Divergent Knighthoods - Opening

Arthur and Mordred, two youngsters raised in an orphanage, enter Feendrache in hopes of becoming knights. They have a brief run-in with Lancelot and Vane during an incident at the local restaurant, all the while unaware of their affiliation with the Order of the White Dragons.

In a busy part of the royal capital of Feendrache, two boys are walking across a main road bustling with activity.
The eyes of the blonde-haired boy light up as he looks around with great curiosity.
But the black-haired boy behind him is more reserved.
???: Whoa! The capital city's packed to the gills!
???: Keep darting around like a kid in a candy store and everyone's gonna take you for a country bumpkin.
???: Hm? Sniff, sniff...
???: Mm, there's a tasty smell coming from that restaurant!
???: Have you heard a word I said? We have things to do before setting down for a meal.
???: ...
???: Sigh... I suppose we can grab a bite over there—
???: Heheh! That's more like it!
Business is good this afternoon as lively chatter can be heard from every corner of the eatery.
Vane: So today's the big day, huh, Lancey?
Lancelot: I'm just glad we made it on time.
Vane: Yep, you sure worked your butt off going around getting people in on this effort.
Lancelot: Couldn't have done it without you, Vane. You have my thanks.
Vane: Wahahaha! Anytime! Just don't forget to thank Siegfried and Percy later too.
Lancelot: Of course.
Vane: The capital's been through a lot as of late.
Lancelot: From Isabella's scheming to the whole incident with Wales—
Lancelot: The tumult everyone's felt is finally fading away.
Vane: Making this the perfect time to strengthen our order.
Lancelot: Let's hope that means some fine recruits will be coming in.
At the table behind them are the two boys from earlier enjoying their lunch.
???: Yum! That was too good! Probably the best bread I've ever had!
???: All right, it's almost time. Let's get going.
???: Ah...
???: What's wrong?
???: I don't...
???: You don't have enough money?
???: Man... I'll just have to pony up from my end.
???: Look at the price...
???: Holy... Meals in the capital cost an arm and a leg...
???: What do we do?
???: Shoot... We've got no time. Gotta do the usual.
???: But we swore to stop doing that since we're going to be knights...
???: This'll be the last of it.
???: Okay...
The two glance at each other with an affirmative nod.
???: We walk out the moment that waiter goes into the back.
???: I'm ready.
???: Now. We're going.
???: ...!
The two boys walk toward the entrance with their heads held high.
Cafeteria Lady: Ah! Trying to beat the bill, are we?
The Two: !
Freeloader: Crap! They noticed!
Cafeteria Lady: They're getting away! Someone grab them!
Lancelot: Vane.
Vane: On it, Lancey!
Just as Lancelot and Vane latch on to the freeloader, two small shadows pop into view.
???: Dah!
Freeloader: Ngh!
???: You're done for.
One of them trips the freeloader, after which the other puts him in a headlock.
The crowd erupts into a raucous round of applause and cheers at their perfectly synchronized maneuvering.
Freeloader: Argh! Ya damn rug rats!
???: Say that again!
Lancelot: That's enough. You've already rounded him up.
Lancelot motions for Mordred to stop before his fists connect.
Vane: Whew! You kids are pretty tough! But we'll take it from here.
???: And who the heck are you?
Lancelot: Just regulars at the diner. You're not hurt, are you?
???: Mm, we're okay.
Vane: The way you two moved in perfect unison blew me away, especially considering your age!
???: Heh, that was nothing.
???: Uh-huh! We're gonna be knights after all!
Lancelot's expression turns solemn the next instant.
Lancelot: Knights, you say... Tell me your names.
???: You first, chump.
Lancelot: Where are my manners... You can call me Lancelot.
Vane: And I'm Vane. Nice to meetcha!
Arthur: I'm Arthur!
Mordred: Mordred.
Lancelot puts on a gentle smile upon hearing their names.
Lancelot: Mordred, Arthur, have you two paid already?
Mordred: Hm?
Arthur: Oh, about that...
Lancelot: Not yet, from the looks in your eyes.
Mordred: Erm...
Mordred: We were just about to pay!
Arthur: That's right!
Arthur: Oh, where's my wallet...
Lancelot: Vane, why don't we pay for them while we're at it?
Vane: Hahah! I like the sound of that!
Vane: Hey, miss? Can you put their bill on our tab?
Cafeteria Lady: Sure thing, Vane, Lancelot! Keep up the good work you do for the kingdom!
Lancelot: Mm-hm. Bye now.
Vane: Thanks, miss! We'll be back for grub again soon!
Mordred and Arthur cast their eyes down in embarrassment.
Lancelot: A bit of advice for you two.
Lancelot: If you're truly aiming to be knights, never lose the chivalry within you.
Lancelot: Those who lack it have no right to be a knight.
Lancelot looks at the two with a deadpan expression.
Lancelot: Oh, it's almost time. Let's go, Vane.
Vane: Right behind ya!
Catch you boys later!
Lancelot and Vane return to the castle with the freeloader in fetters.
Mordred: What's his deal? Talking down to us like he's some hotshot. Humph...
Arthur: We should count our blessings if you ask me...
Mordred: I guess we're kinda lucky... Should be a sign of good things to come.
The two youngsters watch Lancelot and Vane walk off into the distance.
Arthur notices them greeting soldiers along the way.
Arthur: Do you think they're knights of Feendrache?
Mordred: Who knows... Hold it... Doesn't the captain of the Order of the White Dragons go by Lancelot?
Arthur: Then that person just now was...
Mordred: Pssh, can't be! I'm sure they just happen to have the same name! Anyhow, we need to get going!
Arthur: Oh, right!
They leave the restaurant and join the crowd of aspiring knights walking toward the castle.
In front of the castle are knights of the Order of the White Dragons guiding applicants to the examination venue.
Arthur and Mordred stand agape at the magnificent castle looming before them.
Arthur: Wow... This place is huge...
Mordred: Don't tell me... You feeling scared?
Arthur: Nah...
Arthur: I'm just feeling pumped by being here!
Mordred: That's more like it.
The two reach into their bags, grasping for something.
???: Mordred, Arthur... These lucky charms were made by every one of us in the orphanage. Take them with you.
Arthur: Thank you, Sister.
Mordred: Thanks.
Arthur: Well then... We're off!
Sister: Mm... Safe travels.
Children: Sob... Come back and visit!
Tears welling up in their eyes, the sister and children see off Arthur and Mordred.
Mordred: Ugh... This teary stuff is why I hate goodbyes.
Arthur: But... I just wanted us to have a proper send-off.
Mordred: I know. That's why we're still here.
Arthur: Aw, crud. I'm starting to feel lonely already.
Mordred: Oh, brother... You can always stay back, you know?
Arthur: No way! I'm gonna be captain of the order one day!
Sister: Haha... I'm sure you two will be just fine.
Sister: Remember to write us a letter when you reach the capital. And—
Mordred: Sister, we're never gonna get out of here at this rate, so we're just gonna go.
Arthur: Yeah! With the two of us working together, everything'll pan out just fine.
Sister: May they be blessed with many fortunes...
Parting with the orphanage for good that day, Arthur and Mordred made their way to the capital.
Mordred: C'mon, Arthur.
Arthur: Okay!
Arthur: It's a contest to see which one of us becomes captain first!
Mordred: You've already lost. Because I'm going to come out on top.
Arthur: Psh, you wish!
And thus the two young boys take their first steps toward knighthood.
The clear blue skies provide the perfect backdrop for the entrance examination to the Order of the White Dragons.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 1: The Next Generation - Episode 1

When Captain Lancelot and Vice-Captain Vane appear before the applicants in the throne room, Arthur and Mordred are at a loss for words, having met them earlier at the restaurant. Lancelot urges all present to question the meaning of chivalry, and then proceeds to distribute the uniforms.

Examination students crowd into the throne room.
Among them are Mordred and Arthur.
Arthur: This is my first time inside a castle, but those decorations on the ceiling are really something!
Mordred: This is where we'll be spending our days from here on out. Might as well get used to it now.
Arthur: Ahaha! True enough!
Suddenly a hush of silence washes over the room.
Lancelot and Vane command the attention of the room as they walk in with purposeful strides.
Lancelot: Greetings, everyone.
Lancelot: I am Lancelot, captain of the Order of the White Dragons.
Vane: And I'm Vice-Captain Vane.
Vane: Pleasure to meet you all!
Mordred: Wait, it's them two...
Mordred turns a pale blue at the sight of the two knights.
Arthur: Hm...
Arthur: Ah! You're the two from the restaurant!
Vane: Yo! Mordred and Arthur! Glad you two could make it!
Arthur: Um... Thanks for treating us earlier!
Mordred: (Arthur! Focus on the captain!)
Lancelot: Cough... Care to keep that down?
Arthur: Yes! And sorry!
Mordred: M-my apologies.
Vane: (Oopsie! That was kinda my bad!)
Arthur: (We're super lucky to know the captain and vice-captain!)
Mordred: (Oh crap, I was pretty rude to them back there...)
Mordred: (Have I failed the test before it's even started?)
Lancelot: Mm-hm... Moving on, then...
Lancelot refocuses his attention on everyone and continues to talk.
Lancelot: Tomorrow you will all take the test to become a knight in the kingdom of Feendrache.
Lancelot: Here, we pay little heed to the smaller points and look more for those with a chivalrous heart.
Lancelot: This examination will take place across multiple stages, each to determine your worth as a knight.
Lancelot: Keep in mind that you will not be agents nor skyfarers—as knights you must swear absolute fealty to the kingdom.
The participants listen intently, careful to catch every word.
Lancelot: I will now be handing out your uniforms.
Lancelot: Vane, if you would do the honors.
Vane: Yep! I'm on it!
Vane and the other proctors begin handing out the uniforms.
Arthur: Whoa! This is sweet!
Mordred: It is rather nice.
Lancelot: Now change into them as soon as you're ready.
It becomes a mad rush to see who can change faster as if this, in itself, is part of the examination.
Vane: Hey now, this isn't a race! Take your time!
Mordred: What do you think, Arthur?
Arthur: Fits you to a T! How 'bout me?
Mordred: Not bad at all!
The rest of the participants all change into their uniforms soon enough.
???: Ngh... I can't reach my back...
???: How about that? Am I the most knightly knight or what?
???: Heck, you might as well butter my patootie and start calling me Captain Henry.
???: ...
Vane: Okay! Looks like you're all in uniform!
Lancelot: You are now among comrades, ready to embark on a most trying series of trials and tribulations.
Lancelot: Ponder on that over the course of the examination.
Lancelot: You are dismissed until the first part of the test!

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 1: The Next Generation - Episode 2

The applicants undergo the first stage of the examination: a written test.

The participants are gathered in a classroom setting.
Lancelot: Martial discipline is essential for any good knight. But at times you will have to call upon other faculties.
Lancelot: One of these is your intellectual prowess. And we are going to test just that in here.
???: Blegh. Seriously?
???: Aack...
Murmurs of discontent fill the air.
Lancelot: Vane, can you hand out the test papers?
Vane: Okay! Go on and pass them back. But don't turn them over yet!
Vane and the other proctors hand out the booklets.
Lancelot: Everyone have a copy? Okay, please flip them over now.
Lancelot: You may begin!
The atmosphere shifts drastically in the next moment.
Arthur: (Geez, a written test right from the start?)
Mordred: (At ease, Mordred. Start with the ones you know and come back to the hard ones later.)
Lancelot: Speaking is prohibited during the test. And cheating is immediate grounds for failure.
Lancelot stands in the center of the room, while Vane and the other proctors walk around keeping their eyes on the test-takers.
Mordred: ("Wedge, inverted wedge (V), arrow, crescent, circle, straight, column, echelon...")
Mordred: ("List the pros and cons of each formation," it says... I've read about this before...)
???: ("Describe an effective strategy to use when the enemy employs line formation with superior numbers.")
???: (Hehe, easy peasy lemon squeezy... "Cut into their right flank with an echelon formation...")
???: ("Taking into consideration a bow's firing range...")
Vane: (Whoa! These kids are scribbling down those answers like there's no tomorrow!)
???: (Erm... This is a lot tougher than I thought it'd be...)
Vane: (Yeah, I know the feeling, buddy...)
???: (Ah, this first aid question's right up my alley!)
Vane: (Good, good! Looks like he's found something he can answer!)
Arthur: (Sigh... Every one of these is a head scratcher... Even the vocabulary is beyond comprehension...)
Arthur: (Ah! An expression describing the importance of training and discipline? I've got this in the bag!)
Arthur: (No one is born a hero. Legends are born from endless hard work, otherwise known
as—)
Vane: (Hang in there, Arthur! Even I can't answer a bunch of these, so I'm sure you'll be all right!)
The test-takers reflect on everything they've learned up until this point as they chew on each and every question.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 1: The Next Generation - Episode 3

Following the written test, the applicants engage in an interview with Lancelot. Upon its conclusion he expresses to Vane his concerns about whether Arthur and Mordred are truly fit to be knights. Vane volunteers to personally oversee them as team leader for the duration of the entrance examination.

