A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Opening

Arrogante, the Eligoth Knights' boss, praises Elea for bringing in the Zerion Knights' boss before slaughtering him. He then orders Elea to go kill Yuisis and (Captain) for the sake of vengeance, lending her his Vasuria sword to accomplish the task.

A man sits at a desk stationed in the center of a garishly decorated office. He is receiving a report from one of his subordinates.
Eligoth Knight 1: And that's everything we heard from the Zerion Knights guys.
???: I see... Actually had the guts to raid the Zerion Knights' headquarters, eh?
???: Can't put it past that Yuisis. Sounds like the boss of her new family is something else too.
???: My time to shine is approaching fast—I'm gonna get what I've been striving for all this time.
???: (Though I'm not sure why the Ditoria hasn't awakened yet...)
???: ...
The sound of a knock fills the brooding silence.
???: Come in. Door's open.
Elea: Scuse me, Boss. I've brought you the Zerion head, as requested.
Elea drags the restrained Zerion boss before Arrogante.
Zerion Boss: Eh? A-Arrogante... Boss?
Arrogante: ...
Zerion Boss: I-I really messed up. I didn't mean to go makin' you look like a fool...
Zerion Boss: I'll even double the funds, so please, give me one more chance!
Zerion Boss: The Zerion Knights and the Eligoth Knights... You and me, Boss... We've got so much history, yeah?
Arrogante: Good work, Elea. I appreciate those who can carry out orders.
Elea: Just doing what is expected of me. I'll be giving this back to you too.
Arrogante: Yes, of course. And now, to take out the trash.
Zerion Boss: Huh?
Arrogante: Useless...
Arrogante: The only reason I took you under my wing was to make you more manageable as a pawn.
Arrogante: History? More chances?
Arrogante: Don't make me laugh!
The frenzied Arrogante gives the corpse of the Zerion boss a forceful kick.
Arrogante: And on top of all that, to think that you had the gall to go around doing whatever in my name...
Arrogante: You've got a whole lotta nerve! Hey, you listening? Eh!
Arrogante: You. Dispose of this trash. Then I want you to give the same treatment to the rest of the filthy stragglers and everyone affiliated with 'em.
Eligoth Knight 1: Yes, Boss.
Arrogante: Well now, I feel much better after clearing out that stink. I have a new job for you, Elea.
Elea: ...
Arrogante: I want you to bust up that crew that Yuisis has allied herself up with. You're going to off both their boss and Yuisis.
Elea: ...!
Arrogante: I thought we could do this without dirtying our own hands, but everyone we've employed thus far has been utterly useless.
Arrogante: Of course, I will have you bring the Ditoria to me as well.
Elea: ...
Arrogante: Looks like you've got something to say.
Elea: To be honest, that's asking... quite a lot. That captain is no pushover.
Elea: And with Yuisis there to lend her strength as well...
Arrogante: Take Vasuria with you once more. And however many helping hands you think you'll need.
Elea: ...
Arrogante: Well, if you feel like refusin' me this, I won't especially mind. It's just a request after all.
Arrogante: I can't say for sure how this might affect your future with the organization, however.
Elea: I'll do it.
Arrogante: Hehe, you have my thanks. Now here. Take this.
Arrogante passes the Vasuria to Elea with a wry smile.
Elea: I'll be taking my leave to prepare now.
Arrogante: Yes, and I am looking forward to your success.
After Elea shuts the door behind her, Arrogante's smile contorts into a twisted smirk.
Arrogante: Oh, I shiver in anticipation at what could happen! If Yuisis can finally awaken the true power of the Ditoria...
Arrogante: Without that, this whole thing will have been for naught.
Arrogante: Wendt and Treia... Oh how long I have waited for this chance at revenge!
Arrogante utters their names with contempt—he possesses a hatred in his heart that has dwindled none with time.
A hatred that has shifted toward the daughter of his former nemeses, Yuisis.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 1: Family Reunion - Episode 1

Being bested by Elea in combat taught Yuisis that she must get stronger to stand a chance against Arrogante, which is why she's training so hard. When a letter from her cousin Elsine arrives, Yuisis is overjoyed to learn that she's alive and goes with the crew to meet her.

On a fine and early afternoon.
Yuisis engages in a mock battle with (Captain) on the deck of the Grandcypher.
Yuisis: Ack!
The force from one of (Captain)'s attacks sends Yuisis's weapon, the Ditoria, flying out of her hands.
Yuisis: Looks like... I've lost.
Any version of Yuisis (Fire) is a crew member

Yuisis strives to revive her former family, the Ditoria Knights, after it was fractured and broken by treachery from within.
She looks up to (Captain) as the ideal form of the boss that she one day aspires to be.
She has joined (Captain)'s crew so that she may continue to learn everything she can about leadership.

Yuisis: Sorry to ask ya, (Captain), but please spar with me one more time—
Before she can finish making her plea, her exhausted body collapses to the floor.
(Captain) rushes over to help.
Vyrn: H-hey! You all right, Crazy Girl?
Yuisis: Y-yeah... Just a little dizzy, that's all...
  1. Let's take a break.

Choose: Let's take a break.
Yuisis: Yes... Let's...
(Captain) has Yuisis sit down in the shade.
Yuisis: Sorry for the trouble, (Captain). And after having you spar with me to boot...
(Captain) smiles with a shake of the head, as if to say that everything is all right.
Vyrn: Say, Crazy Girl. Don'tcha think you've been pushin' yourself a little too hard with all the training you've been doing?
Vyrn: I even saw you swinging around that sword way late the other night.
Yuisis: ...
  1. If something's happened, I'm all ears.

Choose: If something's happened, I'm all ears.
Yuisis: Thanks... Well I guess I can lay it all out.
Yuisis begins to tell them what has been on her mind.
Yuisis: Remember when we fought Elea that one time?

During their time as members of the Ditoria Knights, Yuisis looked up to Elea as an older sister.
Yuisis was unaware of Elea's whereabouts ever since her parents' funeral. She would finally be reunited with the woman, but not as a friend.
Elea had joined forces with Arrogante, the man responsible for the Ditoria Knights' demise.
Shocked and furious at Elea's betrayal, Yuisis crossed blades with the one whom she once considered an older sister.
Beating her would be the only way to learn why she had allied herself with the man who had destroyed their former family.
Yuisis, however, was no match for Elea, who would back off just before dealing the final blow.
Yuisis cried out in protest, but her pleas would fall on deaf ears.
Continue 2
Yuisis: Elea said it herself—that I'd have to beat her if I wanted to find out her true intentions...
Yuisis: That alone will take everything I've got, but to then convince her to come back over to my side? I've got a long way to go.
Yuisis: I was really unprepared back there...
Yuisis: The gap in power between us won't be easily bridged.
Yuisis: So ever since then, I've known that I need to step it up.
Yuisis: And what kind of boss is so powerless that she can't even get a rival to cough up some info?
Yuisis: If I don't do something, then my dream of reviving the family and avenging my parents will remain just that... A dream...
Yuisis: So here I am, doing what I feel I need to do...
Vyrn: Gotcha... But you're runnin' yourself ragged out here...
Vyrn: If you end up hurting yourself real bad, then what're you gonna do?
Yuisis: Yeah... I guess you're right... But still!
  1. Don't worry. Have more faith in your ability.

Choose: Don't worry. Have more faith in your ability.
Yuisis: (Captain)...
Vyrn: (Captain)'s right! And we're right here with ya, so I'm sure things'll work out!
Yuisis: ...
Yuisis: Sigh...
How do you both do it?
Yuisis: Hearin' that from you, my precious family... Really serves to put my mind at ease.
The expression on Yuisis's face changes from that of anxiety to that of inner calm. The girl smiles gently.
(Captain) and Vyrn are also glad to see their companion relax a bit.
Lyria: Oh, Yuisis! So you were out here all along!
Yuisis: Lyria? What's up?
Lyria: Well, I've got a letter for you from someone named Elsine.
Yuisis's hands tremble as she immediately opens the letter and pores over its contents.
Yuisis: Oh, El! I'm glad she's okay...
Tears well up in her eyes.
Lyria: What's wrong... Yuisis?
Yuisis: Ah, sorry 'bout that. This letter here's from my cousin, El. I'm just glad she's okay.
Yuisis: We became separated after Arrogante's rebellion.
Yuisis: I heard nothing about her whereabouts, and I was having no luck contacting her myself. I really thought that she had bitten the dust.
Yuisis: I mean... That wouldn't be too hard to imagine given what went down...
Vyrn: Crazy Girl... Sounds like it was really rough, huh?
Yuisis: Yes. I remember it vividly too. Arrogante... He...
Yuisis gazes off into the distance as she recalls the horrible event.
Yuisis: Arrogante's goons surrounded our house and set it on fire...
Yuisis: I can still hear the desperate cries... I can still see the bodies...
Yuisis: For a time, I would consult with El and her family to see what we could do in the aftermath.
Yuisis: But I wouldn't be able to find her soon after that...
Lyria: Oh, I'm sorry... For making you recall something so painful.
Yuisis: Don't worry about that one bit. It's just that in that situation, it was easy to assume she was dead.
Lyria: But it looks like Elsine is alive after all.
Yuisis: Yep, and I'm super relieved.
Yuisis: (Captain), it looks like El wants to meet up with me again.
Yuisis: So um, would you all consider coming along?
Vyrn: Hm, us too?
Yuisis: Yes. It looks like they heard that I've broken bread with you all, so they insist.
Yuisis: Consider it a formality.
  1. All right, we'll tag along too.

Choose: All right, we'll tag along too.
Lyria: If they're your family, they're our family too!
Vyrn: Yeah, and I can tell that this'll do you a whole lotta good, Crazy Girl.
Yuisis: Thank you. (Captain).
A joyful smile graces the girl's face at (Captain)'s agreement to accompany her.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 1: Family Reunion - Episode 2

The crew enjoys a meal with Elsine and her attendant, Icas. Elsine reveals that she currently leads the Luceria Knights, a gang opposed to Arrogante's Eligoth Knights.

Yuisis is relieved to receive a letter from her cousin Elsine, whom she had long assumed to be dead.
(Captain) and the crew accompany the girl as she seeks to reunite with her relative.
Yuisis: Now to find El's house...
???: Yuisis!
Yuisis: El?
Yuisis turns toward the direction of the voice. The very next moment, a girl springs forth to embrace her.
Elsine: Yuisis! Is it really you, Yuisis?
Yuisis: Sure is. It's been ages, El.
Elsine: I'm so glad... you're still alive...
Yuisis: Same here, El. I was worried sick.
Tears begin to fall from Yuisis's eyes as she grips Elsine even tighter.
???: I understand how you must feel, El, but we've got business to discuss. Why don't we move this inside...
???: Look, Lady Yuisis's companions can only stand by awkwardly.
???: And above all else, we can't be sure who may have their eyes and ears on us here in the middle of the street.
Elsine: ...!
Y-yeah...
Elsine tears herself away from Yuisis after listening to the man's reasoning.
Yuisis: I'm surprised you were aware that we'd arrived.
???: Well, it's not so much that we were made aware or even found out through some extraordinary means, and more that we've simply been watching and waiting.
???: We're grateful that you let us know your approximate time of landfall on the island.
???: Plus, El here insisted we keep our eyes up at all times. Took off running when—
Elsine: Icas!
Icas: Just stating the facts. It was kind of a pain, to be honest.
Elsine: Urgh...
Icas: Again, I understand your anticipation and how much you were lookin' forward to being reunited, but you can't just go gallivanting off and leaving your bodyguards behind.
Icas: The town may seem safe enough, but we can't be so sure.
Elsine: I-I get it. I'll be more careful next time.
Icas: Will you though?
Lyria: U-um...
Elsine: Oh! I'm sorry you had to see us fight like this.
Elsine turns toward (Captain) and the crew and offers a polite bow.
Elsine: Thank you all for making the trip to the island. My name is Elsine.
Elsine: I'm Yuisis's cousin and an ex-member of the Ditoria Knights. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better.
Elsine: This is Icas.
Icas: Pleased to meet you. I suppose you could say I'm a sort of adopted brother to El. I also serve as her secretary and bodyguard.
Lyria: Oh, um, pleased to meet you too!
The crew members each take a moment to introduce themselves in turn.
Gran is the Main Character

Elsine: Yuisis, I've heard that you've broken bread with him. Is that true?
Djeeta is the Main Character

Elsine: Yuisis, I've heard that you've broken bread with her. Is that true?
Yuisis: Yep, it's the honest-to-goodness truth. (Captain)'s become family.
Elsine: I see... So that means...
Elsine takes a moment to scan (Captain) from head to toe.
Vyrn: What's the matter? Why're you looking at (Captain) like that?
Elsine: Pardon the stares, but I needed to see for myself just what kind of person Yuisis would place her faith in as a boss.
Elsine: So yes, why don't we take this inside?
(Captain) nods at the suggestion, and the group follows behind Elsine.
Elsine leads the crew to a certain restaurant.
Lyria: ...
Vyrn: ...
Yuisis: What's wrong, Vyrn? You're makin' a real funny face there...
Vyrn: Well, I mean... It's this place. It's as ritzy as all get-out!
Vyrn: This something you're just used to, Crazy Girl?
Yuisis: Yeah, I guess you could actually say that. Back when the Ditoria Knights were around, I was taken to these kinds of places all the time.
Yuisis: I feel right at home here!
Elsine: Hehe, do try to relax a bit.
Elsine: This is one of my family's own properties.
Elsine: No need for any of that stiff decorum here.
Elsine urges her guests to relax with a gentle smile.
Yuisis: You said something about your family? What're you talkin' about, El?
Elsine: Right, I suppose I never did tell you, Yuisis.
Elsine: I'm a Luceria Knight now... The very ones who betrayed the Ditoria family and cozied up to Arrogante's organization.
Elsine: I serve the role of boss, actually.
Yuisis: ...!
Yuisis and (Captain) grow apprehensive at Elsine's admission.
Vyrn: W-wait, by Arrogante... You don't mean Crazy Girl's—
Yuisis: Huh? El, don't tell me... You...
Elsine: Don't worry, that's all in the past now.
Elsine: As it stands, the Luceria Knights stand firmly against Arrogante's family.
Yuisis: What do you mean?
Elsine: After his rebellion, Arrogante went on to form the Eligoth Knights.
Elsine: The Luceria Knights were established under their umbrella.
Elsine: The Luceria Knights were never meant to be recognized as a proper family, though. It was obvious that bastard only thought of them as simple pawns to be cast aside.
Elsine: I took matters into my own hands and went after the first boss of the group, my very own father. I've been in charge ever since.
Elsine: First order of business was cleanin' up any traitors who had the guts to stick around, and then I went and broke off from Eligoth.
Elsine: That's where we stand now, so please don't go drawin' your swords or anything.
Vyrn: So that means we're safe... right?
Yuisis: Yeah... Most likely, at least.
Lyria: T-talk about a shock!
Elsine: Hehe, I apologize for all of the heart attacks I've been givin' you all. Let's eat something, shall we?
Elsine smiles at the group once more before calling over one of the waitstaff.
And more than anyone else seated at the table, Yuisis is able to breathe a sigh of relief.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 1: Family Reunion - Episode 3

Elsine confesses that it was her fault the Ditoria Knights collapsed in the first place. On the day of Arrogante's revolt, Yuisis's parents gave their lives to make sure Elsine would survive an attack on her. Yuisis is shocked to learn about this.

(Captain) and the crew share a meal with Elsine, the boss of the Luceria Knights, at an upscale restaurant managed by the family.
Yuisis and Elsine take the opportunity to catch up and reminisce.
Yuisis: I was really worried sick, you know. How did you manage to survive after everything that went down?
Yuisis: I guess you had no choice but to follow your parents even though they betrayed the family, huh...
Elsine: Well...
Yuisis: Sorry. I won't push you if you don't want to talk about it.
Yuisis: I can tell just by lookin' at your face just now that a lot must have happened.
Yuisis: I'm content with havin' you by my side once more.
Elsine: Yuisis...
Elsine: ...
Icas: El. If it's too much for you at the moment, then allow me—
Elsine: No need. I'll tell the story. It's the least I can do for all the chaos I was involved in causing.
A serious look on her face, Elsine bows deeply to Yuisis.
Yuisis: El? What's gotten into you?
Elsine: Yuisis, I have something I need to tell you.
Elsine: The reason your parents died... No, the reason that the entirety of the Ditoria Knights' collapse... It was all my fault.
Yuisis: Wha... What do you mean by that?
Elsine: I feel I must explain what happened at that time in detail. But first...
Elsine: What about all of you? If you don't want to hear the story, I don't mind if you—
  1. We'll listen.

Choose: We'll listen.
Lyria: Yuisis is family. We'd like to hear about what happened together with her.
Elsine: As you wish.
Elsine begins to recall the moments leading up to the death of Yuisis's parents. A bitter look clouds her visage.
Elsine: When Arrogante attacked, you and I split up and went to our respective parents.
Elsine: We were desperate to find a way to overcome what was happening...
Yuisis: Yes, I remember our distress clearly.
Elsine: I started telling my parents everything in great detail.
Elsine: I pleaded with them to help me protect you, the boss, and Treia—to help keep the family together.
Elsine: They stopped me from going, though. They confided in me and told me the shocking truth...
Elsine: They already knew about the rebellion... Because they were part of it.
Elsine: My own parents and many of the other family heads... They were planning to flip over to Arrogante's side...
Yuisis: ...
Lyria: That's... But everyone was part of the same family, right? So why...
Elsine: Truth is, not everybody values the family structure in the same way.
Vyrn: Say it ain't so...
Elsine: I mean, even I couldn't forgive my own parents after that.
Elsine: I would end up blowin' them off and focusing all of my strength and attention on protecting Yuisis and the bosses.
Elsine: I only wanted to protect you all, and yet...
Elsine: We were surrounded by a group of Arrogante's men...
Elsine: I honestly thought that I wasn't going to make it out of there alive... But Wendt and Treia... They took it upon themselves to protect me...
Elsine: They were mortally wounded in the process.
Yuisis: ...!
Elsine: I was shaken and confused... I was petrified in the moment and didn't know what to do until they told me to run.
Elsine: Wounded as they were, they still managed to beat back the onslaught and make their way to Arrogante's position...
Yuisis: No... It can't be... Then you mean to tell me that what I saw then was their final moments...
Elsine: What? You saw them together?
Yuisis: Y-yes, as I was making my own escape...
Elsine: I see...
Yuisis: ...
Elsine: I heeded their words and made a run for it.
Elsine: My parents would end up safeguarding me, and I had little choice but to become one of Arrogante's lackeys for a time.
Yuisis: ...
Yuisis is taken aback by what Elsine has told her.
The room is overtaken by a melancholic silence.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 1: Family Reunion - Episode 4

Ready and willing to repent for past events, Elsine hands Yuisis a dagger. Yuisis, however, takes a more peaceful approach by telling her to make up for the past by living on. Elsine then vows to rebuild the Ditoria Knights alongside Yuisis.

