Footprints on Sacred Ground - Opening

At the Knickknack Shack, (Captain) and the crew meet Johann the folklorist, who wants to investigate a certain island, and agree to join him as his bodyguards. Their destination is Lognos, a legendary island. When they arrive, they start exploring right away, but Lyria senses a primal beast, and it makes her feel ill.

(Captain) and the crew arrive at the Knickknack Shack for a job request.
Sierokarte: Hello, everyone! This is Johann, your new client!
Johann: Nice to meet you. Just so you know, I'm a folklorist.
Johann: I will be investigating the island of Lognos, so I'm looking to hire some protection.
Sierokarte: Great! Your protectors are right here.
Vyrn: That's right! Just leave it to us, Mr. Scholar!
Johann: I really appreciate it. I didn't think I'd find anyone who could actually fight primal beasts!
Johann: But Sierokarte is full of surprises... When she agreed to introduce me to some veteran skyfarers, I didn't think they'd be so young!
Vyrn: Luckily for you, we're talented beyond our years!
Lyria: That's right! (Captain) and the others are all really reliable!
Johann: Forgive me. I wasn't doubting your ability. If Sierokarte is vouching for you, then I trust her judgment.
Sierokarte: And you're right to do so! These people have earned the Siero stamp of approval!
Johann: Well then, everyone, thank you in advance! Let's be off at once.
Sierokarte: Take care!
Johann: Thanks, Sierokarte. See you soon.
Sierokarte: Looking forward to it!
Vyrn: So what exactly do you plan to do in Lognos?
Johann: Well, the island was only discovered recently, so a nearby country put out a request to start exploring it.
Johann: A recon team flew out and sketched a panoramic view of the island, and believe it or not...
Johann: It's the spitting image of an island mentioned in old historical documents!
Lyria: Historical documents? You mean written records of the past?
Johann: Right. Well, not really records of the past, per se... More like records of old legends like the creation myth.
Johann: At any rate isn't this amazing? We'll be the first people to set foot on this legendary island!
Vyrn: Since you put it that way, that sounds awesome! A legendary island... Maybe it's full of secret treasure!
Johann: Perhaps. No one's been there until recently after all.
Johann: I don't know where or how the island was hiding before that, but I'm glad we get to be its first visitors.
Johann: But I don't know what will happen on the island either.
Johann: It could be good or bad... In the worst case, we might even run into a primal beast.
Vyrn: That's true. But we can take care of anything!
Lyria: An island featured in old stories... I'm kind of excited!
Johann acts as navigator until an island at last comes into view. The sight of its ruins sends a shiver of excitement through (Captain) and the crew.
Suppressing their overflowing excitement, they land the ship in a seemingly suitable place and disembark.
Johann: So this is the legendary Lognos...
Johann: Amazing... It really does look just like the illustrations in the historical documents.
Vyrn: Hey now, this place is covered in snow! Do you really think there's any treasure here?
Johann: I suppose we'll just have to explore and find out.
Lyria: Urgh...
Vyrn: Huh? What's up, Lyria?
Lyria: I don't feel so good...
Vyrn: Whoa there... Are you feeling skysick?
Lyria: Not quite...
Lyria: But there's definitely a primal beast on this island.
Lyria: I can sense it... and it feels so gross...
Johann: You can sense a primal beast? Can you tell where it is?
Lyria: Hmm... It's giving off a vague presence... It's a weird feeling...
Vyrn: Are you sure you're okay? Maybe you should go back to the ship.
Lyria: I should be fine. I'll get used to it after a while, I think.
Johann: Don't force yourself. If it gets too hard, we can leave the island.
Lognos, a quiet island covered in snow...
There seems to be something strange here, and it makes the crew uneasy.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 1: Island of Myth - Episode 1

(Captain) and the crew arrive at Lognos. Lyria slowly recovers from her response to the primal beast, enabling our heroes to continue exploring.

(Captain) and the crew have arrived at the mysterious, never-before-seen island of Lognos.
Soon after they land, Lyria feels disconcerted by a strange presence.
Johann: Are you all right, Lyria?
Lyria: Yeah... I'm getting used to it little by little.
Johann: I think the ruins we saw earlier are in that direction.
Johann: I wonder who left those ruins behind? Were they skydwellers... or perhaps Astrals?
Johann: It feels strange knowing that there's a permanent mark that someone left behind.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 1: Island of Myth - Episode 1: Scene 2

(Captain) and the crew advance through the snow. Back to normal, Lyria starts a snowball fight with Vyrn, but a monster hiding in the snow interrupts them.

Vyrn: Ugh... Snow is so annoying! It's cold and it covers everything...
Lyria: Oh, it's not so bad. I love snow!
Vyrn: But aren't you freezing wearing that?
Lyria: I'm sure moving around will warm me right up!
Lyria: Watch this! You can squeeze the snow together like this... and then...
Lyria: Take that!
Vyrn: Ouch! What do you think you're doing?
Lyria: A snowball fight of course!
Vyrn: Why, you little... Two can play at that game!
Johann: Aww, you two are so cute. And I'm glad you're feeling better, Lyria.
Johann: By the way, not to spoil the fun, but—
Vyrn: Take this!
Monster: Groar!
Vyrn: Watch out!
Johann: Yep. Just as I thought, there were monsters using the snow as camouflage...
Johann: Not seeing people around is one thing, but I knew there'd be some kind of life around here.
Monster: Groar!
Vyrn: Hey! You better not be giving me lip!
Monster: Grargh!
Lyria: Oh no! We better help him!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 1: Island of Myth - Episode 2

Having defeated the monster, (Captain) and the crew move on to find two people arguing. This surprises them, considering the island was supposed to be uninhabited, so they decide to find out who they are.

Vyrn: Well... That monster was meaner than expected.
Lyria: Are you okay, Vyrn? Are you hurt?
Vyrn: Yeah, right! Don't underestimate dragons, little lady!
Johann: What a reliable little fellow you are!
Johann: Oh? It looks like there are people over there...
The others follow Johann's gaze and see two people who seem to be arguing.
Human Woman: This sucks. Why do I have to get stuck with you of all people?
Draph Man: Just shut up. Ever since we got here, you've done nothing but blather on and on.
Human Woman: Can you blame me? I know the higher-ups decided this, but that doesn't mean I have to like it!
Draph Man: I know what you mean. I deserve the right to choose my own partner.
Human Woman: Excuse me? I'm the one who should be saying that!
Draph Man: You just have to have the last word, don't you?
Human Woman: Fine! If you want silence, I'll let my weapon do the talking!
The woman readies her spear, and the man holds up his scythe in response.
Draph Man: Bring it on... even though I'm sure you know about my body.
Human Woman: Yeah, yeah. It was custom made. See if I care!
Human Woman: Hyah!
(Captain) and the crew watch from afar as the two begin to clash violently.
Johann: What are they doing here?
Vyrn: Hey, Mr. Scholar! I thought you said this island was uninhabited!
Johann: As far as I know, no one else has been granted permission to land here.
Vyrn: Well, for now let's go find out who they are!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 1: Island of Myth - Episode 2: Scene 2

The Draph man swings his scythe to knock down the spear-wielding human woman, and then the man leaves. Just then, a nearby monster attacks the woman, and (Captain) and the crew rush to her aid.

