ...!
Sure am...
Woman: What's your name?
Yngwie: Yngwie.
Yngwie: What's yours?
Ayaka: Ayaka...
Yngwie: A beautiful name for the woman I'm going to love and spend the sweetest days with.
Ayaka: Yngwie...
No further words are needed between the two, their eyes transfixed on each other.
Erika: Ng... wie...
Yn... w...
Yngwie: Aya... ka?
Erika: Yngwie! It's me! Erika!
Lying in a pool of his own blood, Yngwie finally notices Erika's presence.
Yngwie: Erika... I couldn't be more ashamed to have my daughter see me like this...
Erika: ...!
Erika: I'm so sorry, Yngwie... The truth is... we're not actually related.
Yngwie: ...?
Erika: You're hurt because of me... I hope you'll forgive me for dragging you into this mess that has nothing to do with you...
Yngwie: ...
Erika: I'm not really your daughter!
Erika: Mom was already pregnant before she met you!
Erika: It was a lie I told you in the letter ten years ago!
Erika: I figured if you believed I was your daughter, you'd come for sure...
Yngwie cracks a soft smile at her strained words.
Yngwie: I knew.
Erika: Wh-what do you mean?
Yngwie: I'm... infertile.
Erika: ...!
Yngwie: As a kid, I came down with a nasty fever when an epidemic hit. That's when I lost it...
Erika: Th-then why come all the way to Oarlyegrande?
Yngwie: Because of your letter. I could just tell how desperate you must've been writing it. Soon as I saw the word "Dad," my mind was made up.
Erika: ...!
Yngwie: You're my daughter.
Erika: Sniff... Waah...
Large tears stream down her face, landing on Yngwie's cheek.
Yngwie: Wha... What's happening...
Yngwie's anomalous shield suddenly emits a bright light.
Yngwie: Uoo... hhh!
The shield changes form as if responding to his will.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Chapter 6: Father - Episode 4

Lukav's extraordinarily fast movements prove to be too much for (Captain) and Anderson to handle. Fortunately, Yngwie shows up with a greatsword in hand to defeat Lukav. Due to the progenitor's influence, Lukav begins to lose control as his body gets back up to fight.

Outside the floating fortress, (Captain) and Anderson continue to engage Lukav.
Anderson: Nwaaah!
Lukav: How pointless.
(Captain) and Anderson take turns keeping up the pressure. Yet Lukav dodges all their attacks, sticking to the tree like a bat.
Lukav: You may as well be frozen in time.
Anderson: Rgh... His extraordinary speed makes his movements hard to read.
Eugen and the soldiers, too, are stupefied by how Lukav is practically running circles around the two.
Eugen: This is bad...
Eugen: Guys! We have to help them!
Roanne Soldier 2: And we shall! Cover General Anderson!
However, the members of Rie Famille do not follow suit.
Famille Soldier 3: Guys, isn't that... Lukav? Why does he look like that?
While Rie Famille are still reeling from the realization that this is their commander, the others join the battle.
Lukav: I saw this coming too...
Do it.
Socialis: ...!
Eugen: The heck... Their movements are uniform now, as if they're working in concert...
Socialis: ...!
Roanne Soldier 2: More of them! Watch yourselves, everyone!
Famille Soldier 3: R-right!
Eugen: Drat! We'll never get close to those two at this rate!
Exhaustion begins to show in the movements of (Captain) and Anderson.
Anderson: Huff... Huff... We've got an infinitely expanding undead army on one hand, and a makeshift army on the other...
Lukav: Do you get it now? Your chances of winning are nonexistent.
Anderson: Still doesn't give us an excuse to run with our tails tucked between our legs!
  1. We can still fight!
  2. Don't count your eggs just yet!

Choose: We can still fight!
Lukav: Ever the hopeful one.

Choose: Don't count your eggs just yet!
Lukav: You don't know when to give up.
Continue 1
Lukav: No matter. Your army will fall once I've finished off you two.
Lukav moves in on (Captain) in the blink of an eye and brings his sword down.
Vyrn: ...!
Before the blow can connect, (Captain) instinctively calls out the name of an ally.
  1. Yngwiiieee!