The participants discuss their thoughts on the written part of the test as they wait outside.
Arthur and Mordred are seated side by side.
Mordred: How'd it go?
Arthur: Meh... All right, I guess!
Arthur: And you, Mordred?
Mordred: Was easy enough.
Arthur: Heh... Good for you...
Mordred: I doubt they'd fail us just based on that though, so we should be okay for now.
Arthur: You think so?
Mordred: That written part was just to see how much we know already.
Mordred: I say the real test starts now.
Arthur: Boy, am I glad to hear that!
Arthur: I'm ready for whatever's next!
Henry: (Groan... Yakety-yak, do these guys ever shut up?)
A proctor comes out of the room along with a group of participants.
Proctor Knight: Henry, Mordred, Arthur—come on in.
Inside the room are Lancelot, Vane, and a few other proctors.
Arthur: Ah! Captain Lancelot and Vice-Captain Vane!
Vane: Good to see you again.
Lancelot: Ahem...
Mordred: Keep it down, Arthur.
Arthur: Wha? Was I that loud?
Henry: (What's with these scrubs, being all buddy-buddy with the proctors...)
Lancelot: If you would please take the other participants into consideration and keep it down...
Lancelot: I can appreciate your gusto, but always keep the time and place in mind.
Arthur: Yes. My apologies.
Mordred: I'll be careful from now on.
Mordred: (Gotta wipe off the bad impression they probably already have of me...)
Henry: (Snicker... That's what you get for being complete ignoramuses.)
Lancelot begins addressing everyone in the room.
Lancelot: I've gathered you all here to talk to each and every one of you.
Arthur: Talk?
Vane: Yep. We wanna know what it is that drove you into coming here today.
Mordred: (I suppose having this interview stage early in the process will help them grasp our strengths.)
Mordred: (It'll probably be used in conjunction with the written test we just took...)
Lancelot: You first, Henry.
Henry: Certainly. I've enlisted because...
Henry: Both my father and my grandfather served as knights in this kingdom.
Henry: I wish to tread in their footsteps and do what I can do for the good of the people.
Lancelot: I know your father well. He's not here as a proctor today, but he serves Feendrache well.
Henry: Thank you for the kind words! Father would be most proud!
Vane: Ah, so you're Henry! Say hello to your dad for me!
Henry flashes a wide grin.
Lancelot: Next up is... Arthur.
Can you tell me your motivation for applying?
Arthur: Huh? You're asking me? Erm... My motivation for...
Arthur: H-how should I put it... I'm not really one for grand ambitions...
Lancelot: Even the most trivial of things is fine. Just let me know what's on your mind.
Arthur: Well, I grew up in an orphanage, so I'm looking to become knight captain so that I can give back.
Arthur: I want them to live a good life. It's the least I can do after all they've done for me.
Lancelot: I must say, that's very commendable of you.
Lancelot: But if it's just money you're looking for, there are countless other jobs you could consider.
Arthur: Y-you're right!
Arthur: Wait... Why did I want to become a knight again?
Henry: (I so want to face-palm right now...)
Mordred: (C'mon, Arthur! What are you even saying?)
Vane: (You can do it, Arthur!)
Lancelot: Well, Arthur?
Mordred throws him a lifeline.
Mordred: Hey there! Is it all right if I chime in?
Lancelot: Go on...
Mordred: Arthur and I grew up together in the same orphanage.
Mordred: We really had to steel ourselves to brave the many years of hardship...
Mordred: And then came along this entrance examination into the Order of the White Dragons...
Mordred: That's when we made up our mind to join the order to further strengthen ourselves!
Mordred: We hope to be able to protect the weak, as we were once ourselves.
Mordred: So I can assure you that we've given this ample thought!
Henry: (From orphan to knight captain? Pfft, in your dreams, pal.)
Proctor Knight: Captain Lancelot, it's time for the next group...
Lancelot: I understand where you're coming from.
Vane: That's it for the interview. You can go now.
Henry: I take my leave...
Arthur: I take my leave...
Mordred: I take my leave...
Unable to truly express their feelings to the fullest, Arthur and Mordred walk out in low spirits.
Henry, on the other hand, leaves the room proudly.
Lancelot: So what did you think?
Proctor Knight: Given Henry's responses and attitude, I'd say he's a solid candidate.
Proctor Knight: As for... What were their names... Mordred and Arthur?
Proctor Knight: It seems to me they are much too carefree about this whole matter...
Lancelot: Hm...
And you, Vane?
Vane: I get the feeling Henry had his answers prepped beforehand.
Vane: I'm with you on Arthur and Mordred being kinda wishy-washy...
Vane: But I got the impression they were being true to their heart.
Lancelot: I appreciate the feedback... Now I just need some time to process it all.
Lancelot: I'd like to have a word with Vane privately, if the rest of you would give us a moment...
Proctor Knight: As you wish.
The proctors leave Lancelot and Vane to themselves in the room.
Lancelot reviews the documents of the test-takers, giving each careful thought.
Vane: So what's up, Lancey?
Lancelot: Vane, I have to be honest...
Lancelot: I have my doubts as to whether Mordred and Arthur are fit to be knights.
Vane: Wha? Seriously? 'Cuz they kinda screwed up the interview?
Lancelot: No, that has nothing to do with it.
Lancelot: I was trying to see the chivalry within them.
Lancelot: But I didn't see a shred of it in the discussion just now.
Vane: Don't you remember how they rounded up that freeloader—
Lancelot: They just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Mind you, they would've been freeloaders themselves if that whole incident hadn't occurred.
Vane: No way! Tell me you're kidding!
Lancelot: It was pretty obvious if you ask me, judging from their reactions at the time.
Vane: I think you're right... Wonder if they're having money troubles...
Lancelot: It's easy for us to just cast them aside.
Lancelot: But we have some responsibility to bear for creating the environment that compelled them to such action.
Those words stirring something within Vane, he speaks up with bold determination in his eyes.
Vane: Lancey... Appoint me as their team leader!
Lancelot: I can do that, but...
Vane: I'll make it my mission to see that they're well fed the entire time!
Vane: At least, during the test...
Vane: And if they even think of engaging in any wrongdoing, you can bet I'll be there to stop it!
Vane: I'll take responsibility for anything that happens! So why not wait this out a bit longer and see how they do?
Lancelot puts on an amused grin.
Lancelot: But of course. This whole application process was created to give kids like them a chance.
Lancelot: Go on and see to them, Vane.
Lancelot: Find out if they're fit to be knights.
Lancelot: See if they understand the code of chivalry that we knights abide by.
Vane: Yeah, you got it! Just leave it to me!
Lancelot: Heh... Ever the dependable Vane.
And so the decision is made to see how Arthur and Mordred will fare over the course of the next few days.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 1: The Next Generation - Episode 4

Arthur and Mordred greet their dorm mates Tornelio and Cruz, and they all wax lyrical about their future hopes and dreams as knights of Feendrache.

Arthur and Mordred proceed down the hallway to their dorms.
Mordred: Damn it... I panicked at the interview and couldn't say what I really wanted.
Arthur: Sorry about that, Mordred.
Mordred: Idiot. It's nothing you need to apologize for.
Mordred: I start feeling off-kilter when you're not your usual happy-go-lucky self.
Arthur: Yeah?
Arthur: Back to my ol' happy-go-lucky self it is then!
Mordred: Hahaha... I've always respected that part of you.
The two find their rooms inside the dormitory.
Arthur: Sweet! We get all this to ourselves?
Mordred: Hm? Is someone else staying here as well?
Tornelio: H-hello there.
Arthur: How's it going! I'm Arthur!
Mordred: Mordred.
Arthur: And you are?
Tornelio: I-I'm Tornelio... Arthur, Mordred, it's a pleasure to meet you.
Arthur: Yeah, likewise!
Mordred: Who's that in the back?
Tornelio: Um, I don't know his name either...
Arthur: Hey there. I'm Arthur!
Arthur: What's your name?
Cruz: Cruz...
Mordred: I'm Mordred. Pleasure.
Cruz: Mm-hm. Pleasure.
Arthur: Let's keep our chins up and do our best for the remainder of the test!
Tornelio: R-right!
Cruz: ...
Mordred: Whatever... I'm gonna go ahead and lie down.
Arthur: You're gonna hit the hay already?
Mordred: Heh, don't come crying to me if you stay up late and end up snoozing till noon.
Mordred sets himself down on the bed.
Tornelio: Umm... Is Mordred angry?
Arthur: That's just Mordred being himself. Don't worry too much about it!
Tornelio: O-oh...
Arthur: So, Tornelio, what's your reason for wanting to become a knight?
Tornelio: Huh?
Arthur: I couldn't really come up with a good answer at the interview. Got me wondering about other people.
Tornelio: Ah, I see...
Tornelio: I've been a wallflower my whole life. I figured becoming a knight could help me overcome that...
Arthur: Yeah? Well, I'm sure you can do it, Tornelio!
Tornelio: Y-you think so?
Arthur: I mean, you mustered up the courage to come all the way out here by yourself. I'm sure that took guts.
Tornelio: That's, ahem.... Well, I dunno... Maybe you're right!
Arthur: How about you, Cruz? What's your story?
Cruz: Parents' orders...
Arthur: You mean they made you come out here? Must be tough with such strict parents...
Arthur: I grew up without a dad or a mom, so I kinda envy that.
Arthur: Oh! But the sister at the orphanage took super good care of us, so it's not like I ever felt lonely or anything!
Elated from making new friends among the other participants, Arthur speaks in rapid bursts.
Arthur: She was one heckuva scary lady when she got mad though!
Arthur: And... Oh, I almost forgot! I've gotta write a letter to everyone in the orphanage!
Tornelio: Y-you sure are full of life, Arthur...
Cruz: Sure are...
Mordred keeps his eyes shut while listening to the conversation.
Mordred: (I didn't come here to make friends.)
Mordred: (As long as Arthur and I pass, nothing else matters.)
Fatigue from the long journey begins to set in on Mordred in the form of a dream.
Arthur and Mordred are asleep in their beds.
Mordred hears a faint voice from the neighboring room.
Sister's Voice: Sigh... Things won't be easy this winter...
Sister's Voice: I'm not sure what'll become of the orphanage at this rate... What am I to do...
Mordred: ...
Arthur: Mng... Mordred? You need to go pee?
Mordred: No... Get some sleep, Arthur. We need to wake up early tomorrow.
Arthur: Mm... Good night.
Mordred: Night.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 2: Here Comes Team Chickadee! - Episode 1

When Vane is appointed to lead Mordred, Arthur, Tornelio, and Cruz, he dubs the group Team Chickadee. They immediately set off to basic training, which Henry watches from afar with envy.