An uncomfortable silence lingers in the air as Elsine concludes her recount of what transpired that day.
Yuisis stares at her cousin, stunned.
Elsine: If I hadn't acted out on my own, Arrogante's rebellion likely wouldn't have succeeded...
Elsine: There's no way that the boss and Treia would have lost to that bastard under normal circumstances...
Elsine: It was all my doing... If they weren't distracted by my foolishness...
Twinges of bitterness and regret carried in the heart...
Having bared it all, Elsine takes a dagger from her pocket and hands it to Yuisis.
Icas: El!
Elsine: This is my way of atoning. I won't have you interfering.
Icas: ...!
Yuisis: Wh-what is this?
Elsine: I never forgave 'em... My parents, and those cowardly executives...
Elsine: And myself, who sent the boss and Treia to their demise...
Elsine: I staged a rebellion of my own—took control of the Luceria Knights with an express purpose in mind.
Elsine: I had everyone who betrayed the Ditoria family at that time atone for their sin.
Elsine: All that's left now is me...
Elsine: Thing is, I couldn't very well throw away the very thing that the bosses died to protect.
Elsine: It isn't my place to be doing the deed.
Elsine: I would just be rendering their sacrifice in vain.
Elsine: So that's why, Yuisis...
Elsine: I would have you do the deed, as the boss and Treia's daughter.
Yuisis: ...
Yuisis stares at the dagger for but a moment before shaking her head and handing it back to Elsine.
Elsine: But why?
Yuisis: The only ones to blame here are Arrogante and his band of traitors. Not you.
Elsine: But it's all my fault! If only I wasn't there to get in the way—
Elsine: ...
Yuisis: Thank you, El. For going against your own parents for our sakes.
Yuisis: Just knowing that even in their final moments...
Yuisis: They were doin' everything they could to preserve the family...
Yuisis: Just knowing all of that is enough, so don't go blaming yourself and throwin'—
Elsine: The hell are you goin' on about? Your parents... The Ditoria Knights! If it weren't for me...
Elsine: You know I've got no choice but to atone!
Elsine: With my honor as a gangster intact... So please!
Yuisis: ...
Elsine: I'll never be able to forgive myself if you don't do this...
Elsine: Please...
Yuisis: All right, understood. I'll settle this.
Icas: Lady Yuisis, wait—
Yuisis: El, you're going to go on living.
Elsine: What! You would have me live with that shame?
Yuisis: Yes. That's exactly how I'll have you atone.
Yuisis: It's what Mom and Dad would have wanted.
Elsine: ...!
Elsine: I-I see... Fine. If that is what you would have me do.
Icas: You have my thanks, Lady Yuisis. For your merciful treatment of El.
Elsine and Icas bow deeply to Yuisis.
Lyria: Ah... Well I'm glad that was settled peacefully.
Vyrn: You got that right. I thought Crazy Girl was gonna do something crazy there...
Yuisis: In our world, it's true that one's got to pay the price to make amends.
Yuisis: There's ways of doing that without throwing your life away, though.
Yuisis: That's something I came to realize after spending time in (Captain)'s crew.
Vyrn: Hehe, looks like even Crazy Girl's come to see things our way.
Yuisis: Yeah, you could say that. Makes me happy to hear you acknowledge it.
Elsine: ...
Yuisis: What's with the face, El?
Elsine: Nothing. It's nothing.
Elsine: Though I must know, Yuisis. What is it that you plan to do now?
Yuisis: What I'm gonna do now, huh?
Elsine: You said I need to live on, right?
Elsine: If I'm going to do that, then I'm gonna spend my time fulfillin' my dream of rebuilding the Ditoria Knights.
Elsine: I can't think of a better way to further atone for my sins.
Elsine shifts her gaze toward the sword hanging at Yuisis's waist.
Elsine: That sword... That's the Ditoria, right?
Elsine: Whoever holds that blade is the de facto boss of the Ditoria Knights. As long as it exists, I know that the family can be rebuilt.
Elsine: So tell me, Yuisis. Do you also intend to rebuild the Ditoria Knights?
Yuisis: Yeah, you bet I do.
Yuisis: That's why I decided to join up with (Captain) in the first place—all so I could learn how to be the best boss I can possibly be.
Elsine: I'm relieved to hear you say that.
Elsine bows to Yuisis once more.
Elsine: Let me proclaim something now, as the head of the Luceria Knights.
Elsine: From this moment on, on my name do I swear our fealty to you.
Elsine: We will be doing whatever it takes to see your ambitions met.
Elsine: Even if that means payin' with our very lives.
Elsine: We'll see to it that the Ditoria Knights are revived to their former glory.
Yuisis: Thank you, El. Having you and the family's strength at my back is a tremendous boon, I'm sure.
Yuisis smiles gently at the girl.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 2: Means and Ends - Episode 1

On the way to Elsine's estate, a group of armed men target Yuisis and (Captain). Elsine orders Icas and other Luceria Knights to handle the disturbance, then moves on as if nothing had happened.

After finishing their meal, the newly united group takes their leave of the restaurant.
The crew is invited to take up lodging for the night in Elsine's home.
Vyrn: Doesn't seem like many folks come to this part of town.
Elsine: It only seems that way because it's late. These streets are normally much more lively.
The crew follows Elsine through the dark city streets.
Two men emerge from the darkness and rush toward them.
Man 1: Your life is mine!
Man 2: Die!
Gran is the Main Character

The men produce shivs from their pockets and fly toward both Yuisis and (Captain).
Djeeta is the Main Character

The men produce shivs from their pockets and fly toward both Yuisis and (Captain).
Icas: ...!
Icas is quicker on the draw, however, and handily beats down the two thugs.
Elsine: Thank you, Icas.
Icas: Think nothing of it. Just doing my job.
Icas proceeds to bind the two men with rope.
Vyrn & Lyria: ...
Icas: What's wrong? Did I do something to offend?
Vyrn: No, I'm just amazed at how quickly you took those guys down. You're pretty strong, Dreamboat Guy.
Icas: Ha... Ahaha... Dreamboat? First time anyone's ever described me like that...
Elsine: Tee-hee, makes sense though, considering back then... Hehe!
Yuisis: Oh, that's right! Hehe...
Lyria: Yuisis? Elsine?
Elsine: Back when Icas was younger, you see—
Icas: E-El! Don't go telling them about my past!
Icas becomes visibly red in the face, clearly embarrassed.
Elsine: Hehe, oh fine. I'll give you a break just this once.
Elsine: We've got other stories to hear right now, anyway.
Elsine strides over toward the bound men.
Elsine: Listen up, because I'm only asking once.
Elsine: Who sent you, and what the hell were you hoping to accomplish? Actually, I want you to spill everything.
Elsine: Are you willing to do that? If so, I may just consider at least sparing your lives.
Man 1: ...!
You serious? No joking, now.
Elsine: Yes. You'd be a waste of my strength, frankly.
Man 2: A-all right, all right! I'll tell ya everything I know, so—
The sounds of gunshots ring through the air. Both men's heads go limp.
Vyrn: Huh?
Lyria: Oh... Oh no...
Startled by the attack, (Captain) and the others draw their weapons and begin to frantically check their surroundings.
More men emerge from the dark city streets.
Elsine: It's clear they didn't want those guys to talk... Pretty wise move.
Elsine: They were definitely unfit to lead the life of a gangster.
Man 3: Pretty bold of you to say, surrounded by so many of their brethren.
Man 3: You're right though. Looks like you know a thing or two about the mafia.
Weapons at the ready, the men eye both (Captain) and Yuisis.
Yuisis: So you were after (Captain) and I this whole time.
Yuisis: Safe to assume that you're Arrogante's goons, yeah?
Man 3: ...
Yuisis: Not gonna talk? Looks like I'll need to force the answer outta ya.
Man 3: You expectin' to beat us with your puny numbers?
Yuisis: Quality over quantity. You two-bit punks are nothing in the face of our combined strength.
Elsine: She's right, you know. I'm afraid you gentlemen also have one thing very, very wrong.
Man 3: Huh? What'd you just say?
Elsine: It's not just us here.
Elsine raises her arm.
The sounds of gunshots can be heard ringing from all directions.
Man 3: Gah!
Man 4: Urgh!
Elsine: Had quite enough?
The rain of bullets ceases as Elsine lowers her arm.
The very next moment, another group of men emerges from the shadows.
Lyria: Um... Who are these people?
Elsine: Don't worry. They're family.
Elsine: I wouldn't be much of a leader if I wasn't prepared for an attack or two during such an important meeting.
Elsine: We took the necessary precautions to ensure that we were prepared for anything.
Yuisis: I dunno, seems like a bit much to me. After all, we've got (Captain) and Icas here to boot...
Elsine: I'm doing everything in my power to make sure that no more of my precious family are hurt.
Yuisis: El...
Vyrn: The fact that "an attack or two" seems totally normal to you, though...
Vyrn: Just what kinda world do you and Crazy Girl live in!
Yuisis: I'm the daughter of the Ditoria Knights' boss. It's only natural they'd come after me.
Elsine: I'm also someone they'd be after, especially considering I took control of one of their subordinate families.
Lyria: Urgh... What passes as common sense is totally different back in our own sphere.
Elsine: Putting that aside, it seems you've emerged relatively unscathed despite the circumstances.
Man 3: Damn yous! The hell you even need all those guns for?
Man 4: Cowards, every one of ya! Why don't you take us head-on?
Elsine: Heh, that's rich. Looks like someone hasn't been down the block before.
Elsine: I've got no time for this. Icas, I leave them to you.
Elsine: Oh, but leave one or two of them alive. We'll get them to talk later.
Icas: Understood.
Elsine: Let's get going.
Vyrn: H-hey! You sure it's okay to just leave 'em behind?
Elsine: Of course. Icas is a professional, after all.
Yuisis: Your trust in him is as strong as it ever was, I see.
Elsine: Yes, and for good reason. A lot has happened between us.
Elsine begins to walk ahead.
The events that have transpired this night only serve to remind (Captain) and the crew that they are visitors in an unfamiliar world.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 2: Means and Ends - Episode 2

As Elsine explains that the aggressors were likely members of Arrogante's Eligoth Knights, the crew spots a group of thugs attacking a parent and child. The crew intercepts, while Elsine ignores them. Yuisis asks if she's forgotten her pride and chivalry in this line of work, to which Elsine remarks that she had cast that aside a long time ago.

(Captain) and the crew continue along the road toward Elsine's estate.
Vyrn takes the opportunity to ask the woman something that has been on their minds.
Vyrn: Hey, I was just wondering... Do attacks like that really happen so often?
Elsine: Yes, they're a common occurrence. My family and Arrogante's family... the Eligoth Knights... We're firmly at odds with each other at this point.
Elsine: Though this was the first time that the number of assailants was more than two or three people.
Elsine: It's likely that they sent more men in order to deal with you all.
Elsine glances over at Yuisis and the crew as she explains her reasoning.
Yuisis: Looks like we've brought you some unwanted trouble... Sorry about that.
Elsine: Pay it no mind. Like I said, they are our enemies, and our struggles were bound to become more bloody at some point.
Elsine: And being that our ultimate goals are the restoration of the Ditoria Knights and vengeance for the boss and Treia, it's a reality that is impossible to avoid.
Elsine: This war is about to become much more vicious.
A violent roar echoes through the streets, followed by the crashing sound of something breaking.
The group turns around in a panic to see a woman bruised and battered, a child clinging to her leg.
A rampaging group of men are in pursuit behind them.
Lyria: ...!
We need to help them!
Elsine: These parts are just as restless as ever, I see. Come, we should keep moving.
Yuisis: What? They're layin' hands on a civilian! Are you planning to ignore that?
Elsine: That's right. It's got nothing to do with me.
Vyrn: H-hey now, that's crazy talk! They're attacking a defenseless mother and child!
Elsine: And? Seems like it's a problem that's up to them to solve.
Yuisis: El! What happened to your Ditorian chivalry?
Yuisis: We live to help and serve the weak and underprivileged! Have you forgotten our creed as a family?
Elsine: Pride and honor? Ditoria's chivalry? I discarded such outdated notions long ago.
Elsine: You can't protect anything important if you are bound by such things. That's what I learned on that day...
Yuisis: ...!
Elsine: My pride and honor are staked in things that are important to me.
Elsine: And they don't include any ounce of pity for the people on the streets.
Elsine: That's how it is for me.
Yuisis can sense the coldness in Elsine's eyes.
What the Luceria head has just said fills Yuisis with a silent fury.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 2: Means and Ends - Episode 3

Elsine joins the crew in fending off the thugs, then remarks that she only bothered to jump in to help Yuisis and didn't care at all about the parent and child being threatened. Yuisis is appalled to see how much Elsine has changed from her past self.

(Captain) and the crew witness a mother and child being attacked by gangsters in the city streets.
Elsine attempts to convince them not to intervene, noting that the affairs of civilians are none of their concern.
Yuisis reacts in anger and disappointment before springing into action.
Yuisis: Let's go, (Captain)!
(Captain) nods in agreement, and the crew rushes over to help the pair.
Elsine: ...
Elsine: (The chivalry of the Ditoria Knights... It would appear that she still clings on to that nonsense...)
Elsine: (I'll have to have a proper sit-down with her to convince her to abandon that which would serve to hinder.)
Elsine: (It would be disastrous if any of those ideals seeped into the family after we finally achieve its restoration...)
Elsine: You're still naive, Yuisis.
Elsine: You won't last much longer in this cutthroat world thinking like that.
Elsine talks to herself as she gives chase to the group.
Gangster 1: I thought I told you to come over here!
Mother: S-stop it! Let me go! I've done nothing to you!
Gangster 2: That may be true, but our boss's got a real eye for ya.
Gangster 2: Now come on, he's waiting for his new lady.
Mother: I'll be the one to decide that!
Gangster 1: Hey, you can't blame us. Blame yourself for bein' just the boss's type!
The man begins to forcefully drag the woman away.
Child: Mama!
Gangster 2: Tch, we've got no use for a brat. Now scram, kid!
The man clicks his tongue in disgust as he brings his fist down on the child.
Child: ...!
(Captain) grabs the man's arm before the attack connects.
Gangster 2: Ow, ow ow ow!
Lyria: A-are you all right?
Child: Y-yeah...
The crew is relieved to see the child removed from harm's way.
Lyria: Hurry, get behind us. We'll keep you safe.
Child: Thanks, lady!
Mother: Thank you so much.
Mother and child escape the grasp of the men and retreat behind the crew to safety.
Gangster 2: Hey, where the hell do you think you're going!
The man proceeds to break free from (Captain)'s grasp and rushes over to his companion.
Yuisis: You two more than anyone else should know that the chivalrous don't lay hands on civilians.
Yuisis: I hope you're ready to pay the price.
Gangster 2: Pft, what the hell are you goin' on about? Don't lump us in with you. We're part of the Frackter Knights now!
Yuisis: The Frackter Knights?
Elsine: They're a new organization that's been creeping around these parts lately.
Elsine: I heard it was just a gathering of third-rate punks...
Elsine: Seems the reports were true.
A familiar voice speaks up from behind them.
They turn around to see an exasperated Elsine.
Yuisis: El? What are you doing over here?
Yuisis: I thought you said this was none of your concern.
Elsine: It's true that what becomes of this mother and child is none of my concern.
Elsine: But it's another story if you're getting involved, Yuisis. You're family after all.
Gangster 1: Sorry to interrupt a tender reunion, but it's time to die!
The men rush toward Elsine, shivs in hand.
Elsine: Heh... Like I said, third-rate.
Elsine makes short work of the men with her own blade.
Gangster 1: Gah!
Gangster 2: Ow, that hurts!
Elsine: I'll be the one to have you pay.
With those words, Elsine brings her sword down on the men.
  1. That's enough!

Choose: That's enough!
Lyria: That's right! Elsine, this is too much!
Elsine: Too much? What an odd thing to say.
Elsine: I'm thinking that it's about time they reap what they've sowed.
Vyrn: Oh boy... Now I'm having flashbacks to when we first met Crazy Girl...
Lyria: A-anyway, that's enough!
Yuisis: El... These guys just aren't worth it.
Yuisis: Let 'em go crawling back to their boss.
Yuisis: It'll likely serve to strike some fear into 'em for a while.
Elsine: You make a good point.
Gangster 1: El-Elsine? You mean the boss of the Luceria Knights Elsine?
Elsine: Oh, so you are aware of who I am?
Gangster 2: Y-yikes! Let's get outta here before she really kills us!
The men's faces go pale at their realization. In the next moment, they run off in a frenzy.
Vyrn: Well, that settles that then?
Yuisis: Probably. Looks like they're well aware that they rustled the hornet's nest that is the Luceria Knights.
Elsine: ...
Mother: I-I must thank you again for coming to our aid. How can I ever repay you...
Elsine: Direct your thanks to them, not me. If it weren't for them rushing over here, I would not have even thought of approaching.
Yuisis: El... Why...
Yuisis struggles to comprehend this change in her longtime family member's demeanor.
The crew looks on at Yuisis with uneasy expressions.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 2: Means and Ends - Episode 4

Elsine explains that experiencing Arrogante's betrayal and its aftermath turned her away from Ditorian chivalry. Her remark about harming even civilians if that's what it takes to protect her family has Yuisis concerned.