Choose: Yngwiiieee!
Yngwie: Kept you waiting, huh, (Captain).
Vyrn: Yngwie!
Lukav: ...!
Yngwie: Erika, watch over (Captain). You could use a break yourself, Anderson. Let me handle Lukav solo.
Erika: O-okay...
Anderson: Yngy...
Lukav: You survived such a deep wound... General Anderson may have been on the mark after all...
Yngwie: Lukav... Playtime's over.
Anderson: Yngy... That sword!
Yngwie: Sorry I couldn't get here sooner, Andy.
Yngwie: But it's time to set things right. I can feel the power; it's just like back then.
Anderson: Heh... It's all you now, Captain.
Yngwie: Yeah, I've got this.
Lukav: Adding another fossil to the mix changes nothing.
Yngwie: We'll see about that!
Lukav: Give it up.
As Yngwie and Lukav prepare to face off, the battle against Socialis clones continues around them.
Eugen: Yngwie's back!
Eugen: All right, boys, we're givin' this everything we've got! Socialis is goin' down!
Soldiers: Raaah!
Socialis: ...!
Yngwie: You still think the situation hasn't changed?
Lukav: Not in the least.
Yngwie: Tell me, Lukav... Why did you choose to go through with this plan?
Yngwie: Do you have any words for those who followed you to their deaths?
Lukav: Sacrifice is inevitable in the achievement of true peace. You gain nothing if you're not willing to risk anything.
Lukav: I had already lost everything when I first set out on this path.
Yngwie: ...?
Some amount of bloodshed is going to happen; there's no avoiding that.
Yngwie: But relying on a weapon of mass murder like Socialis is a crime against mankind.
Lukav: Heroes are what they are because they accomplish something too great for the layman to understand.
Lukav: The people of today may vilify me, but future generations will sing praises of my heroic deeds for bettering their lives.
Yngwie: Anyone ever tell you you've got a serious hero complex?
Lukav: ...
Yngwie: Never mind that. Let's keep this simple: one shot decides it all.
Yngwie: Whoever wins controls the future of Roanne. Let's go!
Lukav: You just set yourself up for failure.
Yngwie & Lukav: Haaaaah!
The two focus all their might and cross swords.
Lukav: Rgh!
Yngwie: Pant... Wheeze... Phew...
Lukav collapses to the ground, while Yngwie falls to one knee.
Lukav: It... It's not over yet...
Lukav: ...
Yngwie: Lukav! What's wrong?
Lukav: Pro... geni...
Erika: A-are you okay?
Yngwie: Something's not right with him!
Lukav: It's taking... control... Grwaaah!
Anderson: Must be the doing of the Socialis progenitor inside him!
Lukav: D-die... Diiieee...
Yngwie: Seems like he's lost all rationality and has gone into full carnage mode.
Anderson: Yngy, I'll join you. Two old warhorses is better than one.
Yngwie: Hahah! Counting on you, Andy! The legend of the Debonair Daredevils is about to be reborn!
Erika: I want to help Luka regain his senses too!
Yngwie: All right, Erika... Together then.
  1. We fight as one!

Choose: We fight as one!
Yngwie: Well said, (Captain). This is the true final battle.
Lukav: Slaauugh... ter!
Yngwie: It's showtime, boys and girls!
Yngwie: Full Metal Poowweeerrr!

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Ending - Episode 1

Upon seeing the government and Rie Famille forces working together to fight Socialis, the downed Lukav realizes he was mistaken. After telling Erika the whereabouts of the notebook detailing the secrets of the past, he wishes for Erika's happiness and breathes his last breath. Just then, a volley of gunfire goes off in their direction.