Arthur: (Zzz...)
The participants are all lined up in the lecture hall the next morning.
Seeing Arthur doze off, Mordred calls out to him out of concern.
Mordred: (Psst! Beauty sleep's over, Arthur! Here comes Captain Lancelot!)
Arthur: (Mmng... I... know...)
Mordred: (Guess I'll have to give you a whiff of that mint stuff if you're ever gonna wake up!)
Arthur: (Whoa... Okay, I'm up!)
Everyone is lined up, waiting for Lancelot to begin.
Lancelot: It's time to announce the knights in charge of overseeing each team, whom you will address as Sir.
Lancelot reads off the list of names.
Lancelot: The third team will consist of Mordred, Arthur, Tornelio, and Cruz.
All Four: Yessir!
Lancelot: With Vane as its leader.
Arthur: Yeaaah! Vice-Captain Vane's gonna be with us!
Vane: Yep! Pleasure to be working with you all!
Vane: We're Team Chickadee now!
Arthur: Chickadee?
Vane: Well, you're kinda like knights-in-training. It's not that different from newly hatched birds.
Mordred: Chickadee...
Vane: You don't like chicks? Chickadees are the cutest of 'em all!
Arthur: I like the sound of Team Chickadee!
Vane: You can say that again!
Tornelio: P-pleased to be in your team, Sir Vane.
Vane: That's the spirit, Tornelio! A good greeting makes all the difference!
Vane: Hope you're excited about this, Cruz!
Cruz: I suppose I am...
Vane: Hm... You could use a little more gusto.
Vane: But it's cool! We've got all types here today!
Mordred: Let's do this, Sir Vane...
Vane: Mordred, you kinda sound like you weren't expecting me to lead you guys.
Mordred: No, that's not it...
Vane: Hm, you don't look yourself...
Vane: Lemme guess—you would've preferred Lancey as your team leader?
Mordred: Um, not quite...
Vane: I knew it! Everyone wants Lancey!
Vane: Bummer... That kinda stung...
Mordred: Gah, you've got it all wrong!
Vane: But too bad! Lancey's got other stuff to take care of!
Arthur: I'm super glad you're with us, Vane!
Vane: Heheh! Well, aren't you just precious?
Arthur: Thank you very much!
Vane: Mm-hm! That cheery attitude will take you places, I tell you!
Vane: Wahahaha!
Vane: Oh, no time for chitchat! Off to training we go!
Arthur: Yessir!
Vane's team heads toward the training grounds for some basic exercises.
Vane: Phew! How's that for a warm-up!
Arthur: I'm warm as toast!
Vane: Good answer!
Now pair up for strength training!
Arthur: Yessir!
Tornelio: Strength training...
Mordred: What? Won't we be practicing swordsmanship?
Vane: You're not ready for that just yet.
Cruz: Starting from the basics, eh?
Vane: Bingo! I know it's boring, but bear with
me—you'll thank me later!
Vane: See how many push-ups, pull-ups, and crunches you can do!
Arthur: Yessir!
Mordred: Understood.
Tornelio: Y-yes sir!
Cruz: Fine...
The members of Team Chickadee push their bodies to the limits.
Vane: There! You see how far you can go now?
Arthur: Huff... Huff... Definitely...
Mordred: Pant... Wheeze... Yes...
Tornelio: I'm... about to pass out...
Cruz: Just about...
Vane: Good! Now get on the track for a few laps!
Arthur: Haah... Haah...
Arthur: We're gonna keep going?
Vane: Wahahaha! You bet we are!
Vane: Don't think for a second that it's any easier in the daily life of a knight!
Mordred: I... could use a break...
Vane: Fair enough. I'll give you a chance to catch your breaths.
Tornelio: Wheeze...
Vane: Don't worry. It's always like this for the average applicant.
Arthur: ...!
Mordred: A-average?
Arthur and Mordred stand up bolt straight.
Arthur: Huff... Puff...
Arthur: I can keep going!
Mordred: Huff... Huff... Same here...
Vane: That's more like it!
Vane: Go on and run a lap around the outer perimeter!
Vane: On your mark... Get set... Go!
Arthur: Yaaargh!
Mordred: D-damn!
Tornelio: Pant... Wheeze...

Pant... Wheeze...

I... think I'll... pass...
Vane: Yeah, why don't you rest for another minute or two.
Cruz: ...
Vane: Hm? You up for this, Cruz?
Cruz: I can do it...
Vane: Hang in there!
Cruz: Thanks...
Arthur, Mordred, and Cruz continue running despite having reached their physical limits.
Vane: Whoo-hoo-hoo! Those kids can sure take a beating!
Vane: Oooh yeah! Team Chickadee's got some real oomph behind it!
Tornelio: W-we sure do...
Vane: All righty! I might as well join in!
Tornelio: Huh?
Vane: I'm getting antsy just standing here and watching, you know.
Vane: Anyhow, I've got a Team Chickadee to catch! Be right back!
Vane puts on a huge grin as he runs after Arthur and the others.
Watching the team from afar with bitter animosity is an irritated pair of eyes.
Henry: (Tch... Why do they get to be with the vice-captain...)
Henry: (What a load of crock...)
Proctor Knight: Henry! Focus!
Henry: Sorry! Going now!
Team Chickadee, their bodies exhausted from the day's workout, sleep like logs that night.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 2: Here Comes Team Chickadee! - Episode 2

Tornelio is nowhere to be seen the next morning. The team searches all over only to find him atop a tree in the nearby forest, crying out for help against monsters waiting below.

The team gathers at the training grounds again the next morning.
Vane: Hm? Where's Tornelio?
Arthur: Torne... lio...
Vane: You gonna be all right, Arthur? You're stumbling.
Mordred: No worries. I'll fix him right up.
Mordred rubs a mint leaf over Arthur.
Arthur: Yep! I'm all good!
Vane: Well... That was a quick turnaround. Anyway, you guys seen Tornelio by any chance?
Mordred: Not me.
Arthur: No clue about him.
Vane: How about you, Cruz.
Cruz: Same...
Vane: This puts us in a pickle...
Mordred: I'm sure he'll show up soon enough. Why don't we go ahead and start training?
Vane: We could, but...
Vane: He's a proud and honorable member of Team Chickadee. Whaddya say we go look for him together?
Arthur: Yessir! I was getting worried about him!
Vane: Always glad I can count on you, Arthur!
Mordred: Sigh... If you say so, Sir Vane...
Vane: Good to know you're coming along too, Mordred!
Vane: And you, Cruz?
Cruz: I'll accompany you if that's the order.
Vane: Good!
Commence Operation Find Tornelio!
Arthur: Yessir!
Mordred: Here we go...
Cruz: ...
Vane leads the team all over, from the barracks to inside the castle.
But even after half an hour of wandering about, Tornelio is nowhere to be seen.
Vane: Strange... He didn't turn up anywhere...
Arthur: Where could he have gone...
Mordred: Maybe you scared him off with the brutal workouts.
Vane: Aw, gimme a break. You don't know that for sure.
Vane: Have a little faith, will you?
Mordred: Of course.
Mordred: (Things are only gonna go downhill from here...)
Arthur: Where else haven't we searched?
Cruz: The forest...
Team Chickadee traverses the forest stretching between the dorms and training grounds.
Cruz looks up as if having noticed something.
Cruz: Hm?
Vane: Everything all right, Cruz?
Cruz: I sense someone down that way...
The team proceeds in the direction indicated by Cruz and is quickly confronted by Tornelio's voice.
Tornelio's Voice: H-heeelp! Please, anyone!
Vane: Tornelio! Hang in there!
Tornelio: Sir Vane! Guys!
Monster: Groaaar!
Arthur: M-monsters!
The monsters are all fired up, eagerly waiting to take a bite out of Tornelio in a tree.
The team gets into battle positions.
Mordred: Ready for it, Arthur?
Arthur: I was born ready!
Cruz: Let's go!
Vane: Hold it! Leave this one to me!
Arthur: B-but!
Mordred: We can do this too!
Cruz: Same...
Vane: I appreciate the sentiment. But I'm the team leader here.
Vane: Making sure that nothing happens to any one of you is my responsibility and mine alone! So just watch! I'll show you how it's done!

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 2: Here Comes Team Chickadee! - Episode 2: Scene 2

Tornelio reveals that he got into the ordeal by following a supposed shortcut to the training grounds he heard about from another applicant. Arthur suggests they all head out together from the next morning.

Vane helps Tornelio down from the tree after dispatching the monsters.
Vane: How'd you end up here in the first place?
Tornelio: Erm... Well... I overslept this morning and heard this way was faster to the training grounds...
Vane: So you took this route thinking it was a shortcut, bumped into monsters on the way, and climbed up the tree to save yourself?
Tornelio: Yes...
Arthur: Who the heck told you that?
Tornelio: I don't know his name, but he's probably from another team...
Mordred: They're making fools of us. We need to show them who they're messing with before they go overboard.
Tornelio: N-no, no, it's fine! It's my fault for sleeping in and getting lost to begin with!
Arthur: Hmm...
Tornelio: Really! Everything's okay! Let's just get on with the day.
Mordred: Well, if you put it that way...
Arthur: Mm...
Arthur: I've got it! Let's start going together from tomorrow!
Mordred: Heh... You can hardly get up in the morning yourself...
Arthur: We'll manage just fine if you're with us, Mordred!
Mordred: Hold it, you're putting this all on me now?
Vane: Hey, that's what friends are for, right?
Vane: I'll leave this morning business to you guys.
Vane: But, Tornelio, I'm always available if you need to talk. Team Chickadee's like a family to me.
Tornelio: I-I'll keep that in mind. Thanks so much, everyone!
Cruz: A family...
Vane: It was mostly Cruz, really. We couldn't have found you so fast without him.
Tornelio: Oh... Cruz...
Tornelio: Can't thank you enough, Cruz!
Cruz: Let's start heading back...
Vane: Right! Back to training, guys!
Arthur: Yessir!
Having collected themselves, the members of Team Chickadee resume basic training.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 2: Here Comes Team Chickadee! - Episode 3

Team Chickadee engages in strength training and running for days on end. When Mordred wonders if they might just be wasting time, Vane hands the team wooden swords and spurs them into attacking him.

Another day, another workout for Team Chickadee.
Vane: All right! Who's ready for another drill!
Mordred: The same routine again?
Vane: Yeah? You up for it?
Mordred: Um... I was wondering if only running and bodyweight exercises would really help us get stronger...
Arthur: Come to think of it... I heard the other teams are already practicing with swords!
Tornelio: O-oh really? Swords kind of scare me...
Cruz: Swordplay, eh?
Vane: Listen up, Team Chickadee!
Vane: What they do is their business! And what we do is ours!
Vane: Others will always be doing something different. Forget about them and look within yourself if you really want to improve.
Mordred: So you're saying push-ups, pull-ups, and whatnot will make us stronger?
Arthur: I want to become stronger too!
Vane: Hm... Looks like I'll have to show them the hard way...
Vane: All right, boys! Come at me with everything you've got!
Tornelio: Eep!
Mordred: We're having a battle already?
Vane: Using wooden practice swords of course! Let's see what you can do!
Arthur: Heheh! Huzzah!
Cruz: Whatever...
Tornelio: W-w-we're really going to battle Sir Vane?
Vane: Relax, we're just gonna spar! It's only to see where everyone's at!
Tornelio: O-okay...
Cruz: Let's do this...
Mordred: About time!
Arthur: Yeah!

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 2: Here Comes Team Chickadee! - Episode 3: Scene 2

After the sparring match, during which the team is at Vane's complete mercy, he takes the opportunity to instill in them a touch of chivalry—in particular the willingness to protect others. Although basic training continues, sword swinging is added to their routine.

Vane: Whew!
Mordred: Urk...
Arthur: Ngh...
Vane: Wahahaha! That all you've got?
Cruz: Huff... Huff... He's too strong...
Tornelio: I-I give up...
Vane: Not bad at all for rookies.
Mordred: Damn... I couldn't land a single blow...
Arthur: That was amazing!
Arthur: Sir Vane's muscles aren't just for show after all!
Vane: Heheh! I'm not Vice-Captain for nothing!
Arthur: I just didn't expect you to be so strong! You've left me speechless!
Mordred: We came at you all at once, but we didn't stand a chance...
Cruz: This sucks...
Tornelio: I guess I'm just not fit to use a sword...
Vane: Nah, I'd say you all put up a good fight!
Arthur: With proper training, can we become big and strong like you?
Vane: Absolutely!
Vane: Just don't turn into some miserable wretch so consumed with power that you start hurting others for the heck of it.
Vane: What we're trying to obtain here is the power to protect. Got that, Arthur?
Arthur: Yessir!
Vane: I want all of you in the team to promise me that... What do you say, Mordred?
Mordred: Understood.
Vane: Good! Chivalry is what makes a knight!
Tornelio: Chivalry?
Vane: That's right! Strength, bravery, honor, purity, loyalty, etiquette...
Vane: There's tons of ways to look at it, but I see it as the will to protect someone.
Cruz: The will to protect someone...
All in the team reflect on Vane's words.
Vane: You know, Lancey's chivalry level is over... Let's just say he's on a whole 'nother level!
Mordred: Really! Is that even possible?
Vane: Heheh! All right, back to training, boys!
Vane: I'm adding sword swinging to the list of exercises starting now!
All Four: Yessir!
Basic training continues for Team Chickadee.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 2: Here Comes Team Chickadee! - Episode 4

A delectable smell wafts from the dormitory on Team Chickadee's return from training. They follow the luscious scent to find Vane cooking up a storm. A scrumptious dinner is had by all that night.