It is late in the evening by the time (Captain) and the crew arrive at Elsine's residence. She shows her guests to their rooms.
Soon after, Yuisis emerges from her room for a private conversation with Elsine.
Yuisis: El, there's something I want to ask you...
Yuisis: You mentioned back there that you've discarded your ideals as a Ditoria Knight...
Yuisis: That you live by your own code of honor now.
Yuisis: And that there's no room in your heart for the common people now...
Yuisis: Did I get that right?
Elsine: Yes, that's right.
Yuisis: You used to stand before everyone as a shining beacon of Ditorian chivalry...
Yuisis: We thought one and the same.
Elsine: ...
Yuisis: Did something happen to shake those ideals, El?
Yuisis: What made you change so drastically?
Elsine: It's simple, really. There is no value in Ditorian chivalry.
Elsine: I just happened to notice that.
Elsine begins to recount past events once again.
Elsine: As members of the Ditoria Knights, we valued humanity and chivalry.
Elsine: It was our duty to help anyone in need, including civilians.
Yuisis: We listened to their requests and even went as far as busting down other gangs for them, didn't we...
Elsine: We stuck our necks out for the common folk...
Elsine: But what did they ever do for us in return?
Yuisis: They... They would...
Elsine: Surely you must know what the people out there think of the Ditoria Knights now?
Yuisis: Yes...
Yuisis's face becomes wrought with pain at these words.
Elsine: The city was torn to shreds in the aftermath of Arrogante's rebellion.
Elsine: Things changed after the fall of the Ditoria Knights.
Elsine: No one was guaranteed any sort of safety or peace...
Elsine: And that was entirely Arrogante's doing.
Elsine: Yet, the city folk seemed content to place all the blame on the Ditoria Knights.
Elsine: They said that it was our fault, yet they seemed to forget...
Elsine: They forgot that it was Ditoria's very existence that brought them that security.
Elsine: I struggled to understand why they would turn on us like that, when such an obvious villain was at play.
Yuisis: ...
Elsine: I saw it with my own two eyes...
Elsine: I saw all manner of betrayal.
Elsine: My very own parents...
Elsine: Other members of the family and countless civilians were so quick to change their allegiances...
Elsine: In seeing that, I finally came to realize that all that talk of chivalry and honor was naivety in the truest sense.
Elsine: The me who clung to those ideals couldn't do anything to stop what would happen...
Yuisis: That's why you decided to throw it all away?
Elsine: I live according to my own set of principles now.
Elsine: I live to protect that which is important to me, and those whom I love and trust.
Elsine: I won't hesitate to crush anyone who gets in my way, and I definitely don't discriminate between mafia and civilians.
Elsine: Anyone else's problems are just distractions—ones that I choose to ignore.
Elsine: That's how I choose to live my life now. That is my creed.
Yuisis: ...
Yuisis falls speechless at Elsine's words.
Elsine remains unmoved in the face of Yuisis's devastation.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 3: Differing Creeds - Episode 1

During a nighttime chat over drinks, Elsine encourages Yuisis to break apart from (Captain), claiming that the crew's naivete is a bad influence on her. She presents an ultimatum: if Yuisis refuses to change her ways, then Elsine will defeat her and take over as the new Ditoria Knights' boss.

Yuisis returns to her room to retire for the night after her conversation with Elsine.
Yuisis: (I thought I would get a better idea as to why Elsine's changed...)
Yuisis: (To think that she's changed so much...)
Yuisis: (I'm no stranger to betrayal and atrocity, even at the hands of those outside our world...)
Yuisis: (I can understand where she's coming from...)
Yuisis: (But I just can't get on board with the way she's thinking now.)
Yuisis: (She's no longer aligned with the Ditoria way of thinking... No, Ditoria's very way of being...)
Yuisis: (Yet she hopes to one day see to the family's revival?)
Yuisis: (I don't see that ending well...)
Yuisis: Sigh... I won't get any sleep if I keep thinkin' about all this...
Yuisis: Let me go get some fresh air.
Yuisis steps outside of her room.
She makes her way down the hallway toward the front door.
Peering to her side, she spots Elsine on a patio sipping a drink while gazing up at the moon.
Yuisis: El...
Elsine: Oh, Yuisis? Can't sleep?
Yuisis: Y-yeah. The sandman seems to be evadin' me tonight.
Elsine: I see... Care to join me for a drink? It's awfully lonely out here by myself.
Yuisis: If that's the case, I'd be happy to oblige.
Yuisis takes a seat next to Elsine.
Elsine: Let me pour you one.
Yuisis: Thanks...
Yuisis: Ah... That's some good stuff.
Elsine: Heehee. Another, shall we?
Elsine pours another round into Yuisis's empty glass.
Yuisis: Thank you. But my...
Yuisis glances around at the many empty bottles sprawled about and offers up a hesitant smile.
Yuisis: You can really hold your liquor... it seems. Or perhaps you're drinking a bit too much?
Elsine: Yes, yes. You're sounding a lot like Icas right now.
Yuisis: Oh, speaking of Icas... Does he not drink with you?
Elsine: Says he doesn't have a taste for alcohol, so he doesn't oblige me.
Yuisis: Really? That seems unlike him, given how attached he usually is to you...
Elsine: How often do you drink, Yuisis?
Yuisis: I'll occasionally partake when I'm alone in my room, or if I'm invited to do so by one of the crew.
Elsine: Right... (Captain)'s crew.
Elsine: Yuisis, do you mind if I ask you something this time?
Elsine: What have you been doing until now? How did you even come to meet (Captain)?
Yuisis: I don't mind telling the story, but it's a bit on the long side. Is that fine with you?
Elsine: It is. Please tell me.
Yuisis starts from the beginning.
She tells Elsine about how she met (Captain), and about that which would lead her to joining the crew on their journey.
About her meeting with Elea at her parents' graves, and the fight between them that would soon follow.
Elsine: I see. I'm starting to get the picture.
Elsine: You've been leading quite the cushy, sheltered life these past few years. That explains a lot.
Yuisis: El, what are you trying to say?
Elsine: Please, Yuisis. Isn't it about time you faced reality?
Elsine: The world is not so kind that you can get by on platitudes alone. You know that very well, don't you?
Yuisis: ...
Elsine: All of the Ditoria Knights' talk of chivalry only served to make themselves look good in the eyes of others.
Elsine: It was self-satisfactory nonsense.
Elsine: And it is exactly what bred the traitors in our ranks.
Yuisis: El! You of all people!
In a fit of anger, Yuisis grabs Elsine by the collar.
Elsine: Tell me, Yuisis. What good did that chivalry ever do?
Elsine: No matter how much good you do for others... No matter how much you help them...
Elsine: People can easily turn their backs on you. I shouldn't have to remind you.
Yuisis: Th-that's...
Yuisis is at a loss for words once more.
Elsine sighs and removes herself from Yuisis's grasp.
Elsine: Remember this, Yuisis.
Elsine: A boss in the mafia needs to be able to judge friend from foe with a level head.
Elsine: It doesn't matter if that person is a family member, or even a civilian.
Elsine: It's a job that requires a hardened heart.
Elsine: There's certainly no room for the kind of naivety that you exhibit.
Yuisis: ...!
It's the way of Ditoria—
Elsine: What will you do when someone steps up to betray you again, even after rebuilding the family?
Elsine: Would you simply allow a repeat of the crushing despair that would follow?
Yuisis: N-no...
Elsine: I know that you wish to see the return of the family you knew—the one built by the boss and Treia...
Elsine: I understand where you're coming from, and I would have liked to have done the same.
Elsine: But reality is not so kind.
Elsine: Such naive thinking is not going to get us anywhere in this cruel world.
Yuisis: But I've seen it work... (Captain) makes it work...
Elsine: I knew that (Captain)'s merry band was a bad influence on you.
Elsine: Yuisis, I demand that you cut ties with (Captain).
Yuisis: El... There are certain things that I won't allow even you to say.
Gran is the Main Character

Yuisis: (Captain) is the kind of person... The kind of leader that I aspire to be. Moreover, the crew is precious family to me.
Djeeta is the Main Character

Yuisis: (Captain) is the kind of person... The kind of leader that I aspire to be. Moreover, the crew is precious family to me.
Yuisis: Why would you have me cut ties with them?
Yuisis: I urge you to think very carefully about how you are going to answer...
Elsine: You'll never come to grips with reality if you keep going along as you are.
Elsine: (Captain) is entirely to blame.
Elsine: As long as you keep traveling with that crew, nothing will change.
Yuisis: So you would have me cut ties with them completely?
Elsine: Indeed. Yuisis, ours is a world completely separate from theirs.
Elsine: It's not the kind of world where one can get by on niceties alone.
Yuisis: Wh-what are you...
Elsine: It may serve the civilians well, but we're mafia.
Yuisis: ...
Elsine: That civilian way of thinking will just serve to eat away at the family once again.
Yuisis: You don't accept the crew as part of my family, do you?
Elsine: I'm glad you finally realized.
Yuisis: I have. You've been treating them much differently.
Yuisis: I've picked up on how much more distant you are when talkin' with them...
Elsine: Yes, and I choose to place my trust in them because you do.
Elsine: I refuse to acknowledge them as family, however. Their ways will only lead to rot from within.
Elsine: People like that have no place in our family.
Yuisis: ...
Elsine: As it stands, I can't even acknowledge you as the rightful boss of the Ditoria Knights.
Yuisis: ...!
Elsine: As long as you keep up that naive way of thinking...
Elsine: If you were to restore the family, I would come to cut you down myself.
Yuisis: El, please...
Elsine: That's the kind of resolve that I have. I hope you'll remember that.
Yuisis: ...
Elsine: Yuisis... This is a request as family. Please don't make me have to do that...
Elsine stands up, turns her back on Yuisis, and retires to her room for the night.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 3: Differing Creeds - Episode 2

While out for a walk in town at night, Yuisis confides in (Captain) that she's unsure if she's fit to be a leader. Icas shows up and asks Yuisis to follow along with Elsine's wishes. When Yuisis learns that Icas was also a traitor during Arrogante's rebellion, Elea turns up to answer why.

(Captain) is well aware that a rift exists between Yuisis and Elsine.
Unable to sleep, (Captain) decides to take a stroll.
(Captain) spots Yuisis sitting alone on a bench in a far-flung part of town.
Yuisis: (Captain)?
  1. It's late...
  2. It's dangerous to be out by yourself.

Choose: It's late...
Yuisis: It's just that... I couldn't sleep, so I decided to go on a walk...
Yuisis exhibits the look of a lost child.

Choose: It's dangerous to be out by yourself.
Yuisis: I appreciate your concern.
Yuisis: But I'm okay, really. Even if anyone were to come at me around here, it wouldn't be anyone that I would easily lose to.
Yuisis attempts to hide her anxiety with a smile.
Continue 1
Yuisis: Look who's talking, though. What are you doing out here?
Yuisis: What would you do if someone were to attack?
  1. I've been keeping proper watch.

Choose: I've been keeping proper watch.
Unable to sleep, (Captain) shares that an evening stroll was in order.
Yuisis: Gotcha... Same as me then. Won't you sit down next to me, (Captain)?
(Captain) nods and takes a seat next to Yuisis on the bench.
Yuisis: (Captain), you once told me that it's okay for me to rely on my family, yeah?
Yuisis: Can I rely on you now... for something?
  1. Of course.

Choose: Of course.
Yuisis moves closer and rests her head on (Captain)'s shoulder.
Yuisis: ...
  1. You can always talk to me.

Choose: You can always talk to me.
Yuisis: Thanks... But I'm not even sure myself what I want to say...
Yuisis: Let me think for a bit...
Yuisis: ...
Yuisis is overcome with anxiety and uncertainty.
That much is clear to (Captain).
In an effort to calm her nerves even a little, (Captain) begins to stroke the girl's head.
Yuisis: Um... (Captain)?
  1. I'll stop if it's bothering you.

Choose: I'll stop if it's bothering you.
Yuisis: N-no, it's not bothering me at all. I'm just a little surprised...
Yuisis: So please, k-keep it up as long as you like...
A wave of crimson flushes over Yuisis's face.
(Captain) nods and continues.
Yuisis: Thank you, (Captain).
Yuisis: You know, Mom and Dad would also pat my head when I was little...
Yuisis: They would tell me about what it meant to be part of the Ditoria family, and what it meant to be a leader...
Yuisis: ...
Yuisis: Can I ask you something, (Captain)?
Yuisis: Do you think I've got what it takes to be a boss?
Yuisis: Do I even stack up to the likes of you and dad?
Yuisis: ...
Yuisis: Sorry, ignore that.
Yuisis: It's been a long night and now I'm just babbling...
(Captain) can still sense that something is bothering the girl.
Without saying a word, (Captain) continues patting her head.
Time passes as the two sit on the bench in silence.
(Captain) feels the presence of another nearby and takes a cautious look around.
Yuisis: (Captain)?
Icas: It looks like I've been found out.
Icas: And here I was thinking that my stealth skills were second to none.
Icas emerges from the darkness. Upon noticing his figure, Yuisis struggles to hide her embarrassment.
Yuisis: I-Icas?
Icas: Sorry... Was I interrupting something? I bet you rarely get a chance such as this...
Icas bows awkwardly to Yuisis and (Captain).
Yuisis: ...!
Icas: But I must say...
Yuisis: What must you say?
Icas: I must say... It has been a while since I have seen you looking so content.
Icas: Lady Yuisis, you've really placed your full trust behind (Captain)...
Icas: Or perhaps I should say that you are really fond of (Captain).
Icas: Never in all of my years together with you have I ever witnessed such a face...
Yuisis: Icas... I presume that you're ready to pay the ultimate price for making fun of me?
Her face ruby-red, Yuisis reaches for the Ditoria blade at her waist.
Icas: Sorry, sorry! I'll say no more.
Yuisis: Sigh... So is there something you need?
Yuisis: You probably weren't trying to ensure our safety or anything like that.
Yuisis: You're El's trusted bodyguard though, so you wouldn't leave her side without a good reason.
Icas: That's correct. I've been meaning to get the chance to speak to you about something of the utmost importance, however.
Yuisis: Is this... about El?
Icas: Yes. Indeed, you appear to be shocked about El's change in demeanor.
Yuisis: I am... She's like an entirely different person.
Icas: El was betrayed by the very things and people that she placed her ultimate faith in. I would say that her reaction is natural.
Icas recalls the past with a troubled expression.
Icas: As it stands, El will stop at nothing to protect what is important to her.
Icas: She believes that if she does not adopt such a ruthless stance, then she won't be able to protect anything.
Icas: And there are plenty of things that she's determined... or rather, obsessed with protecting.
Icas: That includes you, Yuisis, and the Ditoria Knights.
Yuisis: Because she feels responsible for my parents' death and the fall of the family?
Icas: Exactly. She's always talking of her plans to revive the organization.
Icas: And about how it's her way of atoning for her transgression against you and your parents...
Yuisis: Icas, what are you trying to say?
Icas: Simply, I wish that you would not turn your back on El.
Icas: In fact, I wish for you to live up to her expectations.
Icas: I want to see her ambitions met... The revival of the Ditoria Knights.
Yuisis: ...
Yuisis: I'm sorry, I've got no response for you at the moment.
Icas: I see...
Yuisis: And can I ask you something? Do you agree with the way El sees things?
Icas: I care not about the means, only the end.
Yuisis: To tell you the truth, I've always wondered why you've clung so steadfastly to her side.
Yuisis: You consider yourself a brother to her... I've also thought that strange...
Icas: Ah, I suppose you wouldn't be aware of the reason for that.
Icas: As an orphan child, I was forced to perform dirty work for a certain gang. I can attribute my current skill set to that.
Icas: There was actually a time wherein I was targeting El... And I failed.
Icas: Despite aiming for her very life, El took me in and saved me from that wretched lifestyle.
Icas: That kindness that she showed me... Taking me in as a member of her family and allowing me to call myself her brother...
Yuisis: This is your way of repaying her for that, then?
Icas: That's not all...
Icas: During the rebellion, I sided with El's parents.
Yuisis: ...!
Icas: She ended up taking me back, however. Together with a certain promise I made.
Icas: That's when I decided to devote my life—my entire being—to El.
Yuisis: Not you too, Icas...
Yuisis: You knew how El felt! You lived and breathed the creed!
Yuisis: Why, Icas! Why did you—
Icas: I cannot answer that.
Yuisis: Icas!
???: Because if he didn't side with Arrogante at that time, then Elsine wouldn't even be alive today...
Elea: At least, that's what her parents and Arrogante told him.
Icas: ...!
Yuisis: Elea...
Elea: It's been a while, Yuisis, (Captain), Icas.
An unexpected voice interrupts their impassioned debate.
Elea emerges from the darkness, to the shock of everyone present.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 3: Differing Creeds - Episode 3

Elea explains that Icas had no choice but to follow along with Arrogante's rebellion if he wanted Elsine to survive. After handing over a letter of challenge, she takes off. Yuisis looks forward to winning their upcoming duel.