Lukav: Huff... Huff... Ungh...
Yngwie: Pant... Wheeze... You've lost this one, Lukav.
Lukav: Nngh...
Before the tottering Lukav collapses, Erika runs over and catches him in her arms.
Erika: Luka!
Lukav: Eri... ka...
Yngwie: Lukav, what say we put an end to this? Can you stop Socialis?
Lukav: I... don't have enough power remaining to stop Socialis.
Eugen: Wha... Yngwie and them really pulled it off!
Eugen: All right, guys! Finish off these last Socialis clones, and we can go home!
Soldiers: Whoo!
The soldiers of both Rie Famille and the government fight as a single unified force.
Erika: Look, Luka! They've all banded together to combat Socialis!
Anderson: In the face of a national crisis, there's no time for infighting. It sure is reassuring to see them realize that.
Yngwie: You're all citizens of the same country. As long as you can agree on that, Roanne has hope yet.
Lukav: You're... right...
Lukav: What have I been doing all this time...
Lukav: What has... been the meaning of my life?
Lukav: Erika... Are you there?
Erika: Yes, Luka?
Lukav: The drawer in my study has a false bottom... I've recorded all my sins there.
Erika: Wait, what? What do you mean by... sins?
Lukav: Erika... Don't blame my father. He did what he did only so that I could live. I'm the one responsible for your mother's death...
Lukav: I'm sorry... for all the trouble I caused you... May you find happiness... Erika...
A trickle of tears rolls down his cheek, suggesting either disappointment or regret.
Lukav's Father: Lukav, my dearest son.
Lukav's Father: You are my treasure.
Lukav: Father...
Lukav: I was wrong. I ended up making the same mistake you did...
Lukav: Still, I'm glad to have been your son.
Lukav: ...
Erika: Luka? Lu... Luka!
Lukav breathes his last breath in Erika's arms.
Erika: Sniff... How can you just go like that after saying your piece? No fair, Luka...
Yngwie: Lukav...
Yngwie strokes the heads of both Lukav and Erika like a loving father would.
Anderson: I hate to interrupt, but we have a few Socialis clones to take care of...
Yngwie: Right... Let's clean up this mess for good.
Yngwie: ...!
Watch out!
Yngwie jumps into the crossfire to protect Erika.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Ending - Episode 2

Having fired off a few rounds, Heinrich and his private military company take Lukav's body to profit off of the progenitor Socialis. The crew panics when he takes off in his airship, but a cruiser is trailing them from behind.

Yngwie: Ngh...
Heinrich: Still standing after a clean shot like that? You are one tough cookie.
PMC: Heinrich! Preparations for evacuation are complete!
Heinrich: Good work.
Anderson: Heinrich! Who are they?
Heinrich: My very own private military company.
Heinrich's PMC seems to appear out of nowhere, surrounding (Captain) and the others.
Anderson: Still up to your schemes at the eleventh hour, Heinrich?
Heinrich: No, I just want my original agreement to be honored—a Socialis sample for my services.
Heinrich: And getting my hands on the progenitor, which leaves the host's consciousness intact, would be the best bang for my buck.
Lukav: ...
Heinrich: I can't believe I fell for it when this cheat pretended to be clueless about the progenitor.
Heinrich: Be careful in hauling out the immortal primal beast. Wouldn't want my top-shelf product to be ruined.
Heinrich orders his men to carry out Lukav's body.
Yngwie: H-hold it!
Erika: What are you going to do with Luka!
Heinrich: Still trying to resist us when you should be focusing on staying alive?
Heinrich: Best not blame me if you drop dead right here and now.
Heinrich: Well then, if you'll excuse me.
Heinrich proudly struts off with his PMC in tow.
Yngwie: Blast it... Should've conserved some strength for a worst-case scenario like this...
Anderson: He got us... Must've been gunning for a chance like this the entire time.
After dealing with the Socialis clones, Eugen and the soldiers go over to (Captain)'s group.
Eugen: Huff... Huff... Sorry it took a while, but we cleaned things up on our end.
Anderson: Seems you did a fine job leading my troops.
Just then, a single airship takes off from the floating fortress.
Anderson: That airship... It's Heinrich's!
Yngwie: The world is going to be that much worse off if Socialis makes it out of Roanne.
Vyrn: We can't let that happen! Then again, it's not like we can catch up to them in time either...
However, a cruiser launches into the air right behind Heinrich's ship.
Anderson: That cruiser... It can't be!
All eyes turn to the cruiser seemingly trailing the airship.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Ending - Episode 3

Trailing behind Heinrich's airship is President Jerome. Intent on preventing Socialis from becoming a threat to the entire world, he and the first lady are ready to crash straight into Heinrich's airship. Heinrich tries to get away, but Yngwie fires a beam at his ship.