Day in, day out, Team Chickadee continues to endure the intense training.
They return to the dormitory, exhausted as usual.
Arthur: Mnng... I'm about to pass out...
Mordred: We're almost at the dorms. You can pass out all you want there.
Tornelio: Thanks for piggybacking me back all the time, Cruz...
Cruz: No worries...
Arthur: Mm... Sniff, sniff... You guys smell that?
Tornelio: Yeah, it smells great!
Mordred: Hm... Why don't we see where it's coming from.
Cruz: This way...
Arthur: How do you know, Cruz?
Cruz: I just do...
Mordred: Lead the way.
What awaits them is a sight no one could have imagined.
Vane: This should just about do it...
Arthur: Sir Vane!
Vane: What the? You guys are back already?
Mordred: What are you even doing here?
Vane: Can't you tell? I'm cooking!
Tornelio: Cooking? Why would the vice-captain of an order of knights ever have to cook?
Vane: Why? 'Cuz I enjoy cooking!
Cruz: You... enjoy it?
Vane: Anyhoo! Good of you all to show up! I just whipped up some real fine grub!
Vane: Have a seat, boys!
They each take a seat around the table.
Vane: I bet you're all starving! Go ahead and eat up!
Arthur: Mm... This looks good!
Mordred: Just a whiff gets me salivating...
Tornelio: W-wow...
Cruz: Gulp...
Vane hands out the dishes one by one.
Vane: Let's see how you all like my T-bone steak and hot, steamy soup!
Vane: Try dipping this bread straight outta the oven in the soup. You're gonna love it!
Seeing that everyone is all seated and ready to feast, Vane clasps his hands together.
Vane: I'm diggin' in!
All Four: Me too!
Cheery laughter fills the dining hall of the dormitory that night.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 3: Reaching Great Heights - Episode 1

Though the same cannot be said for other teams, Team Chickadee's attendance for daily training remains nearly flawless. Lancelot tells the remaining participants that mountain climbing is the next stage of the test, and then introduces (Captain) who will be joining them.

Days later the number of participants coming to the training grounds daily have fallen in number.
But every member in Team Chickadee still shows up without fail.
Henry: (Tsk... Can't believe those punks are still around...)
Henry resentfully glares at the team from afar.
Mordred: Hey, Arthur! Wake up!
Arthur: Mnngg...
Tornelio: Oh, someone's coming!
Lancelot appears before the participants.
Lancelot: You've all done well making it this far. I now have an announcement to make.
Lancelot: We in the Order of the White Dragons have more opportunities than ever before to interact with skyfarers.
Lancelot: I asked one skyfarer in particular to lend a helping hand with this whole examination.
Lancelot: Allow me to do the introductions.
Lancelot gestures to (Captain), along with Vyrn and Lyria.
Vyrn: Heyo! Nice to meet ya all!
Lyria: Erm... Thanks for having us! Let's all work together to get through this test!
(Captain) is next in line to make a comment.
  1. Sup. I run my own crew.
  2. I'm gonna go hard on you.

Choose: Sup. I run my own crew.
Arthur: Wow, captain of a crew? That's super impressive for someone so much younger than Sir Vane!
Mordred: I bet this person's real strong...

Choose: I'm gonna go hard on you.
Mordred: Well, I wasn't expecting that one.
Arthur: I can't wait to get to know (Captain) better!
Continue 1
Awed murmuring spreads through the crowd.
Vane: Uh-oh... Settle down, everybody!
Lancelot: I still need to tell you the next stage of the examination...
Lancelot: You'll be climbing a mountain. You may begin with your teams as soon as you've finished preparations in town.
Lancelot: This climb will be the final stage. Good luck to you all.
The participants begin to scatter after Lancelot's closing remark.
They all enjoy a short reprieve before heading into town with their teams.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 3: Reaching Great Heights - Episode 2

The team and the crew get to know each other better on their way up the mountain path, with (Captain) dispatching a few monsters along the way.

Team Chickadee is among the applicants traversing the mountain path.
Vane: You're the best, (Captain)! Helping us with this entrance examination thing when you've got so much else to take care of!
Vyrn: We were definitely in for a shocker when we got the request out of the blue!
Lyria: Teehee... I'm just glad we get to climb a mountain together!
(Captain) simply smiles in Vane's direction.
Vane: Ah, I almost forgot. I haven't introduced the guys I'm overseeing in my team yet!
Vane: Here's the childhood-buddy pair, Arthur and Mordred!
Arthur: Nice to meet you. I'm Arthur!
Mordred: Greetings. I'm Mordred.
Vyrn: Heya! Nice to meetcha!
Vane: And here's the kindhearted Tornelio and the coolheaded Cruz.
Tornelio: Ah, hello there! My name's Tornelio!
Cruz: I'm Cruz...
Lyria: Hello, Tornelio, Cruz! Let's make this an event to remember!
Vane: And that's all of 'em! Whaddya think? Pretty plucky group I've got here, eh?
They continue climbing the mountain while getting to know each other better.
Arthur: Sir Vane, what kind of a skyfarer is (Captain)?
Vane: Well... That's gonna be a reeeaaally long story.
Vane: Why don't you go up to the monsters ahead and show each other what you can do?

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 3: Reaching Great Heights - Episode 3

While the team gushes at (Captain)'s prowess in battle, Lancelot approaches and asks Vane how Team Chickadee is doing.

Vane: Wahahaha! Now you see how strong (Captain) is?
Arthur: Wow! How did you pull that off?
Mordred: It's no wonder Sir Vane speaks so highly of you!
Having borne witness to (Captain)'s phenomenal skill, the two snort in excitement.
Arthur: You're crazy strong, (Captain)! Can you please teach me that move you just did?
Mordred: Don't hog the skyfarers all to yourself, Arthur! I want to learn that move too!
Vyrn: Hahaha! You're a hit everywhere you go, (Captain)!
Lyria: Just goes to show it was definitely worth coming here.
Vane: Geez... How mercenary can you guys be?
Arthur and Mordred are entrenched in conversation with (Captain) as they continue along the mountain path.
Tornelio: Sigh... I could never hope to be that good...
Cruz: No need to, Tornelio.
Tornelio: Huh?
Cruz: Just focus on your strengths...
Tornelio: My strengths? I wonder what those are...
Cruz: Beats me... But I'm sure there's a way for you to fight alongside them.
Tornelio: Yeah, you must be right... Thanks for the talk, Cruz!
Vane: You'll be fine, Tornelio! I'll help you think of something!
Vane: Appreciate the kind words, Cruz!
Cruz: I didn't exactly do anything...
Having spotted (Captain) and the others, Lancelot approaches.
Lancelot: Heheh. Glad you're enjoying yourself, (Captain).
Arthur: Captain Lancelot!
Mordred: Captain Lancelot... How did you meet (Captain)?
Lancelot: (Captain)...
Lancelot: Did so much to help us when Feendrache fell to calamity.
Vane: Siegfried and Percival of the Order of the Black Dragons had nothing but the highest praise for (Captain)!
Mordred: No way! (Captain)'s friends with the Dragonslayer and the Lord of Flames?
Arthur: What! Even they look up to you?
Vyrn: Ooh yeah! We even traveled with them at one point!
Arthur & Mordred: Whooaa!
Arthur: What are they like?
Lyria: Um... I find Siegfried and Percival to be really, really strong... and really nice.
Lyria: Right, (Captain)?
  1. Speaking of Siegfried...
  2. Speaking of Percival...

Choose: Speaking of Siegfried...
Lyria: We all searched for seashells and watched fireworks together at the beach!

Choose: Speaking of Percival...
Vyrn: We looked after some kid who got lost. Oh, and there was that time we rescued those marmoks!
Continue 1
(Captain) fields a barrage of questions about the knightly duo.
Lancelot speaks to Vane in the meanwhile.
Lancelot: So, Vane, how did they end up faring?
Vane: They got along pretty well with the others on the team. No signs of trouble either if you ask me!
Lancelot: Hm... Glad to hear it.
Vane: Yep, just doing my part!
Vane: How are things on your end?
Lancelot: The examination is proceeding smoothly.
Lancelot: Couldn't have done it without your help, Vane.
Vane: Guess it was worth all that trial and error, huh!
Lancelot: Heh... Definitely... Let's keep it up for the final stretch.
The onslaught of questions from Team Chickadee continues on their way up the mountain.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 3: Reaching Great Heights - Episode 4

The bonds forged by Team Chickadee through rigorous training are felt by all as they camp out for the night, feasting on Vane's delicious cooking. The howling of a pack of hungry wolves disturbs the happy moment. Vane fights alongside (Captain) to take on the alpha wolf.

(Captain) and the others find an open space to camp out before the sun sets.
Tornelio: Can you get that end?
Cruz: Mm-hm.
Tornelio & Cruz: Ready... Now!
Tornelio and Cruz are setting up the tent.
Beside them are Arthur and Mordred, trying to start a fire.
Arthur: Ffff! Ffff!
Arthur: There's our fire!
Mordred: Gimme that. I'll make the fire bigger.
The two get a fire going with practiced hands.
Vane and the skyfarers return from a little chat about how they'll handle this last part of the test.
Vane: Ooh, you boys are good at this!
Arthur: The fire's good to go!
Tornelio: Tent's ready too!
Vyrn: Sweet! You guys pulled that off lickety-split!
Lyria: Thanks for setting things up for all of us!
Vane: This is some impressive handiwork here!
Vane: Welp, time to start making use of this fire.
Vane begins meal preparation for the night.
As the sun finally starts to set, Vane puts the finishing touches on the meal.
Vane: Guys! Food's ready!
Arthur: Yum! That looks finger-licking good!
Mordred: Love that smell!
Vane: Heheh, you can say that again!
Tornelio: It's amazing how you can prepare such a meal even in the mountains!
Cruz: It's impressive...
Vane: Heh, It's just a little something to tide us over while we're up here!
Vane: But enough talk! It's chow time!
All Four: Yessir!
Vane: You guys ought to join in too!
Vyrn: Can we really, Vane?
Lyria: Yay! We get to try out Vane's cooking!
Vane: Hey, you can try out my cooking anytime! Anyhow, why don't you guys get yourselves seated!
The crew joins the others around the campfire.
They all smack their lips with every bite of Vane's excellent cuisine.
Friendly chitchat resumes after the scrumptious meal.
Although it is not something tangible, the bonds forged from their long and arduous training sessions can clearly be felt.
Arthur: Whew, I'm stuffed.
Cruz: That was good...
Mordred: Heh... This is the kind of training I prefer...
Tornelio: Mountain climbing's no cinch for me, but if it means we get to eat food this good, I'd gladly do it again!
Vane: C'mon now! I'm glad you like my food...
Vane: But just keep in mind that we're not here for a picnic!
???: Arh-wooo!
Just then the sound of beastly roars echo around them.
Vane: That's the howling of wolves!
Vyrn: Wolves out here? What's happening all of a sudden?
Lyria: Yeah... I wonder...
Lancelot calls out to the test-takers.
Lancelot: A pack of wolves are on the hunt!
Lancelot: Everyone gather around your team leaders!
The participants immediately congregate in their respective teams.
Lancelot: Stay calm, stay together, and stay on the defensive!
Wolf: Grrr...
Lancelot: Rgh... They've got us surrounded.
Lancelot: When the battle breaks out, follow the directions of your team leader closely!
Vane: You guys stay by my side!
Arthur: Sir Vane! Let us help!
Mordred: We can fight too!
Vane: No! I need you guys to stay back for support.
Lancelot: These wolves are on the offensive. If even a few of us panic and give them an opening, they're going to take it.
Lancelot: When going up against groups of enemies, having your most skilled fighters target their leader is a tried-and-true strategy.
The participants listen intently, careful to catch every word.
Alpha Wolf: Graa-oooh!
Lancelot: Considering that wolf's size, I'd say it's the one running the pack.
Vane: Sure looks that way to me!
Lancelot: Vane, (Captain), and I will dispatch that alpha wolf.
Lancelot: Vane, (Captain)! Let's go!
Alpha Wolf: Groaar!

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 4: Storied Pasts - Episode 1

Late into the night, Henry and a few others come by to pick a fight with Arthur and Mordred. The two remember a promise they made earlier with Vane—to use their power to protect—and do not retaliate. Vane comes in to break up the altercation, praising the two for not fighting back, and invites them for a walk.