(Captain), Yuisis, and Icas are stunned by the sudden appearance of Elea.
Remembering their last encounter, (Captain) takes a defensive stance.
Elea: Oh please, relax. I'm not after any of your lives at the moment.
Yuisis: Elea... There are a ton of things I've been meaning to ask you.
Yuisis: Before we get that far, though, is what you said just before the truth?
Elea: Yes, cross my heart. I heard it right from the mouths of the girl's own parents.
Yuisis: I see... So that's why you betrayed Ditoria, Icas...
Icas: The reason matters not. The fact remains that I live to protect El above all else.
Icas: And now, to repay her for the hardship I've caused, I've devoted my life to her ambitions.
Elea: Mm, El has a powerful ally at her side indeed.
Elea: And I presume that it is because of this pledge to her that she let you live, unlike the other traitors...
Icas: That's right. And it's for that reason, too, that she considers me family.
Yuisis: Wait, she was planning on killing you? Even after everything you—
Icas: Lady Yuisis, this may sound impertinent, but I do believe you could afford to be more ruthless.
Icas: Your overt kindness is just going to get you killed one day.
Yuisis: But you're both family, and—
Icas: It could even be at the hand of someone you consider family.
Elea: Icas is right, you know. Your ideas of family are a bit out of touch.
Yuisis: ...
Icas: Let's put that aside. Why are you here, Elea? My next move depends entirely on your answer...
Icas raises his blade at Elea.
Elea: Sheathe your weapon, Icas. I thought I already told you that I'm not after any of your lives.
Icas: ...!
Icas trembles at Elea's command and hesitantly lowers his weapon.
Elea: Now first, I owe an apology to both (Captain) and Yuisis.
Yuisis: Eh, an apology? What do you mean?
Elea: I'm sorry for spying on you two.
Yuisis: ...!
Wait, Elea, you were watching us too?
Elea: Yes. I felt like I needed to, as your honorary sister.
Elea: It was kind of exciting too.
Elea: Yuisis, I'm very happy that you've finally found someone to treat you right.
Yuisis: ...!
Elea: I've hardly seen your pretty face looking so content.
Elea: And true contentment's definitely not something that we in the business get to experience very often.
Elea: It's too bad I have to make both you and your beloved captain cash in your chips.
Yuisis: Huh... Elea... Come again?
Elea: Take this, Yuisis, (Captain).
Elea hands (Captain) and Yuisis a sealed document.
Yuisis: What's this... A letter of challenge?
Elea: Yes. Time and place are written inside. Let's settle this.
Yuisis: ...
Yuisis: One thing, Elea.
Yuisis: Why now?
Yuisis: Why didn't you just finish us off in that last attack?
Elea: What attack? There was an attack?
Elea tilts her head in ignorance. Yuisis tells her that she was referring to the attack that the crew endured earlier that night.
Elea: Oh, so that happened, huh? Sorry, I had no part in that.
Elea: There are likely plenty of Arrogante's people out to get you.
Icas: And every one of them is targeting us in their own unique ways.
Icas: What a pain...
Yuisis: Elea, one more thing.
Yuisis: Coming after me is a given, but why are you after (Captain) too?
Elea: Don't ask me what Arrogante's thinking.
Elea: As a member of his private guard, I simply do as I'm ordered to.
Yuisis: ...!
Why... Why the hell are you so attached to him?
Yuisis: He's tellin' you to come after me and those dearest to me, and you're just blindly followin' his orders?
Icas: I must say that I'm curious about that too. I remember you being against Arrogante at the time of his rebellion...
Icas: So why...
Elea: ...
Yuisis: Answer me! I have to know!
Elea: I believe I already said this, Yuisis. We're enemies now, and there's nothing to be gained from trying to "understand" each other.
Elea: If there's anything you really want to know, then you're going to have to beat it out of me.
Yuisis: ...!
Elea: Next time we meet, it's on for real. I suggest you come with the intent to kill.
Elea: If not, then you're going to be the one who dies.
Yuisis: ...!
I'm not going to lose! I'm going to beat you and make you tell me everything!
Yuisis: That's why I've been learning from (Captain) all this time!
Elea: Then I'm looking forward to our duel.
A tinge of sadness fills Elea's eyes as she looks at Yuisis and Icas.
Elea: Yuisis, Icas, El... and myself... There's no escaping those Ditoria ties, is there?
Icas: It would appear that way. Perhaps it's more of a curse at this point.
Elea: When you put it that way...
Elea: Still, (Captain). You've got nothing to do with this. You're clearly the outsider here.
Elea: I would advise you to cut off all familial ties with Yuisis as soon as you are able. You should just forget about all of this...
Elea: And if you can do that, I can swear to you that I would never bother you again.
Yuisis: ...!
Elea: Naturally, I can assure you that Arrogante would stay his hand as well.
Elea: These are my words, not his. But I'll do everything in my power to see that it is so.
Elea: Even if it was for only a brief period, I want to thank you for looking after Yuisis and for showing her a good time.
Elea: What do you say? Would you take me up on this offer?
Hearing Elea's proposal, Yuisis looks over to (Captain), her face awash with dread.
  1. Don't make me laugh!
  2. I'm not throwing away family!

Choose: Don't make me laugh!
(Captain) gazes fiercely at Elea, firmly rejecting her offer.
Elea: Oh, those eyes are quite scary. I thought this back then too, but they really do suit you.
Upon saying this, Elea appears lost in thought.
Yuisis: Elea?
Elea: I can see why Yuisis likes you so much.
Elea: Oh well. If that's the case, then I have no problem taking you on as well.

Choose: I'm not throwing away family!
Yuisis: (Captain)!
(Captain) glances at Yuisis with a kind smile.
Elea: A civilian throwing away their life for a mafia family?
(Captain) nods without hesitation.
Elea: Such spirit... I'm impressed.
Elea: Then I have nothing left to say. No more questions or proposals from me.
Continue 1
Elea turns her back on the three.
Elea: Yuisis, I wanted different for you... Not having to worry about the mafia world or things like "chivalry." I just wanted you to lead a normal, civilian life.
Elea: If that could have been the case, then it wouldn't have had to come to this...
Yuisis: Elea...
Elea: I'll see you at the spot in the letter.
Elea walks into the night without so much as a glance behind.
The next morning, (Captain) and Yuisis share what happened the night before with everyone.
Elsine: To think that Elea would come to deliver a challenge directly...
Vyrn: Um, so... Crazy Girl. Sorry to have to ask this, but can you win against that lady?
Yuisis: I can win. No, I will win.
Yuisis: I'm going to have her tell me everything she knows.
Yuisis shifts her gaze to the Ditoria blade on her waist, her expression filled with determination.
  1. I'll be fighting right beside you.

Choose: I'll be fighting right beside you.
Yuisis: Thank you, (Captain). But I'm sorry...
Yuisis: I want you to let me settle this with her by myself.
Vyrn: Huh? Come again?
Elsine: Yuisis, what are you thinking? You have a death wish?
Icas: I'm also opposed to this. Yuisis... compared to Elea, you're...
Yuisis: I know that it'll be tough, but I want to settle this on my own.
Yuisis: Elea is like a sister to me...
Lyria: Yuisis...
  1. I will respect your wish.

Choose: I will respect your wish.
Vyrn: H-hey! You really plan on leaving this all up to Crazy Girl?
(Captain) nods at Vyrn.
Elsine: So it's come to this... Icas.
Icas: Yes?
Elsine: I want you spend as much time as you can training with Yuisis.
Icas: You want... me to? (Captain) looks more than capable for the job if you ask me...
Elsine: I don't disagree with your high praise for (Captain), but you're the only one for the job.
Elsine: You know Elea's style better than anyone else.
Elsine: In terms of visualization training, you're the ideal sparring partner.
Elsine: Only if Yuisis would have your aid, naturally.
Yuisis: Yes, I would like that very much. Anything to increase my chances of beating her.
Icas: Very well. I will teach you everything I know.
Elsine: ...
Elsine: (This is my chance. Yuisis, I'm going to ascertain for myself if you are fit to be boss.)
Elsine: (I'll see if you truly have what it takes.)
Vyrn: We'll help you out too, Crazy Girl!
Lyria: That's right! I couldn't bear to see you get hurt.
(Captain) nods in agreement.
Yuisis: Thank you, everyone...
A bright smile flashes across her face.
Yuisis: (I can win this. I'll show you just how strong I've become!)
Yuisis: (I won't let everything the crew's given me go to waste... This is also my way of protectin' (Captain).)
Yuisis: (I'll make sure my feelings get through to Elea as well...)
As if in response to Yuisis's determination, the Ditoria blade glows faintly.
No one is able to witness the phenomenon, however.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 3: Differing Creeds - Episode 4

Yuisis visits her parents' graves and finds Elea there. They later move to her family home—the place where it all began—to carry out their duel.

On the day of the duel, the crew, accompanied by Elsine and Icas, make their way to the location written in Elea's letter of challenge.
The duel will take place at Yuisis's old estate.
Before arriving, Yuisis requests that they make a visit to her parents' graves.
The group obliges, and they make a short detour.
Yuisis: Elea?
Elea: ...
They spot Elea with folded hands in front of the tombstones. The woman turns toward them at the sound of Yuisis's voice.
Elea: Yuisis, (Captain), and even El... Have you all come to pay your respects as well?
Yuisis: Yes. I want to tell them about our duel and about a whole host of other things.
Elea: I see... Well then, go ahead.
Yuisis: Have you finished talking to Mom and Dad?
Elea: Mhmm, I've told them everything I wanted to.
Elea: (After all, I'll likely be joining them soon.)
Elea backs away from the graves.
Yuisis: These flowers... These were Mom's favorite. Did you bring these, Elea?
Elea: Yes, though I'm not sure how welcome of a visitor I am...
Elea: I figured she would at least take some of her favorite flowers.
Yuisis: That's probably right.
Elsine: Yuisis, would you allow me to pay my respects to the boss and Treia as well?
Elsine: I couldn't even attend their funeral, and I've been meaning to apologize.
Yuisis: Of course. Knowing my parents though, I doubt they ever held it against you.
Elsine: That's... reassuring.
Yuisis and Elsine step before the grave and clasp their hands by their hearts.
After conveying everything they wish to say, they bow respectfully before backing away from the graves.
Elea: It's been a long time, El.
Elea: I don't think we've seen each other since my visit to the Luceria Knights for a mission.
Elea: I never would have thought that you would take over and betray Arrogante.
Elsine: Please don't try to instigate some idle chit-chat. I'm not here to speak with a traitor. You and I are enemies.
Elsine: And I've nothing to say to my enemies.
Elea: ...
Elsine: Furthermore, I would only have my most valued family call me by my nickname.
Elsine: A traitor like you has no right to the level of intimacy afforded to my family.
Elsine rebukes Elea's attempts at pleasantry with an intimidating scowl.
Elea: I understand.
Elea: Let's move to the agreed-upon place. I have no intention of disturbing their peaceful slumber.
The crew follows Elea to the ruins of Yuisis's estate.
The crew arrives to be greeted with scenes of destruction.
There remains only the charred and decaying rubble of what appeared to be a mansion.
Yuisis: Elea, before we begin, I have one thing to ask you.
Yuisis: Why did you choose this island... My former home?
Elea: This is where the Ditoria Knights were founded, and also where they met their end.
Elea: If you can beat me today, Yuisis, then you will be one step closer toward reestablishing the family.
Elea: But if you lose, it all ends here for good.
Yuisis: I see... So that's how it is. You have a flare for the dramatic, I'll give you that.
Yuisis: This will be the deciding factor, then—to see if the Ditoria Knights are revived, or if they are destined to fall into eternal obscurity.
Elea: Yes, something like that. I think we've talked enough, now.
Elea draws Vasuria from her side.
Icas: ...!
Elea, why do you have Arrogante's sword?
Elea: He lent it to me so that I could defeat (Captain) and Yuisis.
Elea: Awaken, Vasuria!
The Vasuria begins to emit an azure and ebony glow.
The darker the sword grows, the more power it exudes.
Yuisis: ...!
Yuisis begins to tremble in the wake of Vasuria's tremendous power.
Yuisis: (This is Elea ready to give it her all... Can I really beat her?)
  1. Believe in yourself!

Choose: Believe in yourself!
In an effort to calm Yuisis's nerves, (Captain) gently grasps her hand.
Yuisis: (Captain)...
Yuisis: (It's strange... With (Captain)'s support behind me, I can feel the courage well up from inside.)
Yuisis: Thank you, (Captain). Now I know I've got this.
Yuisis slaps herself on the cheek and tightens her grip on Ditoria.
Yuisis: And remember, no interfering, okay?
(Captain) nods and backs away from the girl.
Yuisis: It's a duel, Elea. Our ideals clash face-to-face.
Elea: Still talking a big talk?
Elea: Didn't you learn anything from our last fight?
Yuisis: Believe me, I really let it get to me. The gap in our power was immense.
Yuisis: I'm not the same person you faced before, however. I'm going to beat you.
Elea: You may end up regretting those words...
Elsine: You have (Captain) and myself as witnesses.
Yuisis: Have at you, Elea!
Elea: Come, Yuisis!

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 4: Separation Anxiety - Episode 1

Elsine plunges Ditoria into the defeated Elea. She prepares to eliminate (Captain) next, but Yuisis gets in the way. Realizing that Yuisis has chosen the crew over her, Elsine turns against her.

Elea: Heh, not bad. But I can still—
Yuisis: No, it's over—Skyblade Heavensbane!
Elea: ...!
Unable to defend against the crushing blow, Elea's Vasuria is sent flying out of her hands.
Yuisis immediately follows up by bringing her blade to Elea's neck.
Yuisis: Huff... Huff... I've won this one, Elea.
Elea: Quite the big fish you've become, eh...
Elea: You've grown far beyond my expectations.
Elea: I accept my defeat.
Hearing those words, Yuisis pulls her blade from Elea's neck.
Elsine: Heh... You're too soft.
Elsine: Yuisis, hand me Ditoria.
Yuisis: El? Guess I can do that...
Though somewhat puzzled, Yuisis does as asked.
Elsine: Thanks.
Elsine walks up to Elea and runs Ditoria through her without a second thought.
Yuisis: Wha!
Elea: Guh...
Elsine: This is all the mercy you're going to get from me.
Elsine: By the blade symbolizing Ditoria Knights' leadership, may you rest in peace.
Elea: ...
Yuisis: Elea!
Vyrn: What's the big idea!
Yuisis and the others immediately rush over to Elea and tend to her wound.
Elsine: It's too late. The sword went through her vitals.
Yuisis: El! What have you done!
Elsine: Why so angry? I merely put the backstabber in her place.
Yuisis: ...!
There's no argument about Elea being a traitor.
Yuisis: But in the end, she was still family!
Yuisis: Knowing Elea, I'm sure she had her reasons for double-crossin' us...
Yuisis: Which is why I can't believe you just offed her without even askin' why!
Elsine: You have me lost. What's the point of asking?
Elsine: Don't tell me you might've forgiven her if you think she had a good enough reason.
Elsine: No, that couldn't possibly be it.
Elsine: Please tell me you're just joking.
Lyria: This is no joke! We could have come to an understanding if we had just talked it out!
Vyrn: Heck yeah! We've done it time and time again!
Elsine: What a bad influence your group is...
Lyria: Huh?
Elsine: Your naivete has clouded Yuisis's judgment.
Elsine: Forcing her to turn away from the cold, harsh truths of the world.
Elsine: It's no wonder she's still so attached to the Ditoria Knights' notion of chivalry.
Elsine stares daggers at the crew.
Elsine: If you're removed from the picture, maybe Yuisis will start facing reality...
Elsine: Only then will she start seeing things my way...
Elsine: In other words, (Captain)... Your existence is a problem. That's why...
Elsine: I need you gone!
In the next instant, Elsine swings Ditoria at the captain.
Yuisis: (Captain)!
Intent on protecting (Captain), Yuisis throws herself in Ditoria's path.
Yuisis: Gwuh!
Elsine: Wha...
  1. Yuisis!

Choose: Yuisis!
Yuisis: Ngh...
Elsine: No... This can't be... I didn't mean to hurt you, Yuisis...
Elsine: I just wanted you to wake up and...
She hurt Yuisis; she hurt family.
Aghast at what she had just done, Elsine sinks to the ground.
Icas: El!
Elsine: ...
Icas: El, pull yourself together! You said you'd do anything to protect what matters!
Icas: And that anything which doesn't matter can be cast aside...
Icas: You swore it to yourself!
Elsine: ...!
Elsine: Mm... I did say that, didn't I...
Elsine: I'm sorry, Icas. Thank you for reminding me.
Icas: Will you be okay? We could—
Elsine: I'm fine... I have something I must take care of right now.
Elsine turns to Yuisis, whose blood is leaking from her wound.
Elsine: Tell me, Yuisis... Why did you protect (Captain)?
Yuisis: You sayin' I need a reason to keep my family safe?
Elsine: ...!
Elsine: It's crystal clear to me now. (Captain)'s crew is a nuisance. They are my enemy.
Yuisis: ...!
Elsine: You're going to have to pick, Yuisis... Between (Captain) and me, who do you want to be your family?
Yuisis: ...
Elsine: I beg of you to choose us, Yuisis—
Yuisis: I'm sorry, El... I can't accept you... the way you are right now...
Yuisis: I don't think I can ever agree with your methods... That's why...
Elsine: Ah...
Elsine sinks to the ground once more, tears flowing from her eyes.
Elsine: So... you choose them over us as your family...
Elsine: From this point on... you're no longer my family...
Wiping her tears away, Elsine turns her back to Yuisis as if to say goodbye.
Elsine: The dear Yuisis I once knew is now dead to me.
Elsine: I'll rebuild the Ditoria Knights alone if I have to.
Elsine: And I'll be its new boss.
Elsine: It'll be my way of repaying everything Wendt and Treia did for me...
Elsine: Most importantly, it's the wish Yuisis and I always held on to...
Yuisis: El!
Elsine: I cannot accept you as Boss.
Elsine: If you insist on clinging to those beliefs...
Elsine: I'll just have to take you out and lead the newly rebuilt Ditoria Knights myself.
Elsine: If that's what it takes, I'm ready to go through with it. I don't go back on my word.
Yuisis: ...
Elsine: Goodbye, Yuisis... Family I once cared so much about.
Icas: El... You sure about this?
Elsine: Like I said, Yuisis is dead.
Icas: Very well. I'm with you all the way.
  1. ...!

Choose: ...!
A chill runs down the captain's spine, who prepares for battle.
Lyria: I-Icas! What are you—
Icas: You're El's enemy. That's more than reason enough for me.
Icas's relentless flurry of attacks pushes the crew away from Yuisis little by little.
Yuisis: (Captain)! Ngh!
Yuisis tries to join the battle but collapses once more from the overwhelming pain of her wound.
Elsine: Icas, continue holding them off.
Elsine: Don't let them get in my way.
Yuisis: Cough... El...
Elsine: You're no longer family... You don't get to call me that anymore.
Elsine: I decided to cast aside everything that's not precious to me.
Elsine: That's why... I have to kill you now.
Elsine: This is how I prove my resolve... To show that I'm not just talk...
Elsine: I can no longer retread my steps. I must steel my heart...
The teary-eyed Elsine raises Ditoria, her hands shaking all the while.
Lyria: No! Tiamat, I call—
Icas: !
  1. Oh, no you don't!