President Jerome: Heinrich! You're not getting away!
Caroline: "Up, up, and away!"
Anderson: Piloting that cruiser is... the president?
Lyria: I'm back, everyone!
Rackam: So you're all here!
Vyrn: Lyria! Rackam! You're safe!
Rackam: I bumped into Lyria along the way and joined her. There was something I had to look into...
Rackam: Before landing on the fortress, I spotted an airship belonging to neither the government nor anti-government forces docked out of the way.
Rackam: I came to let you know, but that airship just now was it.
Vyrn: Darn it! Must belong to Heinrich and his PMC!
Erika: Lyria, about that cruiser chasing after the airship...
Lyria: I noticed it just now myself! That's the president and Caroline in there!
Lyria: He said he was going to hide with Caroline, but...
Anderson: Then why's he chasing Heinrich? What could the president possibly be thinking!
President Jerome: You've brought us far enough. Thank you.
Lyria: Um... What do you plan on doing from here?
President Jerome: Did you see the ship that flew off just now? It was only for a moment, but I caught a glimpse of his face.
Lyria: Huh?
President Jerome: Oh, don't mind me... As the president, I can't afford to die here.
President Jerome: For the time being, I'm going to escape and go into hiding with my wife. You should return to your friends.
Lyria: Um, sure... Are you sure you two will be okay though?
President Jerome: Haha, anywhere's safer than here right now. I suggest you worry about yourself and your crew. Be careful.
Lyria: O-okay then! Mr. President, Caroline, please take care of yourselves!
Caroline: "Buh-bye, miss!"
Lyria: Mm-hm! Goodbye! Teehee!
Anderson: Mr. President... You can't be serious...
President Jerome: Heinrich... Betraying me is one thing, but I will not allow you to bring Roanne's forbidden weapon out into the world!
President Jerome takes the cruiser's controls and ascends to the skies in pursuit of Heinrich.
Having the advantage in speed, the president quickly gains on him.
President Jerome: Caroline, do you really want to stay for this?
President Jerome: There's still time for you to escape by parachute...
Caroline: ...
President Jerome: Caroline?
Caroline: Jerome...
Caroline: "Till death do us part," we promised each other.
President Jerome: ...!
C-Caroline...
Caroline: Haha...
President Jerome: ...
You remember our wedding vows like they were yesterday.
Caroline: My parents were absolutely opposed to me marrying a politician, especially my dad.
President Jerome: Yet I never gave up. My persistence eventually won over your father. I was so, so passionate about you.
Caroline: About our son...
President Jerome: That was entirely my fault... I had lost my passion... My failures in legislature came back to bite me.
Caroline: I'm just as guilty. After all, I was living with you the entire time.
Caroline: It hasn't always been smooth sailing, but I was never bored and I don't regret any of it. I'm glad I chose to be with you.
Caroline: And now we'll get to be together—all three of us.
President Jerome: Caroline...
Though the president is going at full throttle, the mood is surprisingly calm as he and his wife reminisce about happier times.
Heinrich: Who's piloting that ship?
PMC: It appears to be President Jerome himself.
Heinrich: Oho... So he's taken things into his own hands.
PMC: What should we do? We can't compete with the speed of a cruiser, so they'll catch up soon enough.
Heinrich: I suppose our only option is to use that booster.
PMC: As I'm sure you're aware, the booster's final test trial has yet to be conducted...
Heinrich: The president plans to take us all down by crashing into us. We can't let that happen.
PMC: V-very well!
The president notices the airship ahead speeding up.
President Jerome: Rgh... How is it able to push such speed! At this rate, Socialis will be a danger to all...
Caroline: Jerome...
President Jerome: Am I powerless to do anything once again? So addicted to the taste of sweet honey that I let corruption fester... And now I've broken the most terrible taboo in the history of Roanne!
Heinrich: No matter how useless someone is, they become incapable of acknowledging it the moment they receive accolades.
Heinrich: Because a reward serves as proof of one's value! A slew of bungling half-wits will end up being in charge.
President Jerome: Of course... He was talking about me all along!
Heinrich: This is goodbye, Mr. President. Nice knowing you.
Heinrich: Despite you giving up your life here, you ended up accomplishing nothing.
PMC: A heat signature from the flying fortress is fast approaching!
Heinrich: The heck?
Yngwie: Just one last job to do.
Despite being grievously injured, Yngwie prepares to fire off his Full Metal Cannon.
His target: Heinrich's airship.
Yngwie: Time to go out with a bang.

