You returns to the Grandcypher with an injured Kou in tow and tells the crew about the love-obsessed freak of nature. Some stay behind to tend to their wounds, while others go to the bar in search of info. As things calm down a bit, a mysterious girl shows up to give You a hug.

Fortunately, (Captain) rushes in to prop her up.

Vyrn: Hey, just take it easy now. You're pretty banged up yourself!
Societte: Let's get them to some beds! We should be able to treat these wounds ourselves!
(Captain) and company carry the injured to a spare room and proceed with emergency treatment.
Seeing You continue to quiver even during treatment, Societte pulls her gently into her arms.
In the comfort of Societte's loving embrace, You regains a sense of calm and explains everything that transpired.
The freak of nature—an entity which can take on anyone's appearance—assaulted the two, after which they barely escaped with their lives.
You: That thing... is still alive... Watching us from somewhere...
Societte: How awful it must have been. But everything's going to be okay. Because we're with you now.
You: Sis Societte...
Yuel: Societte, Lyria, (Captain)... Take care of 'em, will ya?
Lyria: Of course we will! Are you going somewhere, Yuel?
Yuel: The bar.
Vyrn: At a time like this?
Yuel: No time like the present. I mean, sure I can do some healin' with my dances too, but I'm nowhere near as good as those two.
Yuel: Gatherin' info on this freak-o'-nature thing so we can kick its butt is exactly what I should be doin' right now!
Yuel: Not to mention I've already got a lead from Buck Bronco. I'm not entirely sure it's related to what You was talkin' about, but it's something at least.

Buck Bronco is an underground informant who peddles shady, unverified info for exorbitant prices.
After crossing paths with Societte one day, she taught him humility, and now he's one of her biggest fans.
Vyrn: In that case, I'm comin' along too!
Vyrn: I wanna teach a lesson just as badly as you to whoever put the hurt on our pals!
Yuel: Fine by me. Let's get going.
Vyrn: All righty! Catch you guys later!
You: Sis Yuel... Vyrn...
Societte: She'll be okay, especially with Vyrn beside her. Lyria, let's focus on healing You and Kou!

In the single instant that all eyes are focused on Kou...
"Something" sees an opening and rushes at You.
The intruder quickly reveals itself.

A girl with hair color resembling the leaves of a late summer maple clings to You and rubs her cheek against her bewildered victim.
Falsetto in the Autumn Gray - Chapter 1: Verdant Lute Storyteller - Episode 1
The mysterious lute-playing girl is Sui, daughter of Kuzure and descendant of the seventh royal family. Though her dances and Scarlet Rope are genuine enough, You can't help but harbor suspicion due to the incident with the shape-shifting freak of nature.
You: Get off... of me...
???: But why? We finally got to meet!
You: You're not making a lick of sense... Sis Societte... (Captain)...
Societte: Go easy now. You's in pain, and that is no way to treat someone who's in pain.
Nodding in agreement, (Captain) pries the mysterious girl away from You.
???: Waaah... Yooouu...
???: Wait, she's hurt?
???: Oh, no, no! I can't believe I squeezed the stuffing out of her!
???: I'm so, so sorry! I was just really happy to see You!
???: I've dreamt about this day forever, and I couldn't control myself... Please forgive me.
You: Well, it didn't really hurt... I was more surprised than anything... so it's okay...
???: Yay, this calls for a make-up hug!
You: Stay back!
???: Sniff...
You: For starters... Who are you? It feels like I've seen you somewhere before...

(Captain) is reminded of a previous incident concerning You.
Prior to meeting the crew, as a result of having her memory distorted by Ninetails, she bore an implacable hatred of Kou and lived only for revenge.
She attacked other royal family descendants to plunder their flames and sacred treasures.
Later freed from Ninetails's grasp, You went with Societte, Yuel, and Kou to return everything she had taken from the other royal families.
(Captain) realizes Kuzure must be another descendant.
Societte: So Kuzure had a daughter after all.
You: He was always a quiet one, not saying much even when he forgave me.
You: I have trouble imagining him with a daughter... What if it's that thing in disguise...
Sui: Unconfirmed daughter
Is her presence genuine?
Sui: Through my performance.
The girl calling herself Sui plucks her lute, causing a beautiful jade flame to flutter about.
Sui: Once upon a time
The first and seventh joined up
Sui: One was...
Sui continues her graceful dance as she plucks away on the lute.
The dazzling jade flame traces Sui's movements, forming the shape of a large flower.
Oddly enough, the fiery flower isn't the least bit hot to the touch, instead warming the heart of any who reach out a hand to it.
Sui: Jade Dance: Gekka.
You: That's Kuzure's dance...
Sui: The other is this
A sacred treasure passed down
Sui's next movements cause the fiery flower to fade away, a sacred rope taking its place.
Sui: The Scarlet Rope.
You: That rope's for real... I've used it before...
Sui: You can say that again! And I'm the real deal as Kuzure's beloved daughter!
Sui: Now how about a hug to commemorate our newly formed friendship!
You: Wha? Hold it right th—mmpf!