Choose: Oh, no you don't!
Icas rushes at Lyria, only to be fended off by (Captain) at the last possible moment.
Lyria: Eep!
Icas: Having looked into your abilities, I already know that Lyria has the power to summon primal beasts.
Icas: That power is a threat. I won't allow her to use it.
Icas: Well then, (Captain), do you think you'll be able to defeat me while protecting Lyria and Vyrn?
Icas: One wrong movement on their part, and... I'm sure I don't need to spell out what happens after that.
Distress and panic color (Captain)'s face, who glances over to Yuisis.
Yuisis: Cough...
Elsine: My beloved Yuisis is dead... You're just a shell... Goodbye...
Elsine brings Ditoria down on Yuisis.
(Captain) and company can do little more than scream in terror.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 4: Separation Anxiety - Episode 2

Elsine's attack on Yuisis is cut short by Arrogante and his men. He remarks that Yuisis must survive because her chivalry makes her the only one fit for leading the Ditoria Knights. He keeps Elsine and the Luceria Knights at bay, urging the crew to bring Yuisis to safety.

The crew screams in terror as Ditoria comes down on Yuisis.
But before the blade can connect, gunfire rings aloud.
Elsine: Rgh!
Elsine: ...!
Elsine immediately leaps back in response.
Icas: El!
Icas takes his eyes away from the crew and makes to run over to Elsine.
  1. Lyria, do it!

Choose: Lyria, do it!
Icas: Dammit!
Lyria: Tiamat, now!
Tiamat's gust of wind knocks Icas onto the ground.
(Captain) and company take advantage of this opening and rush over to Yuisis and Elea.
Yuisis: Huff... Huff...
Lyria: You're bleeding so much... We need to treat that.
Yuisis: Cough... It's fine... I'm more worried about Elea...
Vyrn: Okay, we hear ya. Stop talkin' for now.
Icas: El! Are you hurt?
Elsine: I'll be okay; the bullet went right through. Who was that anyway?
???: Can't have you killing off Yuisis.
The man behind the voice makes his appearance.
???: Nor can I have you leading the Ditoria Knights.
???: No, whoever takes over has gotta have a heart of chivalry.
???: And I can think of no one better than Yuisis, who embodies selfless heroism the way Wendt and Treia did.
???: You, on the other hand?
???: You discard everyone and everything you don't deem precious.
???: You believe your mindset to be the only correct one and refuse to heed the words of even those you consider family.
???: In fact, you're apparently okay with murdering family...
???: Care to tell me where in your actions I'm to find chivalry?
???: Your attitude's the same as those of us who take everything by force.
???: I thought you Luceria Knights were opposed to me. But in the end, I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
The faces of Yuisis and Elsine contort with rage at the very sight of the man.
Yuisis: Cough... Why... are you here!
Elsine: Arroganteeee!
Her heart filled with rancor, Elsine tightens her grip on Ditoria and charges at Arrogante.
Icas: El, no!
Arrogante: Hehe...
Arrogante picks up the Vasuria dropped by Elea earlier and meets the incoming attack head-on.
Elsine: You... You're going to die by my hand!
Elsine: For betraying the boss and Treia...
Elsine: For turning your back on the family... It's time to pay with your life!
Arrogante: Bold words for someone so lacking in skill.
Arrogante: You are unworthy of challenging me. Know your place.
Arrogante sends her body flying away with a forceful kick.
Elsine: Augh! This is nothing—
Eligoth Knight 2: Got you!
Elsine: ...!
Icas: Not on my watch!
An Eligoth Knight spots an opening and leaps in from behind Elsine.
However, Icas cuts him down before he can do any harm.
Elsine: Thank you, Icas. You saved me.
Icas: Of course I did. I am your brother.
Arrogante: Oh, what a waste... But no matter, I have plenty of other pawns.
Arrogante snaps his finger, signaling for a large group of armed Eligoth Knights to come out from hiding.
Icas: Tch! You guys keep them away from El!
An alarmed Icas whistles for reinforcements.
Armed Luceria Knights appear in the surroundings.
Arrogante: So you were hiding troops yourselves, I see. This is going to be interesting.
Elsine: ...
A battle between the Eligoth and Luceria Knights is about to unfold, with Arrogante and Elsine at the center of it all.
(Captain) and company find themselves surrounded by the two gangs and are unable to move freely.
Arrogante: You must be (Captain).
Arrogante: I'll deal with Elsine. Get Yuisis out of here.
Yuisis: What... is the meaning of this?
Yuisis: Hack... Cough!
Yuisis: I thought you ordered Elea and your other goons to kill me...
Yuisis: And yet... now you're—
Vyrn: Hey, save the talk! You're still hurt really bad!
Arrogante: I have a dream, Yuisis. And to fulfill that dream, I need you—
Arrogante: No, rather... I need you as the boss of the Ditoria Knights.
Arrogante: That's why I can't have you dying here.
Yuisis: You're not makin' any sense... Cough...
Arrogante: You'll understand in due time.
Arrogante: For now, consider me an ally.
Eyeing him with suspicion...
The crew decide that trusting Arrogante is currently their best course of action.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 4: Separation Anxiety - Episode 3

As the Luceria Knights and Eligoth Knights face off against each other, Elea asks the crew to leave her behind for being a traitor. But Yuisis still sees Elea as family and pleads for the crew to save her too. They gladly oblige.

As the battle between the two factions unfolds...
(Captain) prepares to piggyback Yuisis.
Vyrn: Are we really just gonna take that guy's word for it?
Vyrn: Isn't he, like, Crazy Girl's nemesis?
  1. Saving Yuisis and the others comes first.

Choose: Saving Yuisis and the others comes first.
Yuisis: Cough... Wait, (Captain)... My Ditoria...
Yuisis's eyes turn to the sword in Elsine's hand.
Yuisis: I gotta get that back...
Yuisis: It symbolizes authority... over the Ditoria Knights...
Vyrn: Get a grip, Crazy Girl! Gettin' you out in one piece has gotta take priority!
Lyria: Yeah! Especially since you're still bleeding!
Yuisis: But Ditoria's... everything to me...
  1. We can get it back later.

Choose: We can get it back later.
Yuisis: (Captain)...
Elea: Yes... There's still hope as long as you're alive.
Lyria: Elea! You're awake!
Elea: Yeah... Can't very well be sleeping it off when everyone around me is raising hell.
Lyria: Um... Can you walk?
Elea: Nuh-uh, I've lost too much blood... Can't even move my fingertips...
Vyrn: We're gonna have to haul ya outta here then.
Elea: No... Please just... leave me here...
Elea: As a traitor... Urk... This would be a fitting end... for me...
Elea: You've no reason... to save me anyhow...
Elea: Especially since I went after your lives...
A melancholy spreads over her face.
Yuisis: Please, (Captain)... You have to save her too...
Elea: Yuisis, what are you saying...
Yuisis: You'll always be family to me... Elea... That's why...
  1. That's the plan.

Choose: That's the plan.
Yuisis: Thank... you...
With those words, the life seems to leave Yuisis's body.
Vyrn: Crazy Girl, tell us you're okay!
Yuisis: ...
Lyria: We need to get her looked at fast.
Lyria: Of course, we're going to save you too, Elea! Please hang in there!
Elea: You'll save a turncoat like me? You're too kind... Cough...
Elea: Haha... Just like Yuisis...
Elea: That's why she has to... Hack... Cough...
Elea: ...
Lyria: Elea?
Vyrn: Crud, she's fainted too! We'd better step it up!
(Captain) carries both of them and beats a hasty retreat.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 4: Separation Anxiety - Episode 4

After seeing that the crew has safely escaped, Arrogante proposes to Elsine that they cut the battle short so that they may conserve their energy for a full-scale war on a future date. Being at a huge disadvantage at the moment, Elsine has no choice but to oblige.

The crew absconds, bringing the unconscious Yuisis and Elea to safety.
Elsine is sad to see them go, tears forming in her eyes.
Arrogante: After all that big talk, here you are sulking... Unbelievable.
Arrogante: Surely you realize deep down...
Arrogante: That as long as you're indebted to Wendt and Treia... To Yuisis...
Arrogante: You can't off her, as your redemption lies with her.
Arrogante: You can't imagine a world without Yuisis.
Arrogante: That's why you were so relieved when I interfered.
Arrogante: Gives you an excuse to not kill her, to instead allow her to escape.
Elsine: The Yuisis I know is dead... That was only someone pretending to be her.
Elsine: And I don't have a care in the world about what happens to others. So you're clearly mistaken.
Arrogante: Then why even bother to kill her? By your own hand, at that...
Arrogante: If she truly didn't matter, you could have ignored her existence.
Elsine: If she's only going to get in my way later on, then I have every reason to end her.
Elsine: And it has to be by my hand in order to draw the line.
Elsine: That's all there is to it.
Arrogante: So I see you wanted to prove to yourself...
Arrogante: That you can no longer go back...
Arrogante: I must say that's so absurd, it's laughable.
Arrogante: An absolute farce.
Elsine: ...!
Arrogante: But nonetheless, this is still...
A sense of ennui is evident on his visage as he turns to the Ditoria in Elsine's grip.
Arrogante: Never mind that. I see that it's hopeless.
Arrogante: Well, of course it is...
Elsine: Tch, you're not even looking my way as you mutter away! Stop playing games with me!
Arrogante: No games in play here. I'm just taking things in stride.
Arrogante: If you're this weak, then there are no possibilities to consider. You bore me.
He easily deflects Elsine's blade and gives her a strong kick in the ribs.
Elsine: Urgh!
Icas: El!
Arrogante: Hm, what now.
Arrogante: I could kill you right now, but you showed me something nice today...
As Arrogante thinks to himself...
An Eligoth Knight approaches and whispers something in his ear.
Arrogante: So they've made it out safely, eh...
Elsine: ...
Arrogante: I see... That gives me an idea.
With a snicker, he turns to Elsine once more.
Arrogante: As you likely heard, that crew has made it to safety.
Arrogante: I've accomplished what I came here for, so I have no reason to fight you.
Arrogante: Want to call it a draw?
Elsine: Hell no! You might be done with me, but I'm n—
Arrogante: Right, right. Believe me—I know.
Arrogante: On second thought, your Luceria Knights can be a real nuisance.
Arrogante: So how about this? Instead of this little skirmish, I propose all-out war between our gangs.
Arrogante: Actually, why don't we make it a war on three fronts?
Arrogante: That'd be more interesting, in addition to giving you an actual fighting chance.
Elsine: ...
Elsine glances at her men, fighting a losing battle against the Eligoth Knights.
Arrogante: Of course, I wouldn't mind either if you'd like to continue this skirmish.
Elsine: ...
Icas: El, I say we agree to his proposal. Because at this rate...
Elsine: You're right.
Elsine: Very well. I accept.
Though dismayed at the situation, the Luceria Knights sheathe their weapons.
Elsine: I just have one thing to say.
Elsine: There won't be a three-front war. Because it's going to be just the Luceria and Eligoth Knights...
Elsine: Or rather, just the Ditoria and Eligoth Knights... A battle between you and me.
Arrogante: Hah, what a riot. You refuse to accept reality, preferring to play the part of tough girl...
Arrogante: Ever thought about stepping down as gang leader and becoming an actor instead?
Elsine: ...!
Icas: El!
Arrogante: Heheh, let's hope you'll be ready to adorn the stage with your velvety blood when the time comes.
Arrogante: If we're lucky, all that spilled blood might help trigger the awakening.
Arrogante sheathes Vasuria and exits the premises with the Eligoth Knights.
Elsine: Icas, how many men do we have left?
Icas: Only half survived... And they've all sustained heavy injuries...
Elsine: That's unfortunate...
Elsine: Icas, tell everyone we'll be engaging in all-out war with the Eligoth Knights.
Elsine: And contact the former Ditoria Knights now scattered across various lands.
Elsine: I am going to rebuild the gang as its new leader.
Elsine: Let them know that I now possess the Ditoria sword.
Icas: Understood. What of Yuisis and Elea?
Elsine: ...
Elsine: Leave them be... Our war with the Eligoth Knights has to take priority.
Icas: Right... Of course.
Elsine's eyes turn to the sword in her hand.
Her tear-stained face is reflected off the blade.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 5: Something to Strive For - Episode 1

Yuisis wakes up in the hospital ten days after her duel with Elea, who is also safe but remains unconscious at the moment. Upon learning from the crew that Elsine is going around with the Ditoria blade in hand calling herself the Ditoria Knights' new boss, Yuisis wonders where she stands in all this.

After escaping from the battle between gangs...
The crew takes Yuisis and Elea to a hospital on the island for treatment.
Yuisis: Huh? What am I doing here...
Elsine: In other words, (Captain)... Your existence is a problem. That's why...
Elsine: I need you gone!
Yuisis: (That's right... I leapt in front of (Captain) and got knocked out by—)
Yuisis: Oh no! Elea!
Recalling what had happened earlier, Yuisis springs up from her bed.
An intense surge of pain rushes through Yuisis's body, her visage twisting in agony.
Yuisis: Ngh! Guh...
Vyrn: Crazy Girl, you awake yet—
Vyrn: Whoa, let's take it easy now!
Lyria: Yeah, you really need to stay in bed!
(Captain) lends Yuisis a shoulder and helps her lie back down.
Yuisis: Um, is Elea...
Vyrn: She's still gettin' some shut-eye. She was banged up a lot worse than you after all...
Lyria: The doctor said Elea will survive, but it'll be some time before she wakes up.
Yuisis: Oh no—
Yuisis: Augh!
Upon hearing of Elea's plight, Yuisis tries to get up.
But she collapses back onto the bed as the acute pain is too much to bear.
Vyrn: Gah! You've gotta take care of yourself first, Crazy Girl!
Lyria: That's right! The doctor said you wouldn't be alive right now if we had come any later!
Yuisis: Oh? I'm sorry for making you all worry about me...
Vyrn: Nah, it's all good. This is how we watch out for family.
Yuisis: Thank you...
Yuisis: But just to be sure... Elea's life is not in any danger for now, I take it?
  1. Relax, both of you will be fine.

Choose: Relax, both of you will be fine.
Lyria: Yeah, she simply needs her rest. Things are going to be just fine!
Yuisis: Okay... That's a relief.
A healthy color returns to her complexion.
This puts the crew at ease.
Yuisis: So, (Captain), what happened after that? Did El's gang—
Vyrn: For starters, you should know you've been asleep for over ten days after passin' out.
Yuisis: That's... an awfully long time...
Vyrn: Yep, and a lot's happened in the meanwhile.
Lyria: Elsine... She changed the name of her gang from Luceria Knights...
Lyria: To Ditoria Knights...
Yuisis: !
Lyria: She's been contacting former members, asking them to join up.
Yuisis: El...
Lyria: She's claiming to be the new boss of the Ditoria Knights...
Lyria: By showing everyone your sword...
Lyria: One of the men we'd met at your parents' memorial service told us so.
Yuisis: Yeah, she'd be capable of that...
Yuisis: Especially with Ditoria in her hands.
Vyrn: So whatcha gonna do now, Crazy Girl?
Vyrn: Workin' side by side with Elsine doesn't seem like an option anymore.
Yuisis: ...
Yuisis: I don't mean to be rude, but could you leave me to rest for a bit?
Lyria: Oh, right. Sorry for intruding.
Yuisis: Nuh-uh, it's fine. I'm the one who was askin' questions after all.
(Captain) and company take their leave of Yuisis.
Yuisis: (What do I do...)
Yuisis: (I wanted to rebuild the Ditoria Knights with (Captain), Elea, and Elsine...)
Yuisis: (But now...)
Elsine: Remember this, Yuisis.
Elsine: A boss in the mafia needs to be able to judge friend from foe with a level head.
Elsine: It doesn't matter if that person is a family member, or even a civilian.
Elsine: It's a job that requires a hardened heart.
Elsine: Would you simply allow a repeat of the crushing despair that would follow?
Elsine: I'll rebuild the Ditoria Knights alone if I have to.
Elsine: And I'll be its new boss.
Yuisis: Mom, Dad... Have I been mistaken all this time?
Yuisis's frail voice echoes across the quiet room.
As there is no one around to answer her, she ponders the question in silence.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 5: Something to Strive For - Episode 2

Days later, Yuisis learns from Elea that she joined the Eligoth Knights in hopes of gaining the chance to assassinate Arrogante. The crew is relieved to know that Elea never truly meant to kill Yuisis. Though Yuisis is still uncertain what their next move should be.

A few days pass after Yuisis awakens.
The crew has been gathering info on Elsine's movements while keeping a watchful eye over Yuisis's recovery.
Vyrn: You gonna be okay, Crazy Girl?
Yuisis: Still hurts a bit, but I'm a lot better for the most part.
Yuisis: Besides, I'm tired of lyin' in bed all day.
  1. Just remember to take it easy.
  2. That worries me...

Choose: Just remember to take it easy.
Yuisis: I know.
Yuisis: The last thing I want to do is push myself too hard and cause you all more trouble.
Vyrn: Good to know we're on the same page. But really now, watch yourself.
Vyrn: I mean, I don't call you Crazy Girl for nothin', y'know?
(Captain) nods in agreement.
Yuisis: I'll be careful.