Full Metal Man VII: The Last Mission - Ending - Episode 4

While managing to avoid a direct hit from Yngwie's beam, Heinrich's airship slows down just enough for the cruiser to catch up. His plan is foiled in the ensuing explosion, during which Yngwie could sense Socialis's presence—suggesting that Lukav is still alive. In order to search for his "son," Yngwie sets out another adventure with the crew.

Overwhelming pain shoots through Yngwie's body as he tries to muster strength.
Yngwie: Gwuh...
Anderson: Yngy!
Yngwie: No worries, Andy...
  1. You need to rest up.
  2. Don't push yourself.

Choose: You need to rest up.
Choose: Don't push yourself.
Vyrn: Yeah, your body's all banged up!
Yngwie: C'mon now, (Captain). Don't deny me this chance for a last hurrah...
Lyria: Yngwie! But...
Anderson: I hate to say it, but you hardly have any strength left... What you need more than anything now is treatment.
Not just the crew, but even Anderson expresses concern over Yngwie's state.
Erika: I'm rooting for you..
Vyrn: Miss Adjutant!
Yngwie: Erika... You sure about that?
Erika: Considering what they're going to do with Luka anyway, I'd rather...
Erika: Make them pay, Daddy!
Yngwie: Exactly what I needed to hear!
Riling himself up, Yngwie musters his strength once more.