After being shooed away by You, Sui goes to the bar to find Yuel and Vyrn. There she relates the crew's battle against Ninetails with striking accuracy.
Sui: Ahaha... Sigh... And that's how I got kicked out.
Sui: Open up those arms!
You: You dummy! Back off!
Sui: Ugwah!
You grabs Sui and prevents her from getting closer to Kou.
You: Bro Kou's still recovering! No hugs allowed! What are you gonna do if he gets worse!
Sui: But... You hugged him yourself...
You: ...!

You: L-look! Just stay back, okay?
You: Better yet, go away!
Sui: Sigh... I need to control my emotions better...

Falsetto in the Autumn Gray - Chapter 1: Verdant Lute Storyteller - Episode 3
After reconciling with You back on the Grandcypher, Sui tells stories of the crew as told to her by Kuzure, her father. He knew of those stories because of the jade flame—a power unique to the seventh royal family successors—to record the memories of places. Expressing her wish to experience those stories for herself, the crew offers to take Sui to see fireflies as their first destination.
You: Mng...
Societte: You? Everything okay?
Kou: I take it you regret shooing away Sui?
You: Bro Kou... You can tell what I'm thinking?
Kou: To an extent, yeah.
You: That means I can't hide things from you... Which isn't necessarily a bad thing though...
You: I didn't mean to kick her out... I just wanted her to give us some space...
Kou: Without knowing if she really is who she says she is, I think you were right to be cautious.
You: (That's true too, but not what I was getting at...)
You: (You know all about me, except for the feelings that count most...)
You: Huh?

You: I can sense Sui... She's coming here with Sis Yuel...

Vyrn: I can't even imagine what you must've been dreamin' about...
Sui: Wahaha... I tell stories so often that I even do it in my dreams.

A jade flame manifests, bringing out an abundance of treats.
Lyria: Wow! I love yummy snacks! Look, (Captain), we've had some of those before!

Kou: Wow. This tea is top-of-the-line stuff too. These leaves cost a pretty rupie...
You: More milk! Strawberry milk, fruit milk, and... Oh, I like the milk from this farm...
You: With this much milk, we can have a daily milk buffet!
You: Can we really have it all?
Sui: Mm-hm, that's the point! This should've been the first thing I did... Sorry I got the order backwards!
Sui: Consider it my apology. I'm a bit socially awkward, so I can't always judge the intimacy between people...

You: I was just a bit flustered at the moment... Hope you'll forgive me.

Playing her lute, Sui repeats the story she had told Vyrn and Yuel earlier at the bar.
All are astonished by how she can recite exact quotes uttered in past situations.

Lyria: It's like you know exactly where we've been...

Societte: More than that... She knows things that only someone who was actually there would know...
Kou: Only Kuzure or anyone else who's inherited his power can do such a thing...

Yuel: I had no idea that flame power was a thing either. That's why I was so suspicious of Sui the moment she brought up our past in such detail.
Vyrn: I wasn't too sure at first either, but she made me a believer when she started recordin' the stories of the bar itself with her flames.
Yuel: Come to think of it, we don't really know the powers of the other royal families, do we?
Kou: Same here... I only know what Ninetails was willing to share with me.
Kou: Anyhow, we can probably assume that Kuzure has shared all the stories in his collection with Sui.

Though they kept to themselves, living in isolation, those who feared the legends of werewolves chased the two from their home.

Ever since going off to meet Wulf and Renie alone, Sui has mostly been keeping to herself.

The misanga that You had previously given Sui suddenly appears on the freak of nature's wrist. You and Kou cast aside their weapons and go right up to the aberration, continuously calling out to Sui while being absorbed by it. The disgusted aberration rips off the misanga, only to see it regenerate each time it's ripped off.
As the freak of nature continues to snicker and belittle (Captain)'s and Yuel's attacks, You wipes away her tears and stares directly at the freak's arm.
You: A misanga! That's the one I gave her...
Kou: That wasn't there before... It's proof we haven't lost Sui yet!
You: R-really?
Kou: Have a little faith.
You: Right...

Freak of Nature: Gehehe! Worn out and looking for a good night's rest already?

Unable to remove the misanga, the panicking freak of nature decides to flee only to have the crew block its escape route. Sensing Sui beginning to take over, it calls upon all other freak of nature clones to merge into a giant mass.

Kuzure: Aspirations yet unmet. Eh, Sui?
Freak of Nature: Gah, how many times do I have to say it? Sui's gone! And why can't I rip this thing off!