Draph Man: Taste this!
Human Woman: Hey! That hurt!
Lyria: Oh! Are you okay?
Draph Man: ...
Human Woman: Hey! Wait up, Vaseraga!
Monster: Grrr...
Lyria: Oh no! That monster is going to attack that woman!
Human Woman: Stupid monster! Get out of my way!
Vyrn: Let's back her up!
Human Woman: Huh? Who are you people? Mind your own business!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 1: Island of Myth - Episode 3

When Zeta is attacked by monsters, (Captain) and the crew rush to her aid, but she's not exactly grateful. However after thinking for a bit, Zeta offers to show them the way to ruins.

(Captain) and the crew encounter a woman on the supposedly uninhabited island.
They try to help her defeat the monster, but the woman, who calls herself Zeta, isn't happy about it.
Zeta: Thanks... I guess.
Vyrn: What's with the attitude? We were just trying to help!
Zeta: And I don't recall asking for it.
Vyrn: Excuse me? You weren't exactly tearing it up, Red.
Zeta: I could beat a monster like that one-handed!
Monster: Groar!
Vyrn: Whoa! There's still more of 'em!
Lyria: Oh no! Vyrn, look out!
Monster: Gragh!
Zeta: See?
Vyrn: Impressive...
Johann: And who might you be? I believe this island is off limits to anyone without express permission from the country.
Zeta: Oh, I got permission. You just didn't know about it.
Johann: So they gave out permission to someone other than me? How interesting.
Zeta: So... Johann, right? Based on your clothes, I'm guessing you're a scholar.
Johann: That's none of your business.
Zeta: No need to get aggressive. You're heading for the ruins, right? Well, I know how to get there, and I wouldn't mind showing you the way.
Vyrn: Hmm... What do you think, Mr. Scholar?
Johann: We'll run our own investigation. Feel free to do whatever you like on your own.
Zeta: What? But going on your own will take longer.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 1: Island of Myth - Episode 3: Scene 2

After realizing that he was not the first to arrive on the legendary island, Johann's mood suddenly sours. Zeta tries to clear the air by striking up a conversation, but Johann remains curt with her.

Johann: ...
Lyria: Wow... Johann seems really angry...
Vyrn: Well, you heard how excited he was about being one of the island's first visitors.
Johann: ...
Vyrn: You know, this might be the most hostility I've ever felt on a journey.
Zeta: Hey, Johann.
Johann: What do you want?
Zeta: I want you to lighten up, for one thing. I'm going out of my way to help you here!
Johann: I don't remember asking.
Zeta: I'm every bit as tough as I look, you know. Under the right circumstances, I could even fight off a primal beast.
Johann: If it comes to that, I have the captain and the others here with me. They'll handle it.
Zeta: You must be kidding! You came here to fight a primal beast?
Zeta: Does that mean... you people are from the Erste Empire?
Vyrn: How dare you! We would never associate with those people!
Johann: Indeed. These guys are actually enemies of the empire.
Johann: And, just so we're clear, we didn't come here to defeat primal beasts.
Zeta: Really? In that case you must be skyfarers.
Zeta: And that means we're not rivals, so there's no problem with me helping you.
Zeta: So cheer up already! Okay?
Monster: Groar!
Zeta: I'll even help you defeat this monster!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 1: Island of Myth - Episode 4

Zeta tries to speak with Johann, who's still grumpy. She asks him various questions, but he only responds with vague answers. When a monster suddenly appears, Johann flatly asks Zeta to defeat it.

Zeta: Back to what I was saying, Johann.
Johann: What is it this time?
Lyria: Ugh... Now I'm sure Johann is upset.
Vyrn: Yeah. I mean, I get how he feels, but still.
Zeta: Okay, I'll be direct! Is there a primal beast on this island, Johann?
Johann: Who knows?
Zeta: Don't play dumb! If you went out of your way to bring this captain with you, then there's gotta be one around here!
Johann: There might be.
Zeta: I see... And yet you chose a captain this young...
Zeta: Why do I think (Captain) isn't just a skilled fighter? There's obviously more to it than that.
Johann: What's it to you?
Zeta: Aww, you're still so prickly! Are you still upset about the first visitor thing?
Johann: Maybe. Maybe not.
Johann: Oh, look. A monster. I sure hope the big strong Zeta will save us.
Zeta: Excuse me? Is that any way to ask for a favor?
Monster: Grrr...
Zeta: Oh, shut up, you! Can't you see that I'm in the middle of something?

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 1: Island of Myth - Episode 4: Scene 2

Zeta boasts that monsters are no problem for her. She tells Johann about a shortcut that would save them half a day's worth of walking at the cost of more monster encounters.

Zeta: Monsters like that are hardly even a warmup.
Johann: Wow. How amazing.
Zeta: How about I do something really amazing for you?
Johann: How about you don't?
Zeta: There's a shortcut to the ruins. And it's right over here.
Johann: ...!
Zeta: I think it'll shave half a day off the trip. Wouldn't you like that?
Johann: Ugh...
Zeta: Monsters are way more likely to show up though.
Monster: Groar!
Zeta: Like that one.
Zeta: But you'll be fine! You've got me and good ol' Captain (Captain) here!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 1: Island of Myth - Episode 4: Scene 3

With Zeta's help (Captain) and the crew arrive at the ruins. Even Johann, who was grumpy about not being the first to arrive, cheers right up when he sees them. And the crew heads inside, not knowing what lies in wait.

Johann: This must be the place!
Lyria: That's right! We made it to the ruins!
Vyrn: Oh... You can almost smell the treasure here!
Johann: Incredible...
Zeta: You were going to take a detour around the basin, right?
Johann: Yes, I was going to take the long way around!
Zeta: Well, look how much time I've saved you! You can thank me by... oh, I don't know... telling me about the primal beast.
Johann: Too bad I don't know anything.
Zeta: How depressing! And I was sure you knew so much...
Johann: I'm confident that we'll figure something out once we check out the ruins!
Zeta: Make sure to let me know if you do. And don't worry. I haven't been inside the ruins.
Zeta: It'd be a pain to have a scholar for an enemy anyways.
Johann: Wow! So these are the legendary ruins of Lognos.
Lyria: Looks like Johann doesn't hear anything Zeta's saying.
Although not the first visitor to the island, Johann finally smiles when he catches sight of the ruins.
(Captain) and company hurry after him into the ruins. But they have no idea of what awaits them.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 2: Memory Slumbers in the Ruins - Episode 1

Johann begins investigating the ruins. Zeta talks to Lyria, who has started keeping a travel diary. Johann pops out of nowhere, gushing about the inner workings of the ruins and then dives back into his investigation.

Johann's expedition into the ruins has finally begun.
(Captain) and company idly watch Johann as he busily scurries to and fro.
Lyria: Let's see... "The ruins are made of stone and feel somehow familiar..."
Zeta: Huh? Hey, Lyria, whatcha writing?
Lyria: I started a diary of our travels. There are just so many new things to write about lately!
Zeta: Oh, let me see! "When we got to the island, me and Vyrn had a fun snowball fight."
Zeta: "When Johann saw Zeta, he got mad and made a face like this..." Wow! You're quite an artist, Lyria! That's exactly what he looked like!
Zeta: You've just got to let me give this thing a closer read some time.
Lyria: Sure thing! It's loaded with so many fun stories!
Vyrn: Hmm? Hold on a sec... Where did Mr. Scholar go?
Lyria: What? He was over there a second ago... Johann!
Johann: Did you find something?
Lyria: Hey! Don't sneak up on me like that!
Vyrn: Whoa! Mr. Scholar! What were you even doing in there?
Johann: These ruins are amazing! The technologies used seem to be about the same as those used by Skydwellers, but it doesn't even matter!
Johann: By the way I think that was a sewer back there!
Johann: And its design was so advanced! Even without people around all these years, it still seems to work!
Johann: But how could that be? Oh, there's just so much to investigate!
Zeta: He was such a grumpy goat earlier, and now look at him!
Johann: Thank you so much, Zeta!
Zeta: Sure thing! But if you find out anything about a primal beast, be sure to let me know!
Johann: Okay!
Vyrn: Just look at him! I'm sure he'll tell us whether we want to know or not!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 2: Memory Slumbers in the Ruins - Episode 1: Scene 2

Johann returns from exploring the ruins. He prepares to launch into a lengthy explanation of the ruins, but Zeta only wants to hear about primal beasts. The moment Johann says that there is definitely a primal beast living in the ruins, a monster attacks.