And then...
Yngwie: Au revoir, Lukav...
Yngwie: Full Metal Cannon!
Yngwie launches his beam straight toward Heinrich's ship.
Heinrich: Nwaaagh!
Hit from behind, the airship shakes from the impact.
Heinrich: Rgh... What's the damage?
PMC: W-we'll be okay... We avoided a direct hit! Though we still took considerable damage!
Vyrn: No way... It missed!
Yngwie: Shoot... Can't believe I botched my last hurrah...
PMC: Most of the damage is to the side of the airship... We won't be able to stay in the air for very long...
Heinrich: Okay... We'll just have to crash-land onto a nearby island.
The airship is chugging along when something emerges from the trail of smoke behind it.
President Jerome: Heinrich!
Heinrich: No, not the president!
President Jerome: I'll admit it, Heinrich! I'm a bungling half-wit who never deserved any accolades!
Heinrich: Daaamn yoouuu!
The cruiser catches up to the decelerated airship, plunging straight into it.
Anderson: Mr. Presideeeent!
Erika: Ah... Luka...
Yngwie: ...
The resulting explosion from the collision leads to a rain of debris falling to the depths of the skies.
(Captain) and company take a moment of silence to watch this unfold.
Erika: Goodbye, Luka...
Roanne, preparing for reconstruction, is about to hold an election to decide the next president.
The entire nation is hard at work to reform the government so that Roanne will no longer succumb to pressures laid on by the federation.
Though the land where Rire Village once stood remains a ghost of the past.
Yngwie: There...
Yngwie: Phew... Think this'll do?
Erika: Uh-huh, thanks... How are you holding up?
Yngwie: I'm much better now.
Yngwie plants a large boulder the height of an average person onto the ground, after which Erika uses a tool to etch names onto it—
The names of the hundred who were sent to die during the Nightmare at Rire.
Yngwie: A gravestone, huh...
Erika: I've wanted something like this for a long time, to leave behind proof that these people once lived.
Erika: But it just didn't feel right until now... The government would've destroyed any memorial here the moment they learned of it anyway.
Yngwie: True... Rire Village's forefathers would be proud of you.
Erika: Feel free to head back first, Dad. I've got a hundred people's worth of names to etch after all.
Yngwie: What kind of a father would I be if I left my daughter alone here? I'll wait.
Erika: Haha...
Yngwie: Besides... I'm also here to see Ayaka.
Erika: Oh right. I'm sure she's happy to see you too, Dad.
Yngwie: I'm sorry it took me so long to find my way here. How I wish I'd gotten here sooner...
Erika: ...
Yngwie stands behind Erika, watching his daughter etch names into stone as time slowly passes by.
By the time the sun begins to set, Erika's hand stops just before one final name.
Yngwie: Lukav, eh.
Erika: Yeah... It feels like I'm saying goodbye to him for good if I put his name down here...
Yngwie: Lukav was definitely hero material. He just made some really bad choices...
Yngwie: Then again, I'm sure he thought long and hard about the best approach to strengthening Roanne before taking action.
Yngwie: That's why even after all that's happened, not many people seem to blame him. In fact, I mostly hear support for what he's done.
Erika: ...
Yngwie: Do you resent Lukav?
Erika: Not in the least! I wish he would've been more upfront with me about everything, but no—I could never bring myself to resent him.
Erika: I can't help the fact that some people do detest him...
Erika: Though we can't forget what his father did to the president's son either.
Erika: A most despicable act, if you ask me...
Learning the truth about Lukav's past, tucked away in his study, proved to be a shocking experience for everyone.
Erika: But even worse is the government that wouldn't lift a finger to help Luka's mom!
Yngwie: How about the federation that's taken advantage of Roanne all along?
Erika: They're just as guilty. If only they'd been more fair in their dealings with the Roanne government...
Erika: Hey, Dad? Where would you say this all really began?
Yngwie: Hard to say. I'm not sure it's even possible to trace this whole situation back to the root.
Yngwie: I can tell you one thing though—it's too soon to etch Lukav's name onto that gravestone.
Erika: Huh?
Vyrn's Voice: Guys!
Visiting the vacant land where Rire Village once stood, the crew waves at Erika and Yngwie.
Yngwie: You're here too, Andy?
Anderson: Yngy, I have something to tell you.
Yngwie: Likewise. It's possible we have the same thing in mind.
Lyria: Huh? What might that be?
Yngwie: Let's start with your business first.
Vyrn: We've decided on our day of departure. Thought we'd let you know.
Erika: So you guys are leaving, huh...
Erika: I'm sorry I didn't quite get to show you around. Then again, this island's not exactly great for sightseeing...
Lyria: It's okay... We're happy just to have gotten to know you, Erika!
Vyrn: Heheh! We always did wonder about Yngwie's daughter!
Anderson: Quite the daughter you have, Yngy. Though I never would've guessed.
Yngwie: There wasn't exactly time to explain.
Vyrn: Well then...
Lyria: ...
Vyrn: I guess we'll be sayin' goodbye to you too for now, Yngwie.
Yngwie: Heh...
Lyria: But it's not goodbye for good! We'll come back to visit every now and then!
Vyrn: Yeah! There's still to plenty to resolve in Oarlyegrande, so we might need your help again!
Erika: You can count me in too. Just say the word, and I'll be right there with you!
Lyria: We'll be sure to!
Anderson: ...
Yngwie: ...
Vyrn: Huh? What's with the funny looks, guys?
Anderson: About this shield...
Vyrn: Ah!
Anderson: It was stored in the floating fortress, just like Socialis.
Anderson: As we've all noticed by now, the two seem to be linked in some way.
Lyria: Yeah...
Vyrn: You mentioned that during our fight with Lukav.
Vyrn: Something about the shield bein' extra powerful against Socialis. What about it though?
Anderson: Yes, exactly. Though that was simply speculation on my part.
Anderson: An anti-Socialis weapon... Socialis's creators must have seen the need for a countermeasure against their own unpredictable beast.
Yngwie: A fair assumption. There's something else though...
Yngwie: Seems our shields are also capable of sensing Socialis's presence.
Vyrn: Oh yeah?
Erika: What do you mean? Where's all this coming from?
Yngwie: Hear me out. Think back to when Lukav was taken by Heinrich, only to then be stopped by the president.
Yngwie: We watched the explosion from the floating fortress, but I could still sense Socialis. Same with you, Andy?
Anderson: Yeah... I could tell Socialis was still there. Could feel it through the shield.
Erika: Wait, you mean...
Anderson: Chances are Lukav is still alive.
Vyrn: Wha!
Lyria: Erika...
Erika: ...!
Yngwie: Looks like my next order of business is to look for my "son."
Vyrn: "Son"? Just how many kids do you have, Yngwie?
Yngwie: Erika doted on Lukav like a big brother. So in a way, you could say he's my son.
Yngwie: And no child of mine would die so easily, even when caught in an explosion.
Yngwie: He must be all alone right now. Wish he had someone to keep him company...
Yngwie: I'd be glad to take on that role. It's time I finally did my job right as a father.
Erika: Dad...
Yngwie: The old hero goes out in search of his son!
Yngwie: How's that sound, (Captain)?
  1. Badass.
  2. Happy to keep traveling together.