Lancelot, Vane, and (Captain) successfully fend off the wolves.
Bedtime comes soon enough, and they all slip into their tents.
Tornelio: Where did Mordred and Arthur go?
Cruz: They'll be back soon enough.
Arthur and Mordred are surrounded by applicants some distance away from the tents.
Henry: You dumb twerps better not be getting carried away.
Mordred: What's it to you?
Who the heck are you anyway?
Arthur: Mordred, let's go.
Henry: Heh, not on my watch...
Henry and his friends surround the pair.
Mordred: What's all this about now?
Henry: My name's Henry. Unlike you sad, miserable wretches from your lowly orphanage, I'm 100 percent nobility through and through.
Mordred: So what you're trying to say is you're a good-for-nothing piece of trash. It figures.
Henry: Heh, anyone can tell you're just a peasant with one glance at your stride.
Henry: Just because you can hold your own despite your upbringing, and the fact that Lancelot and Vane have their sights set on you means jack squat. You got that?
Mordred: I do what I want, and I sure as hell don't need to take this crap from the likes of you.
Henry: Looks like somebody doesn't know their place. I guess that's to be expected from a pathetic lowlife who fantasizes about becoming knight captain.
Sardonic chuckles fill the air.
Mordred: Say that again to my face!
Arthur holds him back before things get out of hand.
Arthur: (Mordred... Don't you remember the promise we made with Vane?)
Mordred: (Yeah... Chivalry, right. I don't need to waste my breath on this guy.)
Henry: Hey now, what's the matter? So scared that we've resorted to mumbling?
Arthur: It's not a fantasy—our ambitions to become knight captain are true.
Arthur: And when we do, we'll use our power to protect the weak.
Henry almost feels overwhelmed by Arthur's integrity and the forthrightness in his eyes.
Henry: Tch...
Mordred: We don't need some narcissistic shmuck to give us crap about our goal.
Henry: Not a fantasy, but your goal? Your ambitions?
Henry: Ha! Switch up the words all you want. It ain't gonna happen!
Henry: Maybe I just need to beat some sense into you!
Arthur catches Henry's jab with his palm.
Arthur: Stop this already.
Henry: Rgh!
Arthur: Think what you will of us.
Arthur: But we're dead serious about our dreams. I ask that you don't mock us for it.
He brings the volatile situation to a relative calm.
Henry: D-damn you!
Stop standing around and get them!
The others put up their dukes and get ready for a brawl, while Mordred and Arthur show no sign of resistance.
Vane: Hey, what are you all doing over there! It's time to hit the sack!
Henry: Tch... Lucky chumps...
Vane: All right, boys! Back to your own teams!
Henry's group gradually scatters until no one is left.
Vane: You did well...
Arthur: Huh?
Vane: You kept your promise with me.
Mordred: Heh... A punch or two from those spineless wimps wouldn't have hurt anyway...
Vane: In a way you saved them by not lashing out. I'm proud of you two.
Mordred: Humph, no skin off my back.
Vane: What do you say we go take a walk?
Mordred: Huh?
Arthur: What for?
Somewhat puzzled by Vane's intentions, the two follow closely behind him.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 4: Storied Pasts - Episode 2

During the walk, Arthur and Mordred reveal more about their past in the orphanage. Filled with emotion, Vane lets slip that he knew the two were trying to beat the bill back in the restaurant. They swear to Vane to refrain from any wrongdoing in the future.

Vane, Arthur, and Mordred take a stroll along a mountain path.
Mordred: Uh, so why are we taking a walk in the middle of the night?
Vane: Back in the day, Lancey and I used to go out on walks like this whenever we had to get something off our chests.
Vane: Oh, wait, did I say Lancey? I meant Captain Lancelot!
Mordred: Pssh... Kinda late for that...
Arthur: That's the first time I've heard you call him Captain Lancelot!
Vane: Really? Guess I'm so used to calling him Lancey, it just comes out, you know?
Mordred: You two seem to really get along.
Vane: We go way back! We practically grew up together.
Mordred: Oh yeah? That means...
Arthur: It's just like me and Mordred!
Vane: That's why seeing you two really brings back the memories.
Vane: Truth is, after the interview stage, I asked Lancey to appoint me as your team leader.
Arthur: No way! Did you really?
Mordred: I appreciate you going out of your way to cover for us, but...
Vane: Was it something Henry said?
Mordred: Mm...
Mordred: Sure is... Can't be helped really.
Vane: I know you don't want me to worry about this whole thing with Henry, but hey...
Arthur: Hm?
Vane: I'm the one who can't help it as your team leader. And I'm sure Henry's got his own leader watching over him.
Vane: Lancey, on the other hand, isn't part of any one team, giving him an impartial view of everyone partaking in the test.
Vane: So don't you boys worry too much about it.
Vane: You could also say Henry's just a jealous fanboy of mine.
Arthur: Ahaha! That kinda makes sense actually!
Mordred: Thanks for the talk...
Vane: Wahahaha! No need to thank me—just keep up the good work!
With a hearty chuckle, Vane pats the two on the back.
Vane: You two grew up together in an orphanage, right? Must've been through lots of rough times together...
Arthur: Well, that's for sure.
Mordred: Yeah... We've been through a lot.
Thugs: This'll teach ya!
Mordred: Urk!
Thugs: Gyahahaha! Snotty little brats! You orphans got some nerve standin' up to us!
Mordred: Give us back... our money... We need that to pay for dinner...
Thugs: Shut the hell up! I could care less if ya damn pipsqueaks starved to death!
Arthur: Stop it! Let Mordred go!
Thugs: Back off, ya dumb runt! Don't touch me wit' yer disgusting germ-infested hands!
Arthur: Ngh...
Mordred: Arthur! I told you to stay back!
Arthur: No! I'm not going anywhere!
Thugs: Tsk... Enough wit' you rug rats! I'm gettin' outta here.
Thugs: Don't forget to bring yer money next time! Ya try to run away and I'll slaughter the lot of ya!
Arthur: Mordred! Are you okay?
Mordred: Shoot... I hate that we can't do anything about those scumbags.
Arthur: Let's talk to the sister about it!
Mordred: No... We can't bring anyone in the orphanage into this...
Arthur: But...
Mordred: I'll make it all work somehow...
Arthur: Okay... I'll do what I can to help.
Mordred: No...
Arthur: Why not!
Mordred: I have to become strong enough so that those lowlives won't think to touch us ever again.
Arthur: Then I'll become strong with you!
Mordred: I don't need a crybaby by my side.
Arthur: Then I won't cry anymore!
Mordred: Ugh, fine, whatever... Suit yourself.
Arthur: Heheh! That's a promise! We're gonna get stronger together!
Mordred: Sigh... You can be really stubborn sometimes.
With bruises all over and dirt covering their bodies, Arthur and Mordred spread themselves across the ground.
Mordred: Say, Arthur...
Arthur: Huh?
Mordred: Is it our fault that we're orphans?
Arthur: That's...
Mordred: I want to get out of here one day and go to the capital...
Arthur: The royal capital, eh...
Mordred: Will you come along, Arthur?
Arthur: You bet I will!
His big, burly shoulders slightly quivering from hearing their painful episode, Vane wraps his arms around the two in a tight, reassuring embrace.
Vane: Sniff... Sniff...
Vane: Waaah! Man, you guys really had it rough!
Arthur: I... I can't breathe...
Mordred: B-but we're all good now. So for goodness sake, can you please stop crying!
Vane: Sniffle... Oh, and sorry about that sudden bro hug!
Vane: But no matter how hungry you get, jumping the bill at a restaurant's an absolute no-no!
All Three: Oops!

Huh?

Huh?
Arthur: Wh-what do you mean?
Mordred: Um... Sir Vane?
Vane: Er... Guess I let it slip...
Vane reveals an earlier conversation with Lancelot.
Mordred: So he knew...
Arthur: Captain Lancelot really is incredible!
Mordred: You idiot, that doesn't matter anymore. We've lost all hope of passing now.
Arthur: Eh? You think so?
Mordred: There's no way any self-respecting order of knights would knowingly let criminals into their ranks.
Vane: Whoa, let's not get hasty with the assumptions now!
Vane: It's true what you've done is unforgivable, no matter the reason.
Vane: But if you two promise to refrain from wrongdoing for good in the future, you still have a chance at this.
Vane: What do you say? Can you promise me that?
Arthur & Mordred: Yes...
Vane: All right, pinky swear.
Arthur, Mordred, and Vane firmly lock pinkies.
Vane: Good! Once this test is over, I'll go with you two to apologize to everyone you've ever caused trouble for!
Arthur & Mordred: Wha? Really!
Wha? No way!
Vane: It's settled then! You two better get to remembering all the bad stuff you've done!
Mordred: You're kidding, right?
Arthur: Mordred! Let's do our best to think back and remember it all!
And thus Mordred and Arthur promise to refrain from any more wrongdoing.
The three realize that they've come to know each other a lot better as they tread the mountain pass in the darkness.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 4: Storied Pasts - Episode 3

Arthur and Mordred go at length on what they perceive to be the ideal knight. Before long they realize that they are lost. When monsters show up, Vane sees it as a chance to show them he still has things under control despite getting them lost.

While discussing their respective pasts during the stroll, the topic of their current stage in the examination process—mountain climbing—comes up.
Vane: You two have any idea why we even make mountain climbing part of the test to begin with?
Arthur: To test our mettle?
Mordred: More like to test our teamwork.
Vane: You're both right. But there's something else.
Vane: There's a tale revolving around these mountains...
Arthur: What kind of tale?
Vane: An ancient dragon once dwelled up here.
Vane: Fearing its existence, the king ordered his knights to slay the dragon, a feat they miraculously accomplished.
Vane: But there was one knight who took pity on the dragon despite its monstrous nature and consecrated a shrine in honor of it.
Vane: The bravery and purity of heart demonstrated came to serve as an example.
Vane: A shining example for all aspiring knights to follow—that's why we come to this mountain.
Arthur: Wow! That's a super cool story! I never would've guessed!
Mordred: Heh... A shrine for a monster? Really?
Vane: Well, I can't say for sure whether the story's fact or fiction, but I hope it gives you an idea of the knight you hope to become one day.
Vane: When we get to the shrine tomorrow, you'll be making a wish—a wish about what kind of knight you hope to become!
Mordred: The knight I hope to become...
Arthur: Hm...
Vane: (There's countless other jobs out there if they're just looking for money...)
Vane: (I wanna know what's driving these two, whatever that might be...)
Arthur: Say, Mordred. You remember that story the sister told us about?
Mordred: Oh, that? How could I ever forget!
Vane: Ooh, tell me, tell me! I wanna know too!
Arthur: The sister used to tell us of knights who fought to protect everyone when war broke out near the orphanage.
Mordred: We were still toddlers at the time, so it's not like we saw the knights for ourselves, but...
Mordred: Because it was the war that turned us into orphans.
Arthur: It got us into thinking of what we can do to prevent others from going through what we had to.
Mordred: Becoming a knight seemed the shortest path to that goal.
Vane: Must be a painful thing to remember...
Vane: But now I'm sure you two have what it takes to become splendid knights.
Vane speaks to the two in an unusually serious tone.
Arthur: Anyway... Do you happen to know where we are, Sir Vane?
Vane: Right next to where we pitched our tents.
Vane: See! They're all right down that way!
Mordred: Um, I don't spot a single tent... Are you sure it was this way?
Vane: You don't see the tents? You're kidding! That's impossible!
Arthur: Um... Sir Vane...
Mordred: Is it possible...
Arthur & Mordred: We're lost?
Vane: Wahahaha! There's no way that'd happen with me leading the way!
Vane: C'mon, follow my lead!
The brush in front of Vane rustles as if in response to his approach.
Vane: Uh-oh, it looks like our friends came out here looking for—
Monster: Graa-oooh!
Vane: Nope! Too good to be true!
Arthur: Sir Vane!
Mordred: Arthur, we're joining in on the fight!
Vane: You two stay back! I can handle them alone!
Vane: Besides, I gotta show you guys I've still got things under control despite getting us lost!
Mordred: (Psst, Arthur... Did he just admit we're lost...)
Arthur: (Sigh... What do we do now?)
Mordred: (Why don't we just leave it to Sir Vane?)
Arthur: (Yeah, seems like the best option for now...)
Vane: Geez... Monsters pop outta nowhere, and those two are quakin' in their boots...
Vane: But no matter, it's my duty to keep 'em safe as their team leader!

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 4: Storied Pasts - Episode 4

The trio finally returns to camp, where they find Tornelio and Cruz anxiously awaiting their return. They all cheer each other on for the final day of the entrance examination and turn in for the night.