Choose: That worries me...
Yuisis: Really, I'll be fine. There's no need to worry.
Yuisis: I'll be sure not to push myself too hard until I've made a full recovery.
Vyrn: Yeah, well, there's a reason I call you Crazy Girl, y'know...
Yuisis: I mean it this time. After all, I wouldn't want to cause you guys more trouble.
Yuisis: That said, I do appreciate the concern.
Continue 1
Lyria: Yuisis!
Yuisis: Hey, Lyria. What's the rush?
Lyria: Elea just woke up!
Yuisis: ...!
Yuisis: Elea!
Elea: Yuisis... Looks like we both survived.
Yuisis: ...!
Her eyes growing watery, Yuisis flings her arms around Elea.
Elea, in response, gently cradles Yuisis's head.
Elea: I want to thank you for saving me...
Elea bows deeply at the crew.
Elea: (Captain), Yuisis... What are your plans for me?
Yuisis: Tell us the truth already, without deflectin' this time...
Elea: Very well. The plan always was to tell you everything the moment I lost that duel.
Yuisis: I'm listening, Elea.
Yuisis: You can start by explainin' why you joined up with Arrogante in the first place!
Elea: So that I could kill him myself.
Yuisis: Elea, you mean...
Elea: Whatever you're thinking, it's probably right. I enlisted in Arrogante's gang for a chance at assassinating him.
Yuisis: ...!
But why?
Yuisis: You know full well that the Ditoria Knights forbade assassinations!
Elea: Yes... But it was the only method I could think of for taking him out.
Yuisis: What do you mean? With your skills...
Elea: It was hopeless... I couldn't put a single scratch on him.
Yuisis: ...!
(Captain) and company, knowing just how strong Elea is from having traded blows with her, are flabbergasted at this revelation.
Vyrn: You've gotta be joking...
Elea: It's the truth.
Yuisis: ...
Elea: Ever since that revolt, I swore to myself that I would do whatever it takes to settle things with Arrogante...
Elea: Even if it meant breaking the Ditoria Knights' code of honor.
Elea: I wanted revenge for the boss, for Treia... For your parents.
Elea: It's why I joined the Eligoth Knights and carried out my orders to the letter.
Elea: All to gain Arrogante's trust and a chance to assassinate him.
Yuisis: Why didn't you tell me that the first time we met up! If only I'd known...
Elea: Would telling you have changed anything? Chances are you wouldn't have agreed with my ways anyhow.
Yuisis: That's... Well...
Elea: Besides, this was the path I decided on. Didn't feel right dragging you into it.
Elea: It was far too removed from the path of chivalry that you were aiming for.
Yuisis: ...
Lyria: But why did you target Yuisis if you didn't want her involved?
Elea: I never had any intention of killing Yuisis.
Elea: I believe I made that clear upon our reunion.
Elea: It's why I said Yuisis would be okay as long as she handed over Ditoria...
Vyrn: Still though, it was an order from Yuisis's nemesis...
Elea: True, but it was my wish as well.
Elea: I figured Arrogante would lose interest in Yuisis if I had possession of Ditoria...
Elea: In that sense, I could have prevented her from getting involved.
Elea: Without Ditoria, she'd be able to live a normal life...
Elea: Or so I thought.
Elea: But Yuisis, wanting to pursue the path she'd envisioned, refused.
Elea: She was set on following her parents' footsteps.
Lyria: Then the duel the other day was...
Elea: I went all out but intended to hold back on the finishing blow, of course.
Elea: I thought if I hurt Yuisis bad enough, I could fake her death and send her to safety.
Yuisis: F-fake my death?
Elea: Yes, I never wanted to kill you. Yet I couldn't disobey Arrogante either.
Elea: And so I settled on faking your death.
Elea: I planned on doing the same with (Captain).
Elea: Bringing you both to a critical state was the most I was going to do.
Elea: (Captain)'s an innocent bystander who unfortunately got involved...
Elea: And someone very precious to Yuisis.
Elea: There was no way I was going to let either one of you die.
Elea manages a wry smile.
Vyrn: So we were never actually in danger around you from the get-go.
Elea: Correct... I've always looked at Yuisis as a dear little sister. She will always be family to me.
Elea: What's more, I made a promise to the boss and Treia...
Elea: To protect Yuisis. Even now, I still have every intention of keeping that promise.
Yuisis: Elea!
Tears streaming down her face, Yuisis throws herself into Elea's arms.
Elea lovingly strokes her head.
Elea: Anything else you wanted to ask? If not, I'd like to ask a favor.
She then turns to the crew.
Elea: Can I get an update on the current situation? Particularly on everything that's happened after I was rendered unconscious.
(Captain) briefs her on recent happenings.
Elea: I see... El's taken charge of the Ditoria Knights, huh...
Yuisis: ...
Elea: Well, Yuisis? What are your plans?
Yuisis: Good question...
Yuisis falls silent.
Elea waits for an answer, but there is no response.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 5: Something to Strive For - Episode 3

Yuisis visits her parents' graves. A tete-a-tete with Elea there helps Yuisis break out of her slump. Realizing she simply has to follow her heart, Yuisis is ready to move forward.

Yuisis sneaks out of her hospital bed in the middle of the night to visit her parents' graves.
Yuisis: ...
Yuisis: Dad, Mom... I have something to tell you.
Yuisis: El is goin' to rebuild the Ditoria Knights as its new boss.
Yuisis: Only problem is, she's a very different El from the one we knew back in the day...
Yuisis: That's why it's likely gonna be very different from the Ditoria Knights of old...
Yuisis: ...
Yuisis: Dad, Mom... How do you think I should handle the situation?
Yuisis: I wanted to revive the family that you fought so hard to put together.
Yuisis: It's what's kept me goin' all these years. But look where that got me...
Yuisis: Not to mention El said I wouldn't be fit for leader...
Elsine: As it stands, I can't even acknowledge you as the rightful boss of the Ditoria Knights.
Elsine: As long as you keep up that naive way of thinking...
Elsine: If you were to restore the family, I would come to cut you down myself.
Yuisis: What do you think? Is El right about me not being fit to be leader?
Yuisis pours her heart out to her parents.
???: You talking to the bosses?
Surprised to hear another voice, Yuisis turns around to find Elea there.
Yuisis: Elea? What are you doing here...
Elea: I happened to spot you leaving the premises.
Elea: I was worried and thought I'd tag along.
Yuisis: ...
Elea: Tell me, Yuisis. What's on your mind right now?
Elea: I think talking it out with someone should lighten the burden.
Yuisis: ...
Elea: Despite my actions, you never gave up on me as family.
Elea: And so as your family, give me a chance to help.
Elea: Though if any part of you still sees me as a traitor, I'd completely understand...
Yuisis: Well, when you put it that way, I've got no choice but to tell ya...
With a smile, Yuisis reveals her inner struggles to Elea.
Yuisis: Any thoughts on how I should go about this, Elea?
Yuisis: El believes I'm bein' far too optimistic about it all, but...
Elea: Be yourself, Yuisis. Do what you want.
Yuisis: Huh...
Elea: If you ask me...
Elea: Only those with strong, unwavering conviction for their beliefs are worthy of being boss.
Elea: In that sense, Yuisis, you pass with flying colors.
Yuisis: But El said I...
Elea: People go about things differently. That goes for gangs too.
Elea: You and El hold different beliefs. And that extends to your notions of the ideal boss.
Yuisis: ...
Elea: My advice is to push forward with your own beliefs and become the boss that you envision.
Yuisis: But if the family falls apart and everyone suffers because of me, what then?
Elea: No point worrying about what-ifs.
Elea: Everything happens in its own time. Nothing lasts forever.
Elea: Focusing on the negative won't get you anywhere, especially not as the family boss.
Yuisis: ...
Elea: Focus instead on what it is you want to do, and how you want to go about it.
Elea: In other words, follow your heart. And most importantly, never lie to yourself.
Yuisis: Heheh...
Elea: What's so funny?
Yuisis: (Captain)'s crew once told me something really similar.
Yuisis: That it all comes down to me in the end...
Yuisis: One thing they said really struck a chord.
Yuisis: Which was that I need to do things my way.
Yuisis: That it all comes down to me in the end...
Yuisis: One thing they said really struck a chord.
Yuisis: Which was that I need to do things my way.
Yuisis: Your words reminded me of that.
Yuisis: Sure makes me realize how little I've grown. That's what the chuckle was for.
Elea: Ah... Sage advice from the boss of such a large crew.
Elea: That captain obviously understands what matters most.
Yuisis: Mm-hm. It's why I was so quick to accept (Captain) as family.
A genuine smile graces her lips, as if a curse has been lifted.
Yuisis: How could I forget... I need to stand up for my own beliefs.
Yuisis: Bein' tossed aside by the family I placed my trust in for so long made me lose my way.
Yuisis's expression is filled with a renewed vigor, suggesting that she's ready to take the next step.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 5: Something to Strive For - Episode 4

Elea calls out to the brush behind her, and the crew, who had been listening to their conversation, emerges. Yuisis explains that she'd like their assistance in rebuilding the Ditoria Knights with its original chivalrous nature intact.

Yuisis is back to her normal self.
And Elea is glad to have played a part in her recovery.
Elea: Don't you think it's about time you came out of hiding?
With a wry grin, Elea speaks to the brush behind her.
Lyria: Ahaha... So you noticed us all along.
Yuisis: Not you guys too... How long were you there?
Elea: From the beginning.
Yuisis: ...!
Lyria: Um... We started looking when we saw that Yuisis wasn't in her room.
Lyria: And that's when we spotted you heading outside...
Vyrn: We tailed ya, and whaddya know... Led us right to Crazy Girl.
Yuisis: You could've called out to me...
Vyrn: It sounded like you were havin' a pretty serious convo, and we didn't wanna butt in...
Yuisis: S-so you heard everything?
Lyria: Erm... Yes.
Yuisis: ...!
Yuisis blushes, unable to contain her embarrassment.
Yuisis: You must be so disappointed in me.
Yuisis: After gettin' all that advice from you guys, I haven't matured a bit...
(Captain) suggests otherwise.
Yuisis: Really?
Vyrn: Heck yeah! You worry too much.
Vyrn: That's what happens when ya try to take the world on by yourself.
Lyria: Yeah! You should know that we're always here to lend an ear!
Lyria: We've broken bread, which makes us family. And any good family has to start with trust.
Lyria: You're the one who taught us that, Yuisis!
Yuisis: Urk... I'll try to keep it in mind from now on.
Elea: Hehe, nice to see the other side of you come out when talking to the crew.
Yuisis: Mng...
Yuisis shrinks up, her face turning a telltale shade of red.
Vyrn: Yeah, we really want you to just be yourself, Crazy Girl.
Vyrn: Besides, that was (Captain)'s order from the get-go.
  1. What's on your mind, Yuisis?

Choose: What's on your mind, Yuisis?
Yuisis: I...
Yuisis: I want to rebuild the Ditoria Knights as the chivalrous family that my parents always wanted it to be...
Yuisis: And I want to involve all of you, along with El's people, in that effort.
Elea: Then no matter what anyone tells you, make sure you stick to your guns.
Yuisis: Right. But I'm weak and can't do this alone...
Yuisis: (Captain), Elea, I'll be countin' on your help.
Yuisis: To beat Arrogante and finally move forward...
Yuisis: To be family with El again...
Yuisis: And to make my dream come true...
Yuisis bows deeply at everyone.
  1. We've got your back!

Choose: We've got your back!
Elea: ...
Elea: (As long as Yuisis can keep up this attitude, she just might be able to awaken Ditoria's power...)
Elea: (The question is whether or not she can use that power...)
Elea: (Either way, it's a bet I'm willing to make.)
Elea: Yes, of course I'll help.
Yuisis: Thank you, (Captain), Elea!
Yuisis is all smiles.
Elea: Nice to know you've found a great boss for yourself.
Elea: (I'd planned on settling things myself...)
Elea: (But if Yuisis is intent on moving forward with her dream, then I'll gladly devote my life to her cause.)
Elea: (Perhaps this will be my final mission...)
Seeing Yuisis in such an upbeat mood helps Elea come to terms with her own decisions.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 6: Sticking to Your Guns - Episode 1

At the hospital, the crew decides on a plan to have Yuisis take over the Ditoria Knights as its new boss. In the days leading up to the showdown with Arrogante, Elea teaches Yuisis the ultimate technique in Ditoria-style swordsmanship.

(Captain) and company have pledged their assistance to Yuisis.
They are now back at the hospital, discussing their next move.
Yuisis: Say, Elea, do you think the Ditoria Knights that El's currently built up can beat the Eligoth Knights?
Elea: Can't be sure since I don't know their exact size, but I'm leaning towards no.
Elea: The Eligoth Knights isn't only a massive organization, but its members aren't afraid to get rough.
Yuisis: There's only one solution then.
Yuisis: Let's go find El so we can bust some heads.
Vyrn: Whoa! Slow down there, Crazy Girl!
Yuisis: That's what it's gonna take to beat the Eligoth.
Yuisis: An all-out war between the two gangs is already in the cards.
Yuisis: And Ditoria's chances of winnin' may as well be goose eggs.
Yuisis: Of course, that changes once you add us to the picture.
Elea: I see what you mean. But I doubt El would welcome us with open arms.
Vyrn: Course not. She'd sooner bump us off than accept our help.
Yuisis: I know. That's why I need to finally clear the air between El and me.
Yuisis: It's time to take back both the sword and my family.
Yuisis: Our combined forces just might stand a chance against Arrogante.
Elea: You plan on wresting control from El?
Yuisis: Mm-hm. The Luceria Knights are made up of former Ditoria members anyway.
Yuisis: As far as I know, El cleaned up the traitors in their ranks when she became leader...
Yuisis: But beyond that, her group was meant to be a successor to the Ditoria Knights.
Yuisis: And now she's even gathered the old members who had been disbanded.
Yuisis: I don't find it out of place for me to be at the top.
Yuisis: After all, I'm Wendt's daughter... The true successor to the Ditoria Knights.
Elea: For sure. I don't think anyone would question your authority on that.
Elea: I'm just saying our chances at gaining control of the family don't look too great, given our numbers.
Elea: El's mustered quite a big group, and we can't forget she has Icas on her side.
Yuisis: Well...
Elea: While I don't disagree with your reasoning for going to the mattresses, it seems precarious to leave the actual showdown to a very slim chance.
Elea: Without a plan, it's easy to imagine things going south.
Yuisis: I'm all out of ideas. And it's not like we have time either...
Elea: We need someone who's not afraid to go cause a ruckus.
Elea: Meanwhile the main force—led by you—goes after El.
Elea: That's the best solution I can think of.
Yuisis: I can't exactly ask for volunteers to go take a bullet...
Elea: Don't you see, Yuisis? You've got the perfect candidate right in front of you.
Yuisis: Elea, you don't mean...
Elea: I'll be the bait... and take on Icas while I'm at it.
Elea: The rest of you make a beeline to El.
Elea: This plan would result in the lowest number of casualties, with a decent chance of success.
Yuisis: I-I can't believe you're sayin' this, Elea!
Lyria: Y-yeah! You need more time to recover, Elea!
Lyria: Sending you out alone in your state would be...
Elea: I don't mind. In fact, I don't even deserve to be alive right now.
Elea: Please, Yuisis. Allow me to make this sacrifice for your sake.
Vyrn: Not in a million years!
Lyria: Yeah, you need to value your own life more!
Elea: Do you have any other ideas then?
Lyria: Well, I can call on primal beasts...
Elea: Not an option.
Elea: As powerful as your primals are, you need time to summon them.
Elea: I could cut you down faster than you could summon. And the same goes for Icas.
Lyria: ...!
Lyria's face turns pale as she recalls the moment Icas almost struck her down.
Elea: And let's not forget this raid is only the first step. There's still the battle with Arrogante afterwards.
Elea: That's why we have to minimize our losses as much as possible.
Elea: To do that, a quick skirmish is the most viable option.
Elea: If we were to gather an army and drag this battle out...
Elea: Everyone would be too tired to take on the Eligoth Knights later on.
Elea: That would be the worst-case scenario.
Not intent on sending Elea off to battle alone, the crew tries to debate her.
But silence fills the air, for none can think of a logical counterpoint.
Yuisis: I only ask one thing of you, Elea... Promise me you'll come back alive.
Elea: That's gonna be a tough one...
Yuisis: I don't want to lose any more family.
Yuisis: And like I said, I wanna rebuild the Ditoria Knights with all of you. That includes you, Elea.
Yuisis: So...
Elea: Understood. No promises, but I'll definitely give it my best shot.
Elea: Which reminds me... Yuisis, do you have another weapon you can use?
Yuisis: Yeah, it's something I used to use a long time ago.
Yuisis produces a sword from her belongings.
Elea: Great. I'd like to train you a bit before we head out.
Yuisis: Why do I need training all of a sudden? If anything, you should be back in bed resting up.
Elea: I need to explain how Arrogante fights...
Elea: And also to teach you the Ditoria Style's ultimate technique...
Yuisis: ...!
Elea: Master it, and I guarantee it'll come in handy against Arrogante.
Yuisis: Okay then. Show me, Elea.
Yuisis shoots Elea a serious look...
Suggesting her willingness to learn whatever Elea has to teach her.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 6: Sticking to Your Guns - Episode 2

While the crew is out gathering info, Elea trains Yuisis and asks her to consider turning (Captain) into a companion for life.