Johann: Well... I'm finally back.
Zeta: So learn anything new?
Johann: I did indeed. First of all, I believe these ruins were originally built during the War.
Lyria: Let me write that down... "Built during the War..."
Johann: Also, judging from the architecture and construction materials, it would appear this place doesn't use any Astral technology.
Johann: It's unclear why they used our technologies, but it's clear that Astrals in fact built this place. Their ingenuity is everywhere...
Johann: Like, for example, the sewers I mentioned earlier...
Zeta: Sorry to interrupt your whole spiel, but I really only want to know about primal beasts.
Johann: Oh. Right. I guess I got a little carried away there.
Zeta: That's fine, but I'm just kind of in a hurry.
Johann: Ahem. To get straight to the point... There is a primal beast in these ruins.
Zeta: Wow... Is it dangerous?
Johann: Could be. I haven't yet investigated it fully.
Zeta: I see. Well, that was still really helpful!
Zeta: As thanks—
Monster: Groar!
Zeta: I'll help you clobber this guy!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 2: Memory Slumbers in the Ruins - Episode 2

Johann and Zeta suddenly disappear. Then, as if trading places with them, Vaseraga shows up. After killing some time with (Captain) and the crew, he wanders off again. Just then, Johann reappears and starts explaining the creation myth and its connection to the ruins, but he's interrupted by an inexplicable tremor.

Lyria: Huh? Where's Zeta?
Vyrn: Hey! Mr. Scholar's gone off somewhere too!
Lyria: I don't like the sound of that. There are monsters around here...
Vaseraga: I couldn't agree more.
Vyrn: Whoa! Where'd you come from?
Lyria: Weren't you the one who was fighting with Zeta?
Vaseraga: That I was. But I'm not her enemy, and I'm not about to turn my scythe on you people either.
Vyrn: Then what do you want with us?
Vaseraga: Nothing. I just happened to be taking a break here.
Vaseraga: Where did Zeta run off to? Damn it... Did she forget our code? How could she bring children here?
Lyria: Your code?
Vaseraga: Oh, it's nothing. I already said too much. Forget it.
Vyrn: (So what did Spike come here for, you think?)
Lyria: (Hmmm... I have no idea...)
Vaseraga: ...
Vaseraga continues to sit there in silence.
And then he suddenly gets up and walks off as if on cue.
Before long the distant cry of a monster echoes through the ruins and then a bit more time passes.
Johann: I'm back! Goodness, I completely lost track of time! These ruins are just so wonderful.
Lyria: Oh, Johann! You really do love ruins, don't you?
Johann: I do! Particularly these ones! I mean, they're the stuff of legends... literally!
Johann: I keep finding relief carvings matching the ones written about in the old documents...
Johann: These are the moments that make studying myths and legends worth it!
Vyrn: You know, your eyes are practically sparkling!
Lyria: What kinds of myths are there about this island?
Lyria: I'd really like to write about them in my diary!
Johann: Well then, let's start by discussing the beginning of the world.
Johann: There are several variations on the creation myth. Some say there was one creator. Others say there were more.
Johann: But as far as I can tell, these ruins were inspired by a belief in the latter idea.
Lyria: I see...
Johann: It is said that once upon a time the sky and the islands didn't yet exist, and then two creators came along...
Vyrn: Whoa! What's happening?
Johann: ...!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 2: Memory Slumbers in the Ruins - Episode 2: Scene 2

Lyria suddenly senses a primal beast, but it feels strange and intimidating to her. Just then, the crew hears Zeta yelling and decides to go find her.

Vyrn: What the?
Lyria: This presence... It's a primal beast!
Vyrn: Say what? What's going on here?
Johann: A primal beast? Could it really be true?
Johann: Where? Where is it, Lyria?
Lyria: No time for that now! We need to get out of here!
Vyrn: Seriously? The Lyria I know is braver than that!
Lyria: The primal beast's presence... There's something strange about it!
Johann: What do you mean?
Lyria: I can't explain it, but—
Zeta's Voice: Damn you!
Zeta's voice echoes through the ruins, accompanied by the sounds of combat.
Vyrn: Wasn't that Red?
Johann: Don't tell me she's trying to fight the primal beast... Let's go, (Captain)!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 2: Memory Slumbers in the Ruins - Episode 3

The crew follows Zeta's scream to find her fighting the Wind God, a primal beast. Her strongest attack doesn't even cause the Wind God to flinch. (Captain) and the crew rush to her aid.

???: The... seal breaker... has appeared...
Zeta: So you're the Wind God... Good thing Vaseraga isn't here! The glory of taking you out will be all mine!
Zeta: Spear of Arvess! Give form to my faith and become a piercing fang!
In response to her words, Zeta's spear begins to glow.
Wind God: How bright... this is...
Zeta: Bet you've never seen anything like it, huh? Our weapons can defeat you, primal beast!
Zeta: And the early bird gets the worm! Eat this!
Zeta's attack sends the Wind God crashing into the stone wall, which crumbles into a cloud of dust.
Wind God: Sky... dweller...
Zeta: No way! Dang, you're tough! At least pretend it hurt, would you?
Lyria: Zeta! Why are you fighting that primal beast alone?
Johann: So that's the primal beast that was sealed away here...
Vyrn: This is no time to admire the view! Let's help her, (Captain)!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 2: Memory Slumbers in the Ruins - Episode 3: Scene 2

(Captain) and the crew try to join the battle with the Wind God, but Zeta tells them to escape. Meanwhile, all the noise attracts a swarm of monsters.

Vyrn: Red! Are you okay?
Zeta: Stay back! Leave this to me and just get out of here!
Vyrn: You know we can't do that! Let's go, (Captain)!
Wind God: Come closer... skydwellers...
Monster: Groar!
Vyrn: Look! A bunch of monsters are starting to gather!
Johann: I'm not surprised, with all the noise we're making. Let's start by taking care of these smaller problems, shall we?

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 2: Memory Slumbers in the Ruins - Episode 4

The Wind God proves to be a worthy opponent for Zeta. (Captain) and the crew try to help, but she says she has to fight him alone. She adds a remark about the beast reminding her of someone she knows, and then turns to face him again.

Zeta: Hah!
Wind God: The... skydwellers... have sharpened... their claws...
Zeta: That composure is really starting to get annoying... Are you seriously this sturdy?
Vyrn: Hey! Are you okay, Red?
Zeta: I'm just fine! Say, can you guys handle primal beasts?
Vyrn: You bet we can! (Captain) here has fought tons of 'em!
Zeta: Then take Lyria and get out of here! Protect her!
Zeta: Sorry, but I have to fight this one alone!
Lyria: Oh no you don't! That's way too dangerous!
Zeta: Forgive me, but I have my reasons.
Zeta: Besides, he kind of reminds me of this guy I know, and it's pissing me off.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 2: Memory Slumbers in the Ruins - Episode 4: Scene 2

The crew refuses to run away from the Wind God, and Zeta sighs in exasperation. Concerned for her safety, (Captain) and the crew join the fight.