With the monsters defeated, Vane, Arthur, and Mordred return to camp.
Vane: G'night, you two!
Arthur & Mordred: Good night!
Arthur and Mordred go off into their own tent.
They managed to make it back just before a search party was sent out.
Tornelio: You're back! We got worried because you were out so long!
Arthur: Huh? Uh, yeah, thanks... You two were still up waiting for us?
Cruz: Where'd you go?
Mordred: We went on a walk with Sir Vane before getting lost...
Tornelio: Aah. Well, I'm just glad you made it back safe and sound!
Arthur: Sorry for making you worry... You could've gone to sleep ahead of us though.
Cruz: You expect us to go to sleep when half our team is missing?
Mordred: Rgh... You're right. That's our bad.
Cruz: If Sir Vane weren't with you, we'd all be out there looking for you right now.
Arthur: We messed up! Sorry!
Cruz: Forget the apologies. We should get some sleep already.
Tornelio: Yeah, we have another early morning tomorrow.
Mordred: Whew... I'm beat. Time to hit the hay.
Arthur: See you in the morning.
Tornelio: Mm... Good night.
Mordred: Night.
Cruz: Night...
The members of Team Chickadee crawl under their blankets and call it a night.
Arthur: Everyone awake?
Mordred: What's wrong?
Arthur: Just the thought that this whole test ends tomorrow keeps me up...
Tornelio: Yeah, it kind of makes me feel lonely too...
Cruz: ...
Mordred: We'll probably end up as knights-in-training together and continue wherever we left off anyway.
Arthur: Oh, you're right!
Tornelio: You three will probably pass... But I'm not so sure I can say the same for myself...
Mordred: You'll be all right.
Mordred: You stuck to your guns and carried yourself through this whole test.
Tornelio: You think so? That's really reassuring coming from you, Mordred!
Cruz: ...
Can we get some shut eye already?
Cruz: Unless you guys want to fail on the account of not getting enough sleep.
Mordred: Hahah. Cruz is right. Better hit the sack for real this time.
Arthur: Agreed. Sorry for waking you.
Tornelio: Mm... I'm really glad to have been a part of this team.
Tornelio: Good night.
Arthur: Good night.
Mordred: Night.
Cruz: Night.
The final day of the examination comes to an end.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 5: Shrine of the Ancient Dragon - Episode 1

Lancelot explains that the applicants will have to declare the sort of knight they each wish to become upon reaching the dragon shrine inside the cave. However, the shrine begins to collapse shortly after their arrival.

All involved in this mountain-climbing exercise reach the summit on the next day.
Lancelot offers words of praise to the applicants lined up at the mountaintop.
Lancelot: Splendid work, everyone. You've come very far. Just hang in there a bit longer.
Lancelot: Your next objective is to reach the dragon shrine inside this cave.
Lancelot tells the legend of the ancient dragon shrine.
Lancelot: Look within and ask yourself why it is you wish to become a knight.
The applicants place their hands by their chests as if searching for a truth hidden deep inside them.
Lancelot: You may proceed with your teams whenever you're ready.
Lancelot: (Captain), I hope you'll follow behind the rest of us.
Vyrn: You got it!
Lyria: It's kind of exciting that we'll get to visit such a unique shrine!
Vane: All right, Team Chickadee! Let's follow the others inside!
Vyrn: Woo-hoo!
Lyria: Let's go with Vane's group!
Mordred: So far, so good.
Arthur: I thought there might be more monsters to deal with.
Tornelio: Huff... Huff... I'm exhausted...
Cruz: You need to work on your endurance...
Tornelio: Right...
Mordred: I was expecting more of a challenge. This feels like the total opposite.
Just then Henry comes by to pick on Mordred.
Henry: Tch... Damn scrubs acting like the test is already over.
Mordred: You wanna say that again?
Tornelio: Ah, it's him...
Mordred: What about this loser?
Tornelio: Um... He's the one that told me about the shortcut...
Mordred: So that's what happened. I figured it was your doing, you son of a—
Henry: I have no idea what you're talking about.
Mordred: Stop playing dumb.
Arthur: Mordred! We're not here to fight amongst each other!
Tornelio: I-it's fine! I'm already over it!
Mordred: Humph, I've wasted enough time on him already.
Arthur: Then let's get going!
Tornelio: Yeah, before we get left behind!
Mordred: I hear you.
Mordred continues down the cave after Arthur and Tornelio.
Henry: Wuss...
Cruz stands alone with a puzzled expression.
Cruz: (Something seems off...)
Arthur: Cruz, you okay? Better catch up before we leave you!
Cruz: Ah, it's nothing... I'm on my way.
Lancelot continues to lead Team Chickadee and the other applicants up the mountain.
A short while after, they reach an open space with an old, dilapidated stone monument.
Lancelot: This is the shrine dedicated to the ancient dragon.
Lancelot: I'd like you all to line up now in your teams.
Vane: Team Chickadee! In formation!
Arthur: Yessir!
Mordred: Mm-hm.
Tornelio: Ah, yes sir!
Cruz: ...
Vane: Something wrong, Cruz?
Cruz: ...!
Cruz: It's nothing...
Vane: Good, good. Just checking.
Vane: If you're not feeling well, be sure to let me know!
Cruz: I'm okay...
Lancelot: Now each of you will go up to the shrine and express your ambitions for becoming a knight.
Vyrn: Ooh, it's about to start.
Lyria: I'm getting butterflies just from watching.
However, things go awry just as they all try to line up in front of the monument.
A mysterious spell seems to have activated, causing the shrine to begin collapsing.
Lyria: Eep!
Vyrn: What the? What's going on in here?
Lancelot: Rgh! Fall back, everyone!
Vane: Don't get any closer to the monument!
Lancelot, Vane, and (Captain) draw their weapons, getting ready to protect everyone.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 5: Shrine of the Ancient Dragon - Episode 2

The shrine comes apart, giving way to a bone dragon and skeletons. The dragon is the very one who fell in ages past—given life again—as well as the skeletons of the knights who died fighting against it. Lancelot and Vane ask the crew to help evacuate the applicants while they fight off the monsters.

???: Fshrooroo...
An enormous skeletal dragon rises from the clouds of dust.
The sudden threat causes a panic to ensue among everyone present.
Vane: The heck! What's with all these bony bones?
Lancelot: Could the ancient dragon of legend have been resurrected?
???: Fshroo...
Short groans mewl emphatically from the bone dragon as a black mist emerges from its head, covering the surrounding area.
Skeletons begin to take form one after another as if in response to the black mist.
Skeleton Knight: Uaahh...
Lancelot: Could these be the remains of the knights who fought and died against the ancient dragon?
Skeleton Knight: Aaaagh!
The skeleton knights target the proctor knight nearest to them.
Proctor Knight: Ngh...
Lancelot: Hyaagh!
Skeleton Knight: Uaahh...
Lancelot: Are you okay!
Proctor Knight: Y-yes... It's just a scratch.
Lancelot: Damn it! What's happening?
Vyrn: This is what we came along for! Let's get medieval on 'em!
Lancelot: I appreciate the sentiment, but we will handle this!
Lancelot: Can you just make sure the applicants make it out safely before the exit is cut off?
  1. Leave it to us!
  2. But...

Choose: Leave it to us!
Lancelot: I owe you one, (Captain)!
Vane: We're counting on you, (Captain)!

Choose: But...
Vane: Heheh! It'll be fine! No need to worry about us!
Lancelot: We'll handle things here! Just go!
Continue 1
Lyria: Come on, (Captain)!
(Captain) nods and heads out the way they came in.
Arthur: Sir Vane! We'll do what we can to help!
Mordred: Yeah! They look like they'll go down fast anyway!
Tornelio: Erm... I... Uhm...
Cruz: I'm ready...
Vane: No!
Vane: I appreciate you wanting to help, but you'll just get in the way!
Vane: I need you to help everyone else get out while we buy time!
Arthur: But...
Vane: No buts! You have your orders!
Vane: Sides, do you really think I'd lose to a bunch of monsters?
Arthur: N-no... Just... please stay alive.
Vane: No one's kicking the bucket today! Now go already!
Mordred: C'mon, Arthur!
Arthur: Okay, I'm ready!
Skeleton Knight: Uooogh...
Lancelot: Facing overwhelming numbers with a small force while keeping an escape route open won't be easy...
Vane: We've been through worse more times than I can count!
Lancelot: True enough. Let's show them what we can do!
Vane: Yeah! It's clobberin' time!
Lancelot: The rest of you watch our back!
Leader Knight: Yes sir!
Lancelot: To battle then!

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 5: Shrine of the Ancient Dragon - Episode 3

A large throng of skeletons appears around the crew, forcing them too to fight so that everyone else can escape.

Lancelot and Vane buy time for the others to escape.
The crew and Arthur's group split up to guide the applicants out of the cave.
Lyria and Vyrn work with Arthur and Tornelio to lead the applicants toward the exit.
Vyrn: It's this way, guys! This way!
Lyria: Please remain calm, everyone!
Skeleton Knight: Gwooh!
Lyria: Eep!
Arthur: Hyaagh!
Skeleton Knight: Guaah...
Tornelio: A-are you okay?
Lyria: Y-yes... Thank you...
Arthur: We're almost outta here! C'mon!
Vyrn: On our way!
Meanwhile (Captain) and others are fighting off a seemingly endless horde of skeletons.
Skeleton Knight: Uaagh!
A skeleton climbs out from the ground right behind Mordred.
Mordred: Tch!
Cruz: Haagh!
Cruz cuts down the skeleton knight with a single swipe.
Mordred: Nice save, Cruz.
Cruz: We still need you with us...
  1. Seconded.

Choose: Seconded.
Mordred: Hm? I could've dodged that attack easily, you know?
Cruz: We need to go, Mordred...
Mordred: Right! I know!
Mordred: C'mon, everyone! Exit's this way!
(Captain), Mordred, and Cruz work together to carve open an escape route.
The other applicants who ran off in a panic begin to gather.
Henry: You guys again...
Arthur: Henry! You need to go now!
Henry: Tch... Why do I have to follow your orders?
Mordred: You idiot! There's nothing but trouble that way!
Henry: Can it! Mind your own business!
Tornelio: Ack!
Cruz: You okay?
Tornelio: Yeah, thanks...
Henry brushes off the others and goes off on his own.
Mordred: I should worry about the other applicants first...
Arthur: Mordred, behind you!
A mob of skeletons appear around (Captain) and the others.
Tornelio: Aaaah!
Mordred: Damn! It's just one after another!
Cruz: We'll be surrounded at this rate...
Mordred: I know! But there are others who haven't escaped yet! Arthur, we need to clear a path!
Arthur: Of course!
(Captain) cautions Arthur and Mordred against returning to fight off more skeletons.
Mordred: What's wrong!
Arthur: (Captain)?
  1. Leave this to me.
  2. You need to go.

Choose: Leave this to me.
Arthur: B-but... This is too much for one person!
Vyrn: We'll be fine! People don't call us skyfarers for nothin'!
Vyrn: It's easier for us to go all out if no one else is around!

Choose: You need to go.
Mordred: No! We can't just leave everything to you, (Captain)!
Lyria: No need to worry about us! We're pretty strong even if we might not look it!
Vyrn: It's easier for us to go all out if no one else is around!
Continue 1
Mordred: Well, if you say so...
Arthur: You'd better not lose, (Captain)!
Tornelio: Thank you, (Captain).
Cruz: The rest is up to you...
Arthur's group leaves the crew behind and gets back to guiding the applicants.
Skeleton Knight: Uooogh!
Vyrn: Oh, no you don't! You boneheads are gonna stay here and humor me!
Lyria: (Captain)! Let's hold them off!
Leaving the clamor of battle behind them, the applicants make their way out of the cave.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 5: Shrine of the Ancient Dragon - Episode 4

The applicants make it out safely, but their relief is short-lived as the rampaging bone dragon soars out of the cave behind them. (Captain), having met up with Lancelot and Vane, takes on the dragon.