Elea has promised to teach Yuisis the ultimate Ditoria Style sword technique.
While the crew is busy gathering info, the pair come to Yuisis's family home.
Elea: No distractions here. Ready your sword, Yuisis.
Yuisis: Are your injuries okay?
Elea: Nothing to worry about. I was given painkillers, and the bleeding has stopped.
Yuisis: Okay, I'll stop askin' about that. Just don't push yourself too hard.
Content with Elea's answer, Yuisis grips her sword.
Elea: Okay, I'm going to show you how to do the move.
Elea: In my current state, I can probably only do it once, so watch very carefully.
Elea enters a fighting stance.
Elea: Here I go...
In the next moment, Elea unleashes the Ditoria Style ultimate technique in Yuisis's direction.
Cold sweat runs down her back.
Yuisis: (So this is the Ditoria Style's final secret art...)
Elea is immediately dazed and nearly keels over.
Yuisis rushes over, catching Elea in her arms.
Yuisis: Elea!
Elea: I'm fine...
Yuisis: Really?
Elea: Yuisis, we have to make sure you can pull this move off yourself...
Elea: Before your showdown with El.
Yuisis: Tell me, Elea, why didn't you use this technique during your duel with me?
Yuisis: You could've won easily...
Elea: It's more like I couldn't use it.
Elea: It takes a big toll on the body.
Elea: Since I had to fight (Captain) afterward, I couldn't afford to waste it on you.
Yuisis: Can't just use it willy-nilly, huh...
Elea: Let's begin sparring.
Yuisis: Yes, let's.
Yuisis politely bows, eager for the opportunity.
Over the span of a few hours...
The two train without rest.
Elea: It's getting dark... Let's stop here for today.
Yuisis: Huff... Huff... Thanks.
Yuisis bows, then collapses right onto the ground.
Elea: Yuisis, lying down like that is going to get your clothing and hair dirty.
Yuisis: It's okay; I can always wash off the grime.
Elea: Hah, I guess there's no point scolding you for this.
Elea sits down too and gently raises Yuisis's head onto her lap.
Yuisis: Elea?
Elea: I imagine it must be uncomfortable to rest without a pillow.
Yuisis: Thanks.
Yuisis: ...
Elea: ...
Yuisis: You used to train me all the time here back in the day...
Elea: I certainly did.
As the two reflect on better times, they look at the collapsed house with a distant gaze.
Elea: I just remembered something I want to confirm with you, Yuisis.
Yuisis: What's that?
Elea: You broke bread with (Captain).
Elea: And you view (Captain) as the ideal leader.
Elea: Am I right about that?
Yuisis: Uh-huh... Why do you ask?
Elea: Have you considered advancing your relationship with (Captain)?
Yuisis: ...?
Elea: I'm saying maybe you two can start a real family.
Yuisis: Whaddya mean? We've already broken bread, and that makes us family.
Elea: My, aren't you a dim one... I suppose I should've taught you more about this.
Yuisis: Elea?
Elea sighs at seeing Yuisis genuinely confused.
Elea: To put it another way, consider (Captain) as a mate for life...
Elea: As someone you want to grow old together with.
Yuisis: !
Yuisis: You mean, like, my better half! The captain's always been my role model in addition to bein' family...
Yuisis: It's true I've got more trust and respect for (Captain) than most, but...
Yuisis: I never thought of us startin' a relationship in that way...
Yuisis: Why are you even bringin' this up all of sudden?
Elea: Oh, believe me, it is not sudden.
Elea: Every family's gotta consider who the future successor is gonna be.
Elea: You wouldn't believe how many gangs either split up or disband because of this problem.
Elea: If you really want to rebuild the Ditoria Knights, you'll want to give this careful consideration.
Yuisis: O-okay, I got it... I'll keep it in mind.
Elea: Please do.
Elea: But your response earlier brings me great relief.
Elea: To think that you have someone you respect and rely on so much...
Elea: Who also happens to be someone you can proudly call family...
Yuisis: Elea...
Elea: Treia and the ladies watching from the other side must be so proud of you.
Elea: Yuisis, take care to nurture this relationship.
Yuisis: Yeah, I will.
Yuisis: And not just (Captain)'s crew, but there's also you, El, Icas...
Yuisis: And all the scattered members of the Ditoria Knights. I treasure every one of ya.
Yuisis: We're gonna rebuild the family into what it was always meant to be.
Elea: You can count on my support every step of the way.
Yuisis: ...
Elea: ...
Yuisis: Zzz...
Elea: Yuisis?
Yuisis: Zzz...
Elea: She always did fall asleep like this...
Elea: (She must be tired. I suppose I should let her rest.)
Elea: Good night, Yuisis. And sweet dreams.
Elea puts on a contented grin as she lovingly strokes Yuisis's head.
Yuisis is further lulled to sleep by Elea's soothing touch.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 6: Sticking to Your Guns - Episode 3

Upon receiving word that war has broken out at Elsine's state, the crew rushes over to find it nearly overrun by the Eligoth Knights. Icas and Elea fight off the lackeys while the crew rushes ahead to save Elsine.

Yuisis: Here I go, Elea!
Elea: Rgh!
The sparring match between the pair is getting heated.
Unable to fully defend against Yuisis's attacks, Elea's sword is knocked out of her hands.
Yuisis: Huff... Huff... Did I do it?
Elea: You certainly did. Though I didn't expect you to learn it this fast... It speaks to your remarkable talent.
Yuisis: Pant... Wheeze... More like you're a kick-ass teacher.
Yuisis slumps to the ground.
Elea: Let's stop here for today.
Yuisis: I can keep going. After a little rest, that is—
Elea: No, it appears something has come up.
Yuisis: Huh...
Elea's attention turns to the figure behind Yuisis.
Vyrn: Crazy Girl!
Ex-Ditoria Knight: Lady Yuisis!
Yuisis: What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost...
Ex-Ditoria Knight: War's broken out between Lady Elsine's Ditoria Knights and the Eligoth Knights!
Yuisis: ...!
Lyria: What do we do? The plan was to launch an attack against Elsine, but now...
Yuisis: ...
Yuisis: We're stickin' with the plan.
Yuisis: Despite what's happened, we still need to take over the Ditoria Knights before squarin' off with Arrogante's gang.
Yuisis: And this is the perfect opportunity. If war's broken out, most of Elsine's men should be out fighting...
Yuisis: Which gives us a straight path to her.
Yuisis: We'd better hurry.
And so the crew makes preparations to storm Elsine's estate.
The crew make their way to Elsine's estate.
Upon arrival, they stand dumbfounded at what's become of the place.
Vyrn: Holy Hector...
Its walls are stained with blood.
Lying all over the place are fallen gang members.
Lyria: ...
Yuisis: Are you okay, Lyria?
Lyria: Um, yeah... I'll be fine...
Elea: I didn't expect things to move this fast...
Yuisis: We need to get to El, stat!
(Captain) and company proceed farther into the estate.
Yuisis: Ngh!
The crew make haste in their search for Elsine.
But countless Eligoth Knights stand in the way.
Eligoth Knight 3: Not bad. Unfortunately for you, I ain't alone.
Eligoth Knight 4: Say your prayers!
Eligoth Knight 5: You're done for!
Eligoth Knight 6: Time to die!
A group of Eligoth Knights rush Yuisis from behind.
Yuisis: !
Elea: Too slow.
(Captain) and Elea cut them down before they can do any harm.
Yuisis: Thanks for the save, guys.
Elea: Your safety is everything.
(Captain) blithely nods in agreement.
Elea: What's happened here is...
Elea: ...
Elea: Yuisis, I hope you realize our initial reason for coming here has become moot.
Yuisis: Yeah, this is no time to be talkin' about who's boss.
Elea: From the looks of it, the Eligoth have nearly taken over the estate.
Elea: Yet they remain on high alert...
Yuisis: Maybe there's some place they haven't gained control of yet?
Elea: Right. And that's probably where we'll find El.
Yuisis: We'd better hurry.
Vyrn: Eyes forward! Here they come!
Eligoth Knight 7: Orders from the boss. Kill everyone other than Yuisis.
Eligoth Knight 8: Gotcha. A massacre it is.
Elea: Yuisis, there's no time. You have to decide whether you want to save El or not...
Yuisis: Do you even have to ask—
???: Out of the way.
A voice sounds from behind the Eligoth Knights.
After which they are immediately cut down by a flurry of sword strikes.
Yuisis: Icas...
Icas: Yuisis and Elea. So you survived after all.
Yuisis: Mm-hm... Where do you stand in all this? Why would you save us?
Icas: That's—
Noticing Icas's reeling body, Elea catches him in her arms.
Vyrn: Crud, he's got cuts and bruises all over!
Icas: It's fine. This is nothing... Ngh!
Elea: Icas, what happened?
Elea: I can't imagine any member of the Eligoth Knights being able to hurt you this bad.
Elea: Wait, these wounds...
Elea: This is Arrogante's doing!
Icas: Right you are.
Yuisis: He's here then?
Icas: Yeah... I took him on with the Ditoria Knights' elite. As you can see, things didn't turn out well for us.
Vyrn: You've gotta be kidding. Didn't think Dreamboat Guy could get wrecked so bad...
The crew is astounded to learn what's happened.
Elea: So where's Arrogante?
Icas: He went farther into the estate after knocking me out. Seemed intent on finishing off El.
Yuisis: !
Icas: Lady Yuisis, (Captain). I realize it's not my place to ask this, but...
Icas: I'm going to ask anyway. Please... Save El.
Icas: In return, I'll do anything you ask of me later.
Icas: I'm only asking for this one favor...
Icas dips his head deferentially.
Elea: Yuisis, I asked you earlier if you want to save El.
Elea: Tell me your answer now.
Yuisis: Course I'm savin' her! El's family just as much as everyone else!
Icas: Thank you, Lady Yuisis.
Elea: Understood. I'll handle the remaining Eligoth Knights here. The rest of you go to El.
Icas: No, Elea. You and I will handle the Eligoth Knights.
Elea: Icas?
Icas: With my injuries, I'd only get in Yuisis's way.
Icas: I'd be much more useful providing my services here.
Icas: Meaning your group won't have to worry about being assaulted from behind.
Icas: Consider it my way of protecting El.
Elea: Fair enough.
Yuisis: Elea... Icas...
Elea: Go, Yuisis. Fulfill your dreams.
Yuisis: Right. And don't you forget your promise to me, Elea.
Elea: I'll try.
Yuisis: And Icas?
Icas: Yes?
Yuisis: My newly formed Ditoria Knights is going to include much more than (Captain)'s crew.
Gran is the Main Character

Yuisis: I'll need El and you with me. So make sure you stay alive too...
Djeeta is the Main Character

Yuisis: I'll need El and you with me. So make sure you stay alive too...
Icas: You... You would have me?
Icas: As usual, you're too soft, Lady Yuisis. But I'll keep it in mind.
Yuisis: Thank you. Let's go, (Captain).
Vyrn: So this is it, huh...
Yuisis: Yep, it's likely our best chance. The Eligoth Knights will be forced to retreat if we can take down Arrogante.
Yuisis: In other words, we can end it all—here and now.
Yuisis: The war... And vengeance for my fallen family.
Yuisis: And once that's done...
Yuisis: I'll be able to rebuild the Ditoria Knights as I envision it.
Yuisis breaks into a run.
(Captain) and company are quick to follow after her.
Elea: And they're gone... They can be a handful at times.
Elea: Nice job on surviving Arrogante, by the way.
Icas: Nah. It's more like he let me live...
Elea: Oh? He must've meant for you to be a messenger to Yuisis.
Icas: Yeah. He knew that Lady Yuisis would go straight for him if he held El captive.
Icas: Asked me to beg for Yuisis's help...
Elea: I hate how things are progressing exactly as Arrogante planned it.
Icas: Tell me, Elea. Why exactly is Arrogante so obsessed with Yuisis?
Elea: I often wondered the same thing, but he would never tell me.
Elea: But enough talk. We have guests.
Elea surveys their surroundings.
Elea: Well then, shall we?
Icas: Yeah... For the sake of both of our families.
The pair ready their weapons and rush the Eligoth Knights.
Elea: You won't get past us.
Icas: We'll make sure of it.
Having entrusted everything to Yuisis and the crew...
The two souls burn bright in fulfillment of their own duties.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 6: Sticking to Your Guns - Episode 4

Upon finding Arrogante and Elsine, Yuisis quickly jumps into the fray and awakens Ditoria. Arrogante is pleased to see this, revealing that he's always wanted to kill Yuisis in her prime—his ideal revenge against Yuisis's parents.

Leaving Elea and Icas to watch their backs, the crew pushes onward to Elsine.
They come to a large room in the back where incapacitated members of both gangs lie on the ground.
Also in the room is Elsine, covered in wounds, clashing with Arrogante.
Yuisis: El!
Elsine: Yui... sis?
Yuisis rushes over and points her sword at Arrogante, intent on protecting Elsine.
Arrogante: Ah, the star of the show's finally here... You sure took your sweet time getting here.
Yuisis: You've done enough damage to my family! It's time we settled this!
Yuisis: You're gonna pay for takin' the lives of my parents!
Arrogante: Heheh, that's the attitude I like to see from Wendt and Treia's daughter.
Arrogante: Or should I say... the Ditoria Knights' boss.
Elsine: The hell's that supposed to mean! I'm Ditoria's boss!
Despite her injuries, Elsine pushes Yuisis aside and resumes her clash with Arrogante.
Arrogante: Ugh, what a tenacious one. Like I've been saying, don't you realize what a bore you are?
Arrogante effortlessly parries Elsine's sword, then kicks her away.
Elsine: Ungh!
Vyrn: Hey, take it easy! Leave this to us—
Elsine: Shut your mouth! Someone who's not even part of the family doesn't get to tell me what to do!
Lyria: Elsine...
Elsine: I need to avenge the boss and Treia!
Elsine: Seeing as I'm the Ditoria Knights' current boss and also the one responsible for its downfall!
Elsine grips Ditoria with her one good hand.
Arrogante: Unless you can draw out Ditoria's power, you'll fail no matter how many times you try.
Elsine: Ditoria's power? What do you mean?
Arrogante: Don't you know? Ditoria responds to the will of its wielder, amplifying their power.
Arrogante: It's no old wives' tale.
Arrogante: I would know because my own Vasuria grants power depending on the wielder's level of ambition.
Arrogante: And Ditoria is meant to be its counterpart.
Arrogante: The arcane sword of chivalry, granting its wielder strength based on their sense of righteousness and willingness to protect others.
Arrogante: That's why it was wielded by the most chivalrous one of all...
Arrogante: The Ditoria Knights' boss.
Yuisis: Huh...
Arrogante: Simply wielding the sword is hardly proof of leadership.
Arrogante: You've gotta be able to draw out its power.
Elsine: ...!
Arrogante: In other words, Elsine. You were never meant to lead.
Elsine: Tch! Even if what you say is true, I have every intention of winning this fight!
Elsine: I stand for my own beliefs!
Elsine puts everything she has into her next strike at Arrogante.
His expression turns into one of disgust.
Arrogante: Know your place, you trash. Awaken, Vasuria.
Arrogante: Hellblade Starfall!
Elsine: Augh...
Unable to defend against the attack, Elsine's body slams against the wall behind her with a loud thud.
Elsine: Not over... yet! I can still...
Arrogante: No, it's the end of the road for you. Hellblade Abyss.
Vasuria is enveloped in a dark glow.
It comes down on Elsine, ready to take her life.
Elsine: Ah...

The ebony and azure aura around Vasuria grows brighter.

Yuisis: Grwaaah!

Yuisis: Grwaaah!
Even with the combined might of the captain and Yuisis, their power proves to be lacking.
Vasuria puts a crack in both of their swords.
Elsine: What are you doing! Now's your time to make a run for it!
Yuisis: I... will not!
Elsine: Don't tell me you've forgotten... how I tried to kill you two!
Elsine: And now you're protecting me?
  1. Family is family.

Djeeta is the Main Character

Yuisis: When I rebuild the Ditoria Knights, I'm going to need (Captain)'s crew, Elea...
Yuisis: You, and Icas there! That's the only way it's going to work!
Elsine: Enough of that crap! Wishful thinking won't get you anywhere—
Yuisis: I know it's a long shot! But I've got my guidin' principles... and I'm gonna stick to 'em!
Yuisis: No matter what anyone says!
Elsine: !
Yuisis: Believe me when I say I'm gonna keep you safe, El!
A shrill sound signals the shattering of Yuisis's and (Captain)'s swords.
The two are left defenseless against Arrogante.
Lyria: (Captain)! Yuisis!
Elsine: Yuisis! Take Ditoria!
Yuisis: ...!
Yuisis defends against Vasuria with her Ditoria.
Arrogante is able to slowly push her back.
Arrogante: Haha, now that's a surprise.
Arrogante: Sure took long enough. Only one thing left...
Yuisis: Hraaah!
Yuisis: (Is this it for me? I haven't even avenged my parents yet...)
Yuisis: (If I lose here, (Captain), Elea, El, Icas, and everyone else will also...)
Yuisis: (No... I've lost enough people already!)
Yuisis: (I swore to protect the family...)
Yuisis: (To rebuild the Ditoria Knights...)
Yuisis: Please lend me power so that I may see my dream through!
Yuisis: No, grant me your power! Ditoria!
Ditoria glows a rosy pink color, now overflowing with power.
Yuisis leans into this newfound strength and pushes Vasuria back.
Yuisis: Aaaahhh!
Arrogante: Rgh!
Realizing his disadvantage, Arrogante backs away from Yuisis.
Yuisis: Huff... Huff...
Vyrn: Whoa, what just happened now?
Lyria: It's beautiful...
(Captain) and company are startled by what has just occurred.
Yuisis: So this is Ditoria's true power?
Arrogante: Mwahaha! That's right! You've awakened it at long last!
Yuisis: What's so funny?
Arrogante: Oh, I'm just delighted that my dream's finally going to come true.
Yuisis: You mean Ditoria's awakening was your goal all along?
Arrogante: Not exactly. My goal was to see you with a restored Ditoria sword...
Arrogante: As leader of the gang, die by my hand.
Arrogante: Gwahaha... This is how I'm gonna get Wendt and Treia to turn in their graves!
Arrogante: By proving that their entire lives were mistakes!
Yuisis: Sounds like you just want to get back at my parents through me.
Arrogante: You got that right. They're the ones I have a grudge against.
Arrogante: Only problem is they died... before I could finish them off myself.
Yuisis: The hell are you talkin' about! You're the one that murdered 'em in cold blood!
Yuisis: I saw you standing over my parents' bodies when I ran away!
Arrogante: They were already on the brink of death when I confronted them.
Arrogante: They took their last breath before I even struck a blow.
Yuisis: !
Arrogante: Damn pushovers! I was sure I'd get to whack 'em myself!
Arrogante: The plan completely blew up in my face!
Arrogante's face is filled with violent hatred as he recalls the past.
Yuisis: What makes you so obsessed with my parents in the first place?
Arrogante: Gotta have my revenge.
Yuisis: Wha? You mean...