Zeta: You people just refuse to run, huh?
Vyrn: Well, it's just... we can't abandon you, Red...
Lyria: That's right! We'll be so sick with worry that... um... our food won't taste as good!
Zeta: You're too nice for your own good! Normal people would take me up on my offer and run!
Wind God: Come closer... and I shall...
Vyrn: Nope! We're not going anywhere! Come on, (Captain)!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 2: Memory Slumbers in the Ruins - Episode 4: Scene 3

All of a sudden, the Wind God approaches Lyria. He sniffs her, says something about not having enough power, and leaves.

Wind God: Oh... You there... girl...
The Wind God approaches Lyria.
Lyria: Stay away from me!
Vyrn: Look out, Lyria!
Zeta: Damn you!
Johann: Lyria!
Wind God: This... aroma...
Wind God: Not enough power... My counterpart...
Lyria: ...!
Vyrn: L-Lyria!
Lyria collapses, and the others rush over to her.
Zeta: Are you okay, Lyria?
Lyria: I... I was so scared...
Vyrn: What a creep. He just sniffed you and ran off...
The Wind God, the primal beast sleeping in the ruins, has suddenly vanished.
(Captain) and the crew are left to wonder what he sensed in Lyria and where he has gone.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 3: Misfortune Invited - Episode 1

Shocked by the Wind God's strange behavior, Lyria collapses. Meanwhile, Johann begins to think about the Wind God.

The Wind God's strange behavior leaves Lyria shocked and sends her tumbling to the ground.
Meanwhile, Johann thinks about the vanished Wind God.
Johann: Hmmm... I wonder where that primal beast went...
Zeta: Are you okay, Lyria?
Lyria: I just feel a little sick, but I should be able to walk again after a little rest...

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 3: Misfortune Invited - Episode 1: Scene 2

Lyria rests for a while but still can't stand up. The others decide that staying in the area too long is dangerous, so (Captain) carries Lyria. Just then, they hear a strange sound in the distance, and Zeta heads off alone to find the source.

Lyria rests for a while but still can't stand up.
The others feel that staying in the area too long is dangerous, so (Captain) ends up carrying Lyria.
Zeta: This is why I told you guys to run... Are you sure you're okay?
Lyria: Probably... This has never happened before, just so you know.
Lyria: Eek!
Johann: There's that sound again!
Vyrn: Is that primal beast at it again?
Zeta: It's him... Vaseraga is fighting him!
Vyrn: Hey! Don't run off on your own!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 3: Misfortune Invited - Episode 2

(Captain) and the crew follow the sound and find Vaseraga battling the Thunder God. As Vaseraga attempts to slash at the Thunder God, she lets out a roar and a flash of lightning, but he shrugs off the attack like it was nothing.

Vaseraga: So you're the primal beast that slept in these ruins... The Thunder God, if I'm not mistaken.
Thunder God: Get out of the way... Let me through...
Vaseraga: Great Scythe, Grynoth! Drink the blood of the primal beast to...
The Thunder God points a finger at Vaseraga. Electricity gathers at the tip.
And then a blinding flash of light arcs toward Vaseraga with a roar and fries his body.
Vaseraga: ...!
Vyrn: Hey! That can't be good! That looked like a direct hit!
Vaseraga: Oof!
Vaseraga is slowed only for a moment by the apparently vicious attack.
He brandishes his scythe and surges toward the Thunder God.
Vaseraga: Hah!
Lyria: I can't believe it!
Vyrn: Are you kidding me? That guy's totally fine!
Zeta: Oh, you don't have to worry about him. We have a bigger problem here...
Thunder God: So you can pierce my skin... Cursed skydweller...
Johann: That's a totally different primal beast.
Lyria: What? But I'm sure I only sensed one!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 3: Misfortune Invited - Episode 2: Scene 2

Vaseraga takes a hit from the Thunder God and doesn't even flinch. In fact he challenges her to hit him harder. His augmented body apparently protects him. Their noisy battle attracts a swarm of monsters that attack (Captain) and company.

Thunder God: Impertinent creature... Too stiff... Unamusing...
Vaseraga: So you wield the power of lightning, hey, Thunder God?
Vaseraga: Works for me. I've been wanting to try this for a while...
Vaseraga: Primal beast Thunder God! Burn me with all your might! I will prove to you that I can endure it all.
Vyrn: Whoa! Is this guy nuts!
Zeta: I'm telling you, he'll be fine. His body's been augmented.
Zeta: Besides we have more important things to—
Monster: Groar!
Zeta: Thanks for making all the noise, Vaseraga! Now we have to deal with all these monsters!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 3: Misfortune Invited - Episode 3

Vaseraga unleashes a full-power attack that staggers the Thunder God. As they continue their intense battle, the Thunder God suddenly loses interest in Vaseraga and focuses on Lyria.

Vaseraga: Hah!
Thunder God: Curse you!
The Thunder God reels from Vaseraga's attack, but then she notices Lyria.
Thunder God: Oh... This aroma...
Lyria: ...!
Vyrn: Whoa! She's looking this way!
Johann: It's just like the Wind God... These primal beasts are really interested in Lyria for some reason!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 3: Misfortune Invited - Episode 3: Scene 2

As the Thunder God gazes at Lyria, Vaseraga kicks her hard in the stomach. The Thunder God turns back to Vaseraga to express her lack of interest in him. The crew tries to help him, but monsters suddenly block the way.

Thunder God: Found... you...
Lyria: Eek!
Vaseraga: Hey.
Thunder God: ...!
As the Thunder God stares at Lyria, Vaseraga lands a kick to her stomach.
Caught off guard, the Thunder God is knocked back. She gets up and faces Vaseraga once more.
Vaseraga: What's so special about the blue-haired girl, Thunder God?
Thunder God: I have no interest in you... fool...
Vaseraga: You're turning your back on me? Looks like I've been underestimated.
Thunder God: You dare to stand against me?
Vyrn: We should help him! Come on, (Captain)!
Monster: Groar!
Zeta: Looks like we have to wipe out these guys first!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 3: Misfortune Invited - Episode 4

After clearing out the monsters, the crew heads over to help Vaseraga fight the Thunder God.

Zeta: All right! That takes care of that!
Vyrn: Awesome! Now let's go help Spike!
Vyrn: Come on, (Captain)!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 3: Misfortune Invited - Episode 4: Scene 2

(Captain) and the crew rush to support Vaseraga, who appears to be struggling. He insists that he doesn't need help, but the crew stands with him to fight.

Zeta: Looks like this fight's turning out to be more interesting than you expected.
Vaseraga: I don't need your help.
Zeta: No need to be shy, big guy. I even brought reinforcements.
Vyrn: Yeah! We're gonna help you fight!
Vaseraga: The children from earlier? Zeta, have you forgotten our code?
Zeta: Of course not! (Captain) here is pretty darn reliable, if I say so myself!
Vaseraga: We can't involve outsiders, especially if they're children...
Zeta: Okay, okay, I get it! Just watch!
Zeta: It doesn't look like we have time to chat like this anyway.
Thunder God: Wind God... Hurry...
Vyrn: Here she comes! Get ready, (Captain)!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 3: Misfortune Invited - Episode 4: Scene 3

Just when it seems the Thunder God is defeated, the Wind God appears. The two line up and demonstrate their true power. Stronger than ever, the Thunder God directs her lightning at Lyria, but Vaseraga shields her just in time. (Captain)'s crew retreats to regroup.