Skeleton Knight: Uooogh!
Mordred: Watch out, guys! Don't break formation!
Mordred: We'll make it out of this if we stick together!
Arthur: Mordred! They went that way!
Mordred: Gotcha!
Team Chickadee use the formation Vane taught them to employ during times of retreat.
Skeleton Knight: Uooogh...
Tornelio: Ack!
Tornelio: D-don't come any closer!
Skeleton Knight: Graargh...
Cruz impales the skeleton knight crawling up behind Tornelio.
Tornelio: Th-thank...
Cruz: We need to hurry...
Team Chickadee and the rest of the applicants make it out of the cave safely.
Arthur: Huff... Huff... Finally out...
Mordred: Whew... That was definitely a tough one.
Tornelio: Heave... Pant... Wheeze... I'm at my limit...
All breathe a sigh of relief at making a successful retreat.
Cruz: Something's coming...
Dust clouds accompany the rumbling in the ground as a rampaging dragon soars out of the cave.
???: Fshrooroo!
Lancelot: Retreat! Retreaaat!
Lancelot holds off the dragon, helping as many knights escape as possible.
???: Gwaargh!
Leader Knight: Ugh...
The dragon's twirling horns knock away the knights.
Vane: Whoa! You okay, buddy?
Leader Knight: Y-yes! Thank you!
Having been saved from a nasty fall by Vane, the knight collects himself.
Lancelot: Hear me out, everyone! We must surround the abomination and launch an all-out attack!
Lancelot: After Vane distracts it from the left flank, and (Captain) ambushes it from the right, the rest of us will close in with a pincer attack!
Vane: Gotcha, Lancey!
Vyrn: We're ready to do this!
Lancelot: I'll attack it head-on from the front!
Everyone fans out in accordance with Lancelot's instructions.
???: Fshrooroo...
Lancelot: Vane, (Captain), let's go for it!

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 6: Divergent Knighthoods - Episode 1

The dragon falls once from (Captain)'s attack but rises once again and goes after Henry directly, who stands all alone. Lancelot jumps in at the last moment, taking the brunt of the hit. As the fight continues, Arthur too takes up his sword, but Lancelot orders him to evacuate.

Bone Dragon: Fshoorooroo...
Smashing a part of the dragon's body causes it to lose balance and come tumbling to the ground.
Lancelot: That should do it!
Vane: If it ever gets back up, I'm gonna saw the thing apart and turn it into bone dust!
Vyrn: We're safe for now!
Lyria: Yeah! Now we just need to get out of here!
Having mustered a tremendous amount of strength on the assault just now, (Captain) is still gasping for breath.
Henry is spotted near the bone dragon. It appears he was watching the battle the entire time.
Henry: Ngh... Damn it. Why does this happen to me?
Arthur: Henry, behind you!
In the next moment, a black mist spews forth from the dragon's skull.
Lancelot: Wh-what the!
Bone Dragon: Fshoorooroo...
Henry: H-help...
The claws of the rampaging dragon come crashing down on the spot Henry is standing on.
Lancelot: Gwargh...
Jumping in to protect Henry at the last possible moment, Lancelot's armor is in tatters as his blood continues to drip, staining the ground a vivid red.
Vane: Lancey!
Lancelot: I'm okay... It's only a scratch.
Lancelot: More importantly... Are you hurt, Henry?
Henry: I-I'm fine! And I'm so sorry! This is all my fault!
The black mist continues to fill the surroundings, giving way to more skeleton knights crawling out of the ground as before.
Skeleton Knight: Uugh...
Lancelot: Wretched undead... We might've underestimated them.
Henry: I don't know what to say... If only I hadn't...
Vane: Relax... I'll give 'em as many poundings as it takes.
Lancelot: Getting everyone out of here comes first.
Lancelot: Vane, (Captain), can you buy some more time for the others to escape?
Vane: I could do this all day!
Vyrn: Yep! We've got this!
Lyria: I'll do my best too!
(Captain) nods with great purpose.
Arthur: We'll lend a hand too this time!
Lancelot: Arthur, I appreciate your willingness to help, but this is our job.
Lancelot: I have another job for you. Grab Henry and get out of here safely.
Arthur: But...
Vane: Arthur, listen to Lancey here and leave this one up to us, won't ya?
Mordred: Hey, Arthur! This way!
Tornelio: We should get going...
Cruz: Before we get surrounded...
Henry: We'd just get in the way if we stuck around anyway...
Mordred: Come on! We're getting out of here, Arthur!
Arthur: ...
Mordred takes Arthur by the arm and prepares to escape.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 6: Divergent Knighthoods - Episode 2

Readily complying with Lancelot's orders to escape at first, Arthur reminds himself and the others that to be a knight means to protect. Inspired by his words and charisma, the others in Team Chickadee, along with Henry, follow Arthur back into the fray.

While Lancelot and the others continue battling the bone dragon, Team Chickadee prepares to get away.
Arthur: No!
Arthur brushes off Mordred's arm.
Mordred: What is it, Arthur?
Arthur: I refuse to just run away like this.
Henry: Haven't you heard a word they were saying!
Henry: We're nothing more than a nuisance if we stay behind!
Arthur: That may very well be true, but I refuse to simply be protected every time something goes wrong.
Arthur: Are we not to become knights? Knights who pledge their lives in the service of others—knights who protect!
Tornelio: B-but we... What can we—
Arthur: That's what we need to plan out!
Arthur: Individually we may just be a hindrance, but there's gotta be something we can do if we work together!
Arthur is brimming with enthusiasm as he incites the others.
Arthur: Just turning tail and running...
Arthur: Every time the opponent seems too strong is not the kind of knight I wish to be!
Mordred: ...
Mordred: You have a point...
Mordred: Arthur's right. We might as well be the laughingstock of Feendrache if we split here.
Mordred: We should fight, Arthur.
Arthur: Hahah. I knew you'd come around, Mordred.
Cruz: Agreed...
Arthur: You sure about this?
Cruz: Running's not my thing...
Cruz: And there's something about the bone dragon that's been bothering me...
Arthur: Thank you, Cruz.
Henry: Whoa, whoa, whoa! What's with you fools! This is why you brats will always be brats!
Henry: You die here, and it's not a matter of becoming a knight or not anymore! You have your orders—how about you follow them?
Henry: Hey you, potato! You're getting outta here, right? Talk some sense into them, will ya?
Tornelio trembles as something stirs within him.
Tornelio: I... I'm ready to do what it takes when it matters!
Henry: You're kidding!
Arthur: You sure, Tornelio? No need to push yourself.
Tornelio: O-of course I'm pushing myself! I'm scared stiff really!
Henry: Then why—
Tornelio: I'm tired of running. Ever since meeting up with everyone, I've decided I need to change.
Tornelio: And that's why...
Tornelio: Ugh... Sniff... Eeaaagh! Waaaah...
Mordred: Geez... You sure picked a bad time to be bawling!
Arthur: Appreciate it, Tornelio.
Henry: Argh! Am I the only one who's sane here? You blustering braggarts!
Henry: Damn it, damn it, damn it! Fine, have it your way!
Henry: I-I'll chip in too! I'd never forgive myself if you're the only ones to be knighted for this stunt!
Arthur: Thank you too, Henry. Let's see what we can do together.
Mordred: Our first step should be to head back.
Arthur takes pause to reflect with his comrades on their best course of action.
Asking the others to look within themselves and ponder what it truly means to be a knight, he suggests they stay and help.
Emboldened by his courageous words, Team Chickadee makes its way back to Lancelot's group.

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 6: Divergent Knighthoods - Episode 3

Lancelot and Vane are surprised to see the team return but quickly accept their help upon seeing the commitment in their eyes. Arthur calmly observes the situation and discovers the bone dragon's weakness. He decides to target this weakness with the help of his comrades.

Bone Dragon: Fshoorooroo!
Skeleton Knight: Uugh...
Lancelot: Cripes! There's too many of them for us to get to the real target!
Lancelot: Vane, (Captain)! How are things on your end!
Vane: We're on the defense through and through!
Vyrn: We've got our hands full protecting the injured!
Lyria: What should we do, (Captain)...
Try as they might, the situation gets progressively worse.
Lancelot: Ngh... This is not good...
All of a sudden, the desperate situation is interrupted by a familiar voice.
Arthur: Captain Lancelot!
Lancelot: Arthur! And the rest of you! Why have you come back!
Vane: Whoa! This isn't very humerus, guys! You should've been out by now!
Mordred: Let's just say we have a few bones to pick.
Arthur: I know it's wrong to disobey orders...
Arthur: But ditching our comrades to save ourselves is even worse! And I refuse to do that!
Arthur: That's why...
All Five: We're going to fight with you!
Lancelot can't help but crack a smile at their pure, unwavering resolve.
Lancelot: Heh... Fair enough.
Lancelot: Now that you're here, I want you to give it your all!
Vane: All righty! Now it's Team Chickadee's turn to do the protecting!
All Five: Yessir!
Vyrn: Heheh! They're a feisty bunch!
Lyria: We need to do our part too!
Lancelot , Vane, and (Captain) take leave of Arthur's group and return to the fray.
Arthur and the others remain calm and observe the situation, trying to determine the best possible course of action.
Arthur: It's likely that things aren't going well because they aren't able to fight at full capacity.
Henry: I figured they were capable of more than this. Must've taken a toll on Captain Lancelot when he took that hit for me...
Arthur: Yeah. But that's not all.
Arthur: Because of so many injured knights around them, they can't go on the offensive entirely.
Mordred: True. Attacking while defending limits the strategies they can employ.
Arthur: Tornelio, Henry, can I entrust you two with emergency treatment and evacuation of the injured?
Tornelio: I-I wonder if I'll really be able to do this...
Henry: Let me in on the fighting!
Arthur: If I recall, you two scored pretty well on the first aid practicals.
Arthur: This is something only you two can do. Are you up to it?
Tornelio: In that case, I'll give it my best shot, Arthur!
Henry: Heh, I'd be the brat here if I refused...
Henry: I'll show you how it's done! You just watch, potato!
Arthur: Thank you, you two.
Arthur: Mordred, Cruz, have you noticed anything else?
Mordred: Those boneheads look to be a real pain. Things are only gonna get worse if they're not dealt with soon.
Cruz: It looks like they're controlled by the mist from the bone dragon...
Mordred: Yeah, sure seems that way. Considering that the mist came from the skull of the dragon...
Cruz: If we can crush the skull, the mist should be as good as gone...
Arthur: The two horns protruding from its head won't make it easy.
Cruz: That's for sure...
Arthur: I'll do it.
Mordred: Wha! You need to think this through!
Mordred: You miss, and you're as good as dead! We need to come up with a proper stra—
Cruz: There's too many skeleton knights around the dragon... It's reckless...
Arthur: I know. I'll probably die if I just charge straight in.
Mordred: If you know, then why are you—
Cruz: Do you have a death wish?
Arthur: Of course not! That's why I need both of your help to make sure that I come out of this alive!
Arthur: I'm the most agile of us three—meaning I have the greatest chance of getting in between its horns to land an attack.
Arthur: You two are better with a sword, so I'd like you to deal with the skeleton knights and clear a path for me.
Mordred: You've gotta be kidding... Also, maybe you should've said that first!
Cruz: You want to take out the bone dragon for good?
Arthur: I know my chances are low, but I'm willing to take them.
Mordred: Wouldn't we be better off just helping to incapacitate the boneheads?
Arthur: This is the only way for us to get out of this mess. The head has to be dealt with.
Arthur speaks to the others in a grave tone.
Arthur: It'll be fine. We can definitely pull this off.
Mordred: Sigh... Fine. I'm starting to think this might actually work.
Cruz: I'm not about to leave a friend for dead... Count me in...
Arthur: Thanks, you two!
Mordred: Friends? Did you just say friends?
Cruz: What about it?
Mordred: Nothing... It's just that's the first time I've heard you say it...
Cruz: Who cares... We need to get into position...
Mordred: Yeah, yeah. Let's do this.
Arthur: Put your hands over mine, guys!
Arthur: We'll make it out of this alive yet!
All Five: Hurrah!
A hearty team handstack bolsters the boys, compelling them into action.
Tornelio and Henry rush to the aid of the knights crouching in pain.
Tornelio: Are you okay? I'm here to provide first aid!
Injured Knight: Thank goodness... Cough...
Henry: Get a hold of yourself! Everything'll be okay now that we're here!
Injured Knight: I appreciate you coming for us... But you'd best get out of here before it's too late...
Tornelio: N-no! We're all gonna make it out of this together!
Henry: Here, lean on us...
Henry: Ready, Tornelio? One, two, now!
Tornelio: Rgh!
Injured Knight: Agh!
Injured Knight: Haha... You kids sure are dependable...
Meanwhile, Arthur, Mordred, and Cruz are smack-dab in the middle of a large group of skeleton knights.
Skeleton Knight: Uuuugh...
Arthur: Haagh!
Mordred: Eeyah!
Cruz: Rgh!
Skeleton Knight: Uuugh...
Arthur: There's too many of them! We can't get close...
Mordred: We're not gonna make any progress at this rate!
Cruz: Should we fall back and reconsider our strategy?
Mordred: What's the next move, Arthur?
Skeleton Knight: Uugh...
The skeleton knights who surrounded them begin to fall like dominoes.
Arthur: Could this be—
Tornelio: Arthur! The other knights are going to help us fight!
Henry: Heh... Like I'm gonna let you guys take all the credit!
Injured Knight: Haha... We couldn't leave this all to you boys!
Tornelio and Henry bring along a few recovered knights to join the fray.
Arthur: Thank you, everyone!
Mordred: Arthur! Here's our chance now that their numbers have dwindled!
Cruz: Go! Mordred and I will handle things here!
Tornelio: You can do it, Arthur!
Henry: You'd better not lose!
The others cheer Arthur on as he gets ready to challenge the bone dragon.
Arthur: I can feel their power...
Bone Dragon: Fshoorooroo...
Arthur: So you've been suffering this whole time...
Arthur: It's about time someone put you out of your misery...
Arthur: Here I go!
Arthur: Haaaagh!