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Chapter 6: Sticking to Your Guns - Episode 5

As a child, Arrogante worked for a small gang that was crushed by the Ditoria Knights. Yuisis's parents spared him, an act of mercy which crushed his pride as a mafioso. He later joined the Ditoria Knights and eventually led an insurrection, but Yuisis's parents died before he could deal the finishing blow. He believes offing Yuisis in her prime will be his path to true revenge.

Arrogante: I was a village orphan who got sold off to a gang.
Arrogante: The gang was a cutthroat one—the type that'd take on the dirtiest jobs. They'd even supplant their own bosses.
Arrogante: I did whatever I had to, to survive and make my bones.
Arrogante: Probably 'cause of the gang's unscrupulous nature, the Ditoria Knights sought us out and crushed us.
Yuisis: So that's why you're so bent on revenge...
Yuisis: You want to do right by all the family you lost...
Arrogante: The heck? Family? Me? Nuh-uh, never had any.
Arrogante: Only thing I had were pawns I either could or couldn't use.
Arrogante: I'm not so dumb as to want revenge for worthless goons.
Arrogante: So don't talk that family hogwash with me.
Yuisis: I can't believe you saw your family as pawns...
Arrogante: You and I approach things from completely different perspectives. That's all there is to it.
Yuisis: What do you call your revenge then!
Yuisis: If you consider everyone in your gang a pawn, what reason could you possibly have for revenge—
Arrogante: I was the only one kept alive.
Yuisis: Wha...
Arrogante: They said it wouldn't be right to kill a kid.
Arrogante: Told me to wash myself of mafia ties and go on the straight and narrow.
Arrogante: Can you understand how that felt?
Arrogante: To be spared over such bullcrap in this dog-eat-dog world?
Arrogante: There's no better way to crush a made man's pride.
Elsine: I know the feeling...
Elsine, still wincing in pain, stands up and turns to Arrogante.
Elsine: Because you trampled all over my pride just the same.
Arrogante: Hah! I bet you'd understand!
Arrogante: They denied everything I was, everything I stood for.
Arrogante: They sent me spiraling into self-doubt. Made me miserable.
Arrogante: Left a bad taste in my mouth that never went away...
Arrogante: No matter how strong I got and how much I climbed the ranks... It was like a curse.
Yuisis: ...
Arrogante: I made a decision to free myself of the curse by confronting it at the root.
Arrogante: By getting revenge on Wendt and Treia.
Arrogante: So I joined the Ditoria Knights.
Arrogante: I'd prove all their beliefs, ideals, and dreams to be wrong...
Arrogante: They'd taste the same despair that I did. Only then would I pop them.
Arrogante: I had to prove I was right. That was everything...
Yuisis: So you planned on betrayin' us from the start...
Yuisis: With the intention of shuttin' down our creed of chivalry and teachin' my parents a lesson...
Yuisis: You joined the Ditoria Knights just for that?
Arrogante: Exactly. Things proceeded precisely as I'd planned.
Arrogante: At last my revenge would come to fruition. I'd be freed of my curse...
Arrogante: But my plan fell apart at the last minute...
Arrogante: The top brass frickin' kicked the bucket before I could beat their heads in myself!
Arrogante: That's why I decided to go after you, their successor, instead.
Arrogante: Doing so would finally give me a chance to prove my point.
Arrogante: I was determined to make you all regret your notions of sympathy and compassion.
Arrogante: It'd be my ticket to freedom.
Arrogante: Except it wouldn't have made a difference if you weren't boss of the Ditoria Knights.
Arrogante: So I bided my time, waited for you to take your parents' place.
Yuisis: That explains your reaction when I awakened Ditoria.
Yuisis: Because wieldin' this sword in its awakened state is the real proof of Ditoria leadership.
Yuisis: Arrogante... You and I both lived lives bound to the mafia, to the Ditoria Knights.
Arrogante: ...
Yuisis: We're alike in a way.
Arrogante: Chivalry and violence couldn't be more different, but it's true that revenge motivates us both.
Arrogante: Which is why...
Yuisis: Uh-huh, which is exactly why we'll never be able to accept each other.
Yuisis: It's time we settled the score once and for all.
Arrogante: My thoughts exactly.
In the next instant, Vasuria transforms into twin blades.
Vyrn: Whoa, it changed form!
Arrogante: Yes, my Vasuria can transform just like Ditoria.
Arrogante: This form suits me better.
Arrogante: No one who's ever crossed blades with me when I'm wielding Vasuria in twin-blade form has survived.
Yuisis: No holdin' back, eh...
Arrogante: ...
Yuisis: (Captain), El, stand back.
Elsine: But...
Yuisis: This is my fight. Don't interfere.
  1. Just as long as you don't die.

Choose: Just as long as you don't die.
Yuisis: You can count on it. I'm gonna win and put an end to this for good.
(Captain) and company, placing their faith in Yuisis, do as ordered.
Yuisis: Let's go, Ditoria. It's time we took back our future!
Arrogante: Killing you is gonna liberate me from the curse of Wendt and Treia.
Arrogante: Then I'll be free to carve out my own future!
Arrogante: Grant me strength, Vasuria!
Ditoria and Vasuria shine, obeying the wills of their respective wielders.
And so the two engage in mortal combat.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Ending - Episode 1

Just as Yuisis is about to win the battle, Eligoth Knights pretending to be incapacitated rise and rush at Yuisis. Elsine, Elea, and Icas fight them off. Yuisis awakens both Ditoria and Vasuria, merging them into a single sword, and finally defeats Arrogante.

Yuisis: Got you!
Arrogante: Rgh!
Yuisis mercilessly slashes away, sending one of Arrogante's arms flying.
Wincing in pain, Arrogante drops Vasuria and falls to his knees.
Yuisis walks up to him, placing the tip of her sword to his neck.
Yuisis: Huff... Huff... I win.
Lyria: Yuisis, um...
Yuisis: Sorry, but I can't back down from this. I've gotta take revenge for my parents... for my family.
Lyria: ...
Yuisis: I'm sorry—
Arrogante: Fool! That softness will be your undoing!
Eligoth Knight 9: Too easy!
Yuisis: ...!
A man who was lying on the floor suddenly gets up to charge at Yuisis with his shiv.
Elsine: No!
Elsine: Cough!
Yuisis: El!
Eligoth Knight 9: Damn, she's in the way!
Elsine: I won't let Yuisis, boss of the Ditoria Knights, die!
Eligoth Knight 9: Gyaaah!
Elsine: Yuisis... I leave the rest in your hands...
Yuisis: El!
Yuisis turns her back to Arrogante, making to run over to Elsine.
Arrogante: That carelessness is gonna be the end of you!
Arrogante pulls out a dagger and stabs Yuisis in the back.
Yuisis: Auughh!
Lyria: Yuisis!
Arrogante: You guys haven't forgotten your orders, have you?
The crew rushes over to Yuisis.
But before they can move, other Eligoth Knights thought to be incapacitated rise up from the floor.
Vyrn: What the... They were playin' possum this whole time?
Arrogante: Heh... you got that right.
This sudden development brings the crew to a standstill.
Arrogante: Hehe... How the tables... have turned.
Arrogante goes over to Yuisis and kicks her Ditoria away.
Arrogante: Cunning and violence... win in the end... There's no room for chivalry.
Yuisis: Rgh... Just how low... can you sink...
Arrogante: You stupid? Doesn't matter... if I fight dirty... as long as I win...
Arrogante's expression a mix of pain and jubilation, he raises his dagger once more.
Arrogante: Hehehe... I've waited too long... to be free... of their curse.
Lyria: Run! Yuisis!
Arrogante: Too late!
As the dagger comes down on Yuisis, she deflects it with Vasuria.
Arrogante: The hell? When'd you grab my Vasuria!
Yuisis: It was lying on the ground... after I cut off your arm...
Yuisis: I'm not going to die here!
Yuisis: I made a promise to the crew...
Yuisis: And I've got my own wishes to fulfill! Grant me strength, Vasuria!
Arrogante: Rgh!
An azure and ebony aura flickers around Vasuria.
Arrogante's expression is one of desperation. He quickly backs away from Yuisis.
Arrogante: Shoot, didn't think you could draw out Vasuria's power...
Yuisis: I've got my own ambition... The ambition to take you out and build up the ideal gang...
Still staggering from the pain of her wound, Yuisis manages to get up.
Arrogante: Tch... Still ready to go at it even though you're half dead, eh?
Yuisis: Speak for yourself.
The two brace themselves for the duel's continuation.
With a loud thud, Elea and Icas burst into the room.
Elea: Glad to see you're okay.
Eligoth Knight 10: Urgh! You guys—
The Eligoth Knights are distracted for but a moment.
(Captain) is quick to take advantage of the situation.
Eligoth Knight 11: Damn it all—
Icas: You've got more than just (Captain) to worry about.
Caught in a pincer attack, the Eligoth Knights are quickly struck down.
Lyria: Elea! Icas!
  1. Good to see you two again!

Choose: Good to see you two again!
Icas: Our words exactly.
Elea: We took care of everyone else. Arrogante should be the only one remaining.
Arrogante: No way! The two of you alone took out that many of my men?
Elea: This fight was such a big deal that even the Crew of Enforcers showed up.
Elea: When I explained the situation and (Captain)'s involvement to their acting captain, they immediately sided with us.
Lyria: The Crew of Enforcers' acting captain would be...
Vyrn: We'll have to thank her later.
(Captain) nods with a smile.
Yuisis: To use your words, Arrogante... How the tables have turned.
Arrogante: ...
Elea: Yuisis, here you go—your real weapon!
Elea throws Ditoria at Yuisis, which was kicked away by Arrogante earlier.
Yuisis: Thanks, Elea!
Yuisis: Ditoria, awaken to the chivalry that I stand for!
Arrogante: Aw sh...
Ditoria and Vasuria flicker in turn, as if resonating with each other.
The two arcane swords then take on a new form.
Yuisis: It merged with Vasuria? Anyhow...
Yuisis points her newly merged weapon at Arrogante.
Yuisis: Let's finish this. You're gonna pay for murderin' my parents...
Yuisis: And for destroyin' the Ditoria Knights!
Yuisis: Skyblade Godslayer!
Arrogante: Damn you... I...
Struck by Yuisis's decisive blow, Arrogante finally succumbs.
Realizing what she's just accomplished, Yuisis sheds tears of joy.
Yuisis: Dad, Mom, gang... You have your vengeance. All that's left is to rebuild.
No longer on edge after having defeated her nemesis, Yuisis nearly sinks to the ground.
(Captain) stops her from collapsing and rushes her to a doctor.

A Ballad of Unbending Chivalry - Ending - Episode 2

Days after the showdown, Yuisis reiterates her intention to rebuild and restore the Ditoria Knights to its former glory. After breaking bread, she asks (Captain) to give some thought to becoming real family with her—in a more intimate sense. Yuisis is confident that together with her family, she will be able to overcome any obstacles ahead.

After everything has calmed down a bit a few days later, the crew is gathered at Elsine's estate.
Elsine: I won't make excuses for everything that's happened.
Elsine: Splitting up the family, trying to kill you...
Elsine: Calling myself the Ditoria Knights' new boss... That's all on me.
Elsine: I'm ready to pay for my mistakes with my life.
Icas: Likewise.
Elea: As a traitor myself, I'm just as guilty.
The three each take out a blade, prepared to pay the ultimate price.
Lyria: Yikes! No, stop it! You didn't survive to this day just to throw it all away!
Vyrn: Man, why are Crazy Girl's pals all like this!
Yuisis: Heh, welcome to my world.
Lyria: This is wrong no matter how you look at it.
Yuisis: Well, that aside, there's no way I'm going to accept this.
Yuisis: I'm gonna need help runnin' the new Ditoria Knights. And to that end, I want you three to become my aides.
Elsine: ...!
Are you serious? Have you forgotten I tried to k—
Yuisis: I've said this before, El. But I'm gonna stick to my guns no matter what anyone tells me.
Elsine: ...
Elea: Okay, I hear ya. Though I don't know how the other family members will feel about this.
Yuisis: As the Ditoria Knights' boss, I won't hear any complaints about this.
Elea & Elsine: ...
Icas: Do you really think that's going to fly, Lady Yuisis?
Yuisis: I know it won't be easy, but I'm going to make it happen.
Icas: It's rather arrogant to push for this simply because you wish it.
Yuisis: Maybe. But it's what I've decided, and that's that.
Yuisis: Besides, if I really am in the wrong, I have every confidence that (Captain) and you guys will stop me.
Vyrn: You can count on it.
Elea: You seem so much freer now.
Yuisis: I have you and (Captain) to thank for that.
Icas: Hahah...
Yuisis: Icas?
Icas: For a second, I saw the image of your father in you, Lady Yuisis.
Elea: Same. That arrogance about doing the right thing is just like your father.
Elea and Icas exchange wry smiles.
Elea: Yuisis, seeing as I was saved by you and the crew...
Elea: I'll gladly do anything you ask.
Elea: Especially since I want to see you succeed as the Ditoria Knights' new leader.
Icas: Whatever El decides, that's what I'm doing. On a personal level though, I wouldn't mind following Yuisis.
Yuisis: Well, El? Will you accept me as the new boss?
Elsine: When that blade almost went through you, the thought going through my head was that I can't let the Ditoria Knights' boss die...
Elsine: That's why I jumped in to protect you.
Yuisis: So then...
Elsine: I still can't approve of your naivete. Because I've seen how bad things can get when the going gets tough.
Yuisis: ...
Elsine: I might complain; I might criticize you; worst-case scenario, I might even leave.
Elsine: With that in mind, if you'll still have me... Then I'll gladly lend you my strength.
Vyrn: Geez, just come out with it and say you've got Yuisis's back.
Lyria: Um... I guess pride can be very important in their line of work!
Elsine: Oh, shut it...
Yuisis: What a mouth, El...
Elsine: Well, we're going to be family, Yuisis. And that goes for (Captain)'s crew too.
Elsine: Won't deny that I have mixed feelings about it though...
Yuisis: Okay then... This calls for a toast.
Yuisis: To celebrate the birth of the new Ditoria Knights.
And so all present break bread together.
After breaking bread, the crew discuss their plans going forward.
Vyrn: So what now, Crazy Girl?
Yuisis: Whaddya mean?
Vyrn: Well, now that you've got your revenge...
Vyrn: You're gonna be busy building up the gang. That means this is goodbye, right?
Lyria: Yeah, especially since you'll be needed here.
Yuisis: True. But as long as you guys are cool with it, I'd like to continue our travels together.
Vyrn: Fine by us, but... are you sure?
Yuisis: Yeah. I consider (Captain) the boss of all bosses after all...
Yuisis: And I've still got so much to learn.
Vyrn: Great, means we'll get to hang out together plenty more!
Yuisis: Lookin' forward to more adventures ahead.
The crew is happy to learn they'll get to continue traveling with Yuisis.
Yuisis: Anyway, I have a favor to ask of (Captain).
  1. What's that?

Choose: What's that?
Yuisis: Will you be family with me?
Vyrn: I thought we were already family ever since we broke bread.
Yuisis: No, I mean family in a more... intimate sense. (Captain), will you be with me?
Lyria: Eep! Are you asking for (Captain)'s hand in marriage?
Yuisis: Y-you've got the wrong idea! I mean, that's one way of goin' about it...
Vyrn: Um... So what are you gettin' at?
Yuisis: (Captain) is the ideal leader, the person I respect most.
Yuisis: But this whole mess with Arrogante really got me thinkin'.
Yuisis: You guys and I live in completely different worlds, come from different backgrounds...
Yuisis: Made me realize that our current "family" status is in name only.
Yuisis: It'd be way too easy for us to split up dependin' on circumstances.
Yuisis: Of course, I don't expect that to actually happen, but I can't deny the possibility.
Lyria: So that's why you want to be with (Captain)?
Yuisis: Yes. And I'm also followin' Elea's advice.
Yuisis: She told me to consider what happens after rebuildin' the gang.
Yuisis: And after a lot of thought, I came to a conclusion.
Yuisis: Which is that I want to be with you guys forever.
Yuisis: So, (Captain), won't you please—
Elsine: H-hold it right there, Yuisis!
Elsine: What about the Ditoria Knights! I thought you were going to rebuild?
Elsine: Don't tell me you're gonna turn us into a crew too—one that happens to travel with (Captain)...
Yuisis: 'Course not.
Yuisis: But I am thinkin' of establishing an alliance with (Captain)'s crew.
Vyrn: Whoa! Why is this the first time we're hearin' about this!
Yuisis: Because this is the first time I'm sayin' it.
Elsine: Would doing so bring any advantages to the family?
Yuisis: Sure. (Captain) has connections all over the skies.
Yuisis: From the finest royalty to more... shady groups...
Elea: I see... An alliance would grant us their protection.
Elea: Which means a lower chance of anyone wanting to mess with us.
Elsine: Sounds like a good idea to me.
Elsine: After all, a newly formed family with chivalry as its guiding principle is likely to be thought of as an easy target.
Icas: Most importantly, we know (Captain) can be trusted... That's huge, if you ask me.
Elsine: True. We won't have to worry about treachery from their side.
Yuisis: I'm glad you're seein' things my way.
Yuisis: So, (Captain), I suppose we can work out the particulars later.
Yuisis: But will you become true family with me?
  1. This is a bit sudden...

Choose: This is a bit sudden...
Yuisis: For sure. I suppose I did spring this on you out of the blue.
Yuisis: How about this? You can give me an answer once you've come of age.
Yuisis: I think by that time, I'll have a better idea myself of what direction I'd like our relationship to go.
(Captain) nods in agreement.
Yuisis: So first thing on the agenda is rebuildin' the Ditoria Knights...
Yuisis: I want it to be so great a family that it's considered on par with your crew...
Yuisis: Which would be the next step.
After all that has transpired, Yuisis renews her pledge to herself.
The path to Yuisis's ideal is one thickly sown with thorns.
Yet her face shines bright, for she is more than ready to tackle whatever obstacles lie ahead.
Yuisis is confident that with her dear family beside her, no challenge is too great.