Vyrn: Did we get her?
Lyria: Not yet! It looks like she's planning something!
Thunder God: You have come...
Zeta: Yikes!
Vyrn: It's the Wind God!
Wind God: Unshackled... Let us use... our true power...
Thunder God: Cinders... you'll be...
Wind & Thunder Gods: Yesss...
With the Wind God at her side, the Thunder God's electricity crackles even more fiercely. And it seems to be changing direction.
Lyria: No!
The Thunder God's electric attack arcs directly at Lyria.
Vaseraga: Oof!
Black smoke rises from the giant body that has shielded Lyria from the blast.
Vaseraga's legs buckle slightly, but he quickly rights himself.
Zeta: Hey, Vaseraga! Are you seriously going to collapse on me now?
Vaseraga: Run!
Vyrn: Huh?
Vaseraga: Argh!
Vaseraga: Their power is far greater than before! And they're aiming at that girl! Take her and go, Zeta!
Lyria: ...!
Zeta: Fine! But you better not touch the Wind God! I saw him first, got it?
Zeta: We should be safe here... at least for now.
Lyria: Ugh... I'm sorry...
Lyria: Those primal beasts... They were after me...
Lyria: No primal beast has ever looked at me with such... hostility.
Lyria: I was so scared that I couldn't move...
Vyrn: Hey now... You okay, Lyria?
Zeta: Poor thing. It's okay. Your captain's got it all under control.
Zeta: And I'm here too. Don't you worry.
Lyria: Do you think Vaseraga is okay?
Zeta: Yeah... Knowing him, he's probably just fine.
Johann: Why were they targeting Lyria? I need to look into this...
Zeta: Please do. I absolutely need to defeat it alone, no matter what.
Zeta: You know, Lyria... I feel awkward saying this in front of you, but I'm glad I came to this island.
The two primal beasts directed their hostility squarely at Lyria.
(Captain) cradles Lyria as she trembles, and they begin their escape from the ruins.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 4: The Awoken - Episode 1

(Captain) and the crew flee from the Wind and Thunder Gods. As they head for the exit, Vaseraga appears. Lyria is concerned about him, but Zeta assures her that she doesn't need to worry because his body has been augmented.

(Captain) and the crew escape from the Wind and Thunder Gods.
Concerned for Lyria's health, they run toward the entrance to the ruins, hoping to return to the airship.
Vyrn: Which way is the entrance?
Johann: They don't appear to be chasing us.
Zeta: Yeah, with Vaseraga keeping them company, we should be fine for the time being.
Vyrn: I guess we're safe for now...
Vaseraga: Looks that way.
Zeta: Whoa! Don't scare me like that!
Lyria: Vaseraga... Are you okay?
Vaseraga: Yes. Thanks to this body of mine...
Zeta: His body's been augmented. I imagine it would take a great deal more than a run-of-the-mill attack to hurt him.
Vaseraga: ...
Zeta: But this one was a little rough, huh?
Vaseraga: Your worry is wasted on me.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 4: The Awoken - Episode 1: Scene 2

Johann asks Zeta and Vaseraga why they came to the island. Zeta says they came to defeat primal beasts, but Vaseraga scolds her for saying too much.

Johann: Come to think of it... What brings you two to the island?
Zeta: We're here to defeat the primal beasts, of course.
Vaseraga: Hey. Don't say too much.
Zeta: Oh, it's fine! I won't break the confidentiality agreement!
Vaseraga: Even that's saying too much!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 4: The Awoken - Episode 2

Johann can't hide his surprise at how powerful Vaseraga and Zeta are. Zeta starts talking about how Vaseraga's body is augmented due to an injury in his past, but Vaseraga quickly silences her.

Johann: I must say, you really surprised me back there, Vaseraga.
Johann: I thought Zeta's strength was incredible enough as it is, but you're something else.
Zeta: A lot happened to you when you were young, right? Didn't you get seriously injured in battle?
Vaseraga: Plenty happened, but all that matters is that my body's been augmented.
Zeta: You tinkered with it like crazy, huh? And did really drastic stuff? And almost died?
Vaseraga: You talk too much.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 4: The Awoken - Episode 2: Scene 2

Vyrn says that Vaseraga is scary because his face is hidden. Vaseraga offers to show Vyrn what's under his helmet. Everyone is spooked, but Zeta says it's the only gag he knows. Upset that his routine was interrupted, Vaseraga goes off to sulk.

Vyrn: That Vaseraga guy's kind of scary, isn't he?
Lyria: You think so? He doesn't seem bad to me... He did protect me after all.
Vyrn: I don't know how to explain it... It's just hard to tell what he's thinking.
Vyrn: And I can't even see his face through that helmet of his.
Vaseraga: You want to see my face? After years of rituals and battles, it's not exactly pretty.
Vaseraga: It terrifies most people, so I eventually just decided to hide it from view.
Vaseraga: But do you want to see anyway?
Lyria: Huh?
Vyrn: Uh... After what you just said, I don't think there's a soul alive who would say yes to that question.
Vaseraga: No need to be shy. I mean, we've been through so much together...
Lyria: What? Hold on! I'm scared! Say something, (Captain)!
Vaseraga: Don't worry. I'm just kidding.
Zeta: Yep. That's the one joke he knows.
Vaseraga: ...!
Johann: Hey, Vaseraga, where are you going?
Zeta: He just hates it when I interrupt his favorite little routine. He's probably sulking.
Lyria: What? He... sulks?
Vyrn: Gimme a break... For a guy with a rock-solid body, his heart sure is fragile.
Zeta: But he's not a scary guy, at least not personality-wise.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 4: The Awoken - Episode 3

Zeta asks Johann if the Wind and Thunder Gods have any weaknesses, and he replies that he'll let everyone know if he finds out.

Zeta: So what have you learned about the Wind and Thunder Gods? Preferably anything about a weakness.
Johann: Let's see... I've gathered quite a bit of information.
Johann: Once I finish organizing it, I'll let you know.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 4: The Awoken - Episode 3: Scene 2

Johann asks Lyria to explain what she sensed from the primal beasts. Lyria says that, though the Wind and Thunder God seem separate, she only senses one primal beast. Johann seems to realize something, and they continue talking as they walk.

Johann: First of all, I have a question for our resident primal beast specialist, Miss Lyria.
Lyria: Me?
Johann: That's right. Sometimes you need more than just documents. I'd like to ask you exactly what it is you felt.
Lyria: Hmm... It was just, I don't know, weird.
Lyria: This island has two primal beasts, the Wind God and the Thunder God, but I've only felt one presence here.
Zeta: Whoa. You can sense primal beasts?
Johann: I see. Then it's just as I thought...
Vaseraga: Have you discovered something, boy?
Johann: It's all connected...
Johann: Let's walk and talk. It's not safe to stay here long.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 4: The Awoken - Episode 4

Johann explains that the Wind God and Thunder God are actually two parts of a whole. Based on records left by the Astrals, he learned that the primal beast was split into two halves out of fear.