Choose: Badass.
Vyrn: Wait, that means...
Yngwie: I'm gonna keep on keeping on with you guys.

Choose: Happy to keep traveling together.
Yngwie: Likewise. Glad you saw what I was getting at.
Continue 2
Vyrn: Hehe... Just when Rackam and Eugen went out to buy drinks for your farewell party.
Yngwie: Hahahah! Sorry about that! I can already picture their reactions!
Lyria: This is great news! Happy to hear it, Yngwie!
Lyria: But what about Erika? You just reunited with her...
Erika: It's all right... Do what you have to, Dad. Besides, I want Luka back too.
Yngwie: I promise to bring him back in one piece.
Yngwie: On that note, Andy—
Anderson: Yeah, I'll stick around since I'll able to sense him if he returns.
Anderson: Not like I had any intention of leaving Roanne to begin with.
Vyrn: So the plan is for Shield General to stay behind, while Yngwie goes out on the search?
Vyrn: Not a bad idea. Who knows? We could luck out and find Commander Dude in no time at all.
Yngwie: That's the idea.
Lyria: Happy to have your help, Anderson!
Anderson: Roanne could really use him right now.
Erika: Never expected that to come out of your mouth... What's your angle?
Anderson: You seen the Rie Famille soldiers lately? Ever since learning of his plan, the look in their eyes tells me their trust in Lukav hasn't wavered in the slightest.
Erika: Well..
Even now, plenty of Rie Famille members stand by everything Lukav did.
Anderson: This is in spite of all the danger that his plan subjected them to.
Anderson: If that group of people continues on without their leader, who knows what they may end up doing.
Anderson: Which is why I figure we need Lukav, to lead those still discontent with the government down the right path this time.
Yngwie: Yeah, he's got a certain charisma that draws people to him.
Yngwie: He'll be a positive force for change when he comes back. Of that, I have no doubt.
Yngwie: Not to mention we promised to go drinking together. I'm holding him to it. He and I have got plenty to talk about.
Erika: Huh? When did you make that promise with him? And what could you possibly have to talk about?
Yngwie: Hah... You might be my daughter, but that's a secret between us boys.
Erika: Aw, c'mon now.
Yngwie: Now begins the adventure to find my son! Fingers crossed that I find him sooner than later!
Vyrn: Heheh! You can count on our help!
Lyria: Mm-hm! That's for sure!
Fully confident that Lukav still has a life ahead of him in Roanne...
Yngwie climbs aboard the Grandcypher once more...
In order to seek out his son—the brother of his beloved daughter—and bring him home.