Divergent Knighthoods - Chapter 6: Divergent Knighthoods - Episode 4

Arthur lands a clean strike on the bone dragon's skull—its weakness—but it is not enough to topple the creature. The dragon responds with a punishing counter, but Lancelot and Vane jump in to parry it. Now fully aware of this bony monstrosity's weakness, they finish it off once and for all with (Captain)'s help.

Arthur: Yaaargh!
Bone Dragon: Fshaaa!
Arthur finds a brief opening and plants his sword deep into the dragon's skull.
Mordred: How about that!
Although he does not manage to crack its skull, the attack is enough to send a fissure running through it.
Arthur: Damn! Almost!
As black mist begins to leak from the fissure, the bone dragon quivers in excruciating pain.
Arthur: ...!
It worked... The mist is getting weaker...
Bone Dragon: Fshoorooroo!
Arthur: Uh-oh!
The two horns protruding from the dragon's head twirl about like whips hungry for something to latch onto.
Lancelot: Haaagh!
Vane: Graargh!
Lancelot and Vane repel the horns before they connect, with (Captain) pulling Arthur out of the situation.
Vyrn: That was close!
Lyria: Whew... I'm just glad we made it on time!
Arthur: I'm... still alive...
  1. Good work.
  2. You're not hurt, are you?

Choose: Good work.
Arthur: Th-thanks! I did my best!

Choose: You're not hurt, are you?
Arthur: N-no! I'm all good!

Lancelot: Heh. You guys really pulled out the stops.
Vane: Way to go, guys!
Arthur: Um, there's something I need to tell you!
Based on the black mist leaking from the fissure, Arthur confirms his suspicions about the bone dragon's weakness and relays it to the others.
Mordred: Captain Lancelot! The dragon's skull is its weakness!
Cruz: Smash it, and the black mist will be no more!
Lancelot: Yes... I'm aware.
Vane: Heheh, you guys did fantastic out there!
Lancelot: We'll take it from here...
Vane: Mm-hm! We'll pay back the favor a hundred times over!
Lancelot, Vane, and (Captain) face the bone dragon once more.
Lancelot: One last time...
Lancelot: Vane, (Captain)! To the safety of the children, and to our victory!

Divergent Knighthoods - Ending

Arthur, Mordred, Tornelio, Cruz, and Henry all pass the exam. Arthur and Mordred look on as Lancelot walks away, each hopeful to become knight captain one day, but the futures that they envision slightly differ from one another. Meanwhile Lancelot and Vane return to the mountains to investigate a mysterious magic symbol, a portent of ominous things to come.

Bone Dragon: Fshaaaa!
Lancelot: Haaagh!
Vane: Aaargh!
(Captain) fights alongside the knightly duo, each relentlessly attacking the bone dragon's skull in rapid succession.
Bone Dragon: ...
With its skull turned into ashes, the rest of the dragon's body soon follows suit.
Arthur: Finally... You'll be able to rest again.
The skeleton knights that filled the room are no more, replaced by a calm tranquility.
Everyone gathers around Arthur, breaking the tension in the air.
Tornelio: Arthur! You're not hurt, are you?
Arthur: Nope! I'm as fine as can be!
Cruz: It's over...
Cruz breathes a sigh of relief, content to know that the bony threat has at last come to an end.
Mordred: Yeah... We managed somehow.
Henry: Humph... You got through this only because of our help. You'd better be thankful.
Mordred: Yeah, yeah, we get it. Pssh, insufferable snob...
Henry: I'm being a snob for stating the truth?
Mordred: Thank you, thank you, thank you. There, happy?
Lancelot, Vane, and (Captain) come by while the applicants are chatting amongst themselves.
Lancelot: You did great back there.
Vane: Totally! Couldn't have done it without you guys!
  1. Nice job.
  2. You were pretty awesome.

Choose: Nice job.
Mordred: The real honor goes to you, (Captain).
Arthur: But you three are the real stars!

Choose: You were pretty awesome.
Arthur: Awesome? Me?
Arthur: Th-thank you so much!
Arthur: But you three are the real stars!

Mordred: Yeah! You're in a different league from the rest of us!
Lancelot: Heh... I'm sure hard work will get you to where we are right now.
Vane: No doubt about that! If I was able to make it, then so can you!
Vyrn: Heheh! Let's not forget you guys kicked plenty of butt back there too!
Lyria: There's so much we can accomplish when everyone works together!
Arthur: That's the power of teamwork!
Mordred: Yeah... If any of us fought alone and got surrounded, that would've been the end of it.
Arthur: I just remembered I still have to apologize for disobeying orders...
Lancelot: Indeed you did, but you protected that which is most important to a knight. As such, I'm willing to overlook this incident.
Lancelot: What matters is that we're all okay now.
Vane: You have no idea how moved I was when you guys came back!
Vane: Never forget this part of you.
Arthur: I... won't...
Mordred: Hey Arthur! Are you okay?
Lancelot: I'm sure he's fine. Probably just feeling drowsy.
Arthur: Zzz... Zzz...
Vane: Looks like I'm gonna have to play Daddy Vane and let him sleep on my back.
Lancelot: It's time to descend the mountain, everyone!
The mountain-climbing ordeal at last comes to a close.
Days later...
The applicants are lined up in the throne room, anxious to hear the results of the test.
Arthur: Mmng... Yawn...
Mordred: Seriously? Catching up on z's at a time like this? I'm almost jealous.
Arthur: Hm? I'm... wide... awake...
Mordred: Sigh... Looks like you need another helping of my minty leaf!
Arthur: Aah! Whooo... Yep, I'm awake as can be!
Tornelio: Ngh... I-I think I'm getting a tummy ache...
Cruz: No point getting nervous here. The results are already in one way or another...
Tornelio: Y-yeah, good point! No sense in fretting over what's already decided!
Henry: Put a sock in it, you brats! His Majesty is here!
King Carl graces the throne room with his presence.
Lyria: Aye yai yai, even I'm getting cold feet...
Vyrn: Hey, no reason for us to be breaking out in a cold sweat.
(Captain) and the others watch the proceedings with feverish anticipation.
King Carl: I commend you all for making it through the lengthy entrance examination.
King Carl: That alone is a remarkable accomplishment and is something you should always be proud of.
Lancelot: Your Majesty... This is the list.
King Carl: I shall now announce the names of those who've passed the entrance exam of the Order of the White Dragons.
King Carl: Please respond loud and clear when I call your name.
King Carl: Well then, without further ado...
As the names of the successful applicants are called upon, the anticipation felt by Team Chickadee quickly builds up.
King Carl: Arthur.
Arthur: ...!
Yes!
King Carl: Mordred.
Mordred: Yes!
King Carl: Tornelio.
Tornelio: Y-yes!
King Carl: Cruz.
Cruz: Yes.
King Carl: Henry.
Henry: Yes!
King Carl: I congratulate all twenty-four of you and welcome you as the newest inductees into the Order of the White Dragons.
Excitement builds to a fever pitch as rousing cheers fill the air.
Vane: Woo! Congrats to you boys!
Vane: I'm almost in tears just knowing that everyone in Team Chickadee passed!
Vane: Sniff... This is my happiest moment as your team leader!
Arthur: Sob... S-Sir Vane! Th-th-thank youuu, waaah!
Mordred: Hahaha! You need to lay it off with those tears, Arthur.
Tornelio: I didn't think I'd pass... I almost... can't believe it...
Cruz: Of course you passed. You put everything you had into it.
Tornelio: Th-thanks!
The members of Team Chickadee exchange bro hugs, congratulating each other on a job well done.
Vane: I suppose this is where we stop saying Team Chickadee and congratulate you all on making it into Team Falcon!
Arthur: Does that mean we get to lay eggs now?
Vane: Ooh yeah! You bet your chickadees you can!
Just then Henry calls out to Arthur and Mordred.
Arthur: Congrats to you too, Henry!
Henry: Mm-hm... I'm glad it panned out.
Mordred: What is it this time? You here to razz us again, you pompous pea-brain!
Henry: Tch... No!
Henry: I just... wanted to apologize for all the crap I've been giving you...
Henry: I'll admit I was a bit of a prick... I hope we can let bygones be bygones...
Arthur: Oh, it's all good. Thanks for going out of your way to come apologize!
Mordred: Yeah... Water under the bridge now.
Henry: Hah... Hahahaha! But I am willing to officially acknowledge you as my rivals though!
Mordred: Tsk, you haven't learned anything, have you?
Arthur: Ooh! Rivals, eh?
Henry: That's right! I'll become captain of the order before you two!
Mordred: Hah... You've got your work cut out for you, pal!
Arthur: Let's all become knight captains together!
Mordred: I'm pretty sure the kingdom only needs one...
Henry: Heh... I'd expect no less from my rivals!
Henry: That gumption you show is exactly what I like to see in my competition!
Arthur: Henry, something's changed about you!
Mordred: Don't tell us you have no friends?
Henry: N-no, that's not it! So long, my formidable rivals!
Lancelot and Vane appear before the crew.
Lancelot: Apologies for all the trouble we caused you.
Vyrn: Nah, it's cool! We're just glad you ended up with so many hopeful knights to help shape the future of Feendrache!
Vane: We seriously owe you one, (Captain)! Can't thank you enough for all the help you've given us!
Lyria: Haha... It was fun cheering them on and seeing them pass in the end!
Surrounded by such joyous cheer all around, (Captain) too breaks into a smile.
Lancelot shifts to a more formal tone as he calls out to Arthur and Mordred.
Lancelot: Congratulations on passing, you two.
Arthur & Mordred: Thank you!
Lancelot: You're the talk among all the other applicants.
Lancelot: It seems they've already placed their trust in you.
Lancelot: You stood up to protect everyone and embody the very chivalry that is the hallmark of any good knight.
Lancelot: I hope you'll continue to embody these virtues and aspire to become captain one day.
Arthur & Mordred: Yessir!
The two watch in awe as Lancelot goes off to continue making the rounds.
Arthur: I want to be just like him someday!
Mordred: Took the right words right out of my mouth.
Arthur: (I have to become a captain strong enough to protect everyone.)
Arthur: (Strong enough that everyone can live in peace, full of smiles...)
Mordred: (I'll become a captain stronger than anyone else. I swear it.)
Mordred: (And then I'll change this world for the better, so that no child will ever have to be orphaned from war again...)
Arthur: Mordred! It's a race to see who becomes captain first!
Mordred: Heh... I'm already way ahead of you, Arthur!
Their hearts pounding with excitement, the successful applicants get ready to embark on the next stage in their life as successful knights-in-training.
The bonds forged in this endeavor will no doubt become the driving force that helps Feendrache overcome whatever trials or tribulations await in its future.
Days later Lancelot and Vane pay another visit to the shrine of the ancient dragon.
They leave no stone unturned as they comb every inch of the area around the collapsed monument.
Lancelot: Hm? Vane, over here. What do you make of this magic circle?
Vane: Lancey, Lancey! That same circle's on the rock wall right here!
Lancelot: I've never seen anything like it... Who could be responsible...
Vane: So this here's the whole reason Bony Bones acted up...
Lancelot: I can't be certain, but we should go back and report it.
Vane: Yeah... I don't like the looks of this, but I guess that's all we can do for now.
Lancelot: (I do not know what sort of heathen would plot such a thing, but it's obvious they meant to cause harm...)
Lancelot: (Perhaps the rot that festers in this kingdom hasn't been entirely rooted out yet...)
As the youngsters take one step closer to becoming the beacon of hope for the future, an ominous presence lurking in the shadows seeks to corrupt all.
But even if the world is to be submerged in darkness, perhaps the light in their hearts will shine forth as a guidepost for all to follow and rise up as saviors.
But until that time, none but fate itself can say for sure what will come to pass...
The End