Johann: Basically, the Wind God and Thunder God are two halves of a single primal beast.
Vyrn: I don't quite get it...
Johann: A single primal beast with multiple bodies... It's unusual but not unheard of.
Johann: There was a case where a single primal beast was proven to have not just a few, but a whole swarm of bodies.
Zeta: Wow... Leave it to the scholar to know his primals! So what are they?
Johann: Well, I haven't read through all of the literature the Astrals left behind, but...
Johann: There's some ridiculous stuff written in here.
Johann: Stuff like "Out of fear, it was split into two halves, the Wind God and the Thunder God." Someone actually wrote that.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 4: The Awoken - Episode 4: Scene 2

Johann says that keeping the two gods apart must have been a safety measure to ensure they wouldn't use their true power. The others wonder why, and Johann jokes that maybe they were going to destroy the world.

Johann: It must have been some kind of safety measure. Keeping them apart would prevent them from using their true power, I suppose.
Zeta: Wow... But what would the Astrals even use them for anyway?
Johann: Nothing about that is written. It just says they were scared so they split them. Maybe they planned to destroy the world. Ha-ha.
Vyrn: Hey now, don't make jokes like that.
Vyrn: Whoa! What was that?
Vaseraga: Get back. There are monsters afoot.
Monster: Groar!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 4: The Awoken - Episode 4: Scene 3

With the knowledge that the Wind and Thunder Gods are two halves of one whole, Zeta and Vaseraga bicker over who gets to fight them. They both refuse to cooperate, and it's still unclear why.

Johann: Anyway, the idea that they'd destroy the world is no more than a dark joke.
Johann: But that doesn't change the fact that they're dangerous now that they're together.
Zeta: I think everything will work out fine.
Zeta: If they're united, that just means they're both mine! I found mine first after all.
Vaseraga: No, I'll do it. I have a grasp of the enemy's behavior. Besides, they're too much for you. I can handle them alone.
Zeta: Excuse me? Who do you think you're talking to?
Vaseraga: You, Zeta. Just leave them to me. You protect the girl.
Zeta: Why don't you protect her? With your burly body, you're the only wall I see here!
Lyria: Whoa... Both of you, please calm down...
Zeta: Oh. Sorry, Lyria. It's okay. We're always like this.
Vaseraga: Just do as I tell you and stay with the girl. I'm better on the battlefield anyway.
Zeta: You just don't know when to shut up, do you? Hold it right there, Vaseraga! Don't you run from me!
Vaseraga: I never intended to work with you, and that hasn't changed.
Vyrn: Hey, wait! This is no time for internal discord or whatever!
Zeta: Internal discord? We're just two people competing for credit.
Vyrn: I don't know what's going on with the two of you, but you guys have been fighting nonstop!
Johann: Well, it doesn't really matter, as long as we can investigate unhindered. That's why it's best for us to all cooperate.
Zeta: Cooperate? With him? Sorry, but I just can't.
Vaseraga and Zeta clash over their primal beast prey.
Her expression clouds over at the word cooperate. What happened in her past to cause this is uncertain.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 5: That Which Remains - Episode 1

The Wind and Thunder Gods can only unleash their true power while together. This mystery has everyone at a loss. Johann tells them that the Wind and Thunder Gods might have been created to defeat other primal beasts.

The Wind and Thunder Gods can only harness their true power while together, and the crew struggles to figure out their secrets.
Before long Johann seems to think of something, and he opens his mouth to speak.
Johann: I see... So that's it... Yes, that might just be it...
Lyria: Have you figured something out?
Johann: This is partially a guess, and I can't prove anything, but...
Johann: It would appear the Wind and Thunder Gods were created to defeat other primal beasts.
Lyria: Other primal beasts?
Johann: I can't tell exactly why just yet, but it would certainly appear so.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 5: That Which Remains - Episode 1: Scene 2

Johann suggests that the Astrals who once lived on the island might have run out of primal crystals. Zeta and Vaseraga basically ignore him and continue arguing over who gets to defeat the primal beast.

Johann: I don't know what happened to the Astrals on this island, but it's possible they ran out of primal crystals.
Lyria: So they tried to replenish their supply by defeating other primal beasts?
Johann: It's possible.
Zeta: Interesting... But that doesn't change the fact that I'm going to beat them on my own.
Vaseraga: You always have to have the last word, don't you?
Zeta: And what's wrong with that?
Lyria: Um... Are you both really serious about defeating them all by yourself?
Zeta: That's why we came here.
Johann: I wouldn't try it if I were you.
Vyrn: Agreed...
Lyria: Yeah... That primal beast is just too different from the others.
Zeta: So it's stronger than a regular primal beast? Well, so are we! We'll be fine.
Zeta: But first...
Monster: Groar!
Zeta: It's time to wipe these guys out.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 5: That Which Remains - Episode 2

Johann notices Lyria's ability to manipulate primal crystals. He suggests that perhaps the Wind and Thunder Gods mistook her crystal-related ability for a primal beast and targeted her by mistake.

Johann: Say... You can use primal crystals, can't you, Lyria?
Zeta: Come to think of it, I thought I saw you doing some weird stuff... Can you really do that?
Lyria: I sure can, though I honestly don't know where my power comes from.
Johann: I'd like to ask more about your abilities, but I'll drop it for now.
Johann: Given your abilities related to primal crystals, I think perhaps the Wind and Thunder Gods mistook you for a primal beast.
Lyria: I... I think so too... And that must be why they targeted me.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 5: That Which Remains - Episode 2: Scene 2

Since the primal beast is after Lyria, Vyrn suggests leaving the island for a while. However, Lyria worries that her absence will result in the primal beast wreaking havoc on other islands. Zeta is worried about her, but she insists that she'll be fine as long as (Captain) is with her.

Vyrn: Hmm... If it's dangerous here, shouldn't we leave the island for now?
Lyria: We can't! The Wind and Thunder Gods are after me!
Lyria: If I leave, they'll head to other islands in search of primal beasts!
Zeta: I understand how you feel, Lyria, but...
Lyria: I'm okay. Now that I think about it, we've faced dangers like this plenty of times before.
Lyria: Besides, (Captain) is always there for me!
Zeta: Oh... I wish someone counted on me like that.
Monster: Grrr...
Zeta: Well then, I guess it's time for me to show off again, eh, Captain?

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 5: That Which Remains - Episode 3

Since Lyria has decided to stay on the island, the crew resolves to face the Wind and Thunder Gods. Johann suggests that Zeta and Vaseraga leave the island to get help, but Zeta says they can't. She tries to explain, but Vaseraga stops her.

Vyrn: Hmm... If Lyria is staying on the island, I guess we have to stay too.
Johann: Besides, we can't guarantee that the Wind and Thunder Gods will let the airship leave.
Johann: And even if we did take off, it would be a challenge to escape them.
Vyrn: True that. I don't even want to think about what would happen if they struck the airship with their lightning...
Johann: Of course, even if Lyria can't leave the island...
Johann: We could always have Zeta and Vaseraga go get help.
Zeta: Uh... That's not happening.
Zeta: I already told them we found a primal beast. Until we defeat it, we can't—
Vaseraga: I told you not to say more than necessary, you blabbermouth.
Zeta: Oh, shut up already! It's always the same thing with you, over and over and over and over!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 5: That Which Remains - Episode 3: Scene 2

Johann suddenly announces that the crew is running out of time. According to him, it is only a matter of time before the united Wind and Thunder Gods can unleash their true power.

Johann: Now, it would appear we don't have much time.
Zeta: We're running out of time?
Vyrn: What do you mean?
Johann: Apparently once the Wind and Thunder Gods join up, it takes a little time before they can use their true power.
Johann: It's like... Oh, I know. It's like breaking in a new airship.
Vyrn: You mean they're gonna get even stronger than they were back in the ruins? That's definitely not good!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 5: That Which Remains - Episode 4

In response to Johann, Zeta suggests that they hurry to the Wind and Thunder Gods. She warns Vaseraga that not even he could stand against their true power, and he tells her to hide if she's so scared. This leads to more bickering.

Zeta: Sounds like we'd better hurry.
Zeta: I bet not even you could hold out against their true power, Vaseraga.
Vaseraga: If you're scared of a little "true" power, just go hide.
Zeta: Excuse me? You've got a lot of nerve saying that to me after you fled with the rest of us!
Zeta: You talk a big game for someone who already failed to beat them once!
Lyria: Oh no... There they go again...
Vyrn: Good grief. They could really use a time-out.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 5: That Which Remains - Episode 4: Scene 2

Zeta tells Vaseraga the lightning hits he took obviously slowed him down. Vaseraga says she's imagining things. Their bickering continues.

Zeta: Just how many times did you get zapped back in the ruins? It looks like you're having trouble even staying on your feet!
Vaseraga: You're imagining things.
Zeta: I don't think so. Your precious augmented body is obviously getting worn out, so you better stand back and let the grown-ups handle this!
Zeta: I'll finish off the Wind God and Thunder God just for you.
Vaseraga: Is that so?
Monster: Groar!
Zeta: But first these guys!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 5: That Which Remains - Episode 4: Scene 3

Zeta and Vaseraga nearly come to blows, but Lyria stops them. Vaseraga understands her position, and tries to convince Zeta that the code takes priority over their competition. In the end, Zeta and Vaseraga agree to cooperate.

Vaseraga: You really think I'm not up to this, don't you? You want to test me and find out?
Zeta: Ha! Not even worth my time!
Vaseraga: I hope you know what you're doing, Zeta.
Zeta: Okay, fine! I'll give you a beating if it'll shut you up!
Lyria: Please... Just stop!
Zeta & Vaseraga: ...!
Vyrn: Lyria?
Lyria: I'm begging you... Stop fighting.
Zeta: Sorry... I wasn't trying to upset you, Lyria.
Lyria: That's not it... I'm just... It's so sad.
Lyria: I escaped from the empire's laboratory, visited all sorts of islands, and met a whole bunch of nice people.
Lyria: So many islands out there are flourishing thanks to the protection of their primal beasts.
Vyrn: Yeah! Our first stop, Port Breeze, was like that!
Lyria: If the Wind and Thunder Gods were to attack those beasts, their islands would wither away!
Lyria: Can't we all just work together? Like when you saved me in the ruins?
Lyria: No matter how strong the Wind and Thunder Gods are together, I'm sure we can stop them... but we need both of you to do it.
Lyria: All the memories I've made on this journey with (Captain) and the others... I don't want to lose the islands that gave them to me.
Zeta: Lyria...
Vaseraga: ...
Vaseraga: She's right. I knew we should work together.
Vaseraga: I understand that you want to take the credit for this one, Zeta, but this isn't the time for that.
Zeta: What do you mean you knew it? Are you hearing yourself right now?
Vaseraga: Let's protect her memories. Sacrificing third parties is a violation of the code after all.
Lyria: Vaseraga...
Vyrn: Wow! You're a lot nicer than you look, Spike!
Zeta: How could you say such a thing, Vaseraga?
Vaseraga: What? Do you object? Are you telling me to violate the code?
Zeta: No! That's not what I'm saying at all!
Zeta: I mean, that's the exact opposite of what you've been saying this whole time. Are you really going to just flip the script?
Vaseraga: I don't recall saying anything else.
Zeta: Ugh! You make me so mad! Once this is over, I swear...
Vaseraga: You talk too much. Let's go.
Zeta: I won't forget this, Vaseraga!
Thus Zeta and Vaseraga reluctantly agree to work together.
Without Lyria's words, such cooperation might not have been possible for the endlessly bickering duo.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 6: Those Who Gazed Upon a Legend - Episode 1

With Zeta and Vaseraga finally working together, (Captain) and the crew head off to find the Wind and Thunder Gods. On the way, a tremor hits, and the primal beast's presence grows stronger, apparently because it can now use its true power.

With Zeta and Vaseraga finally fighting on the same side, the crew heads off to find the Wind and Thunder Gods.
Lyria: I can sense them... They seem a whole lot stronger!
Johann: Ha-ha! It would appear that they're ready to use their true power.
Zeta: Sounds like fun! Let's go! Don't slow us down, Vaseraga!
Vaseraga: As long as you don't mess this up, we'll be fine.
Zeta: Whatever.
Zeta: Anyway... We're counting on you, Captain.
Vaseraga: Indeed. Lead the way.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 6: Those Who Gazed Upon a Legend - Episode 1: Scene 2

Zeta praises (Captain)'s prowess in battle, but Vaseraga assumes she meant him. Meanwhile, as the Wind and Thunder Gods gradually come into view, Johann can't suppress his excitement.

Zeta: Ha-ha! You're pretty handy in a fight!
Vaseraga: Don't compliment me. It's weird.
Zeta: I meant the captain, not you!
Johann: Just a little further... A little further, and we'll see them...
Johann: Let's hurry, Captain! I can't wait any longer!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 6: Those Who Gazed Upon a Legend - Episode 2

The crew approaches the raging Wind and Thunder Gods. Even from a distance, they can feel the power radiating from them. Despite the tension, Zeta and Vaseraga continue to jibe each other.

Wind & Thunder Gods: Woargh!
Zeta: All fired up, are we? Guess your true power is ready to go!
Johann: Whoa... Even I can tell how powerful they are! And I'm all the way back here! Amazing!
Vaseraga: Now... Just how many hits will this old body take?
Zeta: Um... Wouldn't it be smarter just to avoid getting hit?
Vaseraga: You really do have to have the last word, don't you?

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 6: Those Who Gazed Upon a Legend - Episode 2: Scene 2

When they reach the Wind and Thunder Gods, Johann gets so excited he's almost unrecognizable. He mulls over the situation and takes notes. Witnessing this, Zeta says that scholars are scary.

Johann: Amazing! The Wind and Thunder Gods are just... amazing!
Johann: Truly awe-inspiring! It's like they walked straight out of an ancient legend!
Vyrn: You know... Is it just me, or did Mr. Scholar get a serious personality transplant?
Monster: Grrr...
Johann: The gods can even give life to the very ground! And turn it into monsters! Amazing!
Johann: I see! That must be why that old document referred to these gods as two creators.
Johann: Or maybe not... Well, at least there's room for discussion! Ha-ha!
Zeta: How can he celebrate at a time like this? The Wind and Thunder Gods are fierce, but scholars are even scarier.
Johann: Ha-ha... Amazing... I can't even find a better word to describe it.
Monster: Groar!
Johann: Don't get in my way! I'm trying to take notes here!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 6: Those Who Gazed Upon a Legend - Episode 3

Standing before the Wind and Thunder Gods, Vyrn asks if anyone has a plan, but Zeta and Vaseraga respond that all they have to do is win. Johann analyzes the enemy but admits that he knows nothing about fighting. Even in a crisis, everyone is all over the place.

Vyrn: So you guys got a plan or something?
Zeta: Not really. All we have to do is beat them, right?
Vaseraga: Yep. Nothing more to it.
Vyrn: Are you kidding me? You guys don't even have a strategy?
Johann: The gods specialize in combat... From the looks of it, they seem to place special emphasis on brute force!
Johann: But they don't seem that intelligent. What do you think, Lyria?
Lyria: Hmm... I think you might be right. They both seem to have pretty one-track minds.
Johann: Ha-ha! Just as I thought! Which means it's possible that they inspired the multi-creator theme of these ruins...
Johann: But wait a second... If they're considered the origin of all things, then a simpler design would be more.... Hmmm...
Vyrn: That's all well and good, but do they have any weaknesses?
Johann: No idea. I don't specialize in fighting, you know.
Vyrn: Oh, give me a break! We're in a crisis here!
Johann: Sorry... I'm busy right now. Oh! The Wind God's moving!
Vyrn: Good grief... How are we ever going to get anything done like this?

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 6: Those Who Gazed Upon a Legend - Episode 3: Scene 2

It bothers Vaseraga that he stands before a primal beast people saw back in ancient times. Zeta remarks that he's surprisingly sentimental, and Vaseraga blames Johann for it. Vaseraga considers the fact that his scythe might soon save people from a primal beast, and Zeta encourages him.

Vaseraga: Zeta, do you think these really are the gods of legend?
Zeta: Why are you getting serious all of a sudden?
Vaseraga: I don't think they're the creators, but I do sense something unnerving about them.
Vaseraga: People wrote myths about this primal beast... And that means we're looking at something first seen by the ancients.
Zeta: You know, you're actually surprisingly sentimental.
Vaseraga: Maybe Johann's rubbing off on me... I suddenly started thinking about the age of myth.
Vaseraga: This scythe, Grynoth... It might soon save people from a holdover from that age.
Zeta: Of course. Didn't we come here to prove that we could do just that?
Zeta: Now let's get going, you big lunk.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 6: Those Who Gazed Upon a Legend - Episode 4

Faced with the final battle, Zeta and Vaseraga talk to each other about why they fight. When Vyrn asks them what they were talking about, they bicker as usual. Lyria says they actually like each other more than they realize.

Vyrn: Hey, what were you guys talking about?
Zeta: Oh, you know. Just the reasons we fight. No big deal.
Vaseraga: Yeah, but I have yet to get the last word in with her.
Zeta: Excuse you! If I remember correctly, you were the one who started talking to me!
Lyria: Ha-ha... I think they actually get along better than they realize.

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Chapter 6: Those Who Gazed Upon a Legend - Episode 4: Scene 2

The Wind and Thunder Gods roar when they see Lyria, but she has her friends with her and is no longer afraid. Johann is once again stunned by the primal beast. Zeta and Vaseraga unleash their power, and the crew joins the battle with the gods.

Wind God: This... aroma...
Thunder God: She was... easy to find.
The Wind God and Thunder God are fixated on Lyria. She looks back at them quietly.
Lyria: I'm fine now. I have nothing to fear as long as (Captain) is with me.
Lyria: Come on, (Captain). Let's go!
Wind & Thunder Gods: Woargh!
As Lyria's power grows, the gods begin to scream even louder.
Johann: Ha-ha... Finally! At last I can witness the legend for myself!
Zeta: So these things aren't too smart, right?
Wind & Thunder Gods: Woargh!
Vaseraga: Apparently not.
Zeta: No need for mind games then! Let's take them head on!
Vaseraga: Right.
Zeta: Spear of Arvess! Give form to my faith and become a piercing fang!
Vaseraga: Great Scythe, Grynoth! Drink the blood of the primal beast to strengthen your edge!
In response to their voices, their weapons begin to glow.
Perhaps the gods perceive this as a threat, because it appears to divert their attention away from Lyria.
Zeta: Oh, hey, they're looking our way.
Vaseraga: They've finally acknowledged us as the enemy.
Zeta: Have fun with the Thunder God.
Vaseraga: The Wind God is yours, right?
Zeta & Vaseraga: Let's go!
Vyrn: We can't let them steal the show! Come on!
Lyria: Okay!

Footprints on Sacred Ground - Ending

(Captain) and the crew defeat the Wind and Thunder Gods. Johann admits that he broke their seal. He apparently knew they were designed to hunt other primal beasts and would attack other islands once freed. He therefore wanted to defeat them before they left Lognos. The crew suspects that he just wanted to see the legend come to life.

Vyrn: Is it... over?
Vaseraga: So it would seem.
Zeta: Ugh! I'm so sore! I want to go home and take a bath and pass out!
Zeta: I'll send the report later! I'm bushed!
Vaseraga: Hey! Watch what you're saying.
Zeta: Yeah, yeah...
Vyrn: You know... Back when the Wind God first appeared in the ruins, I was so freaked out!
Zeta: It was so sudden, right? Like, poof, there he was in front of me!
Vyrn: You mean you didn't do anything to summon him?
Zeta: There's no way I could've broken a complicated seal like that!
Vaseraga: Agreed. You're nowhere near talented enough for that.
Zeta: Shut up!
Lyria: Hmm... Maybe the seal just weakened naturally over time?
Johann: I don't think so. Left untouched, that seal should have lasted at least another thousand years.
Johann: It was a very strong and complex seal... And those responsible went out of their way to split the primal beast in two.
Johann: The Astrals who created the Wind and Thunder Gods apparently took every possible precaution.
Johann: I can guarantee that someone broke the seal.
Vyrn: Could the seal have been broken by whoever sent Spike and Red?
Zeta: Ha-ha! If we had someone like that, we wouldn't need Johann.
Johann: Good point.
Lyria: Hmm... Then who broke it?
Johann: Well, logically speaking, I'm the only one who could have done it.
Lyria: What? You?
Vyrn: You can't be serious! What were you thinking, Mr. Scholar?
Vaseraga: Ha-ha! So the truth comes out!
Johann: I'm sorry. I miscalculated some things... I never imagined the gods would target Lyria.
Johann: I am truly sorry about that. Please forgive me.
Zeta: Good grief... Good thing we happened to be here!
Johann: You, Vaseraga, and (Captain), to be precise.
Johann: To be honest, once I found out that those two would hunt other primal beasts, I had the same concern as Lyria.
Johann: After all, my hometown is on an island that owes its prosperity to a primal beast.
Johann: If those things had left this island... Once I started thinking about that, I knew they had to be defeated...
Vyrn: So you say, but...
Johann: Now that this island has been discovered, someone was bound to come and break the seal just like I did.
Johann: If no one had happened to be around for that like you all were for me... the gods would have torn through countless islands.
Vyrn: Good grief... I don't even have the words right now.
Johann: Yes, the gods' power is just that awe-inspiring.
Johann: A tremendous power, like they just walked right out of the story of their legend.
Johann: He-he... He-he-he...
Vyrn: So let me get this straight... You actually wanted to see that legend come to life, didn't you, Mr. Scholar?
Johann: Yeah... I mean, I didn't mean to lie to you, but it was a very valuable experience.
Zeta: Oh, for crying out loud... The gods were a tough opponent, but they've obviously got noting on so-called scholars.
With that the curtains close on the battle of Lognos.
(Captain) and the crew receive their reward from Johann and head for their next destination.
The mysterious duo, Zeta and Vaseraga, as well as the organization behind them, weigh heavily on the crew's minds.
Vyrn: Um...
Vyrn: Now that I think about it... I feel like you totally contradicted yourself, Mr. Scholar...
Johann: He-he. All's well that ends well or something like that.
